Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

So we either got a tortoise egg or whatever that thing the bugs were eating.
Whatever it is it probably has some strong self regenerative powers considering where the core fragments were from.
That egg is invaluable. Whether it's a tortoise or a drake(?) like the one from earlier.
I didn't mention it before, since the 'bargain with the fragments' add-on was nowhere near winning, but I thought it would be a bad idea to offer up what I was fairly sure was another member of the volcano-tortoise's species. Boxy head, four legs, and a tail sounded like a turtle-like to me. With this fresh update, it's confirmed that 'Kohatu' was a member and probably the mate of the one here, since it's talking about 'at least something of us will leave here' and that the core was compatible. (Though I guess spirits could run on Egg-group rules.)

You won't get any benefits to rolls until the week after you master it, mostly to avoid me having to risk messing up all the bonuses even more by changing them mid week

Ah, so we need EPC this turn if we want to see if it does anything for the Moon Fill mission.

Going to be a pinch, but I think we can do it.

That's an interesting reward for those beast core fragments. Could be quite promising, no? :p

That aside, the reward at the end is pretty darn precious - a month of lessions with an elder? That's both a big boost in progress (potentially) and a chance to be noticed. That said, it's actually probably better for Bai
Meizhen - her higher cultivation means she's probably far more noteworthy, and the chance to get an elder's attention could really help her when she enters the inner sect with the political enemies she has. Instruction in *what* is unspecified... whether it's helping the disciple along their own path or includes teaching in sect arts.

Ling Qi's own harvest is quite promising, though. Some beast cores, Argent Mirror, the mystery egg... and Bai's continued bewilderment over Ling Qi's actions and fortune.

Oh, forgot to ping you with the omake, @yrsillar. And did the stat gains here include those from this week's actions, or just from the event? You don't have the progress labeled as to what it's from, so I'm not sure.

It's overall. I believe I threadmarked your omake already though. I quite liked it. There are a few bits of ill fitting terminology, but that works pretty well as translation weirdness I think.

So, priorities for this turn:
Finish AS5.

Learn Argent Mirror.

Learn EPC.

I believe that we also need to be mid yellow before we are able to use two yellow stones. As for the arm art, we honestly don't know if it is going to be bad for our build. There is a possibility that a spine arm art will allow us to do really cool things with our flute, our with our hands still on the flute. I don't think that it will be that bad honestly. However, I'm still working on the plan, and that's one part of the plan I'm thinking of changing, just because using two actions right now for it seems to be a bit overkill

We don't. We got to use the Yellow stone as soon as we reached Early Yellow. While we will still be restricted to using 4 Spirit Stones, but we can switch one red stone for one yellow stone. So while it's more of a +8 for the extra price of 9 Red Spirit stones, it worth it, since it applies to every single cultivation roll.

Regarding the Arm Art, it simply doesn't pay off. Our Knifes boosted by the Zephyr art have a chance to do more damage then the Stage 2 Elder bat had, and not only does the Elder bat have the equivalent of the Yellow Stage Art, the only thing we can get from the library is the equivalent of the Red Stage Art. So unless you want to put in even more points for the Second Floor Art, it's not worth it (and even then, it's going to take a lot of actions to not only get it to Late Red, but we also need to train it even more then).

Not only is a Arm Art at this moment considered a waste of actions, it's going to be a Action drain for coming weeks if we decide to do that. And I got the impression that the Arts in the library on the first floor are kind underwhelming compared to the Arts noble families.

In regards to the minor actions I want to do something with Li Suyin, a Han Jian action and either thank Guangli or finally do something with Su Ling. Preferably Su Ling. We've spent a lot of time with Xiulan recently and I feel like a bit of time apart would be fine.

Given we've got moonfill next week both the hunting and harvesting training and the info on how to use beast cores would be incredibly valuable to us.

So I'm thinking we should attach the Suyin vote to training with her (easily swapped with Han Jian), do something with Su Ling, Han Jian and finally thank Guangli for saving us.

