[X] Four Engines (Medium Maneuverability, 23 -> 31 Industry)

I will not deny that the all but confirmation we could've gotten high maneuverability with a half saucer has made me incredibly salty remembering the rhetoric of that vote.

Cheaping out because we might not need the ship post war and will eventually replace it is... interesting but from an in universe perspective it makes no sense to me.

This isn't a border skirmish where we can afford to save costs on. If we lose it is quite literally human extinction. The Romulans attempted genocide on earth in the first real engagement of the war.

Saving so we can make something better in the future is... a nice Idea I guess, if we weren't literally fighting for our survival as a species.

Could the Bulwark design be reused in the future when we have greater industry with whatever modifications needed as a science/explorer clsss?

Low maneuverability just sounds like a bad idea...

Agnostic on this vote, though post-war obsolescence is something that can be mediated with a function and role sufficiently different from "bigger NX." I know a lot of people wanted a "burst DPS" dreadnought, but what I might consider instead a "buffer/sustainment" dreadnought might have a lot more post-war relevance. Certainly plenty of durability and firepower is needed to serve as a shield for the fleet, but extra cargo space, shuttles, medical facilities, machine shops, and the like could make the "mobile starbase" concept have a lot of staying power inside the Federation for humanitarian and development aid.

Tentatively suggesting naming such a Dreadnought the Aegis-class, given its role. It'd also be a sort of statement about the values of Earth. Though I suppose there's still a while to go to see what the design ultimately evolves into.

Perhaps it will be more expensive. But I'd like to give them a better chance to survive, and engines are the best method in lieu of shield generators. Crew are just as important as ships for us, Starfleet Personnel are among the most hard working and driven parts of humanity, and that crew loss is incalculable losses in knowhow.
