Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Oh, the all-powerful mongoose dies. Can we please get a Good Friday Agreement a decade early with the queen on our side?

Also, could we get Charles III to play King George III for those American history movies? I mean, could you imagine if we kept it a secret and audiences go wild in the first viewing

-[X]A Well-Known Fan: So some really famous person is a fan of yours. Maybe you'll learn who they actually are. DC??? Rolled:D100 => 80 A Well Known Fan:D20 => 20

Your eyes widened when you realized who was actually here.
"Jesus Christ!" Blasphemy might be a sin, but for this, you were not going to deny that it was warranted. Because there were over five hundred British security forces and other notable things.
Because sitting in front of you was… Her Majesty the Queen, Elizabeth the Second of the House of Windsor.
The Inner Irishman in you wanted to cause an incident, but you were in Ulster trying to get to Scotland so that would be a problem.
Best be polite. Your mother did not raise a thug, despite playing a few on TV.
"Hello." You said.
She gave a smile. "You know, when they told me I was able to ambush you to speak to you, I was surprised. There were also several members of my cabinet and members of the Royal Shakespeare Society that bemoaned that you were not among their ranks."
"I hope you're not expecting me to follow protocol when I wasn't even expecting you?"
She then laughed. "God I hope not, I'm the one who's making a bother for you, and making discreet actions to meet you."
You frowned and sighed. "Then how may I serve you, Your Majesty?"
"Oh nothing yet I hope, but I do hope to get an autograph from you, if at all possible. My children like Star Wars and Conan, and Charles has been a fan of that new film you released, said it was a fine work of Shakespearean character acting in a modern setting."
Reward: Her Majastey the queen is a huge fan, her and her family. And you gave her an autograph because she asked.
Well, you managed to surprise me Magoose... That is really amazing...
I don't think Bruce would accept.
Why not? Does his Irish blood scream against it?
Fucking hell!!! The Queen of England!!! What the aactual fuck!!!

...Do you know what this means?!

Owning/Licensing Dr. Who might not be as far away as we thought!!!
I think that we could do great collaborations with the BBC, and don´t forget their Radio Comedies like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...
-[X]Investments: You want to invest your hard-earned cash into something that you feel will be a good return on investment. And as well as diversify your assets DC: 0 (Linetail what you wish to invest in below this action, and the amount of money you want to invest in)
--[X] Oatfield. $2 Million. Ireland's oldest confectionary manufacturer and a personal favorite of your sweet tooth growing up. You want to share with the world the greatness of Oatfield and wish to become a co-owner with the Mckinney family, still keeping management under them but helping it to thrive into a great business with your patronage. Rolled:D100 => 68

The Mckinney family were hesitant to see you offer a co-ownership, but the money you offered, as well as basically telling them that nothing at all has changed and that you just wanted to get more sweets for yourself and your children, they agreed.

Reward: You are an investor within Oatfield. And they appreciate it.
This is pretty cool as well...

@Magoose would it be possible to acquire (or at least become a major shareholder) of Cadbury?

Mainly to prevent Kraft ruins their original recipes to make things cheaper...

TV Mini-Series Pitch: Stephen King's Salem's Lot
I've just recently watched Salem's Lot and I have to say...it holds up pretty well when compared to other shows today. It's not a bad Mini-Series at all, and it does its job very well, both in adaptation and atmosphere when it comes to telling a good story. Nonetheless, I would also argue that there are many ways in which it could be done better; the actors in many occasions feel stilt and wooden, the location and sets are just outright mediocre. At many times I could not be sure if there was really anyone besides the Main Characters living in Jerusalem's Lot, while at the same time I could not feel a sense of scale for the town.

I must also admit that the music was just all too generic. Serviceable, but not something that was original or unique. The fights (if they could be called fights at all) were lackluster, and at so many times it just seemed like the actors were just waiting for their cue to move or do something. Now, despite all these criticisms, the Mini-Series was pretty amazing in and of itself, which makes me think that if we can improve on what I've mentioned, then we would have a pretty big hit in our hands for our new channel.

