Turn 87 (May 1981)
Turn 87 (May 1981)

"Ladies and gentlemen of Congress, I have been called here today to answer the fears and hysteria of reactionary crowd to one of our television shows that was met with heavy popular reception and support. Now, I can understand and sympathize with some of the base fears of our critics, as a father of three I want what's best for my children and for them to grow up into upstanding people. However, the response to such concerns should never be blanket authoritarian censorship with the erasure of the past and disregard for other nation's cultures."

That was one helluva a way to start this, and it caused congressmen, nay, the whole room seemed to be swallowed, captivated by your words, and they were sitting up, because you were not looking for anything but destruction and dissemination of this fear.

You continued. "When Classical Tale was created, it was created with the goal of educating children about the diversity and rich culture and tradition that is spread across our world but so many children will never come into contact with in person. It's a saga of storytelling and the human experience throughout the ages that is meant to inspire the creativity and imagination of those watching and grow as more educated experienced people, mindful of the many different viewpoints and beliefs they may come into contact with as they venture into the greater world."

And it made you angry. Hell, it made you even more angry than anything than you could possibly feel… well other than that moment of fear and terror on that night. What you despised, however, above all else was ignorance.

And what was happening here was the paramount of that ignorance. These people were not the representatives of the people but people wishing for the votes.

"In adapting the second season of Classical Tale, our storytellers tried to be as respectful and faithful to the Norse mythology of old to share what generations past were told for a modern audience. If we had sanitized the Canon then it would have lost all its complexities, themes, and narrative impact just for the delicate sensitivities of a few."

That was what you were fighting against. Because even if you failed at one thing, you always viewed the stories you helped create, even though money and making sure it had the resources to be made…

"The violence present is not meant for shock value or to celebrate in the existence of conflict. It's to deliver important messages on heroism, the cycle of life, the nature of good and evil, the flaws of humanity, the question of what is right and how to live. Through this, the audience learns of how a culture received such lessons and lived their lives, and can take their personal experiences and grow and learn as people. The violence provides context to the morals and a vehicle for the stories to deliver their impact."

You thought for a moment one of the congressmen would speak, to say something to stop you, but you only glared daggers at them, and there was silence. This was important to you, and to many others like it.

"Some may be uncomfortable at such a presentation and it is their right to dislike or not watch the program. However, their personal objections should not be forced as wholesale censorship in defense of a fantasy that children will never know hardship or experience nuance and complications. The most popular faith in our nation teaches in its most important and sacred belief that the son of God suffered and died on the cross for our sins. Are we to censor Bibles because of such violence? Should children be banned from Churches until they are 18 because the Passion is a violent passage in spite of it being about redemption, sacrifice, and love? The themes presented are more complex than traditional animation to be sure, but the reason we tell such stories is because at Dreamworks we recognized that children are intelligent and curious people who deserve to be treated with respect in their entertainment instead of talking down to them as if they have no mind or character of their own or tricking them. The traditional belief in animation from a layman's perspective is that it's kiddy art and not deserving of effort or complexity. Is it not the fact that they are children, the future of our nation, our beloved sons and daughters, that we should endeavor to create and share with them impactful stories of high quality and creativity that will stick with them as they grow older and help them to become wonderful and outstanding individuals?"

God, you hoped that was the case.

Your father always taught you that sometimes, there can be time for many things. Thee just needed to be a time or place.

"Does that mean that we should try and speak about anything and everything to a child? No, there are understandable limits, but it does mean that neither should we treat them as small idiots who cannot understand the difference between reality and fiction. Furthermore, that is something a parent should do, to make them understand what they are watching and which behaviors should be imitated and emulated and what they should abstain and recognize as wrong. Keep the government out of the family home and let parents and children communicate with one another, understand and grow through shared experiences."

And when you finished, you sat down.

There was much more you wanted to say. But that would do.
-----------------------------

Well, Congress did something right once in a blue moon.

"PBS funding increased by a 25% in the next five years."

Reward: You have singlehandedly killed a censorship bill, and not only that, nearly doubled PBS' funding.

You may also have caused the team for the next season of Classical Tales to increase in quality by a +50.

It will be a massive increase.

