Pretty tempted to do two concurrent Ambassador prototype builds, take advantage of Chen's bonus, and call one of them the USS Ambassador and the other one USS Enterprise.

If at all possible I would agree, even if it would cost more or the second ambassador had, say, half an year to an year delay on the first, to give some shake down cruises for the first.

@crew - it kind of feels wrong to me to split them up.
Eh.
The next Excelsior isn't even coming into service until 2317Q1. There's no reason to keep the crew hanging around doing nothing that long, and mechanically it's more beneficial to boost three ships by +1 than to boost one ship by +2.

After having spent some time looking over prototyping and some new ships in other fleets, I'd be amenable to allowing that, especially as the lessons learned from Excelsiors in LBZ/GBZ are examined.

So wait, what happened to the surviving crew of the Daedalus Enterprise?

Came back on the Lion.

Agreed. I'd like to put them all on the next Excelsior that completes and send them right back out on another 5YM. If everyone wants to, of course.

Or let them in on the design and implementation work for the next Enterprise?
Basically give them the option to help the next Ambassador Enterprise to be even better, and they would begin another 5 YM on it.

I vote to split the crew. Put them on our three greenest EC ships, not counting Captain Dudebro's since that'll level up fast enough on its own.

Can we even do that?

EDIT: apparently, we can. Let's do that.

I'd quite like to do this; any Enterprise will tend to end up pretty heavily modified anyway, so building it in the prototype stage shouldn't be much of an issue. Hopefully.
OTOH, it feels a bit gamebreaking to build two at once and get a time discount.

It might also be somewhat intimidating to other Federation enemies, such as the Syndraxians or the Cardassians - "they declared war and it was over in six months with few losses"

Even if not, knowing you, you're not going to exploit your conquest. Did you enjoy your little war? Because we did."

We should use our PP bonus to get a heavy industry park in Sol so that between that and Chen pur prototype Ambassadores will just fly out of the yards in no time at all.

Ok, since it's mechanically possible let's look at how we can make it work. We need two free 3mt berths at the same shipyard and quite a lot of SR.

UP has just started two Excelsior-A builds so the only real option for the shipyard is 40 Eridani A. It has the prepairs/refits of the Endurance and the Sourjourner scheduled to start next quarter in the 3mt berths, so we need to move those eslewhere. Lor'Vela berth A is open so we can move one of those there, SF berth A opens up in a quarter so that means a bit of a delay.

As for SR, I think we need to make a snake-pit request next year, either Excelsior resource request or a new option. Hopefully we can start in Q1 despite not enough resources being available. If we can trade something for SR in the MWCO turn that would help a lot, too.

I'd like to do the opposite. Let's make Sarek and Courageous into Elite ships, boost S'harien up to Blooded.
S'Harien is Blooded.
I'd vote to pump S'Harien to Veteran, Odyssey and Voshov to Blooded.
I guess I could compromise and swap Odyssey for Sarek. But I personally feel like it's more useful to get as many ships performing better as possible, rather than to have the best ships perform even better.

The Odyssey should have made a lot of progress towards blooded status already, would assigning one +1 bonus have her start at zero progress towards veteran or would she keep the progress?

How would the splitting up of the crew work mechanically? The Explorer crew pool is adjusted and the selected ships get +1 crew rating?

Ferasa Sector – Requires D12
  • 2316.Q3- 1 Excelsior-A (6) [Sojourner], 1 Centaur-A (3) [Bull], Starbase I (5) = 14D
Rigel Sector – Requires D9
  • 2316.Q3 – 1 Excelsior-A (6) [Endurance], 1 Constellation (3) [Selaya] Starbase I (5) = 14D

Why are you keeping our Excelsior-As outside the GBZ? I'd rather send them to the active warzone than guarding Ferasa and Rigel.

I'd also suggest swapping Docana and Sappho, and sending Sappho in for refit. Docana's already Blooded, and this way Vulcan and Andor both have a responder with P3/S3 (Winterwind and Docana, respectively).

Maybe we should name a new Excelsior Miracht, give it the old Enterprise crew and see if it survives.

But seriously, I think we need to have at least one veteran ship. The utility value is immense. Does anyone remember sending the Enterprise in to hack a cardassian listening post?

Because Excelsior-As are better for Event response than for fighting in active warzones. They're more expensive to repair and that godly Presence score just doesn't matter that much.

I actually prioritize Blooded ships for refits, because that way their bonuses are even higher... Though no lie, if we build two Ambassadors next year I may have to cancel some of the planned refits.

Plan on us going two ambassadors. What does that put us at resource wise?

[X] Plan 2315.Q3 to 2316.Q3 Fleet Distribution

Also for splitting crew, green ones would work best in my view since they have the most trouble passing events, then blooded then veteran.

Edit:
Actually, Courageous is the refit model? I would say then give the two greens (not Stargazer) a +1 and Courageous a +1 to make it Elite on the Excelsior-A platform. That helps our two newest ships pass events more often and gives us a top of the line explorer ship for when we need something done.