Also, perhaps we could do something more with Father Callahan, I always felt he was a bit wasted with having only a couple of scenes in the series, so perhaps having him take a bigger role, while also dying like in the series, would work for the best. I've also put a different composer for the music, and with a bigger budget we can work in for more Extras to make the town seem fuller, while also making better sets and better filmography as well

Thus, I give you:

TV Mini-Series Pitch:
Stephen King's Salem's Lot

GENRE: Horror/Thriller/Supernatural

SUBGENRE: Mystery/Drama/Fantasy

FORMAT: TV Mini-Series

Set Up: Based on the 1975 horror novel 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King. The plot concerns a writer, Ben Mears, who returns after a long absence to his small hometown intending to write a book about an old, ominous house on a hilltop known as the "Marsten House" which has a reputation for being haunted. Murders, suicides, kidnappings, to the point that Ben believes the house to be inherently evil. While failing to rent the eerie house, the writer suspects that the new inhabitants of the house have something to do with the sudden deaths and disappearances of the town's inhabitants, as well as a mysterious sickness which now threatens them all.

Showrunner: Tobe Hooper
Composer: Michael Kamen

Ben Mears: He is an author and one-time resident of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. Seeking a break from his career after the death of his wife, Miranda, and a current case of writer's block, he returns to the Lot. He decides to write about the Marsten House, at the same time developing a passionate romance with college graduate and town resident Susan Norton. He soon finds himself battling the powerful vampire Kurt Barlow, who seeks to turn the Lot's residents into more of his kind. Although the rest of Ben's subsequent 'resistance movement' is killed in the fight against Barlow, Ben and the other survivor, Mark Petrie, manage to escape after staking Barlow.

Played By: Nicholas Hammond
Alternate: Pierce Brosnan

Susan Norton: She is a resident of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine, where she lived with her mother and father. Being a recent college graduate, she met and befriended author and former resident Ben Mears, who had come back to the town to recover from the loss of his wife. Eventually, she and Ben became close lovers and struck up a relationship. However, Susan became aware of the idea of vampires in Salem's Lot, a sought to track down Kurt Barlow in the Marsten House, alongside Mark Petrie. Unfortunately Susan is caught and turned into a vampire. She is later staked by Ben, the man who loved her.

Played By: Faye Grant
Alternate: Bonnie Bedella

Richard Straker: He is the main servant of the Vampire Kurt Barlow, though looking like an old man, he possesses incredible strength, and it is implied that he possesses some kind of supernatural power; Straker summoned a fast wind as he abducted Ralphie Glick in the woods and easily managed to lift Dr. Bill Norton off the ground by himself with little effort and impaled him on a wall that was filled with animal horns. He is still mortal however, and was shot and killed by Ben Mears on the stairs in the Marsten House, though he took several bullets to the abdomen and continued to move until he finally succumbed to his wounds.

Played By: Vincent Price
Alternate: James Mason

Kurt Barlow: He is a Type-One Vampire who terrorizes the town of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. Barlow came to the town in a box shipped overseas by his assistant, Richard Straker. The two then took residence in the Marsten House, an abandoned house that was considered haunted by the townsfolk. He has a Nosferatu-like appearance, along with a variety of Supernatural powers, such as Telekinesis, as well as the ability to enter homes without being invited, be active during the day, and turning others into vampires. Barlow never spoke and only growled and snarled. Considering his position as a Master Vampire, it is possible that he was a powerful telepath with no need for speech.

Played By: Reggie Nalder
Alternate: Michael Pate
Danny Glick: He is the older brother of Ralphie Glick. Both him and his brother are Kurt Barlow's first victims after he arrives in Salem's Lot. Ralphie was the first, who then went to feed on his brother, leaving Danny sick and going to the Hospital where he was killed and turned. Danny then went on to turn Mike Ryerson, though he failed in turning Mark Petrie.

Played By: River Phoenix

Ralphie Glick: He is the younger brother of Danny Glick. When Ralphie and Danny went to visit Mark Petrie at night, Ralphie is killed by Richard Straker and Kurt Barlow, who turn him into a vampire. Ralphie visits Danny in hospital who falls ill and kills him, turning him into a vampire. Both brothers then go around Jerusalem's Lot, turning several residents into vampires.

Played By: Joaquin Phoenix

Marjorie Glick: She is the mother of both Ralphie Glick and Danny Glick. She is later turned into a vampire. Once she is in the morgue, having been believed to be dead, she rises and is confronted by Ben Mears, attacking him and trying to kill him or turn him into a vampire as well. She is defeated and killed by him thanks to a crucifix he made.

