Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

I'm taking the worldbuilding interludes with two large and heavy "gain" of salt.
First unreliable narrator, which is more than obviously apparent.
And the dude is working on many millennia old tails, even Whites don't live anywhere near that long. We're counting in dozens of generations at the very least. Take a look at earth creation myths and see how pretty much every single one of them require some pretty heavy mental gymnastics to try and make somewhat fit with how it really happened.

There are land dragons today, but there isn't any record of them then. And it wouldn't make much sense for a species to colonize the air before colonizing the land-land offers far greater resources for comparatively less energy than the sky.
You're thinking in mass=energy physical terms. Energy in this system is qi, which doesn't depend at all on biomass the way that ATP and other real-life life does. There's no guarantee that the sky has less qi than the land, let alone that there would be less sky-dragon-edible qi.

Additionally, dragons didn't evolve the way that tetrapods IRL evolved, so your colonization supposition has no basis. Dragons are spirit beasts (I think) and spirit beasts are tiny coalescing domains in the shape of an animal. While they have species and probably underwent selection processes as we understand them, it won't be because all life in FoD descends from a single origin and split up, the way IRL life did. If anything, life in FoD has a chaotic and multifarious origin, descending from all the different kinds of Great Spirits' effects on the world. They have different kinds of spirit beasts because there are different kinds of qi and domain that take on different shapes.
At times the language gap still makes me stop and stare and who the heck would name their future Emperor a word that rhymes with Dead and Loss if its not the very same word.
It's probably an imperial or public name he picked himself, rather than being his birth name. So he's a chuuni.

Please stop trying to bring physics into a cultivator story. It won't work out.

I mean, the Sublime Ancestor account is a direct primary source for the Dragon God era. The earlier events are of course another matter, but, at least if we were given the full volume, real historical analysis is quite reasonable to do on the Dragon God era.

That's... really nice.

I especially like how they manage to capture a bit of both "a creature of power and fear" and "a girl young enough that she's still trying to figure out this whole 'being a teenager' thing".

I know, right?

It's what I feel to be the definitive Ling Qi going into the new thread, which is why I hope it gets to be our official character image.

Not everyone is a moon cultivator, you know.

He doesn't have to be a moon cultivator to be associated with the guiding moon the same way we didn't have to be a cultivator to pray to the grinning moon when we were a street rat.

He has cultivation techniques focused on Divination and he's spent his life putting together a history that involves both the birth of the moon and the birth of the bloody moon. He has also gone so far as to drink with a spirit of a founding family. Anyone who does all that and doesn't try to talk to a spirit of the guiding moon would be too dumb to live. He would have some favor even if he never learned 8 phase ceremony.

Guiding Moon: Boon to travelers and sailors; divinatory techniques; revealing mystery.

Talking to a moon spirit =/= "being associated with" the moon in any sort of relevant fashion. The same is true of having divination or secret-uncovering Arts or Way. If you meant that individuals with similar focuses could find it easier to communicate with specific spirits, then sure, but if that was your meaning, it was poorly stated in the post I replied to.

what I said was that his focus would make him related to the guiding moon because they have the same purpose, even if he never spoke to a spirit or cultivated their scripture. I also implied that if a spirit is commonly worshiped in the empire it is likely for a person to pray to them. I then stated that if one is researching history and needs a primary source the moon was one of the earliest spirits out there and it's still around today. It's also mostly friendly to humans