[] Guangli seems like a reliable sort of boy. It couldn't hurt to thank him, even if its a bit belated
[] Spend some time with Han Jian outside of training, what do they do for fun?
[] Spend some time with Su Ling, perhaps you can learn a little bit of hunting tactics and harvesting from her

I could be persuaded round to doing the beast cores instead of hunting training this week provided we can attach hunting training to the job next week (given the danger involved I'm unsure).

That turtle was restricted by ice and radiated heat, and the egg radiates heat too. Two to one, it's fire aligned, and equally likely it's going to give bonuses to fire arts. I sort of liked the theme of Heaven though when it compared to the rest of our arts. FVM gets us clouds and eventually thunder, ZB gets us winds. Lightning would make the generic horror opening complete. But if we're getting bonuses on fire techniques for the tortoise, it makes fire appealing.

This looks to be as good a spirit as anything our classmates could find, so I suspect the benefits are decent.

Dammit. No, not changing my plans at this point.

How can epic good luck and the best possible thing we could have walked out of that event with make things MORE complicated. I blame you @yrsillar, if the spirit was anything less awesome then a Dragon-Turtle I wouldn't be moved. You just had to give us something that awesome, didn't you?

Yes, Yes, YES!

We might have just gotten a babby dragon!

A xuanwu would be my guess.

Hmmm... I tried to deliberately shift the terminology in some ways, to reflect that other cultures are unlikely to see cultivation, spirits and the like as the Empire does - and some are going to know very little. But yeah, any blunders I made can be easily filed under "mistranslation" or generations of oral transmission of the story without an actual cultivator involved.

Reproduction can get a little weird among higher end spirits, yeah. I mean... Cui's mom is a snake big enough to swallow a bus, and her dad is a five hundred year old assassin's dagger. Shit gets weird.

@Thor's Twin, your plan doesn't get us AS5 as there is not enough combat arts/physical cultivation to get it via Argent Elixir.

Anyway, here is what I am thinking:

Resources: Starlight Elixir, Argent Elixir, 3 red stones, Steady Growth Pill
Major Actions:
[]Starlight Elixir
[] Train with Han Jian and his group
-[] SCC
[] Train at the vent with Suyin and Su Ling
-[] Spiritual
[] Take a job
-[] Specify
[] Visit the Archive
-[] Research the egg. What does it need to hatch?
[] Cultivate Argent Mirror with Bai Meizhen

Paired minor action with hunting job:
[] Spend some time with Su Ling, perhaps you can learn a little bit of hunting tactics and harvesting from her

Minor actions:
[] You are still worried about Suyin, perhaps the two of you could study formations together? It might get her mind off things
[] Spend some time with Han Jian outside of training, what do they do for fun?

@yrsillar,
is that how pairing actions work?

Just put the extra minor in as a subvote on the major action

Bai Meizhen stared silently at her for several long seconds, before pulling her eyes away. "...You're gratitude is noted," she replied with a hint of awkwardness. "I should not have reacted in such a vulgar fashion either, thank you Ling Qi."
We made up with Meizhen and made a beautiful declaration :')

"So… when do I go back?" She finally asked, screwing up her courage to speak again.

"When I feel like it,"
Shiiiit, is this the hidden treasure?

"Hmph, naive. The empire will crush that if it doesn't crush you," the tortoise scoffed. "You'll die forgotten with that kind of attitude."