Played By: Clarissa Kaye

Mike Ryerson: He is one of the residents of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. He is a rather simple-minded man who works various menial labor jobs around the area, at the beginning taking a job from Cully Sawyer to bring a box shipped overseas where the Vampire Kurt Barlow is in. He is one of the first residents to be bitten and turned into a vampire by Danny Glick.

Played By: Frank Ashmore
Mark Petrie: He is a young boy and resident of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. He is one of the first to realize that vampires are beginning to overtake the town after foiling Danny's attempt to turn him into one. He goes to the Marsten House with the intention of killing Kurt Barlow, accompanied by Susan Norton. Unfortunately the plan fails. He escapes, but Susan is caught and turned into a vampire. Later on, he accompanies Ben Mears on his quest to stop the vampires. In the end, Mark and Ben are the only survivors and are forced to flee the town.

Played By: Anthony Michael Hall
Alternate: John Cusack

Jason Burke: He is the professor at the school where Ben used to attend, and where Mark Petrie is currently attending. He is a source of advice and comfort to Ben with whom he trades theories as to what is going on in town, as well as one of the only ones who believe him when he mentions the possibility of it being vampires. Jason dies of a heart attack after rebuffing a turned Miker Ryerson, pushing him out of his home with the aid of a crucifix.

Played By: Ronny Cox
Alternate: Lew Ayres

Bill Norton: He is the father of Susan Norton, and the Doctor in Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. He is a fair man who respects her daughter's decisions, as he believes that she respects both him and herself, and would not do anything to harm herself. He also sees Ben as a good man, and trusts him when he tells him about what he thinks is going on, though he does not believe it completely at first, changing his mind when he sees the undead Marjorie Glick. He was killed by Straker when joining Ben as they took the fight to Marsten House.

Played By: William Daniels
Alternate: Ed Flanders

Larry Crockett: He is the realtor in Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. He is a laid-back man who helped Ben find the place where he's staying at, as well as the man who sold the "Marsten House" to both Straker and Barlow. He was also the one who made the arrangements to bring Barlow without being aware. He's also having an affair with Bonnie Sawyer, but was caught in the act by her husband and had to flee, being caught by Kurt Barlow and drained of his blood, dying.

Played By: David Soul
Alternate: Marc Singer

Constable Parkins Gillespie: He is the Chief Officer in charge of security in Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. He is a man who at first glance seems prejudiced, corrupt, and kind of a bully. But he's actually respectful, open minded, if somewhat careful with new people, and a detailed investigator for any case. Nonetheless, the many deaths in the city scare him and he prepares to leave with his family. When he finds ben plans to remain in to fight Barlow, he's impressed by his courage and gives him a gun before leaving.

Played By: Richard Herd
Alternate: Kenneth McMillan

Father Donald Callahan: He is a Catholic priest, and a one-time resident of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. He presided over the funeral of Danny Glick, and was contacted by Ben, who'd discovered the epidemic that has been propagating during the nighttime. He convinces Callahan of the Vampire presence and enlists him to help. Callahan joins and aids them, but eventually falters when confronted with Barlow, giving his life to save Mark, but faltering on his faith and being killed in the end.

Played By: Bill Bixby
Alternate: Daniel J. Travanti
Eva Miller: She is the owner of the Hostel where Ben Mears rents a room during his stay in Jerusalem's Lot. She is a calm woman who worries about her tenants, warning Ben about danger coming from Ned Tibbets.

Cully Sawyer: He is the husband of Bonnie Sawyer, a trucker who was to bring the crate with Kurt Barlow in it. He instead delegated that to Mike and Ned while he stayed looking at his home, waiting for Larry to catch him in the act with his wife.

Bonnie Sawyer: She is the wife of Cully Sawyer, a vibrant and cheerful woman who works as secretary for Larry Crockett, and is having an affair with him. She is discovered though when her husband begins to suspect.

Ted & June Petrie: They are the parents of Mark Petrie, who while they love their son, still wish he could be more "normal". They die at the hands of the Vampire Kurt Barlow.

Ned Tibbets: He is a plumber, and Susan's former beau, who is very jealous of who she spends time with. He still considers her "his girl" despite them having broken up a while ago. He eventually is killed and turned by Barlow.

