As others have already said, could be worse. So unless the Licori war finishes unexpectedly quickly and we can move in reinforcements from there, here is what Starfleet will have in the Gabriel Border Zone over the next year. We are basically all the way to 2314.Q4 now

Gabriel Border Zone – Requirement Left to Starfleet judgment
  • 2314.Q4 - 1 Excelsior (6) [Avandar], 4 Constitution-B (20) [Korolev, Defiant, Exeter, Saratoga], 4 Miranda-A (8) [T'Kumbra, Agile, Bantam, Clarion] = 38 C.
  • 2315.Q1 - 1 Excelsior (6) [Avandar], 6 Constitution-B (30) [Korolev, Defiant, Exeter, Saratoga, Republic, Valiant], 4 Miranda-A (8) [T'Kumbra, Agile, Bantam, Clarion] = 48 C.
  • 2315.Q2 - 2 Excelsiors (6) [Avandar, Kumari], 7 Constitution-B (35) [Korolev, Defiant, Exeter, Saratoga, Republic, Valiant, LOCF Build], 1 Constellation [Challorn], 4 Miranda-A (8) [T'Kumbra, Agile, Bantam, Clarion] = 64 C.
  • 2315.Q3 - 2 Excelsiors (6) [Avandar, Kumari], 7 Constitution-B (35) [Korolev, Defiant, Exeter, Saratoga, Republic, Valiant, LOCF Build], 1 Constellation [Challorn], 7 Miranda-A (14) [T'Kumbra, Agile, Bantam, Clarion, Fidelity, Bon Vivant, Shield] = 73 C.
  • Notes: Challorn, Kumari, Republic, and Fidelity out for repair. As of 2314.Q2.M2 battle Valiant, Bon Vivant, and Shield out for repair. Saratoga returns in Q4. Republic and Valiant return in 2315.Q1. Kumari and Challorn return in 2315.Q2. Fidelity, Bon Vivant, and Shield return in 2315.Q3.
You can see it'll be a year before Ainsworth is really back up to full fighting strength, and that assumes no more damage in the meantime. The only really good news is that no ships were lost, so she'll get them all back eventually. Probably. Unless we pull them for something more urgent.

The good news is that the apiata GBZ fleet is back at full strength, and the amarki should be finishing their own repairs at the same rate as us. Meanwhile, the cardassians have their own repairs to make after the mauling the apiata gave them, and the sydraxians are down for the count.

Unless the cardassians manage to get the dylaarians or goshawnar to aid them in offensive operations, I'm not too worried.

I have to say that if I were the commander of the Cardassians in the GBZ now would be the perfect moment to go on the offensive (providedie they know of the Licori campaign which seems likely considering previrus activities of their intelligence agencies).
The probe last "year" gives them a nearly perfect impression of our capabilities and resources and with their colony up and running (and Iikely well fortified) they have a perfect base to strike back from, or to fall back on if necessary.

Get the two northern clients to join in and it should be possible to assemble a significantly bigger force.

Indeed now that I think of it I would be quite disappointed if we don't get amessage from Ainsworth that she is under attack and needs reinforcements from the Western fed members.

The cardassians lost a ship and have several under going repairs for the coming quarter. As it is I am hoping the Apiata rotate an additional little queen ship and 2 stingers in to beef up forces

That bit about "get the two northern clients to join in" is key. If they can't do that, then we determined their odds of putting together a truly overwhelming force are much lower.

They already did that, minus the "rally the coreward clients" bit. The apiata ambushed their attack fleet and damaged a bunch of their ships.

The cardassians are in basically the same situation as us right now. They need to either get reinforcements from their more ambivalent clients or wait for their repairs to finish before they can make another push.

Expensive quarter! That criminal raid on our sr stockpile did not help

Also this quarter and last quarter I believe we took options that cost is 10 PP each. I know one was prepping against casualties

Edit: missed the Challorn and Exeter which were damaged last quarter but cost and repair time were given this quarter

In my eyes this was less of an offensive and more of a probe in force whose main objective was to screen the Sydraxian evacuation and maybe, if circumstances were right, capitalises on our forces being still disorganized from the attack. Now though the strategic situation has changed significantly which in my opinion makes it entirely believable and logical that Cardassian command would try its hardest to assemble strikeforce capable of booting us out of the GBZ or at least seriously hurting our operations there. The benefits from such an action are in my eyes simple to good for them not to take advantage (provided the Cardassians are not currently busy with something else) and well worth whatever it takes to convince their clients to join in.

Their kaldur was likely knocked into repair for two quarters and two more ships in for a quarter of repairs in addition they lost a ship. If they wait for the kaldur that would be q2 next year and we will have a lot of strength back. As it is for the coming quarter I imagine we will be playing defensive letting our repairs finish.

