Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

[X] Plan: All Things in Balance
-[X] 1. Luke Cage (Marvel TV Show)
-[X] 2. Discovering HEMA (TV Mini-Series)
-[X] 3. Psych (Police Procedural)
-[X] 4. G. I. Joe: A Real American Hero (Rise of Cobra)
-[X] 5. The Amazing Spider-Man (MCAU)
-[X] 6. Atomic Betty (Hannah-Barbera)

Alright, this is one idea plan, though I may change it later on. Basically, I want us to start with Marvel's own TV universes, both Live Action and animated, so Luke Cage and Spider-Man respectively. HEMA in order to push it even further than what it is at the moment, and grab the momentum it probably has. Psych, because it is a good show and it does seem to be fresh enough to be doing right now when mostly police procedurals are still relatively popular. G.I. Joe because we promised to do so, and we might as well begin the preparations, and Atomic Betty because it is a fun show that will highlight the levels of originality and creativity of Hannah-Barbera, now regarded as the sick man of animation.

Yeah, I think we need to try and aim for a healthy balance between the different kinds of shows we have to start out with.
Looking back, I should have tagged them by genre too, huh.

Let me just add that.
[X] Plan Giving Farnsworth Credit
-[X] 1. After Hours (Indiana Jones | Monster of the Week Anthology Series)
-[X] 2. Chicago By Night (HanShot1st's Pitch | Neo-Noir Dramedy Series)
-[X] 3. Deus Ex: Eureka (Cyberpunk | Sci-Fi / Dramedy Series)
-[X] 4. Mother of Four (Moon's Pitch | Slice of Life Sitcom)
-[X] 5. The Amazing Spider-Man (MCAU | Superhero Animated Series)
-[X] 6. Woodrow Wilson: America's Shame (overmind's Pitch | Historical Drama)
1. Action Adventure / Sci-Fantasy (Monster of the Week), Anthology Series
2. Neo-Noir Dramedy Series
3. Sci-Fi (Cyberpunk) / Dramedy
4. Slice of Life Sitcom
5. Adaption / Animated Series
6. Historical Drama

Figured this was a good enough spread for its first year on air, as it gave us a chance to show off a wide selection for the audience and critics alike.

I know I'm kind of arguing against my own interests here, but I think it might be worth replacing Psych with something else, probably a game show or something for the "Littles," because we have Magnum P.I. lined up for LucasTV. Although I suppose that depends on when that actually comes through. @Magoose, any word on when Magnum P.I. is getting made?

It might also be worth replacing Atomic Betty with The Nguyens, since it's also outlined to be made by Hannah-Barbera and it's different enough from everything else being offered as of now on LucasTV.

Hmmm, what do you think would work better; Talent, Mafia, or Legends of the Hidden Temple?

Yes

I'm a little bit worried about Discovering HEMA not fitting in with the rest of the shows. Documentaries can be fun but it's a different kind of entertainment then the other shows.

The point is generally to show that we have a lot to offer and that we're viable as a new TV Station/Channel, so having a wide array of content is good for that to start with.

Understandably, but by that logic it still highlights the fact that the majority of overmind's plan is heavily skewed toward Action-Adventure genres that would appeal to the male demographic, to the point where the HEMA Documentary sticks out like a sore thumb since it's the only offering that isn't heavily fictionialized and it's still heavily geared toward action.

While I think that wasn't the intention, it's still a bad read for a brand new channel on launch to offer little else besides what Lucasfilm is already known for, like what about the folk who just want to sit down and watch a sitcom?

Oh no, I definitely agree. I just didn't have time to contest the rest or suggest others because I was in the middle of something.

I tend to leave sitcoms to those shows that we can acquire instead of our own pitches. Whcih is why I asked Magoose if we could acquire other shows for our channel.

I think Legends of the Hidden Temple is the best for a more traditional game show, but Mafia and Talent are very bold and different offerings so probably one of those. Personally, I favor Mafia, but Talent works just as well.
Good points. I'll change my plan for the following then:

[X] Plan: All Things in Balance 2.0
-[X] 1. Luke Cage (Marvel TV Show)
-[X] 2.
Lyberty's Crystal Skeleton (AH Detective Show)
-[X] 3.
The Nguyens (Animated Slice of Life)
-[X] 4. G. I. Joe: A Real American Hero (Animation OVA/Mini-Series)
-[X] 5.
Joan of Arcadia (Drama/Mystery)
-[X] 6. Atomic Betty (Hannah-Barbera)

Now, this plan has more of my pitches in it, but perhaps a bit more variety between the shows.

Luke Cage is more action oriented, and based on a Marvel property.

Lyberty's Crystal Skeleton is an Alternate History detective procedural that tries to solve a mystery while also granting enviromental storytelling.

The Nguyens would go well as a slice of life story, plus is animated.

G.I. Joe because, well, it's G.I Joe, we should show what's going to be a Franchise for us.

Joan of Arcadia. Well, I think it works as a teen drama at a time where they've yet to be made.

Atomic Betty because it's an adventure animated show that can be seen by both boys and girls altogether.

I am willing to entertain making changes however.

[X] Plan Return of the Radar
-[X] Luke Cage
-[X] Liberty's Crystal Skeleton
-[X] The Gentleman's Club
-[X] The Nguyens
-[X] Mafia
-[X] Atomic Betty
-[X] GI Joe: Rise of Cobra

Luke Cage to start off the Marvel TV Universe. It's a nice grounded super hero story, will probably give audiences vibes similar to Hulk, and it's a good way to introduce more Black-lead shows and give spotlight to a great hero.

Liberty's Crystal Skull can give very similar vibes to Fallout, it capitalizes on the recent backlash against the Lost Cause as bullshit, is probably a gateway show to alternate history fiction and can do wonders for the genre, and has cool noir and action stuff.

Gentelman's Club is an excellent Duke William pitch and I always want to support pitches of the original GM when I can. It will really capitalize off of the recent massive success of Indiana Jones as a smash hit on Nielsen, and we got a cool and colorful cast with plenty of 19th century adventures.

The Nguyens will be our Simpsons/Flintstones and can reintroduce casual primetime TV for adult audiences. Nice stuff for all audiences while handling some mature themes but still being relatable and wholesome. Think Asian Bob's Burgers.

Mafia for a cool game show that'll be fun for everyone. Reallly take a twist on the genre and have lots of interesting different groups.

Atomic Betty for a cool and fun space show, builds off of Star Wars popularity and plays some elements of Miraculous.

GI Joe so we can begin the series proper next year, and we do kind of need GI. Joe as a mainstay of the 80s so we can build off of the toy lineup to help fund the rest of our shows.

In addition to all of this, we will have
  • Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
  • Cupid
  • Lawyer's Dozen
  • Marvel Anime

I plan to spend subsequent turns with free actions networking to get OTL shows on our network. Generally family orientated shows and more all ages content to balance out our audience taste. Target will be Family Ties, Voyagers!, Newhart, St. Elsewhere.

...Bloody hell, I'd forgotten about that. It was the Walmart early beta version of my LoEG style ideas, but it's pretty much just alt-historical stuff instesd of the urban fantasy my newer stuff is, so I don't think people will compain about unoriginality too much.

Yeah, I'm changing my vote. I wish that Atomic Betty might be done, but perhaps we might get a chance at the next annual plan. @Schehera Zade , i also recommend you support it, though of course it's your choice.
