Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Lots of stuff
Welp, time to introduce something that's been on the backburner for a while:

Console Pitch:
OASIS: Alpha

Source of Pic
Genre: Virtual Reality Gaming
Bio:
OASIS: Alpha is a new console coming out that combines many technologies relating to VR together to formulate into one working system. Its design seems rigid at the beginning, but it'll be able to improve quickly over time thanks to feedback, better technology, and continuous research to truly create the ultimate virtual reality experience.

Console Pitch:
OASIS: Beta

Source of Pic
Genre: Virtual Reality Gaming
Bio:
OASIS: Beta expands from the Alpha in more ways than previous, with the creation of a more flexible technology that has less gimmicks needed for the console to work, the ability to be able to use gloves instead of the old VR controllers, and overall software development that truly expands the experience of the user.

Console Pitch:
NerveGear

Source of Pic
Genre: Virtual Reality Gaming
Bio:
The NerveGear is a new installment that took the lessons from the OASIS and transformed the whole experience right into your imagination. With Cardinal playing as assistant to make the best of it. In addition to lesser physical activity allowing the player to truly play games in their mind with information recording (for the player's benefit after agreeing to terms and conditions) their health and physical information in order for better performance.

Console Pitch:
AmuSphere

Source of Pic
Genre: Virtual Reality Gaming
Bio:
The AmuSphere expands further from the NerveGear, with the development of an automatic ejection system in place for the users to leave the game if their health is being threatened from medical conditions.

Now those VR Evolutionary Line Consoles are proposed.. (No, I do not expect them to actually be created within 10 years Magoose. Or ever really, that's your call.)

Game Pitch:
Pokemon: Journeys

Source of Pic
Genre: Virtual Reality Gaming, MMO, JRPG
Sub-Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Romance, Horror, Pocket Monsters, etc.
Format: Advanced VR System: OASIS: Beta, NerveGear, AmuSphere
Bio:
Pokemon Journeys is the newest addition in the long line of Pokemon Games since Pokemon: Red and Blue. It employs a relatively new system introduced to gaming than ever before, introducing a new way to enjoy gaming in the World of Pokemon.

Utilizing the new advanced VR System of OASIS: Beta (later NerveGear + AmuSphere), the World of Pokemon is more reachable than ever before. The Cardinal AI System has come a long way from its original inception during the creation of Girls und Panzer: Sensha-do Legacy, with its ability to manage the games it's connected to improving to employ more gameplay, slice-of-life mechanics, and other details.

When first entering the World of Pokemon, the player first chooses a region from Kanto to all the way to Galar (and other future regions to be added into the World of Pokemon as updates), and after choosing a region to start, a character creation sequence occurs to get the basics out of the way with an option for the avatar of the player to be based on the the player themselves.

The regional standard spawn point (when entering the region for the first time) is the starting City, with examples being Pallet Town for Kanto, New Bark Town in Johto, and Twinleaf Town for Sinnoh. The players spawn at the market district of the town they've spawn into.

About Regions:

For every region chosen, the players are capped to only that region to build up the immersive that they're actually at that place to explore. The only way to go to a different region (and enter the same caplock) is participating in the Regional Pokemon League. The players can re-enter the regions they've gone to before.

About Gyms and Leagues:

The standard amount to be able to join a Regional Pokemon League is 6 Gym Badges belonging to that specific region, with the players able to choose which gym to battle in order to gain a badge.

About Gimmicks:

In order to attain the Gimmicks: Z-Moves, Mega Evolution, Gigantamax, etc., they must be gained from the regions they're originally from. Doing so would unlock them in the other regions the players visit (Gigantamax is exclusive for Galar Pokemon).

About Skills:

Skills exist in the game, and can be leveled up. An example of this is the Skill: Cooking, which allows the player to cook for not just themselves to experience the World of Pokemon's dishes, but to also feed Pokemon food for their hunger, bonding opportunities, luring Pokemon, etc. | As a prize: The players that max out the skill usually have exclusive options, such as getting the recipe to Brock's Jelly-Filled Donut that also works in the Real World.

At the beginning, the Players have No Skills unlocked.

