Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Like Duke said, it's an Irish studio we bought as a subsidiary of ours and it handles our European distribution, as well as beginning to produce original content.
So far, their biggest achievement is making A Classical Tale succeed hard in Ireland and the British Isles.
Damn. Lucasfilm has a lot in the animation field. Hanna-Barbera, Dreamworks, Sunrise and now Admore? What's next? Nelvana? Leave some stuff for the competition.......

But I have a idea that just might work for Admore.

Or rather, Admore + Dreamworks.....basically, ADAC(Admore-Dreamworks Animated Canon). Basically, like Disney's earlier animated movies, but actually good. We'd still use public domain stuff and adaptations of books and stuff, but I'm gonna try to make them more action-y so we can become the Western Sunrise.

For clarification Ardmore didn't make A Classic Tale. They just handled the distribution and promotion of it in Ireland and Great Britain.
I'm talking about the studio, not the movie.

Also, what public domain legend/character should start this off? Thor? Frankenstein? Hercules? Mulan?

Oh, Mulan would be a good film for Sunrise to get involved with considering it's themes and the fact that Mulan is an Asian story.

I'm thinking Mulan could be a Admore/Dreamworks/Sunrise film.

But on another note, I probably will go for maybe...an twist on Alice In Wonderland...an more gothic twist perhaps?

One thing that puts an interesting perspective on the current Satanic Panic.

Well, we may be doing something that in-quest may later be called a war for America's soul, as the Satanic panic morphs into a war between the Puritan Origin American Values crew, and Bruce O'Brian, champion of the arts and an alternate view of what America could be.

Already made pitches for Hercules and Mulan.

I have an idea for a Pitch like that. Cuerrently, I've made a pitch for a darker Snow White, as well as Hansel and Gretel. For Alice, I'm thinking either a movie or a TV animated Mini-Series.

A proper Frankenstein which properly adapts the source material would be very fun. Play on the themes of self determination, what we owe to the ones around us and how we are shaped by our origins

There are many rewards I want to give:

But instead, I will do this.

1985 or 1986 is when I see us doing the movie if we can get the script, and it will be glorious!

Edit: Thinking it over, @Magoose I think I'd like to change my reward to this other option:

[X]Martial Arts movies are back in business (New Actions Are Available.)

Since it gives us new actions, I can only hope it means we get to do Mortal Kombat soon.

With our technology level being 20 years ahead, I think we can make it by the 90s.

Wonder what those are going to be? I can guess one them is going to be Stardust Memory because it would bid the original Gundam and Zeta with the reason for the Titans to form in the first place.

So the second is either 08th MS Team or War in the Pocket. While I like 08th I feel more strongly about the tragically of War in the Pocket would be better remembered.

I'll choose this. Want everything behind the scenes to be good and having a good relationship with Bandai, especially so we can use them as an in for Super Sentai later. Fun fact, I looked it up and apparently we technically co-own the rights to three Super Sentai series thanks to them being Marvel co-productions. Those are Battle Fever J, Denshi Sentai Denjiman, and Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan. So we can totally broadcast those three series on LucasTV alongside Japanese Spiderman.

I found this interesting video about OTL DreamWorks, and when comparing it with it with what we have created...well, holy shit was it a freaking mess! Seriously, it was like they had no single overreaching objective or goal beyond "Be the Best" and "Stick it to Disney". They spread so thin over so many different divisions that it's a wonder that they managed to make Kung Fu Panda or Puss in Boots (not to mention How to Train Your Dragon).

If there's one thing we must all agree on after watching this video is: do not let Steven Spielberg try his hand at videogame production.

If there's one thing we must all agree on after watching this video is: do not let Steven Spielberg try his hand at videogame production.
Or if we do do that: Make sure he understands that we are not going to give him infinite money to do it.

Even though George might do something similer for a star wars game. :V

We'll also need to hammer that a game, most of all, needs to be fun to both of them.

If the gameplay loop isn't good, people aren't gonna buy it to see the story.

Well regarding "alternative" western animation, there are plans to buy as subsidiaries Aardman once Wallace and Gromit put them on the spotlight, and Jim Henson's Company once the poor Jim ends up so burned out by Hollywood politics that he wants an out of all that crap so that he can focus on the puppets alone...

And if we want to expand our anime operations nothing prevents us from buying other small Japanese Animation Studios like Madhouse, KyoAni, or Gainax... Which I would like to do if only more animators of their awful working conditions...

Movie Pitch: Overlord
Alright then, this movie is one that has quite a few problems, mainly the fact that it's historically inaccurate beyond what one would think Alternate History would be. There is also the fact that the villains sometimes just don't seem that threatening at first, and the final battle just doesn't seem to have that tension that grips you as you want the good guys to win. Oddly enough, I still like it, since the premise is interesting and I'm always a sucker for movies or stories that have the Nazis working on supernatural stuff or wild experiments that could have given them an edge during WW II.

I've added some changes which I think can improve the movie in some small way. However, the rest I mostly leave to the director selected for it, since I believe his style can only improve both dialogue, aesthetic and entertainment. Though I don't know if this movie will become a blockbuster, it is my hope that it can at the very least achieve Cult Classic status.

Thus, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
Overlord

GENRE: Horror/Thriller/Adventure

SUBGENRE: Science Fiction/Alternate History/Zombie

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: France, June 1944. On the night before D-Day, a squad of American paratroopers are sent behind enemy lines to destroy a German radio-jamming tower, only to be shot down and regrouping with different squads to accomplish their mission. As the surviving soldiers close in on their crucial target, soon, they realize that there's more to the Nazi-occupied village than meets the eye. Now, a sinister, blood-curdling secret hidden in an underground laboratory threatens to change the outcome of WWII. Are the unsuspecting intruders prepared to confront the horrific, unstoppable new menace?

