I want more of this in the future. Just making cool shit because he can. I Know the clones get up to stuff like this, but I feel like Joe himself needs to unwind. At least the Coffee Date will be something to unwind.
This chapter was an absolute banger. 10/10 would wait a full two weeks again if this is what would happen. the Despair of Rune when she watched our beloved cat war god decimate his opponents and watching the B*tch Purity get her ass handed to her trying to get chummy with sweet Survey and the delusion that Kaiser is falling into with him thinking he can manipulate the CF without them knowing, it was simply glorious. I can't wait till we see the reactions to this, especially from the PRT's POV or straight form PHO (would prefer the PHO one since I get giddy watching the many reactions from people on the CF's badassery).
Purity is so delusional I think it's clinical. I'd almost feel bad except, y'know, Nazi.
Anyways, my first thought was: this whole thing had the horrifying feel of some ancient plebs accidentally stumbling upon the domain of a god and immediately being humbled. Then I realized that's literally true.
Victor had supplied four massive stone platforms, each perfectly matched in a way that eased the burden on her power while also being precisely designed and intricately ornamented. They looked like solid stone, but it was probably some complicated concrete mix that he had pierced together from the skills of a dozen experts. It made a lot more sense to assume he had filled up a few molds than actually carved them himself out of solid basalt. Plus, carving wouldn't have created that weird flakey texture that marred one of the disks. It was probably another aspect of the casting process or some feature of whatever mix of cement was required to make them look like black volcanic stone.
And another instance of blatant author's handwavium for the purpose of making things illogically worse that they should be. While Victor could've copied the skill to draw pretty circles, there is literally no way for him to use Alchemy or Alkahestry because they rely on a unique source of power - The Gate (of Truth) - that reside in the souls of the people of another universe.
PS: IIRC the difference between Alchemy and Alkahestry is that the first was purposefully altered to depend on the pipe network of full of Red Stone under Amestris and/or use the energy of tectonic movement outside of it, while Alkahestry utilized Dragon Veins (aka Ley Lines) as a more natural source. But without The Gate it's impossible to use either.

And yet, the Forge itself seems to be the source of things. Its not like magic or other bullshit exist in the Worm universe either. Yet the Forge just grinds on and makes it exist.
So when Joe got the ability to use Alchemy, anyone with the knowledge later would be able to use it too. Same with magic and other things. I mean, look at Aisha and all the stuff she has been taught already.
And, to be fair, at this point there is literally nothing in Worm that could be a threat if Joe decided to say 'fuck it, lets conquer and save everyone.'
The things like Victor pulling that shit out of his ass actually make it interesting... and him getting fucked over later when he tries to human transmute his dead girlfriend back to life will be satisfying.

Yeah, the Celestial Forge draws all its stuff from Jumpchain. And Perks, Powers and Items gained from the Forge still work all Jumpchain. By Fiat, if x says you can do y, you can do y, no in-setting metaphysics required after you leave a setting.
So this isn't Lord hand waving stuff, it's how the Forge itself works, and he can teach others to use certain abilities etc etc. Again, no special meta-physics required, just the Forge.

Where were you the last couple dozen chapters? People can learn alchemy is not a new thing, don't address it like it something this chapter reveals. If you wanted to criticize it, then you should've when Aisha learned it. Even then you would've been wrong, but at least it would've been appropriate.
To address your severely outdated criticism, people can learn and perform alchemy becouse FMA's jumpdoc say so. It poses alchemy as science that explicitly teachable and understandable outside the world of FMA. Yes, that means that by rules of jumpchain The Gate resides in souls of the people of any universe.
Anyway, about recent chapter, I wonder if Cauldron gave Battery any commands. At this point, I struggle to believe that they satisfied with just Coil's assurances and not scrambling resources to get that chance at silver bullet that Apeiron and his team shaping up to be.
I wonder if Joe will first try going the diplomatic route in Passenger space? Or if he will try the hacking route? Or just blow shit Up?
We know at least some me of the Passengers are sympathetic to humans, ir at least indifferent.
I was also surprised by Kayden. What is this about a reformed Empire? I thought she just came because of the implied threat to Aster and Theo?
One small criticism I have about this chapter: the long winded, redundant descriptions of the factory building...only to have it collapse a few paragraphs later.
And another idiot ball had been handed to showoff DoD. Survey should've disabled her with a well placed neck strike instead of showing the whole world that she tooks her seriously in a battle-maniac sense.
Jumpdock only covers teaching, not "others stealing". That's why Aisha learning it is fine. And it does not mean that "everybody gets a Gate" it would be utterly moronic.