About Slice-of-Life:

To build upon the immersion in Pokemon: Journeys, the adaptive nature of Cardinal allows the development of new aspects created into the game. Examples of this is the ability to buy a home, allowing players to have jobs that aren't Pokemon trainers and make a living out of them (can even become a Pokemon Professor), relationship-related content like marriages, full-functional shops and people across the World of Pokemon, the possibilities are plentiful.

About Pokemon Battles, Pokemon Bonding, and Pokemon Training:

Pokemon battles have a direct inspiration in their mechanics from both Anime and the Games previous. While stats do have a certain amount of importance, it is also the more interactive tactics and strategy that can be employed similar to the anime.

Not to mention the addition that bonding with Pokemon actually has a special effect that is inspired by the anime, and can be a big decision maker in battling.

Reflected by the anime, Pokemon Training can be employed to develop the player's Pokemon and to learn the skills it can learn and develop. In addition to the ability to basically create your own Pokemon moves thanks to Cardinal's adaptability mechanics.

About The Commodities/Market System of The World of Pokemon:

Players can become merchants and other positions in the World of Pokemon, from being an engineer, creating their own company, etc. As long as the player selling and buying the commodities unlocked them (say Mega Stone for example), they are able to pretty muchly buy what is there in the market.

However, thanks to Cardinal's adaptive capabilities, the corporate aspect of Pokemon can be developed to create businesses.the possibilities are pretty muchly endless.

Note: Weapons like Guns are banned from the game, simply because it's seen as an unnecessary feature to add into a game about bonding and traveling in the World of Pokemon (not to mention how pitiful to use it against actual Pokemon as it'd be considered super ineffective).

Grand Opening Event!:

To celebrate the release of the game to the public, there begins a new challenge to every player's goals of becoming the very best like no one ever was..the Pokemon World Championships. Opening 3 years after the release of the game.

The players (and interactive NPCs) can participate to be declared the strongest Pokemon Trainer in the world. With some battles having certain conditions that depend on the gimmicks and the trainers in the battle (If both trainers want to use all their gimmicks, then they are allowed to).

With it being the first Pokemon World Championship of the game, there exists an exclusive content for the winner of the World Championship, in fact right after it, for the whole world to see it!

Challenger Approaching..

..Red.

As players have noticed (those who want to look for certain characters in the game), Red and his friends do not appear at all in the regions across the World of Pokemon, right until the award ceremony was crashed by the appearance of the Challenger Red with his friends finally seen from the audience.

As per usual, he does not speak at all, but his expressions make it clear that he wants to battle the new Champion of the world.

Compared to his iterations in previous Pokemon Games, Red has a different variety of Pokemon that he caught over his journey of being a Pokemon Trainer, visiting every region for himself to grow alongside his Pokemon. He is hinted subtly throughout the regions if the players are looking at "previous records", however it can be dismissed as backstory of different trainers.

In terms of difficulty, Red is basically the hardest NPC to beat as of the World Championship, and will require everything the new Champion has to defeat him.

After the Championships, he'll finally have appearances alongside his friends becoming stronger, and basically looking towards fighting inside the tournament in the next World Championships.

N/A: Finally finished what I've wanted to work on for some time, quite ambitious project that depends on a lot of factors. But basically allows for the creation of a true VR Experience of an Open-World Potential game through a progression of VR development than just skipping ahead (Should make Magoose happy I didn't just skip ahead on the tech build to the most advanced iteration without some kind of path guide).

Honestly If we want a mech rpg

I was thinking of creating a VR-based Code Geass Game submission (akin to the Pokemon Game above this), but thought you guys can do it better than I can.

I'm thinking on making an animated pitch for the Ramayana making that Sidestory about the Hindu mythology really inspired me after reading about the legendary story about Rama and Sita (not to mention that since it's an Indian Story, adding musicals and dancing its a must!). However, I'm not sure if it should be one to be done in the 80s or perhaps the 90s.

What do you guys think?

Anyways, since it's animated, I'll try to find a mix of actors tha can make it work using both in the 80s and 90s. It should cover all our bases here.

