Expect we apparently can't relay on fleet battles beings thing at least some questers mentioned that so 10x feels like a must

Yeah, fleet actions have been called out continuously as something that's going to become rarer - plus, with the intended long ranged role of the ship even if that wasn't the case this ship is significantly likely to face individual/small group combat when transiting.

I mean this is exactly what maneuverability is supposed to cover. Blind spots are not going to be as painful because it's faster than average and they are very evenly spaced.

Remember the canon Connie was the slower battlewagon(at medium 180kt) for that version of Starfleet and they were thrilled with 18% coverage. We're faster than that because we have medium maneuverability for the 150K bracket.

This thing is still going to eat things alive once we add the torpedoes.

honestly if 100% coverage is themost important consideration someone has, they should vote:

[ ] 10 Phaser Banks (Type II) [Damage 24] [100% Coverage]

If it's not, then:

[ ] 6 Phaser Banks (Type V) [Damage: 32] [60% Coverage]

Should be more than good enough.

Didn't you argue against the extra engines because you said that the torpedoes would be useless even with them?

No I argued against the engines because I'd rather have spent for 10 phasers/full coverage instead of extra speed and quad nacelles. We wouldn't be so close to dreadnought territory without those extraneous extras.

But we spent the money on engines and maneuverability, so I'm okay with cutting phasers because I believe it won't actually hurt the ship. I work with what gets voted AND can display consistency in my frugality. :V

Two factors
Type 5s is not just about the Feddie, but about Starfleet as a whole; we need to push that edge to catch up technologically
100% coverage is only about this ship

With the Klingon treaty ending in 15 years, we cant afford technological complacency

Imo that translates to "no, 100% Coverage is not the most important thing." Wherein six Type 5's should be enough.

The less ships we build, the less the technology advances. Six Type-V Phasers is the optimal combination for technological progression.

Whilst I'm in favour of 100% coverage I'm also more in favour of getting the firepower of our individual phasers, an important aspect of this design (and all the future designs that will benefit from our choices here), up. It doesn't matter if we have 100% coverage if we're shooting with squirt guns.

Hence why I'm voting for both type v options right now.
And editing out the 6x since either way type v will win.

[ ] 6 Phaser Banks (Type V) [Damage: 32] [60% Coverage] [Cost: 129]
[X] 10 Phaser Banks (Type V) [Damage 32] [100% Coverage] [Cost: 149]

We're getting our money's worth out of the double engines this way.

Also unrelated to the current vote, I kind of hate the quad-nacelle rollbar.

It feels like the lower pair of nacelles are gonna be all wobbly, they really need a strut coming off the engineering hull to hold them in place.