Turn 87 results (May-June 1981)
Turn 87 results (May-June 1981)

-[X]The Man Who Would Make Dune: Francis Ford Coppola smirked as he and Mike sat at the meeting table. "Well I thought that we would wait for the action plan, but Francis won't take a no for an answer." DC: 20 Rolled:D100 => 81

You and Mike both looked at each other, then towards Francis. "Alright, shoot Francis, why are you making things so difficult and why do you want to begin pre-production now?" You asked.

"Simple, Star Wars is coming and I need to be able to get that done before you and George and Steve become engrossed in it." Francis replied.

"But that's the problem, this kind of pre-production can take years-" You started before mike threw down binder of concept art.

And then Francis showed two more. Including the script.

Oh… it was like with George. "How long have you been working on this?"

"On and off… bout a year," Francis said as he smiled, and you thought this man was insane. "Turns out when filming wrapped early with that devil film, I had a lot of extra time on my hand before post-production was finished. So for those two months prior to finishing the project, after I got the work done there, it just became, not an obsession but a job. One that I think we can do."

You frowned and looked to Mike. "Don't tell me you agree with this?"

"He's very persuasive," Mike replied. "And it would be another feather in the cap if we succeeded. And we will succeed."

"And what part do I play in this?" You asked.

"Producer for one thing." Francis said. "Steve said your good luck. And I have the perfect role for you, given your reputation."

Oh no. "Please tell me we're not going to be-"

"Yes, we are." He said with a smile.

You then saw Denis Murin at the door. "We got those schematics ready."

Oh no. "You have everyone?" you asked.

"Everyone," Francis said.

Oh no, this was going to be something.

Reward: Pre Production of Dune has begun. Dune actions are now available. You have been made producer and need to help Mike and Francis.

All of ILM has been mustered for this film.

And according to Mike, the budget is over 55 million dollars.

And Francis is going all out on this.
---------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Voice of Bruce on Animation: "Wow, you guys are really doing something special… whats with the cameras?" DC: 30 Rolled:D100 => 59

Tomino was smiling at the cameras. "Wait what with the cameras?" You asked.

"Well-" Don then looked to Tomino. "We wanted to show everyone how we do things for a first time voice actor. To help train and to make things easier on the production side, and to make people more comfortable with the booth and how we do things."

"And you are using me as a guinea pig?" You asked.

"Yes, because if you can do it, anyone can." Tomino said as he gave a smile.

SP:D100 => 80

Eh… maybe.

Reward: You did your lines for Gundam, and than… well it was that. You didn't think you did a very good job.
---------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]George Lucas and John Lasseter and the Cold War in the Office: Don. John. Now is not the time to start doing things stupid. "George help me out here!" DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 87

John and Don were both at each other's throats. "This is not animation, animation requires actual talent!"

"No, this is talent, just like artistic pursuits, it just requires a different medium of expression!"

George and you were sitting in this room watching those two argue. "George, we should we do something?"

"I'm just waiting for them to stop, but they've been at it for two hours." George said.

This was getting boring. "Gentlemen!"

Both men stopped. "Listen, I understand at least somewhat, where the tension lies." You then looked towards John. "You are doing something so cutting edge, that we barely have a word for it, and honestly, that is quite fine because we're still trying to figure out where it goes. But you can't claim that it can kill hand-drawn animation like that."

"Don, there is nothing wrong with tradition, but you can't just stop the usage of technology because you think it isn't right. With your way of thinking that is."

"So both of you just get along, before I send you to Japan Don, and keep you there."

You sighed. God, you needed that.

Reward: You stopped the two of them from tearing the company apart through sheer will.

George was impressed.
--------------------------------------------

-[X]Basil of Baker Street: You look at the boys and smiled. "Mary's going to love this." DC: 30 Rolled:D100 + 20 => 102

Well now, that was… something else.

Take that Disney!

(Continued in Basil of Baker Street)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Distributing Deals: Since you have a Distribution Company, or rather, are one… You can meet the major movie theater companies and strike a Deal with them. Even when you had nothing to offer them. DC: ???
--[X] Romania. Accident. Rolled:D100 + 20 => 36

Mike was actually pushing for this to wait until next month, or later on in a less busy month, so that other films could released.

AKA… he's after that money, and wants nothing more than to keep it from screwing up Lucasfilms films…

Failure.
---------------------------------------------------

-[X]Getting Control of our Lives: Carrie frowned as she looked at you. "I had a dream last night. About what my life would be without you." Rolled:D100 + 30 => 101
"I had a dream last night. About what my life would be without you." She said as you both lay next to each other in bed.