Now, I've been thinking about future plan, mostly aabout Videogames and Consoles. I've already put the idea that we should be able to put in some RPG games (Mainly Final Fantasy) bu at the same time I've been wondering what other kind of games we might be able to do. I still think that rying to get some of the workers from Atari might be a good idea for their experience if nothing else, but we should also try and get some new and experinced workers from Japan if only because their consoles at least don't look like they are going to take an entire shelf on their own.

Memory is going to be a problem, but hopefully one that we can overcome with our own technological prowess. Still, I would like to know where would we stand when we make our first console; at NES levels, Genesis levels, or something above perhaps? I still think it would have worked better if we made a deal with Nintendo for us to distribute their NES like Atari nearly did...I mean, we would have a console and games while we can also make games on our own as well for said console.

Something to think about at least.

Sorry, didn't see this earlier. Yeah, that'd be really cool. I don't know a whole lot about Hindu mythology and theology, so it'd be cool to see some more.

I actually wanted to talk to you, Kaiser, and maybe Duke(since I'm already going to be going back and forth with him on something else) about this at some point in PM's, but probably not tonight. I think I'll message you tomorrow.

I think it might be something that could help in the continuing talks with India if we cna show some appreciation that way. It won't probably be noticed by the higher ups, but every small bit counts so long as we can manage to gain a good working relationship.

Sounds good. Perhaps I might be able to persuade for making a deal with Nintendo. If not then we can at least try and see what kind of console we'll use.

Could also throw in an animated movie (like Exodus for Prince of Egypt) that is based on the Bhagavad Gita (Also subtly well known for being the one Openheimer read when he says his iconic phrase).

Killer Queen (Production miniturn)
Killer Queen (Production miniturn):

You looked at Carrie and her scripts and frowned at it. "Carrie, I know you're upset that not a lot of people came but-"

You then saw that she was laughing as Joseph crawled around the papers she had. "Um Bruce, Were you in Mexico, that letter was the wrong one."

Oh.

"So you didn't need my help with being a producer?" You asked.

"Oh hell no, I need your help." She said as she grabbed Joseph and placed him down next to the toys on the couch he was playing with.

"Alright, I'll bite, what do you need from me."

The list was simple enough, directing, casting… "Carrie, Jesus Christ, I can't do everything for you for this film while you only write it, and get your mom involved!"

"No takebacks. And I'm doing the music too." She said with a smile. "I have to take care of Sarah and Joseph, so get too it."

You walked right into this one.

Welp, time to make the wife happy.
---------------------------------------
You have a preliminary budget of Ten million dollars.

What you need to account for:

Actor Fee (The SAG minimum for the actors at this time is 5,400 dollars per month of shooting, per actor. But Carrie made promises to everyone to get them at least 100,000 dollars)

Director Fee (You can wave it but you also want to joke around the house)

Prop Fees (These are the cars, and costumes, renting out apartment buildings and getting permits. Carrie has no number for it.)

Makeup (A Movie about Hollywood needs makeup.)

Stunt Fees (none)

Music (Carrie is writing the score and doing all the music)

Post-Production Budget (Carrie is hiring a friend to edit, but she promised him…. 75,000)

Other Expenses (This is for everything else. From Hotel and lodging expenses, and other potential emergency expenses, as well as other things, as you have no idea what they are doing.)
----------------------

Casting Call: D100 + 30 => 77

Carrie already cast everyone for the film. Here they are.

Debbie Reynolds (Obviously)
Carrie O'Brian (She and the kids are cameoing and being… well basically themselves, as they struggle at home)
John Travolta (Turns out Carrie had him by the balls, and he will play the agent who helps her)
Frank Sinatra (Frank Really, Carrie you can do better then this? Mike works for me! Well Frank's a little like that sleazy producer type, but what do you know)
Eileen Evelyn Greer Garson (this was Debbies choice to play the superstar Hollywood rival, they were friends during the 60's, and Debbie wanted to repay a kindness to a friend)
Vincent Price (Apparently he always wanted to work with Debbie, and as a villainous henchman trying to screw Debbie out, you love it)
Don Bluth (She called in a few favors for an animated thing, and to make a theme for that Macross project he got roped into)
George Miller (So funny story, he plays a foreign director turned ally of Debbie's character. The irony was not lost to him.)