Gordon "Weasel" Phillips: He is a homeless man who spies on Ben at Constable Gillespie's orders, going as far as entering his room and looking at his stuff. He is eventually killed and turned by Barlow.

A.N.: The series should not have been made since Warner collapsed, and Stephen King should have a deal with us to make adaptations of his works (though I'm not sure if that was for The Shining or for all of his books). I hope this one to enter production for 1983, which is when most of the actors will be ready, at the same time I think this can be a great work for us and a great draw for our channel.

Fucking hell!!! The Queen of England!!! What the aactual fuck!!!

...Do you know what this means?!

Owning/Licensing Dr. Who might not be as far away as we thought!!!
Actually not the Queen of England. To my understanding that title no longer exists, same with Scotland. As of several generations back. The actual title is "Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". Though the numbers used when you have more than one monarch with the same name are treated as including the Scottish monarchs in Scotland and the English monarchs in England so the same king or queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland sometimes has different numbers in different parts of the country.

Oh you know what that means someone in Australia can't insult us because that would anger the royal family
Not actually how that works. For multiple reasons.
He's also an American, the quintessential American to some people.

Why would he want to take a knighthood from a nation that is not his own?
Well, if he really wanted to stay out of politics, I believe accepting the knighthood would render him ineligible for... Basically any government job, elected or otherwise, in the USA. I may be misremembering the specifics though.

As for why I would want Sega? So that we could stea- I mean, use their OTL IP's to pad out our video game library/ as well gain another in-house game studio/console develpment team. It's also an American-Japanees company like Dreamworks so it should fit easy into LucasFilm.

Honestly I went through a list of Sega published or produced games to see if there was many exclusives that we could steal, and there's jack to do right about now. Literally the only video game Sega has produced of note is the Frogger Arcade game and their first true company icon/franchise doesn't show up until 1986 with Alex Kidd while Sonic doesn't appear until 1991. The other major franchises aren't until the late 90's and 200s and the only stuff I'm interested in is Sonic, Bayonetta, Super Monkey Ball, Like a Dragon and Valkyria Chronicles.

-[X] Best Friends: So Mary has lots of friends, and she wants them to come over. You need to prepare for that. Carrie, get the cookies. Rolled:D100 => 17

Thankfully, things weren't as chaotic as previously, as MAry only had Milly, Wally, and some of her school friends over.

And they were instead trying to make movies with one of George's Super Eights. That he somehow snuck in his backpack with film.

And it was honestly decent with the way they used the costumes and the playful childish babbling into something so coherent.

Brandon was there somehow, and it was something that made him frown. "Why am I here?"

"You are the Captive that we need, quiet!" Wally said. "And Action."

Thank goodness that the kids were being careful because you were not in the mood for a mess.

Then someone threw an empty plastic bottle.

And then it was chaos.

Reward: So Wally made a short film. Brandon Lee does not how he was roped into it, because he was trying to talk to you about an idea, but…

Well, he can wait.

Wow, nice to see that Wally is coming into his own as a director and is following his Dad's footsteps. Looks like we're gonna get a lot more movies written and directed by George Lucas, lol.

Though you wish Joseph was happier with his vegetables.
Mary:

Either Mary's gonna help her brother get used to his greens or she's gonna become a commando and make sure Joe never eats a veggie, lol.

You know I actually have a rather natural way for how this came to be. Princess Anne meets Bruce at the Montreal Olympics when she was competing in the Equestrian events, they hang out a few times and get along and then Anne becomes a major fangirl and gets the Royal family hooked on O'Brian films.

Also if Charles is such a huge fan, I guess William and Harry are gonna grow up with Lucasfilms movie nights.

--[X] Peter Shaffer. His theater play Amadeus has made a sensation both abroad and more recently in the U.S.A. You would not be surprised if offers to make a screen adaptation are already in the works. Offer him $25,000,000 for the rights of a movie adaptation, as well as to get him to write it as well. Rolled: D100 => 100

In his words "I was going to offer it to you for free because I trust no one but only true masters of their craft."

Reward: You purchased the rights to Amadeus.

Nice. Cool story about this actually, Mark Hamill played Amadeus on Broadway in the early 80s but when he auditioned for the film, he was instantly rejected in spite of being a veteran for the play and getting critical acclaim, because the Director didn't want his audiences watching Luke Skywalker play Piano. Here, that won't be an issue and we can get Mark to star. Who knows, maybe that'll get him an Oscar.