Director: Sam Raimi
Composer: Danny Elfman

- Show that the jump is being done at night, not during the day.

Remove Sgt. Rensin from the movie.

- Don't show that all soldiers are members of the same unit, but instead that they came from different units that were scattered/shot down and had to join together after their officers were killed.

- The 555th Battalion, "The Triple Nickels", an all-black airborne unit, was originally assigned to the Pacific Northwest, however it is implied that they were sent in order to draw away Nazi units away from more important targets.

- Add more conflict between the more idealistic PFC Boyce and the more pragmatic Corporal Ford.

- Add more scenes at the beginning with Wafner and Schmidt in order to build them into credible threats; Wafner threatening or killing those under him, Schmidt looking at those he calls "Subjects" as he prepares his "experiments".

- Chloe is not just a civilian, but is also a member of "La Resistance", which is why she is comfortable using guns and weapons as well as aiding the paratroopers.

- Add more tension by having the soldier group explore the village more and having close calls before Wafner tries to coerce Chloe into having sex with him. Expand with more scenes before so that we can have a more through look at the village, as well as gather clues that the audience slowly piece together. Wafner leads the chase against the group before going to Chloe.

- Show the results of the experiments to be "Zombies", though stronger and more wildly out of control.

- Imply that any contact, or proximity, to the Tar causes mental breakdown, or amplifies one's emotions or psychopathy. Also that neither they nor the villagers even know where it comes from or how it specifically works, only that it grows by giving it fresh bodies. When Ford is injected with it he manages to fight back against the murderous instincts for long enough to destroy it all.

- The discovery of the underground lab and Wafner coercing Chloe happens at the same time, causing chaos in both sides. Wafner is not captured, but is wounded as he escapes, taking Paul as a hostage.

- It's not only Wafter who injects himself with the serum, he also releases the other lesser "Experiments" (I.E. Zombies) in order to hunt after the soldiers. The Home is sieged by them as Boyce and Ford leave to destroy the Lab.
PFC Edward Boyce: He is an idealistic African-American paratrooper and member of "The Triple Nickels", an all-black airborne unit who was reassigned from the Pacific Northwest for a secret mission to go behind enemy lines, and uncovers the Nazi experiments below the church and radio tower they were sent to destroy. He is not naive about the situation, nor what they were sent to do, but he still has a strong moral code that will not allow him to let someone die or be abused in front of him.

Played By: Keith David
Alternate: Laurence Fishburne

Corporal Lewis Ford: He is an explosive expert who previously served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Baker company in Italy. He is reassigned to the 101st Airborne Division and deployed with a company of paratroopers to assist with their vital mission to blow up the radio jamming tower in Ciel Blanc, France, just before D-Day. He often butts heads with PFC Boyce due to their different experiences in the war, and different perspectives on how to proceed with the mission.

Played By: Bruce Willis
Alternate: Kevin Bacon

SS Hauptsturmführer Wafner: He is the commander of the troops in the village, and the highest-ranking officer in the area. He is in charge of the Project involving the "Tar" found underneath the church, and though he does not know from where it comes, he still plans to use it in order to strengthen his troops, allowing human experimentation and sacrifices to use it. He's sociopathic and sadistic, though it is unknown if much of it is due to his exposure to the "Tar".

Played By: Werner Herzog
Alternate: Jürgen Prochnow
Chloe: She is a French member of "La Resistance" who aids the paratroopers, letting them know the lay of the land and who to avoid. She has a younger brother, Paul, who she takes care of, and is usually threatened by Wafner with Paul's safety to accept his advances. She knows first aid and how to use a gun, both skills necessary to survive in her current occupation.

Played By: Carole Bouquet

Dr. Schmidt: He is the head of the experimentation on French civilians and dead German soldiers in the laboratory under Ciel Blanc. Through his research he has yet to find just how the "Tar" works or its origins, but has managed to find a process under which it can be used. He does not balk at the losses, seeing most of those under him as simple subjects or experiments.

Played By: Donald Pleasence

PFC Lyle Tibbet: He is a paratrooper and Sniper from the same unit as Corporal Ford, and one of the first to befriend Boyce. A jokester type of soldier, he is one of the best shots in the unit, and is clearly smitten with Chloe, making sure to protect her when the situation calls for it. He is with Rosenfeld when they distract the experiments and fight them at the final confrontation.

Played By: Bruce Campbell

Private Morton Chase: He is a military photographer and paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division and was tasked to take pictures of his company during the mission so they could be used as propaganda. After the paratrooper's plane was shot out of the sky and only a few of them remained, Ford instructed Chase to fight alongside the unit. He dies and is revived using the serum, only to be killed again when he lost control.

Played By: Richard Jordan

PFC Jacob Rosenfeld: He is a Jewish paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division assigned to destroy the Nazi jamming tower at Ciel Blanc. After his unit's plane was shot down Rosenfeld was immediately captured and taken to Ciel Blanc Church. Dr. Schmidt proceeded to use Rosenfeld as a test subject, injecting him with tar in order to refine it into his serum. Rosenfeld was eventually saved by Boyce.

Played By: Willem Dafoe
PFC Charlie Dawson: A member from Boyce's unit who died early on by stepping on a mine.

Paul: Chloe's younger brother who is taken hostage by Captain Wafner, and protected by Tibbet.

Dominique: Chloe's aunt, who was disfigured by the Nazis to learn what she knew about the folklore of the area.

A.N.: I went with Sam Raimi because this movie seems up his alley. Hell, if possible I would see him perhaps using it as a prequel for the entire "Evil Dead" Saga with the Necronomicon being used in some way. In fact, please let me know your opinion on it, since now that I think on it, it could very well work like that at some point.