Do you direct?:
[X]Yes
[]No: You think Carrie would kill you if you said no.

AN: Enjoy and vote to get the budget for plan format please

YES!!!!! THE QUEST CONTINUES!!!

*Ahem* alright guys, we have a budget, now does anyone have any idea how to use it? It's been a while since the last time we tried to do anything here, so we might need to once more check the script and find out what it's needed.

I was taking a break.
Sorry about that, I got a bit anxious.

Anyways, since the budget seems to mention that the bare minimum for actors is 100,000, I'm thinking we can be generous and pay around 350,000 for wach actor. that would make it $2,400,000 for the actors. As director fee, I say we give ourselves aroun $10,000, and for props around 1,000,000 should be enough. Make up, perhaps $100,000, Carrie already promised her friend $75,000 for Post-Production, and for the
other expenses we can go for $500,000.

That alone would mean around $4,085,000 for the film. What do you guys think? Too much? Too little? What should we do?

For directors fee we can just be paid, $69.69… and in our contract we can have it written that the writer of the script has to give foot rubs to the director, or something else silly that will make for a fun story to the children and the rest of the family.

The Dragons Tomb
The Dragons Tomb

Here lies the final resting place
of our Brothers and Sisters who paid
The Ultimate Price for Romania, may their
Souls rest for a million years.

-The words carved into the Tomb of the Fallen

Ashes
During the Romania-Soviet War an estimated 2.6 million lives were lost in the war with most being from the bioweapons the Soviet used in the war to commit a mass genocide of the Romanian people, these bioweapons prevented any types burials due to the risk that the bioweapons could contaminate the lands around the Cementary and could evolve into a more dangerous and lethal plague, forcing the Romanian government to approve large scale cremation of the dead bodies.

Tomb
In the Aftermath of the war these ashes would be transported and laid to rest in the newly built Tomb of the Fallen a large Dome shape Building with its walls painted and carved to show the Eras of Romania from its foundation to the Modern Age. In middle of the Dome enclosed inside glass stands a Man embracing his wife and Children. Glass floors around the center of the Dome reveals the Ashes that lay underneath the Tomb allowing visitors to pay respect to the dead.

Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is perhaps one of the most Popular Holiday in Romania Starting from May 6th to May 13th millions of Romanians would travel to the Tomb to pay respects to those who died in the war, from the rich Ceo to the poor beggars of the street, and from catholic Priests to Orthodox Pastors millions of them travel across the Nation to pay tribute to the innocent lives lost in the war.

The Romanian First Guard
The Tomb Guards of the Fallen, the Romanian first guard is the most zealotry and Experienced of the Romanian Army these proud defenders of the dead patrol the Site and are ready to throw their lives away to protect the Tomb from any invaders or groups seeking to disturb the bodies of those who rest in the tomb. Most the Soldiers in this unit are from those who lost their friends and families in the biowar.

[X] Plan Long Live the Queen
-[X] Actor Fee: $2,500,000
-[X] Director Fee: $1
-[X] Prop Fees: $1,500,000
-[X] Makeup: $425,000
-[X] Editing: $75,000
-[X] Other Expenses: $5,499,999

Okay, so for actor's fee let's be generous as we usually are and pay our actors well. For Director's Fee, considering that last time we gave ourselves a decent wage it didn't really affect the film, let's just go for the funnies and pay ourselves one dollar, can lead to some funny jokes with Carrie.

Prop fees, considering we are going to be mimicking Hollywood and its production stuff, I figure that 1.5 million is a relatively safe bet. Makeup, 425k, mainly to round it out with the 75k from editing for decent round numbers. Then 1 million as a safety net. Thus that leaves our production budget with $5.5 million and presumably 4.5 million for advertising.

@Magoose Remind me again, do we need to include the advertising budget and the rest in other Expenses or can we just leave the rest of the budget out of the plan and thus it will automatically go into ads? Also will Bruce have an acting role in the film?

[X] Plan Long Live the Queen

My only gripe is that Bruce should be paid only a penny instead of a full dollar. :p

Movie Pitch: Rama and Sita
Ever since I finished with the Sidestory about Hindu Mythology, the story of the Ramayana has remained stuck in my head. The fact that the Jim Henson Thread also made a movie about the Ramayana was another incentive as it did make the push for making this pitch more possible than would have been otherwise. The tales of adventure and love that is the epic, the fight against the Demon King Ravana (and that's just another interesting character that deserves his own movie!) is an amazing tale that deserves to be known far and wide.

This one took me a while, mostly because while this came from inspiration from the Henson thread, at the same time I was not exactly sure if I wanted to follow their choices for voice actors or directors when it came to this film. Not to mention that the title, though interesting, felt somewhat flat in my opinion. I do prefer the one that I put since I think it explains the main focus on how this movie, though it has adventure, fighting, and friendship, at its core is a tale about Rama and Sita, and their relationship.

Though perhaps we could make some changes, like instead of Sita having to immolate herself to prove her purity we could have her be nearly immolated during the escape from Ravana, but surviving and revealing her nature as an Avatar of Lakshmi. I just don't think it's a good idea to show the hero refuse the heroine because of the implication of what she may have been doing...and then have her immolate herself to prove she's still pure! I mean, I know that later on he says he knew all along and this was to prove to others the truth, but what the hell hero?!?

I'm also considering making a TV Show about the other parts of the Ramayana rather than just this part, since I think there is so much material that we could very well make use of it, not to mention that after seeing an interesting art style, I now want to see if Genndy Tartakovsky could be the director for said cartoon in the future. It would be so awesome!

Thus, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
Rama and Sita

GENRE: Action/Adventure/Romance

SUBGENRE: Buddy Cop/Musical/Comedy

FORMAT: Animated Movie

Set Up: Based on the Hindu Epic The Ramayana. The story follows Rama, Sita, as well as the former's brother Lakshmana near the end of their fourteen-year exile in the Dandaka Forest. However their adventures are soon threatened when Ravana, the Rakshasa King of Lanka, kidnaps Sita in order to marry her. What follows is an epic road trip where the siblings must face the many Rakshasas in their path, their own doubts and fears, as well as make alliances to face what very well may be one of the hardest fights there's been so far.

Director: Brad Bird
Composer: Krishna Das

Rama: He is an Avatar of Vishnu, brother of Lakshmana, and husband to Sita. He's a brave, charismatic man who tries to follow the good of the world, as well as keep the laws for Dharma, though he struggle occasionally with them and moral dilemmas as well. Rama is an accomplished warrior, prone to jokes, but mostly trying to keep a serious demeanor. He mostly refuses to accept help, believing that he should be the one to bear all responsibilities. During the story, he grows out of it, realizing that there is no shame in accepting help.

Played By: Art Malik
Alternate: Mel Gibson

Sita: She is the adopted daughter of King Janaka of Videha, and the wife of Rama. She is a calm, self-sacrificing, and serene woman, whose behavior bellies her courage, quick wittedness, and temper once it is roused. Though she may give the impression, she is no doormat, making her will and opinion known and willing to stand for them, even to the point of fighting. Unknown to nearly everyone, she is in fact the reincarnation of Vedavati, an Avatar of Lakshmi, the wife of Vishnu, which was why Ravana had kidnapped her.

Played By: Meg Ryan
Alternate: Jodi Benson

Ravana: He is the Rakshasa King of Lanka, a demon with over 20 arms and 10 heads. He gained boons from the gods thanks to his sacrifices, making him nearly immortal, as well as granting him a mystical sword that would allow him to destroy nearly anyone he faced. Though a ruler on his own right, he's also arrogant, petty, and oddly charismatic. He kidnaps Sita after seeing her once and deciding to take her as his wife, and though many see it as just another whim of his, in reality he was able to determine her true nature as an Avatar of Lakshmi.

Played By: Gary Oldman
Alternate: Lance Henriksen
Lakshmana: He is Rama's brother and the narrator of the tale. A loyal warrior to his brother, though also somewhat irreverent and funny, with the occasional wink and nod to the audience as he breaks the 4th Wall during the narration. Lakshmana is a reliable man who always has his brother's back, and though he usually lets his brother take the lead, he also proves himself during the trip to rescue Sita, his own abilities coming to the fore.

Played By: Aasif Mandvi
Alternate: Aamir Khan

Kabandha: He is a vicious flesh-eating Rakshasa, a giant that was cursed by Ravana to forever roam and eat human flesh yet never be satisfied. Rama and Lakshmana find him during their search for Sita, with Rama following tracks of destruction. Kabandha manages to lead them on a merry chase, or lead them astray until they finally corner him and defeat him, thus freeing him from his curse, though admitting he does not know where Sita is. Before his death, he tells them the location of the Vanaras and their King, who might help him in his search.

Played By: Jonathan Freeman
Alternate: Jim Cummings

Hanuman: He is a Vanara, a follower of Sugriva, and one of the best fighters among the Vanaras. Hanuman is hot blooded, aggressive, and loves a good fight. he is also however quick to forgive, jovial, and loves a good prank. He met Rama as the latter was looking for the Vanara Kingdom, challenging him to a fight, where he grew to respect him due to his prowess and his determination to never give up. After reinstating Sugriva as the King, he joins Rama in his quest to save Sita.

Played By: Robin Williams
Alternate: Hank Azaria

Narantaka & Devantaka: They are the Rakshasa sons of the Rakshasa King Ravana, sent after Rama and his group after Hanuman managed to find out the location of where Sita is. Their names meaning "Destroyer of Men" and "Destroyer of Gods" respectively, reflect their power, making them nearly impossible to defeat when they both work together. Hanuman, Rama and Lakshmi managed to separate them and deal with them on their own, thus showing to the Vanara Kingdom that they can be defeated, thus gaining their aid in fighting Ravana.

Played By: Danny Glover
Alternate: Sylvester Stallone
Vibhishana: He is the younger brother of Ravana, yet as unlike him as possible. He is usually the voice of reason in the court, trying to convince Ravana to stop his wicked ways or to not kidnap Sita. His final act, to aid Hanuman escape from the guards when they discover him, has him exiled from Lanka, with him eventually meeting Rama when he arrives, telling him of the way to defeat Ravana once and for all.

Played By: Ben Kingsley

Sugriva: He is the Monkey King of the Vanaras, who took over after his brother Vali disappeared, but was deposed when Vali once more came back and falsely accused him of trying to kill him. Sugriva ran rather than causing a Civil War, hiding with is adherents until Rama came, telling him of his journeys, and of the tyranny under which the Vanaras lived in, finally agreeing to stop Vali once and for all.

Played By: Douglas Seale

Shurpanakha: She is a female shapeshifter Rakshasa who tried to seduce both Rama and Lakshama at the beginning, and when they both refused her she tried to kill them in anger, and failed. Her actions afterwards, going to King Ravana (Her brother) in order to seek his help in her revenge, set the beginning of the adventure, as Ravana finds Sita and prepares to abduct her.

Played By: Sharon Stone

Dushana & Khara: They are the brothers of Shurpanakha, sent by King Ravana in order to kill Rama and Lakshama, but in reality they are to serve as distractions (sacrifices) while Ravana kidnaps Sita. They are bloodthirsty, vicious fighters, though dumber than a sack of rocks, and constantly fighting among themselves, which end up being their downfall when facing the other pair of brothers.

Played By: Gilbert Gottfried
Jatayu: A divine bird in the form of an eagle, and former friend of Sita's father. He joins Rama during his adventures in order to look after Sita, and is captured by Ravana when he aids Hanuman escape from Ravana's palace, facing against Ravana, and eventually dying at his hand. Jatayu is loyal, caring, and a source of comfort for Sita during her imprisonment.

Played By: Frank Welker

A.N.: I was not sure if I should make this movie for this decade or the 90s, but in the end I decided to try for the 80s. After all, right here and now we have a chance to better display some of the most interesting and groundbreaking projects for animation, and I want this movie to be one of them. Hopefully, this is something that everyone can like.