"You don't have to say that, I'm here." You said.

"But you weren't and that was the worst thing that could have happened." She said. "I was so lost, and even though I had some success it was never stable or good, and the many brief moments of happiness were fleeting."

She hugged you. "I was afraid."

And you could say only one thing. "I love you."

"I know."

Reward: Carrie is alright. Thank goodness.
------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Mary vs NASA: So Mary and Mike have been trying their best to do something fun. That fun being, they might have revolutionized space travel. Well Mary did. DC: 50 Rolled:D100 => 99

You looked at Mary's box and realized that she had drawn a rocket.

And it was a detailed schematics that she was still carefully drawing on and expanding, and almost everything was impossible to meet.

Yet… there was something else. The NASA people called Mary the brightest and smartest computer they had ever seen, and she possessed an almost innate knowledge of problem-solving, because she had no preconception or notion of what is right or wrong.

She just saw something on TV one night, and then she solved one of the greatest problems currently known in space travel.

A newer, more robust… space rocket. And Mike knew about it, because of course he did, your daughter trusted him a lot with things that were seemingly groundbreaking and impossible.

You sat down with her and smiled. "Mary, why did you make this box of rocket schematics?"

Mary smiled. "It's a secret daddy!" She said.

"But is it a secret that you want to keep for yourself?" You asked.

"No." She said, looking down at her feet. "But I wanted to wait until after star wars to show you it."

"But why would you want to do that, was that Mike who wanted to do it?" You asked.

"Yeah, he said that it would be a great big… boon." She struggled to find the words.

You sighed and knew Mike was going to be the death of you. Or at very least the reason you have grey hait. "But why did you make it?"

"I don't know?" she asked.

You frowned. "You don't know why you wanted to make a spaceship?" You asked.

"I want to go to space, and I think they can send me to space!" She said with a smile. "If i help them, maybe I will."

At that you smiled. "I know you will."
-------------------------------------------------

The NASA people as you called them were looking at you and Mary as you sat them down. "I can't let you take the schematics, not yet at least." You stated.

"Your daughter has the possibility to revolutionize space travel and you say that you can't?" the leader asked. "How utterly-"

"It's because she thinks it isn't ready yet." You replied.

"It doesn't matter, because we can find the flaws-"

"No, you can't." You said. "Because if something goes wrong and people get hurt, she'll have to live with that. And i won't let her. Especially if she's wrong."

Mary looked at you. "Daddy, can I?"

"Sure Mary." You said.

Mary went onto her tiptoes and then pointed to the picture on the wall, that of a Nasa poster. "I want to be an astronaut, and when it's ready, I want you to make me a promise, I will be able to go to space!"

There was a chuckle. But it was one of good humor rather than malice.

"That will take a lot of work." the leader from NASA said.

"Daddy could do it." She smiled. "And if Daddy can do it, I can too."

Reward: NASA saw some of the prototype blueprints but Mary won't let them go, not until she thinks they are ready, and after Star Wars. Because she made a promise.

NASA knows she wants to be an astronaut… and they know she might make a damn good case for her to literally build her own rocket.

Also, NASA are calling her the most brilliant computer in the world…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Game Shows: You want to go on a Game show, you are sure that Lucille might get you in on one of them. DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 8

You thought that celebrity game shows were still a big thing. They are, but they didn't want you, because they were afraid the backlash would be… huge.

Failure.
---------------------------------------------------

-[X]A Well-Known Fan: So some really famous person is a fan of yours. Maybe you'll learn who they actually are. DC??? Rolled:D100 => 88

A Well known Fan: D20 => 14

You received a letter from one… James Cameron, an Indie Director who worked in UA, who is now part of Fox, working on something that is heavy and big on the effect.

Also, it had some no-names in it, so that was fun. But he said he was a massive fan, and really wanted to have a great time. See he was told that ILM wasn't able to work on his film, and of course, he begged in the letter, so you sent a team to help him.

Some fucking horror film.

But hey, you got a team to him.

Reward: James Cameron, while under contract, is a huge fan.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Investments: You want to invest your hard-earned cash into something that you feel will be a good return on investment. And as well as diversify your assets DC: 0 (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to invest in)
--[X] $50 Million. You want to survey the Los Angeles area and try and find some good apartment complexes to purchase. Your old complex has been doing great, and can see a lot of potential in the real estate market, not to mention providing some good quality homes for local renters. Rolled:D100 => 24

You are starting to think you made enemies within the LA area who really want you to keep out of expanding your assets.