"Everyone dies, and I'm not sure if I care about being forgotten," Ling Qi responded quietly. "I'd rather not do it for a long time… but I won't let fear chain me down anymore either." She knew what it was like to be on the edge of death, even if she tried not to think about it. She had spent half of her admittedly short life making decisions solely based on survival. She didn't want to do that anymore.
Mystery Egg Acquired
Fuuuuck she's ascended into the form of a true protagonist, scoring allies over waxing philosophical! :D:lol:rofl:

"It would seem that I have acquired one month of personal lessons from Elder Ying."
Ling Qi was glad to see the coldness the girl had been showing earlier had faded, for the moment at least. She followed her friend out of the cave, ready to face a new day.
So that was absurdly awesome. We got the egg of a fifth grade beast, a new art, bonding time with Meizhen and cores for days! Even if the egg takes ages to hatch and comes out as a grade 1 it'll be awesome. Perfect for tanking and I'm guessing it'll have some sort of fire ability which is great even if it doesn't actually match us.

Mmmh. @yrsillar, about stat gains those are both for the event and week 15 right? I am surprised that we got neither manipulation nor expression given we both trained FVM but also heavily used it in the event.

Also, the paired minor is an extra minor action? fuck yes, we can have Gu Xiulan minor action too!

Given the Dragon or whatever it is had bullshit regen and the egg has green in it maybe it was a Wood element Spirit? We already know Wood is a/the healing element after all and given how hot the feels I suspect Mr Tortoise infused it with his Fire element too.

There is no physical cultivation. We only need 4 actions of worth Physical cultivation rolls to get to Middle Silver, which will allow us to take 2 Yellow Spirit stones per a week, which is a great boon to all our cultivations. We can finish it in 2 weeks with the Starlight Exlixir and some luck.
No we need to be Mid-Yellow and Mid-Silver to do that, stone use is capped by your lowest cultivation rating and the vent gives us a YSS automatically.

Stone number is capped by lowest cultivation, but not the ones we actually use. being mid-silver should make us able to use 2red/2yellow.

[] Plan Prep
- [] Resources: 3 red pills, Argent Elixir, Bear Marrow Elixir, Starlight Token, pills
- [] Train with Han Jian and his group
-- [] SCS
- [] Cultivate Argent Mirror with Bai Meizhen
- [] Train at the vent with Suyin and Su Ling
-- [] Spiritual
- [] Cultivate on your own
-- [] Spine Meridian
-- [] EPC

Something like this? I feel like both EPC and Argent Mirror will help tons on the Moonfill mission. It was said that spirits were attracted to the nectar on a moonless night, so there'll be dark spirits which will probably use illusions (illusions and dark seem to naturally go together).

We can also drop spiritual if we want to go to the Archives to see how to hatch the egg.

Minor wise, I'd like to do something with Guangli and Han Jian. 3rd one ... Su Ling maybe? Beast core or hunting, both are good. Suyin wise, I think she shouldn't slow down until she hits Late Gold, which she should do either this week or next.

Re: Cute pokemon?

The spirit beasts handling the tests are presumably not very happy about being nailed down and used for pinatas and batteries.

Helping us get part of themselves free as the FIRST Spirit ally of a demonstrably decent and talented cultivator means their children at least would have a better fate.
Yeah, but the quote was "This is as much for my benefit as yours". They typical expression is "This is as much for your benefit as mine". It seems strange that after seeing that we are intimidated and doing a thing, the spirit beast reassures us that this is for THEIR benefit as well as ours, as opposed to reassuring us that this if OUR benefit as well as theirs. Make sense?

*logs in*

*sees update*

OMFG FIRST POKEMON I COULD CRY, MY EMOTIONS, ALL THE FEELS.

We shall be the best mommy to turtle chan for his parents

Probably trying to convince himself too.

Nope, check Week 14. We had Early Yellow and Late Red, but we could use one Yellow and 2 Red Spirit stones. The maximum number of Spirit stones we can use is determined by our lowest cultivation, however the maksimum number of our Yellow Stones is determined by the highest Stage of cultivation we have. So at early Silver we can use one, at Middle 2 and at Late 3 Yellow Spirit Stones.

@Arkeus Yeah, I like your proposed Major actions better. I was thinking about switching things around anyway, I don't know about the minor actions though. I'll see.

edit: never mind. I like your minor actions :)
