Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I've read that there's talk about starting Dune next year by having Bruce be the Director. I would propose that doing so would only make the movies less than what they could be at the moment. Francis Ford Coppola has his own talents and can make an amazing sage with the material, given the entire political theme and the undercurrent of suspicion, mystery and suspense that the first movie has.

If anything, I would say Bruce would be more suited to directing the second part of the movie as that one deals more with the action adn war scenes, but the first part needs Francis to direct it. As such, let's just leave it as it is, and try for Dune the year after when Francis is more rested and willing to take on the film.

On the other hand, making another director make Kung Fu Kid would work as well, and better start now before Karate Kid beats us to it.

And then next year Francis is still doesn't want to do it because he's tired or some other BS. This is a never ending situation where we waste potential revenue to satisfy a director's urge to delay. Either he does it or we find someone else who does want to do it.

BTW what's our plan for the Lord of the Rings? Because that's another IP that's rotting in our liabrary.

Francis has been ready to film it since 1979. The only reason he hasn't it's because we haven't given him the go ahead...mainly perhaps because of my own preference to wait until 1981 to have the actors and technology required to make it great.

That Francis wanted to take a break in 81 is not something we could ahve predicted. He's only done a single movie for us after all.

The plan was to test the technology with Dune, and after proving its worthiness go for The Hobbit. Afterwards, I wanted to wait a bit until Peter Jackson already a director and ready to do Lord of the Rings.

You must have more patience then me, because that's not fun. I want to make movies not sit on our assess and twideling our tumbs for better tech and the 'right' actors or director.

I don't want to be mean but this constant waiting and waiting and waiting is really annoying. Why Peter Jackson? I know he directed the OTL movies but why him? Why after Dune which also suffered delays? Should we also wait untill 2001 too? We got a whole group of elite talant.
(This isn't an insult BTW just my expressing my impatience)

My pitch for Dune included some actors which would not be available until then. You can of course look for other actors if you want, I just gave a pitch for it.

I wanted to wait for Peter Jackson beacuse i admire his adaptation, and feel it's one of the best ones ever done when it comes to adapting a book into a movie. i know many would have prefered him to remain more loyal to the book, but I think he did the right choices, was able to keep to the spirit of what the book was trying to say, and also made it more accesible to a wider audience.

And I don't findi it annoying to wait. Do I sometimes which I could make some of the movies now rather than later? Yes, I would. But I also know that we need patience if we want to make the best movies rather than another has been.

I'm not a LOTR fan and i've not seen the movies but surely Spielberg or Bruce or someone else can direct it in the same way. Jackson does not own the monopoly on adapting a popular series for main stream consumption.

But this line of thought cannot be expressed in the mechanics of this quest. Is there a rule which said that if we delay or have these people on that we have higher sales or praise? No. This is in your head. There is no differance if we released this movie in '80 or in '89. So this waiting is baseless.

Look man, you do you. I enjoy the waiting and setting the best actors and directors in my opinion. You want something else, then fine. Put your proposal to the players.