They buried you in so much red tape and legal jargon, that the Lucasfilm legal team was scared.

Failure.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X] A Charitable Heart: You want to invest your newfound wealth. Maybe even save some lives while you are at it. (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to donate in)
--[X] O'Reilly Foundation. $30 million. This Memorial Day, you want to do something good for veterans by helping them connect with service animals who can provide physical or emotional support, especially for those suffering from PTSD. Work with the O'Reilly Foundation to rescue animals from shelters and help them find a purpose and good home with veterans. Rolled:D100 + 50 => 148

To think, it all began with a little bit of nudging to stop some animals from being killed in the LA area. Then there were the simple things that many kill shelters across America were still there, and they would be…

And those animals would not be able to help. Ir get help.

It took some calls, but it also took a lot of twisting of arms and money to get into the right campaign funds…

And telling PETA that you were trying to help animals, rather than… well let's just say you swore at one who came for your cat.

Anyway, when it was getting those animals back to America, or finding them, many of their handlers were distraught to find that many of them were just put into shelters and than given to them after they were retired, with a lot of them being killed.

But you managed to make things right, try to at least.

And most animal handlers who retired were able to get their animals back.

The ones that weren't were able to get new animals, new friends that could help them.

Reward: Your efforts have borne fruit.
--------------------------------

-[X]Modeling (Advertisements): Thankfully another Call Came in, one from an ad firm. They need you to have some pictures taken so that they are used for saner things. Like selling cars, or ice cream. DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 33

You blew off the modeling gig to be with your family.

Failure.
--------------------------------------------------------

-[X] Invite Mom and Dad over to California for some nice family time. Little Sarah and Joseph should get to know their namesakes and you can just have a nice small vacation. Rolled:D100 => 92
-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids! Rolled:D100 => 7

You looked at your parents as you smiled as the two toddlers waddled around. "So, how's it been?" You asked as you hugged your mom. "Sorry for not doing more calling."

"Oh it's fine, your father decided to use all the extra acting money he got to try and open up more Whales. And he thinks he'll succeed."

"I know I will, don't you think Sarah?" Your father said as he picked up Sarah and spun her around.

Charming. He was so full of life and unlike much of the other times he was around. Well it was like life was reinvigorating him. "Well? Dad loved the restaurant business, and learned a lot." You replied. "But… There seems to be a but. Whats going on?"

Your father continued to play with his grandchildren before your mom sighed. "Your father and I have been having some troubles."

"What kind?" You asked.

"I've been thinking about doing missionary work again." She said. "But your father thinks that's not the best idea."

"Dad not wanting missionary work? Who is he and what has happened to my father?" You joked.

"No it's just your father is getting old, and he's… having trouble keeping up." She replied.

"What happened, is it his back?" You asked.

"I don't know, but he's been getting weaker, and he's not slowing down to compensate. Well, he is now, but he's also… I don't know."

"Stubborn." You asked.

"Yeah. But I think he's overdoing it." She replied as he started carrying around the twins and facing off against Mary in her Dragon costume. "The whole slowing down."

"Maybe Dad has had too much adventure in his life. And it's catching up." You replied.

That earned a laugh. "I know. But I think he'll live forever." She said.

You both watched everything happen.

It was nice.

"Come on Bruce, I need some help capturing the dragon." Dad said as Mary was crawling all over him.

"And then I'll make some steak."

Reward: You and your parents spent time and it was nice. And you had a lovely dinner.

AN: enjoy.

Turn 88 (June 1981)

You and Carrie were looking at the newspapers, and you were trying your best to decide whether to throw them out, or to begin to start calling the Lawyers.

But the Headline said everything.

The Master of Fantasy and Sci-Fi creating a new Film? What will Bruce O'Brian do Next?

You looked to Carrie. "Really, Master of Sci-Fi, do I look like George!?" You complained. "Master of Fantasy maybe, if not for John Bor-"

"Considering most of the films that you have made or produced have been science fiction and Fantasy?" She offered. "Take the compliment."

Good point. "Carrie, do you think I'm typecasting myself for this kind of work?" You asked. "All the sci-fi and fantasy?

