Forge of Destiny(Xianxia Quest)

I feel that I should give more likes... especially in regards to the conversation with Meizhen. Unfortunately, one like will have to suffice.

Moving on, there is some temptation to just walk up to the fortress and disguise ourselves (refuge in audacity and all that) but I can't but feel that is a terrible idea.

@yrsillar You seem to have forgotten to reroll the 1's for EPC

Anyway:
Her finds were quite disappointing at first. The pouch seemed like it was full of junk. There was a clay jar for of polished and painted anklebones, a torn headband worked with elaborate embroidery and beads, the broken halves of an unusably tiny bow, and other such things. They were all burnt or bloodstained too. Ling Qi couldn't imagine why trash like this would be so well protected. They weren't even broken talismans as far as she could tell. The barbarian had probably been pretty unhinged, she supposed.
A reminder that the empire and our sect are not the good guys and there are damn good reasons the shaman tried to murder everyone

Medicines that affected breakthroughs were rare and extremely expensive and rare, so much so that Elder Su had only briefly mentioned how to recognize them. She had to hide these and keep quiet about it. There was no way she wanted anyone knowing she had these.
I think they might be rare.

Anyway I feel like we should keep at least the roll reduction one until Cyan but I also know that could be years away IRL. Maybe we could have Su Ling study it for ideas of how to make them?

[x] To aim for one of the small but impossibleto remove gaps in guard coverage and sneakin.

[X] To remain outside and slip a scout onto returning disciples, with orders to return in an hour. At least one would make it out, surely?

Yeah, they definitely planned this base out with people like Huang Da and Ling Qi in mind. Best to rely on the cards they don't know we have. Does present an interesting dillemma though, as countering dark arts counters most stealth approaches. I hope we look into other stealth arts, especially wind or water arts, as we get significant bonuses/discounts on such arts, and the elements seem well suited towards stealth.

Fuuuck no to the other two.

Also, the new drugs add even more reason to devote at least a week to nothing but breakthrough attempts.

Please people let's not try to infiltrate the fortress home to multiple people who can kick our ass one on one with a disciplined guard force and a magical effect that renders most of our best stealth and escape techniques ineffective or more expensive.

This is schmuck bait.

Blood of Father Sky: Allows the user to reduce all second, third and fourth breakthrough rolls by five

Milk of Mother Earth: Allows the reroll of a single breakthrough roll, and on failure prevents lost progress. Effective on second, third and fourth breakthroughs

Holy shit. Well, getting our third breakthrough just got a lot easier. These seem to be permanent buffs that only affect these breakthroughs in particular, but I'm not certain, especially for Milk.

Meizhen lowered her head. "I…" her friend trailed off, not looking at her. "I would enjoy showing you the Thousand Lakes, but you would not enjoy being under my family,"

Sad, but confirms what the thread consensus has been. The Bai's are kinda dicks.

"And while I am a member of the main family, I do not have the authority to make such offers on a personal level," Ling Qi caught a flicker of something in her faintly glowing eyes. There was a 'but' there, left unspoken.

I seem to think that it is within Meizen's ability to get Ling Qi to get a vassal offer if she really tried. But she believes that Qi would definitely not enjoy it, it wouldn't be directly under her anyway, and doesn't wish that on her friend.

Does anyone else find it kinda worrying that Ling Qi somehow isn't capable of recognizing what are pretty clearly mementos? Children's toys, jewelry and accessories, that sort of thing?

If this isn't a trap, I don't know what is.

So:
[] Disguise herself and enter through the front door. No need to play with walls and traps

Ling Qi is leery of this one.

[] To aim for one of the small but impossible to remove gaps in guard coverage and sneak in.

Ling Qi herself thinks this is a bad idea.

I'm 100% confident we can slip the scout onto somebody. Seems like it would get detected scrambling away, but at least there's no personal risk to us at that point. Plus even if it's caught there's some value for us if some of their efforts are redirected from anti-darkness tech to vermin control.

I'm not liking any of these. Even if she went in herself, I don't think she'll be able to stay undetected, especially since the sun looks like it would tire her out.

Last option seems like the least bad one, but I guess it really would depend on rolls, because the guards are apparently disciplined enough to shoot down birds.
