Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Magoose, can we still distribute Toho films until 1980, it's just that there's a chance that Disney and Universal may distribute them first if we fail the roll?
THe crit failure took that away, and now you have to try and... you know...

battle Disney and universal.

Don't worry you can sue.

Looks like Michael Myers got an upgrade. 3.5 times the budget for almost five times the profit it made OTL. The power of being backed by the Mouse.

I remember hearing somewhere that horror films, even the crappy ones, tend to be very profitable. Most tend to have small sets and casts and more small scale special effects. Not to mention you can cover up things using darkness in a way you can't in other genres. Very cheap to make with a generally a very high rate of return sometimes even if it's a bomb.

Nice we cleared things up with Christopher Lee and there's no hard feelings. Maybe we could get him a part in Return/Revenge of the Jedi.

Sunrise:D100 => 72

New action avalible…

Sunrise is wanting us to buy them out.

Mostly because Mike is really fucking good at his job.
...These are the guys who will make Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass. We are buying them.

If we buy them, do we get options for their animes and in getting adaptations from Mangakas?

I mean, can you imagine making adaptations of Rumiko Takahashi's mangas with our level of animation?

Yes and no.

As in sunrise will most likely ask for autonomy and let themselves be for Japanese market… kinda like the Disney Pixar arrangement when they were first bought out.

Mostly because they like us and trust us, but they are smart enough to know that we don't know Japan and what the people want there like they do.

Also there is a very high likely hood that animators from both dreamworks, pixar and sunrise will all be swamped around and working on various projects interchangeably as well as sunrises work culture becoming far more American…

Meaning that the animators won't be Burnt out husks in a year or two and will be filthy rich by the industry standards.

Also we don't have to rely on Toho for distributing our films in Japan.

So that's a plus.

Also they have the output to make lots of quality tv shows.

Sunrise: I can't give you the 90s Catalogue, my Writers for that are too young...I can give you good fight scenes and Gundam.

Why are you turning Disney into the eldrich abomination that it is currently… why it isn't that all consuming monster yet

That's fair. But can we at least recommend for them to try and make Anime adaptations from other Mangaka's? For example, Rumiko Takahashi's works, Akira Toriyama, or even Hirohiko Araki?
Also there is a very high likely hood that animators from both dreamworks, pixar and sunrise will all be swamped around and working on various projects interchangeably as well as sunrises work culture becoming far more American…

This is going to have so many repercussions...hell, whay is Miyazaki going to think about this, considering that we are supposed to be this big Capitalist enemy, yet we are treating our workers so much better than what he or the rest are doing?

Man, we are going o have so many people wanting to work for us!
Also we don't have to rely on Toho for distributing our films in Japan.

So that's a plus.

Also they have the output to make lots of quality tv shows.
Wait, Sunrise does more than Anime?!

*Quick Check*

Well, not yet, but we could branch out into it with the right amount of investment.

Oh hey! They actually made animation for both Thundercats and Batman: The Animated Series. Who whould've known?

That would require breaking bread with Jump.

And other things would have to happen, that goes our way.

Also you may or may not get Araki in the 80s he did make a fa film of gundam and Star Wars after all.

Yep but no comment.

Yep I did.

So by having the sunrise animator being paid more can we grab a part of the toho animators too by making them not feel dead inside after a project

You know, I hope that we can offer the same deal with other animation studios in the future... And not only Japanese studios, but also european studios like Procidis (Il était une fois) or Aardman Animations (Wallace & Gommit)
Also there is a very high likely hood that animators from both dreamworks, pixar and sunrise will all be swamped around and working on various projects interchangeably as well as sunrises work culture becoming far more American…

Dammit, does that mean that the competition may force Animation studios to get better work conditions for their own workers? So that in the future KyoAni is not the only animation studio that treats its workers with some dignity?
That would require breaking bread with Jump.
Well, another networking action for the queue...

Besides that @Magoose after having proven Dreamworks worth with Gundam... Would it be possible to acquire Hana Barbera?

So I've been browsing the Youtubes and found something incredible!

Peter Cullin narrating the channel and us calling our Channel Toonami would fill me with so much joy. Also it would be so awesome.

So I guess the animation for the remaster is considered to be the OG animation for Mobile Suit Gundam here?

Also has Gundam and Star Wars increased public interest in space exploration and aerospace development?

Nice we cleared things up with Christopher Lee and there's no hard feelings. Maybe we could get him a part in Return/Revenge of the Jedi.

