@Simon_Jester any reason for Andorians rather than Tellarite Engineers?

Everybody who answered this question is right. I'd be reluctant to tap into Andorian assets MORE than this (because it puts their war support in the 80s), but by contrast we've already pushed Tellar and Earth down into the 120s/130s, and we're likely to push them farther with further mobilization before this is over. And then their fleets start taking casualties.

If we keep this up long enough we can easily create a situation where Andor supports the war more strongly than Earth/Tellar, at which point the politics of the war start turning inside-out.

We could buy two engineering teams I suppose.
I'm allergic to this in part because I don't want us to run out of components for the stuff we're building. Having a bunch of engineering teams and few heavy industry teams is, well... given that the Sappho crew is having a reunion in the Licori Border Zone, I'll just compare it to skipping leg day.

Can we have the doctrine guy focus on studying the tech-ship doctrine and how best to counter it?
I'm sure we can, but that's a subject for our next vote. Fortunately we're almost certain to get an opportunity to do that, because it looks like Ablett is a shoo-in for winning the vote.

@OneirosTheWriter not really relevant now but for later turns, if we have mobilization points and we don't spend them do they build up? I could see situations where we'd want to take our teams off increasing mobilization but have emergency mobilization funds available. Starting next turn it's possible we won't want to spend to the cap anyway, in order to preserve war support.

"Grayg Turtmann, Rigellian Free Press. Captain Chad, before you were made Captain of the USS A'Tuin, you commanded the USS Sappho. What do you think was your greatest achievement during your command of that vessel?"

"While I sat in the Captain's chair, no member of my crew skipped leg day. Not even once."

"I uh"

"This came in particularly handy when Lieutenant Commander T'Zen held the warp core coolant injectors in place with the power of her UNSTOPPABLE QUADS after we got hit by that subspace filament. Nothin' but those toned beauties between us and antimatter annhilation."

"Okay wait"

"Or when Ensign Dawne'teelo deadlifted an entire bulkhead back into place. I've never been prouder."

the truth of that +1H bonus revealed.

With another external team, we can try to push Kad Peddath relationship in parallel with working with them, or we can try to keep talking with the Licori as we fight, or try to push specific houses for an eventual deal.

Rear Admiral Eaton's forces are already on the move, her Task Forces pushing out to see if they can draw out the Licori forces. Apparently so far, no dice, but if they don't come out to play, her paths will allow her to cut off Gammon from the rest of the Empire. Gammon, you are told, is where the first stroke will fall. Eaton wants to draw its defenders away, as even on their own a Starbase is a dreadful opponent, and she fully expects to lose ships in the process.

War sucks. Whelp, it'll free up some names to use for Ambassador class ships.

Win fast, win cheaply, secure lasting peace. The public want all three but your experience tells you that it's going to be a case of pick two.

Rationally, it should be "win cheaply" and "secure lasting peace" but we may have to sub in "win fast" for "win cheaply".

Current War Support:
Starfleet - 155pt
United Earth SPA - 130pt
Vulcan High Command - 51pt
Tellarite State Forces - 123pt
Betazed Defence Forces - 45pt
Rigel Defence Force - 99pt
Andorian Guard - 97pt
IT of Gaen - 150pt

Pretty much a given that we need to assign the freed up internal diplomacy team to raising Betazed war support. Not only are they the lowest, but they also may lose ships in battle.

-Task Force 6, Naval Supervisor Anak Hadd-Banad
--IGS Hadd-Mal, Gaeni Tech-Cruiser, Senior Naval Specialist Kant Tarkoia-Mal
--IGS Pall-Keat, Gaeni Tech-Cruiser
--IGS Tar-Anat, Gaeni Tech-Cruiser
--IGS Akad-Noa, Gaeni Tech-Cruiser
--IGS Fadath-Toir, Gaeni Tech-Frigate, Mid-Senior Naval Specialist Loia Maladd-Toir
--IGS Hidik-Daya, Gaeni Tech-Frigate
--IGS Nuoth-Far, Gaeni Tech-Frigate

In case you missed it, there are the Gaeni forces. Looks like they committed pretty heavily. That's the majority of their tech cruisers and half their Tech-Frigates.

ALWAYS GO FOR MAXIMUM REPS

Part of me keeps hoping Kell-Nac Seven will show up. He was a mid-senior researcher of engineering back in '09, and was a key figure in the Gaeni's... misguided... attempt to do a hybrid repair/refit on Courageous the LAST time the ship wound up in the hospital.

He's the guy Leslie unleashed his inner Wrath of the Redshirt on in This Shuddering Heart.

IIRC the last time one of your omake characters got wrapped up in Gaen business in an update, they got blown the fuck up.

This does not bode well for Kell-Nac Seven, as by definition he brings Gaen business with him. :V

What with Devas and Asuras, April 2017 is already an extremely bad month to be a Simon_Jester original character. Given what actually happened to the Endurance's crew, my benchmark for that story is a 50% or higher death rate among original characters of my own creation. And everyone I'm sure makes it is a character that I, one way or another, didn't make up.

However, Petty Officer Rebok, formerly of the Sappho and possibly the only Vulcan bodybuilder we've seen yet, might make it. :D

[He was seen, but not named, in the narrative]

EDIT: I'm considering aiming for a 50% death rate among named characters overall, which is a bit more challenging and extremely hard on my OCs because I'm so somewhat reluctant to kill off people someone else named.

One solution to this is to have a flashback before your next Devas and Asuras, introduce us to a cast of colorful and fun characters, and then brutally murder them all in the next update. It's sort of cheating but not really!

Welp, unpopular war is a go!

Interesting that Rigel hasn't bumped up their mobilization level yet.

Fleet Units

Fleet Units

Starships and other assets that you can use to supplement your forces, create new task forces, replace losses, or reinforce attacks.
Recon Units

Recon Units

Supplementary patrol units that you can attach to your starbases, outposts, and fleet units.
Internal Diplomacy

Internal Diplomacy

Assets that you can employ to help bolster links between member worlds, or shore up flagging support. They can also be used to increase the rate with which you are able to mobilise assets, though that may become a double-edged sword.
External Diplomacy

External Diplomacy

Assets that you can employ to conduct relations with other nearby powers, such as the Ked Paddah, the Honiani, the Laio, the Gaeni, and others.
Engineering Teams

Engineering Teams

Field deployable units consisting of Engineering Ships, construction crews, and the like. They are capable of conducting operations abroad in unsettled systems.
Heavy Industry

Heavy Industry

You need heavy industry to provide extra boosts to ship production, repair, to produce the components necessary for constructing stations, outposts, and starbases.
Doctrine Specialists

Doctrine Specialists

All doctrines are plans, and no plan survives first contact with the enemy. War is the most unforgiving task master, so you best learn what works and doesn't work quickly.

Do you plan to fill this accordion out with the mobilized assets? Otherwise, there's not much point to using an accordion thingy for just a couple sentences per slide.

War sucks. Whelp, it'll free up some names to use for Ambassador class ships.

Man is this the worst sort of silver lining you can get lol

Enterprise-B gone up in flames? Well now we can have an Enterprise-C!

:D

...

I'm going to start making omakes that are like, "I name 20 people as they take a walk in the park and highlight those names later in the database."

PREVIEW NAMES: Kannan Fauder, Dis P'sable, Reddeck Shirt,

EDIT: by sheer weight of numbers eventually you'd have Admiral Dedmahn Walkin, Commander Starfleet.