"Why are you asking me, I'm considered Oscar Bait. Any script I have or song I make might get nominated." She replied, and you found yourself smiling. The Academy did love Carrie, despite you…

Oh god. You shook your head. "Carrie is if production starts soon-"

Carrie smiled. "You think I'm going to be needing you if you galavant off in the Desert?"

"Thankfully not in Tunisia, according to Francis." You replied. "If you need anything-"

"I know." She then looked to Mary and the Twins. "I think I'll be fine."

You smiled. "It's going to be okay."

-[X]Casting Call (the Freman): You need to put out a casting call for the Freman. DC: 0 (Begin a Casting Miniturn)

Rolz for all three:D100 => 93

Half of Hollywood, along with most of the entire Western, Middle Eastern, and North African Film industry, is looking for a part to play in this sweeping Epic. Because they heard that Bruce O'Brian and Francis Ford Coppola are involved. And that meanest careers could be made.

Continued in: The Casting Call for everyone.
-----------------------------------------------

-[X]The Dune: You and Francis are going to look at numerous places that could be the Arakis or Dune. DC: 40/80 Rolled:D100 => 17

You looked at the three places that were to be used as Dune.

You see, There was old Faithful, Tunisia, and Egypt that would have loved to have the business, and of course, your money, flowing into their countries, as well as the great tourist attractions that you could probably build there.

However, the problems there were numerous, including the fact that after numerous films there, many crew members got sick with the runs and dysentery…. And the cost to build sets, along with your own experience on-location shoots…

You just didn't want to deal with the hassle of it.

Doing it in Arizona was another choice, and it was one that Steve brought up. Because of course he did, he said he had great experiences filming there when he was a kid. Except that Fancis didn't agree with that assessment.

He didn't think it was… "Foreign enough"

So you had to go to Mexico. Francis said he liked it far more than all the other locations. And you could see why. There were places where there was nothing but desolation and thebeating desert.

As well as it being close to actually air in or driving in new supplies without being at the mercy of… well, other problems.

Reward: You will be filming Dune's location scenes in Mexico.
------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Costumes: Herbert for his part, created incredibly detailed costumes in his book. And you are going to look at what the Lucasfilms Costume Department can do. DC: ???

Beautiful. Breathtaking, and futuristic. That was the simple way out of it. It took the costume designers only a few weeks, and lots of money, to create hundreds of costumes for the film, besides the simple fact that they saw the passion of Francis, and they decided that they were not going to half-ass it. Mostly because they know what might happen.

They would never hear the end of it.

Reward: Costume rolls increased.
-----------------------------------------

-[X]The Sets From Hell: So… You are looking at the pictures and wonder… how the absolute fuck are you going to do… any of this!? DC: 50/100 Rolled:D100 => 37

You should not have doubted ILM.

You really shouldn't have, because they took the Lot and the ideas, and ran with it in ways that were utterly ingenious. Like, you could see the stonework, the way there would be wear and tear…

Showing age because the House of Atredies wouldn't be the first occupants. You looked at them and asked how they managed to do it.

One just said. "We're being paid to create the impossible, so might as well do that, and figure out how it works later?"

The confidence that they have!

George hired the best in the business. And that was that.

Reward: The Sets will increase SP other rolls.
--------------------------------------------

-[X]The Knives and Weapons: So, as the most combat-proven (in HEMA) blades man in Lucasfilms currently, you are going to figure out what exactly the blades should be used, and their context DC: 30 Rolled: D100 => 70
You saw the weapons that they forged and found them…

Adequate. You wished that they were a little better and more creative, but you were reminded that the Key to the future often lies in the past.

Reward: Bonuses will be added to the production.
-----------------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Peace that Is to Come: Alan and Barry, and Sid and Murdoch, are calling in that thing to make a super movie that shows the greatest of American Filmmaking and make the peace worth a damn. One that would spare no expense. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 86

Well now, that was something.

(Continued in: The Greatest History Film Ever Conceived)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark: Steven's next, and you would argue, greatest masterpiece. You hoped at least. You had high hopes. DC: 20 Rolled:D100 + 20 => 98

One of the greatest adventure films ever made.

That wasn't your words, it was the critics.

(continued in Raiders of the Lost Ark)
-----------------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids! Rolled:D100 => 80

You finally were back from work and you looked at the kids playing around. Carrie was watching them, and she was smiling. "You're home?"

"Hopefully." You said. "Now how are our little hellions?"

The twins are energetic and rambunctious, and Mary wants to play with Brandon, but I already told her that he won't be back for another few weeks." She exhaled. "Well you know how that made her feel."

Ah. "So what shall we do tonight to make the kids feel better?" You asked.

Carrie shrugged. "You being here is enough."

You smiled. "Oh, you don't want me to make dinner tonight?"

"I think that the kids deserve treat after your parents cooked." She replied.

"That steak was delicious." You protested.

"Mary didn't eat it, because of all the spices your father put on it. It was too much for her."

"The Whale Steak is a delicacy and you should be honored that dad made it!" You said.

"But Mary didn't like it."

"It's better than some of the crap that other kids are eating." you said. "She needs to grow strong, and that is the best way to do it, eating good food and having a great family!"

Your wife then shook her head. "Then you are cooking dinner tonight!"

"I love you." You whispered as you kissed her on the cheek.

"I know."

Then you looked at Ginger, and saw half a dozen little kittens. "Carrie, when did Ginger adopt kittens?"

Then Carrie facepalmed. "You didn't know your cat was pregnant with kittens?"

Then it finally hit you. That explained so much actually.

Reward: You make dinner and have a good time, and also you learn your cat has kittens.

Oh lord.
-----------------------------------------------

-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Daiei Film. With the success of Pacific Rim, you want Lucasfilms to become an active participant in the Kaiju genre and make a film. With Godzilla under strong lock and key by perfidious Toho, why not uplift his greatest rival? Approach Daiei with the script for "Gamera: Guardian of the Universe" and see if they would be interested in a joint production between them and Lucasfilms, with extra emphasis on access to ILM. Rolled:D100 => 22

They said yes… really to anything.

They have been in sheer financial straits and you have given them the lifeline they need to keep them up.

And best of all, you learned that some of the Sunrise Crew were storyboarding for them probono, because they wanted to have a kaiju fight…eventually.

Reward: They accepted. And they really want to work on it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X] Practice writing: You want to write something, maybe even a script. At least to learn the craft. DC: 20 (You try your hand at screenwriting, and maybe get something that is worth a damn.)
--[X] Write Kung Fu Kid Part II. Rolled:D100 => 52

Script Quality:D100 => 81

Carrie, bless her heart was a rigorous task master that was almost as great at writing as she is at caring for the kids, so when you stepped into her domain, she fixed everything and the mistakes that you made.

Reward: Kung Fu Kid is written, with a good quality. +2 to Writing skill.
-----------------------------------------------------

-[X]Game Shows: You want to go on a Game show, you are sure that Lucille might get you in on one of them. DC: 40 rolled: D100 => 100

It was a strange thing to say, but the Show was something called…

The Price is right, and you were clearly the richest person ever on the show. That was confusing, but you were doing this entirely for charity, where you guessed an item's price, not only would you donate that money to charity, but it also would go to someone in the audience, for free as a gift.

And it was a smash success, and you were really guessing the prices as close as you could, and you honestly had a great deal of fun.

And your appearance was the highest-watched and rated episode of the series yet.

Reward: You appeared on the Price is Right. And blew the ratings out of the water.

Dune Casting Call
Dune Casting Call:

Good God. this was going to take all month if it stayed like this. "Francis, why the hell, did you do this? And open call, for everything?"

"Because that is not something we can get away with again," Francis said. "And honestly, I wanted to see who would come."

"There are a thousand people we are going to try to audition with your people for just five roles. And that is just today."

"I'll admit, I went overboard, but it doesn't matter now. What's done is done."

Oh god, you were not going to be sleeping in your own bed tonight.

The Greatest History Film Ever Conceived
The Greatest History Film Ever Conceived:

The fact that some of the most powerful people in Hollywood were here was something that was honestly expected at this point.

You had somehow managed to become a lightning rod for change in the city of Angels and not only that, you had proved to make boatloads of money. And that money meant you had authority.

However, as you arrived, you could see that the men who had called you here had already chosen their topic. One that was honestly… well surprising.

The American Saga.

Oh hell. "Okay, Mike, what the hell is going on?" You asked the man responsible for getting this meeting going.

