Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Do we have an idea of Russia's/soviet reaction to the film? On the one hand Cherno Alpha and his crew have become very positive Russian/sovietic popular icons but on the other hand Russia is not shown in its best day in the series if I understand correctly.
That's true, but the text does mention that they protect the people that were abandoned, so it could be implied that the Soviet Union washed their hands of it's eastern holdings, but Cherno Alpha and its pilots refused and remained there nonetheless, perhaps forming a different nation altogether from the people and infrastructure remaining.

I don't know, I just like the idea of a "Republic of Vladivostok" existing.

Pacific Rim isn't a film, it's a show here. Secondly, not many places are doing that well, so it's not like Russia is unique in that. Ultimately, if it managed to get past the censors, which I highly doubt, I think the presentation of Cherno Alpha and her pilots, Sasha and Alexei, would be of greater concern than whether or not the Soviets are one of many nations crippled by the Kaiju invasion.

Movie Pitch Hush
Thought I'd do a quick pitch on this recent gem(shit, I just realized it's actually been almost a decade since this released). This film originally came out in 2016, directed by Mike Flannagan, a very impressive horror director, having also made the likes of Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House. He cowrote this film with his wife, Kate Siegel, who also played the heroine of the film. When I first watched this film, I pretty much instantly fell in love with it. It was well acted, well written, well directed, the works. It did an incredible job of generating real tension and concern in me. That scene where Maddie tells the killer that he can leave because she hasn't seen his face and won't tell anyone about what happened, and then he removes his mask, essentially condemning her to death, was incredible and one of my favorites in the film. Kate Siegel does a phenomenal job as Maddie and you really connect with her and her desperate attempts at survival against the sadistic prick who decides to torment her, just because. She does an excellent job walking the line between vulnerable and badass. I chose Marlee Matlin to replace her for this pitch since she was an actual deaf actress in the 80s-90s and was seemingly very talented, so I thought she would fit well. John Gallagher Jr plays the killer and he does an incredible job as this evil, sadistic psychopath toying with his victim, just because he can. I chose Kevin Bacon to replace him because I think Kevin has both the acting chops as well as a very eerie facial structure. He just looks like a bad guy, and I've always thought he could play Eobard Thawne. There's so many other trivia or interesting things that I want to say about this film, like how there are only 15 minutes of dialogue throughout the nearly 80 minute run of the film or how Flannagan and his wife came up with ways for the killer to gain entry into the house by having Flannagan practice breaking into their own home, but I'll leave it as is so that I'm not gushing incessantly. If you haven't seen this film before, I 100% recommend you try and find a way to watch it. It's great. I envisioned this film being made in the 80s, but with how I casted it, it can easily work for the 90s as well. Without further ado, enjoy the pitch!

So now the we are know as THE Mecha Studio how hard do y'all think it'll be to create evangellion?

Honestly I have to wonder if Evangelion will be made here, and if it does if it will gain even a fraction of its popularity. With how we've been making mechas and focusing on serious war dramas and lots of character instrospection, I don't think there's much of anything for Evangelion to subvert since we already did that with Pacific Rim, which Zade noted is basically an optimistic Evangelion. Strictly speaking, Evangelion is nothing new, and the conflict of Evas vs. Angels is just gonna be seen as a Pacific Rim clone, the main difference being the religious aesthetics of the Angels and the Evas biological nature. I could easily see audiences overall seeing Evangelion as way too dark and needlessly depressing, fumbling over what other mecha anime did right. If it's made, it could fall into obscurity and be a cult classic rather than an icon of the genre.

The only reason we'd really have to create Evangelion is if we have Hideaki Anno, and from there he would make Evangelion based off of his depression and how his past series failed, something which likely wouldn't happen if he was a Sunrise/Dreamworks employee. So really the only way to have Evangelion made is outside Lucasfilms, maybe as a Disney anime, lol.

By the way, considering how much of a success Pacific Rim has become, I want to pitch Mobile Fighter G Gundam soon and have Noboru direct it. It's the perfect next step for Dreamworks and I would love if G Gundam became mainstream and iconic.

Do we have a Games Division? Not sure if that was greenlight yet.

When we did our expansion we created LucasArts and we're actually working on our own console. Really hope we can acquire Sega in the near future because they are about to be sold by Gulf Western and I can easily see Bruce acquiring them, so we can use Sonic in Dreamworks movies.

Wait, we are?! I thought we were only creating a games division to become a third party company. Why would we want to enter the console war at all?

I was convinced by Nova when they pointed out we can make a strong insert into the console market when we have such a good foundation in tech that we can make real good consoles and games and Lucasfilms has been leading the way in everything else.

Hmm..

If only touchscreens are created soon..

How soon?

From Wikipedia Touchscreen - Wikipedia

1984 FIRST PROJECTED CAPACITANCE TOUCHSCREEN PATENT- A capacitance keypad and touchscreen, capable of multi-touch, that could "project" touch sensing through several centimeters of air and other non-conductive materials, was invented by a British inventor, Ron Binstead

The background work for touchscreens had been going on since at least 1946. the breakthrough was caused by more impressive computer chips and coding able to be more sensitive.

Possibly Bruce should talk to Gavin and use his purchase of Apple to encourage research in that direction.
commercially available ones in aircraft cars and bank machines started appearing by 1985

Well yeah, we could. But should we? I mean, don't get me wrong it would be awesome to take the lead, but at the same time we're putting ourselves in direct competition with both Sony and Nintendo (even if we would be ahead of them for a while) and though I could care less what happens to Sony, I do care about Nintendo and their properties. Heck, the only reason Nintendo managed to even continue down their videogame path and expand was because of the lack of competition in the American market, which allow for more games and franchises to be created andd exported.

And I don't want to live in a world where Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy does not exist. Let alone one where they do exist and we can't make adaptations of them because we are now the competition.

...Though, if we can get Shigeru Miyamoto to work for us I may change my tune.

We're a company the only thing we do is compete with other companies so even if we stop ourselfs at third party software we still would compete with them on game sales.

Nintendo would see the same black hole in the video game market as Bruce and just because they have some competition doesn't mean they will throw away the towel at the extremely profitable american market with only ONE domestic company offering pushback.
And I don't want to live in a world where Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy does not exist. Let alone one where they do exist and we can't make adaptations of them because we are now the competition.
I'm agreeing with Zade, If Nintendo wants to do a movie they could always hit us up. We don't need to be arch enemies for all time and we could request each others services when needed for example: Industial light and magic or DC and Batman.