Why did people vote for 2310s Escort - Engineering again? It's a completed frame?
Because we moved generic team 3 to hospital ship design where it had been working on that and you have progress to both, this is to correct that as it should not have finished then.

You're missing 1 tech casualty on the Valiant.

Other than that, your tallies match mine.

AFAIK, there was only one 10pp cost option that we took, and that happened in EAS.

edit: Oh yeah, the SF Ops reorg also cost 10pp

Prepping for casualties and then reorganizing Starfleet Operations, at -10pp each.

But the Starfleet Operations was a deal. It could have cost three times that in the Snakepit.

How much of this are you predicating on the Licori war? Because even though that's been very visible to us, it hasn't really kicked off yet and probably won't until Q1 of next year. Considering it's on the other side of the Federation from the Cardassians, I don't think they'll be confident to act on anything until they have confirmation our ships are actually fighting. So I'd expect to see a Cardassian attack maybe Q2 next year, but I doubt any sooner.

Something to keep in mind is that while the CDF is much, much larger than just the Gabriel fleet, the fact that they haven't sent more ships suggests that they probably can't, or at least couldn't at the time.

Like us, the Cardassian Union is a sprawling polity with its fingers in a lot of pies. They probably don't have the same D requirements as us due to being a military junta, but their borders are probably much more dangerous due to their less diplomatic foreign policy, and they probably have hostile minor powers to fend off just like we do. For all we know, they could even have something like the Licori War going on.

We can't depend on this, of course, but neither can we assume that all of their ships are available to be thrown at us at all times. Because if we do the latter, there's no point in even fighting for Gabriel, they've already won.

Something I'd like to get next we have a chance is a Sydraxian diplomatic posture report. The question over whether they're genuinely done or whether they're building for revenge, Celos be damned, is important.

I was checking forces and the Amarkia have an escort Tf of 3 ships deployed to the GBZ so they can be used if the Cardassians move in force. And with general repairs done to the lighlty damaged ships from Celos they should be ready. Hopefully they sent the damaged ships back to Amarkia and sent replacements for them to get their strength back to full.

And UESPA was pushing to get yellow lighted for the GBZ but is now tied up with the Licori... the sooner we deal with them the sooner we can get more members involved in the GBZ

I think you had also shorted us in some other technology slide and he was asking about that too.

I believe that was 2310s Affiliates Research, which Oneiros already fixed. Unless you're talking about something else.

But that was critically important to fix, because it should guarantee completion and thus the extra +0.05 crew/yr per affiliate. With our 9 affiliates, and the expected +0.2 crew/yr from EPS Console Taps I finishing, we should get a total of +0.65 crew/yr from this research year.

All of it? And I think the debate over this issue as well as the movement of those ships is public enough for the Cardassians to be quite confident to strike as soon as it becomes strategically viable.

I think that mistake you make is equalling a long term deployment over a relatively limited offensive. In case of the former you are probably right - they can't endlessly reinforce the GBZ without showing weakness elsewhere. But in regards to a "quick" attack on our bases I think the situation is different and that they should be well able to mobilise significant additional forces. They didn't before since we could relatively easily copied that move resulting in a typical arms race in the GBZ that benefited nobody. Now however they know that our ability to quickly reinforce the GBZ is limited to a massive redeployment of forces eastwards which in my eyes makes a quick attack a very tempting idea.

Caldonia reports an economic shift from Pacifist to Peacetime Economic settings amid continued problems with fractious pseudoscience cults. They are believed to be consulting with the Andorian government to learn more about the Renaissance and the possibility of licensing the design.

Amarkia reported to be in a blind panic with all four Hebrindas either in refit or in repair.

Orion is still attempting to restart their flagging domestic shipbuilding industry, and have begun upgrading two berths at Alukk to 800kt to be able to accommodate Miranda-As and Centaur-As for repair, or even construction.

Remember that the Cardassians need to commit fleets to keep their vassals in line. Some of those vassals will sabotage the Cardassians if given a chance.

Look at what the Konen just did. UFP diplomancers show up to talk to a straegically positioned neutral party, and they do jack and shit. They don't even make any noise about our explorers screwing with their telepathic discussions with the Ashidi via technobabble.

They were handed an EXCELLENT chance to poison our relations with the Ashidi by pointing out that we were trying to keep them the from talking with the Konen and didn't even try.

In an actual war I'd expect the Konen to screw with the Cardassians as much as they can get away with. And if we were to smash through to their space and shoot up the garrison fleet? They'd probably outright switch sides.

So I just noticed something. Oneiros apparently forgot that the Avandar was damaged as badly as the Kumari in the Battle at Lora, yet we were neither billed repair costs nor had to find a berth to repair her in:
