Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

"I could tell you." Tetra offered. I have a connection through the Dragon's Pulse."

Now it was far from quiet and the attention it had relieved both locally and on the national stage had definitely changed the tone of the place.

No forever, but probably for long enough to get through the conversation.

"Sorry if that was a bit much." It wasn't really an assessment or anything. I mean, for whatever this is…"

HA! This is great! Awesome chapter!

You always manage character interactions so well! I always enjoy seeing Joe interact with someone that isnt part of the forge or Aisha.

You can tell Joe is happy too by the end.

Wonder how the boosted blood would affect Tetra...

I think this went as well as impossible could, considering how any relationships or even long-term exposure to people would be a bit risky for the main character considering how often and fast he changes.

News of Joe dating Laserdream is not going to help Parian's mental state. She turned him down in a big public blow up and a few months(?) later he's dating a famous cape. Thanks for the chapter!

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I have never not even once been worried for a test in my life and it's definitely not because I'm a genius. I know that when I enter that test hall I've done everything I can and there's nothing else I can do so just what will be will be and I can't do anything about it good or bad. So I personally can't relate but I know you're right. To be clear when studying that's another thing when preparing but when that part's over over and you just gotta lock in then you gotta lock in like why be nervous for something you can't change, I really should import this attitude into the rest of my life to be honest it will be a lot easier
Nah, I get it. It's not exams for me either. It's the freaking application process that causes my anxiety. I can handle the SAT, Two final exams on the same day, the MCAT (SAT for doctors). But for the life of me I cannot fill out an application form in one go without having a slight panic attack and turning off the computer. The interview, fine. The test to join, fine. The essay, I'm just bad at writing but no anxiety. The application, just kill me.

I'll be honest, while I really enjoyed the chapter, what I'm enjoying more is how it seems like the slate is finally cleaning. Before Joe had just as many (if not more) new issues to deal with popping up as he had ones getting resolved and the grind felt (unfortunately) realistically wearing.

Yeah, exams have never really been a…problem so to say, at least not in their entirety. Like, I've been stressed for exams before, but I've gone into them with a care free attitude of "If I do well, I do well, if I don't, I don't. All I care about is passing."

That, however, then leads to the stress of waiting for the results to come back. Which is infinitely more stressful than doing the actual exam, at least for me.

Other than the discussion of stress from exams, Chapter was exceptionally good, IMO. Glad Joe and Crystal are both having good things happen for them. Glad that Joe's come out of his bubble, at least in regards to romance. And him just straight up asking if Crystal wanted to meet up again in the future, really goes to show just how far his character has come, from the dude who was so romance averse that the thought of people making jokes on the Internet about his potential romance with his professors daughter caused him to nearly panic, to what he is now.

Like everyone's said in the past, this story does amazing things for characterization and development and I fucking love it.

Loved the speculation about 'maybe Broadcast was hiding the ineffectiveness against all S-class threats to provide chaff for Jack' as an in-universe explanation for all the Unfortunate aspects of Worm as a setting.

The city is in a careful arrangement of powers, balanced on a knife edge.
Joe goes on a date.
The rest of the group pulls out all the stops to make sure it goes well.

Joe and Crystal walk out of the restaurant into the smoking crater remains of Brockton Bay.

They have mantic cores. Brockton Bay is reduced to a smoldering crater full of corpses in the middle of the date and restored back like nothing ever happened by the end of it

What does the Bloodborne capstone do again?
It enhances any of the 600 CP Bloodborne perks you pick up. The only one in the Celestial Forge is Blood Artisan Plus. This combination lets you express crystalized blood in any shape you imagine (though more complicated shapes take more time/concentration), as well as the ability to reshape any held blood-crystal structures, or to change the properties of the blood-crystal. Make it harder or softer, flexible, or even esoteric abilities like "channels magic into a spell" or "resonates with psychic energy" or something like that.

"Good attitude, I guess." Kim said. There was a slight pause before Crystal broke the silence.

"Hey, don't you and Dwight have that thing?" Crystal asked.

"We've still got assignments for my classes, but they're all electronic submission anyway so it doesn't really change the schedule." Kim continued.

"Right, didn't you have one that you needed to work on?" Crystal asked.

"Not really. I mean…" She paused as she saw the look Crystal was giving her. "Oh, right. That one. We should go."

"Um, right. Definitely." Dwight said, smiling a bit too wide. "Nice to meet you." He said as he rose to leave.
Crystal certainly had opinions about how she wanted to close out her conversation with Joe.

Kim & Dwight: "Oh right, that one thing that we totally had planned, for which we have to leave right now before Crystal keeps staring at us."

Who the fuck are you, and what did you do with the real Joe? I knew that one of the duplicates will try to replace the original eventually.
This is the Spiral Power mindset, he finally did it, we reached endgame!
Considering the shenanigans they did, social skills are beyond them as well. It probably took the entire pantheon's worth of blessing to give Joe a normal human level of it :D
I mean that was the joke. It took the divine blessings of an entire pantheon of gods (plus extra forge buffs) but Joe was able to pull off a "normal" social interaction with enough social buffs that a person who wasn't starting in the negatives for their social stats to have accomplished world domination. Joe actually mentioned in an earlier chapter he figured out how to manipulate the entire worlds media system to convey information effectly, he just can't do it in one on one conversations.
Soo..did he just sneak in some mystical healing effect when he was pointing out the pressure point?
I think the Journey to the West quote implies he "mildly" unlocked her chi, but we will have to see if the WoG for this chapter answers anything for certain.