-[X]Modeling (Advertisements): Thankfully another Call Came in, one from an ad firm. They need you to have some pictures taken so that they are used for saner things. Like selling cars, or ice cream. DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 25

You were not going to do that, considering Malboro wanted you to model for selling cigarettes and other garbage. So you told them to fuck right off.

Failure.
--------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Game Shows: You want to go on a Game show and have some fun. DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 21

None of the Game shows were interesting to you. So you just said no.

Failure.

Hmm....I thought these would have had Bruce's +20 bonus from being an A-lister? Pretty ballsy of Marlboro to try and recruit Bruce when he publicly endorsed a ballot proposition to create no smoking spaces in public and private facilities which passed thanks to him, lol.

-[X] Date Night: Carrie did an amazing job in Killer Queen and last month was pretty hectic. With Star Wars coming soon, you want to treat Carrie to a nice night of romance and show your love. Rolled:D100 + 30 => 105

You and Carrie both sat down and looked at each other for the longest time. The Highrise restaurant was not your first idea for a date, but Carrie wanted you to not cook for her and she had no energy for herself.

So she booked a cab and you both drove to this nice place, and it was…something else.

The meal was nice but all you could do was look at her.

"You know, I've always wanted to ask you this?" Carrie offered as she drank her water. "Out of all the people you have worked with besides me, your favorite?"

"You first." You smiled. She already knew but she sighed. "John."

That made you nearly do a spit take. "John? Is your favorite person you worked with? What about the director?"

"George."

That was a given. "But really, John though?"

"He was fun to be around and he made me act better."

"And I don't?"

"You're my husband, that doesn't count." She smiled. "Now you."

"Actor?" You said. "Mark."

There was a laugh. "Mark?"

"You're surprised. He's awesome."

Carrie laughed. "I would have thought that James would have been-"

"James and I don't really work as much."

Then there was a smile. "And the Director is George."

"Knew it." Carrie said.

You both had a moment. And you laughed.

Reward: You have a good time.

AN: Enjoy.

Awww, nice to know the love is still there and they can just enjoy quiet moments.

Also, could we get Charles III to play King George III for those American history movies? I mean, could you imagine if we kept it a secret and audiences go wild in the first viewing
Charles has gotta give in or else the Windsors will always be cinematically second place to the Bonapartes with Napoleon VI starring in the epic Napoleon series.

Well, if he really wanted to stay out of politics, I believe accepting the knighthood would render him ineligible for... Basically any government job, elected or otherwise, in the USA. I may be misremembering the specifics though.

That's not true at all. Joe Biden could be knighted by Charles and there's nothing preventing him from being President. What you're thinking of is the Titles of Nobility Amendment which was proposed in 1811 and if passed would have made it so any American who accepts a foreign title of nobility is stripped of citizenship and is ineligible for political office. It was something created to help American neutrality during the Napoleonic Wars, and was just one state away from passing. Technically, it can still pass with the support of 25 more states today, but I don't think anyone, even the most Far-Left Democrats and Far-Right Republicans would care too much to spend time, money and energy on it.

I believe you're thinking too small term (Not an insult BTW). We're still in '81, of course the more well known IP's only show up later when hardware improves. But the reason why I'm pushing for this is because: Sega is a large video game company with an arcade branch, video game branch and a home console develepment branch with talent and experience which we can buy at a very cheap price. And if our hardware is better than OTL we can bring these IP's to life much earlier, by having Sega we have a perpetual claim over their OTL IP's which we can make earlier or later when we want.

And if that is still not good enough for you, I would ask you to name another company which is as large as Sega now in the '80, which we can buy at a reasonable price and has a liabrary of good IP's to use in the future.

The whole event just reminded me of something..

Should Lucas Ltd. distribute The Crown in the far future?

So.... I found something that I want to see if we can do before we get too old to try.

This is about the belt that declares someone the strongest man to live.

If we pull it off it would be MAJOR and.... Even better if we were to make a movie about the man who originally held that title and break that record for that movie.....

Well, i suspect we'd have something major

Bruce: I'm going to make a film about the strongest man alive!

Also Bruce: breaks records to make the shot authentic.
