And it's tied again
Sphere is 2 ahead, killerofa23 just didn't put theirs into same format.
One ahead as of xpentakill's vote, 63+1 : 63Sphere is 2 ahead, killerofa23 just didn't put theirs into same format.
I really don't quite get where this attitude that Sayle is deliberately giving us some sort of trap or obviously bad choices comes from. I'd be happy if either saucer or sphere wins.If I'm right and this ends up compromising the class' longevity I'm going to be extremely annoyed.

This is the first of an entirely new generation of starships, built to advance the cutting edge of our technology. It's not second-line and it can't be second-line unless we skip out on doing prototypes entirely.Counterpoint to the above, this ship is solidly second line straight out the gate. It does not need to be super capable.
Dont forget, we arent suddenly burdened with every single duty in Federation Space, the Vulcan, Andorian, AND Tellarite fleets are all pulling their weight.
No. It's a smaller hull that has less internal space, so there won't be as much room for science labs, extra computer cores, and the like. It is objectively going to have a lower possible Science score than the Full Saucer.in my mind an ORB for pondering hull is the best way to ponder science.
ORB, ORB, ORB!!!!!
I'd like to do the phaser prototype if its available, but otherwise agreed.
"New but few."I'd like to do the phaser prototype if its available, but otherwise agreed.
I'm down with picking whatever the cheapest torpedo option is, barring some sort of new prototype (very unlikely). The real armament question is whether we want to bother with torpedoes or not. In the last round we favoured torpedoes over phasers because our prototypes had a lucky break, but now that we have a new generation of phasers, maybe that's not necessary. And phasers would be a lot easier on supply lines than torpedoes on a survey ship, I feel.
I'd like at least one tube, not only will it help with the ship being better able to defend itself, but the torpedo tubes are the same way ships launch many different types of probe. I do think one tube is something it needs, but I could be convinced to forgo it if I see a good argument why.The real armament question is whether we want to bother with torpedoes or not. On the other hand, a single torpedo launcher would be a good way to ensure this can crack something annoying open and it's not that much more expensive than a phaser.

The other way to launch probes is the shuttle bay. Depends on the type of probe, ultimately.I didn't think about the probes, that's a solid argument for never going lower than one tube on science ships.