"You see, we had ideas, and those ideas were stupid." mike said as he took some bites out of a tub of ice cream that was on the table. "We had wanted to first find a way to keep things from going to hell, in terms of rights, history, and other… Well, rights issues. So the only thing we could think of, without bringing in the Government, was… History, and then it leads to other things."

"Like how things will be done, funding." Roy Disney was jumping up and down in his seat with excitement. "You see once we decided that separate eras needed to be divided out, we went off and started to divide them."

Okay… "Alright, but why am I still here then. What have you all done that requires me?" You asked.

"Well, you see, The American Saga is the grand historical film that will stand the test of time, with unparalleled historical accuracy, casting, and trust," Barry said, but you were more interested in what Murdoch would say.

"And to say anything more, it's easy to make, and it will require almost nothing more, but dedication." He said. "The fact of the matter is, this story is the story of America, and it requires nothing less than full commitment."

"Also, those Chinese bastards think they can go and make a great film for the art of it of their long and storied history? I say that we can do much better."

Oh. That was what this was about, a way to get revenge on people who tried to kill you in the only way that Hollywood knew how. By making incredible films.

"Alright, how are we going to do this?"

"We've got the settlement of James town to the revolution, and the Washington presidency," Mike said calmly. "Colombia has the Post Washington years to Bleeding Kansas. Universal has the civil war. Fox has Reconstruction to World War 1… and Paramount has the post-war, to the Second world war. And that will be the end of it."

"That's a lot of time." You said. "And why would we all work together for this?"

"Why not?" Sid said, finally showing himself, dosen't matter for why itself… we want this project to be… something great. Something incredible, something that will make people stare in awe… and wonder, and say… This is America."

"Not a documentary?" You asked.

"History is the greatest story ever told. Doesn't need anything more than that."

Reward:

All of Hollywood, for the rest of the Decade, will be working on something called "The American Saga" Which details the Birth of the United States, for the English Settlers of Jamestown, to the end of the Second World War.

Every year, after 1983, all studios will be making a film in the time period assigned and agreed upon and worked together to see these films made. Because these films are not just for public consumption and release. It's about doing what Hollywood does best. Telling masterful stories.

Expect many Historians, and the Federal Government to be involved in this project, and new actions are available.

AN: Enjoy.

Turn 89 (July 1981)
Turn 89 (July 1981)

You looked at Carrie and than the tv, where the news was breaking.

"Carrie O'Brian has promised a new sports team here in LA, with the Billionaire-"

You turned it off and shook your head. "Were the Lakers not enough?"

"I actually enjoy the fact I can do a lot on the teams, and manage to keep all that time away from everything… and manage to do it better than you?" She stuck out her tongue as Joseph laughed. "You know Dave Dixon-"

"You mentioned him a few times." You said. "But honestly, I thought it was just more billionaire stuff that was just for the strange and the crazy?"

"Bruce O'Brian, do I look like one of those crazy billionaires who do crazy things and spend time with other ultra-wealthy people who are completely detached from reality?" She questioned.

"Is this before or after our friends in Hollywood?" You asked. That earned a spoon that was thrown at you. "Hey!"

"Well, I decided to help out because it seems like a prudent thing to do." She smiled. "And hey, the LA Fighting Geese are-"

"Fighting Geese?" You asking. "Fighting Dragons would have been better!"

"Mary said that too, but I decided against it after the art for it came through and I liked the Geese better."

The Goose was striking again.

Dammit!

You looked to the actors training with one of the stunt coordinators from the gym, as well as a few of the new HEMA guys who were coming in to help. "You know, I have to ask, do you think they will be any good?"

"The fights?" One asked. "No."

"Wow, low blow. They are trying their best." You said.

"You're going to put something over them in post and than it won't be fights it will be silly."

"Will they at least be able to sell the action?" You asked.

"Yes. But the fights won't be good."

Reward: They are going to do well enough you suppose, even with the months of training.

"Well, that does not matter, you have decided to do something incredible to keep a tradition alive that has been long dead." He then chuckled. "Do you think that would make you some kind of hero?"

"Not really, I was just bored, read through some texts, and had fun. Everything else after was beyond my control." You replied.

Christopher was ready. "En Gaurd?" He asked.

Fine, you would humor him. "Fine."

He kicked your ass. And that was being polite.

"You still have much to learn." He smiled as he took the blade, and you frowned.

Reward: You had your ass kicked by Lee, who was impressed with your ability to revive much of HEMA and make it popular.