With Disney already showing they can do horror strongly in War of the Worlds and Black Hole, I imagine the public would be excited and any backlash from long-time fans would be minimal. Halloween was already strong OTL as a completely independent film, but with the marketing push by Disney it truly became a powerhouse, aided in no small part by the Goose being frightened which is a selling point in and of itself.

With Christopher it helps that while he missed out on Obi-wan and acting with his best friend Peter, he at least got to correct his OTL greatest mistake with Halloween and I imagine with a greater budget and probable greater runtime that Lee has more space to shine and might get an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor. Also we can still get him as Dooku like OTL.

Totally down for this and giving Sunrise heavy Pixar like autonomy. They more than deserve it after all the hard work for Gundam and while not the best, are usually pretty reliable in quality and produce some of the most iconic shows in anime. They make whatever they want for Japan and we help with global distribution and dubbing, especially with getting their shows to the US. Most excited to get Cowboy Bebop, Patlabor, Planetes and the Big O out of this, and for the latter I imagine it's going to take a lot more inspiration from Batman thanks to Bruce.

Cool that we'll have such a vibrant exchange of people and ideas between the studios. Also Sunrise adopting American culture is definitely a big W and one can only imagine how the butterflies will take place for the animation industry when everyone starts noticing their Sunrise colleagues are happy, healthy and very rich while making better work. Makes me imagine an episode of Shirobako where top dog animation studio "Sunset" announces a new hiring wave and everyone in the studio is rushing with thousands of other animators to get any spot they can.

Also very bold of Toho that they're going to drop the partnership with Lucasfilms when we still have two Star Wars films to make in the next five years.

Magoose, can we dedicate an action to creating a subsidiary dedicated to dubbing Lucasfilms projects, both English dubbing for imports and foreign language dubs for Lucasfilms proper films? Something like O'Brian Records?

So with sunrise becoming more of an American work environment would that possibly make Japan forced to adapt to us so they can create beautiful Art

If Sunrise and Dreamworks are a massive success then me thinks that KyoAni is going to adopt their modern work culture from birth and everyone but the most corporate studios will follow suit. Hell, we may have a cultural civil war between Japanese conservatives who believe in a rigid and authoritarian structure and progressives who want pro-worker environments. If the latter wins then we may heavily mitigate or reverse Japan's population decline.

This is going to have so many repercussions...hell, whay is Miyazaki going to think about this, considering that we are supposed to be this big Capitalist enemy, yet we are treating our workers so much better than what he or the rest are doing?

There's also the heavy irony that Miyazaki's most treasured value and theme of his works is family and yet the man is a workaholic who heavily neglected his kids to the point they consider him a practical stranger, and meanwhile Bruce always makes sure there's time in his schedule to be a loving father to Mary.

Also you may or may not get Araki in the 80s he did make a fa film of gundam and Star Wars after all.

Pretty damn cool. Definitely possible since Araki had a really rough start until he released JoJo and with Dreamworks offering an outlet he may think that making a fresh start in America would be best. Would be totally awesome if Dreamworks made JoJo in the 90s with Studio David levels of animation quality. Also if we make JoJo, then we can use our wealth and connections with the music industry to make it so that when Stands appear that their corresponding song plays at the same time as an introduction.

Would be so cool if Araki choses some of Carrie's songs for his stands.

If we cause a cultural Civil war in Japan I can imagine that we make the Japanese Union and workers finally the backbone they needed and then I can see how Japan will be forced to confront themselves on perfectionism

That or accept that if you want perfection you have to pay for it and a reasonable timeframe.
I mean, Eichiro Oda himself knows and accepts it. He's on the record saying that he only sees his family once a week because he knows that if he does more than that he would miss them too much and he would not be able to devote as much time to One Piece as he wants. The man has dedication, and the ambition to make a truly one of a kind saga.

What's everyone's thoughts on doing a Lion King Pitch but translated to humans instead of Lions? I was looking at some human Disney character fanart and came across a bunch of Lion King and thought they looked really good, I just want to know how everyone else feels about it or if we should just leave that film to Disney/wherever Katzenberg ends up.

Besides that @Magoose after having proven Dreamworks worth with Gundam... Would it be possible to acquire Hana Barbera?
Possibly.
So I guess the animation for the remaster is considered to be the OG animation for Mobile Suit Gundam here?
YEp.

It's amazing.
Also has Gundam and Star Wars increased public interest in space exploration and aerospace development?
THe only thing I will say is yes.
Magoose, can we dedicate an action to creating a subsidiary dedicated to dubbing Lucasfilms projects, both English dubbing for imports and foreign language dubs for Lucasfilms proper films? Something like O'Brian Records?
You most certinaly can.

THough you might want to try calling it the Goose's Gardan. :V