But he also knew you were no true grandmaster. Just the showman who managed to bring it to life.

-[X]Things Get Better: Francis has been in the writing room for a few hours, with one scene. Rolled:D100 => 84

"How the hell are we going to show the spaceships landing?" That was what you met when you entered to talk about the sheer size of the ships that will be made.

"We can just use miniatures." You said.

"But that will be something that we can't just…" Francis than looked at the many things that have been done… and then sighed. "I need to talk to John."

John Lasseter, Head of Pixar, was not whom you wanted him to go to. "John is literally about to make a new film, he's writing a script right now, and try to make more powerful computers."

"And I need his help." He said.

"They don't have the people for this!" You protested.

"But we have the technology, so lets get it going."

Reward: Pixar is making a huge ass spaceship.

And it might not work. But by god is Francis going to try toget that on screen.

-[X]Frank Herbert and the Adaptation Woes: He saw the script. And he is not happy about it. Rolled:D100 => 84

"You're butchering my book." He said softly.

"You understand that is the nature of the adaptations. Things have to be cut, adjusted, and prepared."

"And yet you take out one of the most vital scenes in the film. Showing-"

"Let me ask you something then, and please don't take this the wrong way… but doesn't the Atredes have… no time. They would be wasting time when they are trying to make and prepare for the inevitable attack." You asked. "That is what we are focusing on. The tension towards the attack that everyone knows is coming."

And Herbert only stopped. "You better be right."

"I'm in the picture business, I fuck it up, or I don't. But I'd like to think I'm good enough."

Reward: Herbert has been talked down.

-[X]Carrie's Greatness: Carrie has… for the most part…surprised you. Now you want to see where she is going with this. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 + 30 => 57

"You started a team, in a nother sports league?" You asked.

"Yeah." She said. "We're not making any films, and I'm not too busy with the kids."

"Carrie, this venture might fail?" You said.

"Hey, I have so much money that I don't know what to do with, so I'm trying to do my part in making the world a better place."

"With a football league?" You asked. "This is going to crash and burn."

"No it's not, and I can easily recuperate the losses, and besides, maybe I can make this work."

"Donald is one of the owners. And you know I don't like him."

"Your father says he's okay." She said. "I mean, after he scared the shit out of him with that prank."

"That wasn't a prank, that was revenge." You replied. "Just be careful, he's an asshole who loves money."

"Sounds like someone I know?" She smiled.

"Mike is not like Donald. Donald is worse." You said. "He's just unpleasant."

"Well maybe he'll be more pleasant around me." She smiled.

Reward: The USFL is here to stay, and there is great hope in it.

The NFL shrugs it's shoulders. Not caring. They should, Carrie is there.
------------------------------------------------------

-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids! Rolled:D100 => 59

Dinner was a mess, you were preparing it thinking that the kids wouldn't play fantasy in the dining room.

That was not the case, because Mary was dressed up, and not going to make things easier for you.

The fact that the twins have also taken to dressing themselves up with their dress over their clothes…

You were going to be stuck with lots of crazy crap. Mostly because the kids were not going to eat their steak and eggs.

And Carrie was waging war on Mary to eat her vegtables.

"This is good for you." She said.

"No!" Mary stated.

"You can't become an astronaut if you are not eating your vegetables."

"NO!" Mary yelled again.

You remembered when you were young, and decided to do what mom did to you. You picked Mary up, sat her down and shoved some broccoli in her mouth, and made her chew and swallow it.

"It will be easier if you eat it of your own volition Mary." You said.

And Mary reluctantly agreed.

Reward: Some fun happens. And Mary Learns to eat her vegetables.

-[X]Hanging out with the Friends: It's been far to long since you, John, and Robin hung out, so you will go out for some drinks and have some fun. DC: 45 Rolled:D100 => 7

Failure.

-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Douglas Day Stewart. You've heard he has a screenplay based on his own experiences as a Naval Aviation Officer Candidate. See if he can be convinced to make it a Lucasfilms production, or at the very least let you distribute it. Rolled:D100 => 16

You talked to Stewart and tried your best to convince him.

But he merely laughed, and said that, as much as he believed that he wanted to see how you would make it… He was worried Lucasfilms would "Turn it into something that would not be the story I want to tell."

Even offering to pay for distribution, he just shook his head and said no.

Failure.

AN: Enjoy.