Jumpdock cover learning alchemy, it's not restricted to teaching. There is no indication that only Jumper can teach it or that Gate is granted by Jumper teaching it. It can be interpreted that way if one want's to be restrictive, but that not interpretation Lord went with. And how people having Gate all along is in any way a weird idea? Joe's perks made so people most definitely have souls, Aura potential, psionic potential, Force user potential, spiritual energies, life-force, fortune energies and dozens of other characteristic, but Gate somehow supposed to be unique? Why?
Anyway, another thing about recent chapter - Teeth capes are first criminals that CF handed to the authorities. That probably have some significance, with local government and law forces probably trying extra hard to contain the capes and keep them from breaking out, just to not get CF angry by wasting their effort with the usual incompetence that kept Hookwolf free and running around. Wonder if Butcher would even try to break those cape out, or do they just get written off.

So, for the PRT cluster theory bingo card, the cat displays contact based trump powers like Apeiron did with the Arclance, and fire based abilities from Kat, while Survey displays "blue fire" to go with the fire control Joe used in the final stages of the Lung fight.
Stormtiger has the wind power. Krieg has a minor form of kinetic manipulation. Short-range, generally low power, but he can do things like kick gravel and accelerate it to a shotgun blast, or reduce wind speed so he doesn't even feel it, or deflect bullets such that they orbit around him and shoot back.
So, Kataklysm (and oh.boy does spellcheck want that to be spelt with a Kayak), got.to have fun, which let's face it, was the big thing here. We have been waiting for him to be unleashed and now... Well, he got to show off, but let's face it. He didn't get close to going all out.
Meanwhile, Purity is a stupid nazi milf. Really, it.fits withost Nazi's I've met, the sheer self absorbed ignorance.
That all said, I am hanging out for the big fight to come. Especially if it's Celestial going balls to the wall and showing off.
I am also curious, and shall never find out most likely, does Tybalt like belly rubs?
Oh boy, that was great. It's going to be extra fun when people figure out that merely shielding an entire street, multiplying gravity across a whole block, and casually annihilating a dozen capes in close combat is the Forge… well not holding back per se, but definitely not actually trying very hard at all.
Stormtiger is wind boy; Krieg has kinetic energy manipulation of his own that defaults to slowing things around him, but he can use it to accelerate things he touches more than should be possible. Basically faking a brute power by having an always on version of Skidmark's power.
Speaking of Krieg:
There would be an influx of gang members being brought into custody, absolutely swapping the police and courts. That kind of thing was really bad news for anyone who is currently in custody and hoping to be arraigned before they have to spend the night in jail. And for anyone whose lawyer father was desperately trying to get in contact with an overly friendly judge to expedite her proceedings.
LordRoustabout never said that, and its been mentioned several times that Joe's 'Passenger' is 1: Basically Fanon-based, which is why it has such an overwhelming love for 'queen of escalation' Taylor, despite that simply not being something this version of Taylor is ever likely to become.
2: Cannot see the results of two perks interacting, which is one of the things the story is built off of.
The Taylor subplot is and always has been a mess of miscommunications where both sides think Taylor has more importance than she actually does.
Prediction: Every leader of a parahuman organization in Brockton Bay will, at some point in the next 12 hours, wonder at the potential feasibility of pointing a laser pointer at their enemies.
"Rune looked at the flowing mass of debris. Largest on record probably meant he hadn't been caught in any collapsing buildings before. Their opening attacks had basically given him the perfect set of circumstances to use her power. A consequence of them flying in blind and now they had half a factory worth of rubble providing cover for the fleeing Empire capes."
Quite sure that should be "teeth" capes.
Also goddamn that's quite an escalation from gang violence to shard space lol.
Also Purity, you goddamn delusional Nazi bitch I friggin' swear.
You did a good job capturing her character.
Honestly, on one hand, I did feel bad for her since no parent should have to bury their kid.
But at the same time can't help but call it karma for her being a Nazi.. like holy shit...
I have read stories where they try to redeem her but usually it's cuz the author is horny for that nazi-milf-pussy (naz-ussy?) lol
Either way, this was a fun chapter, and I really like how you've improved on your fight scenes. Especially compared to earlier fight scenes like Aperion vs Leet, Uber & Bakuda.
Really great job, the scene was almost perfectly in the moment and almost nothing was detracting from the action. The reader is funny and invested in the action and there's no interruption from random forge shit happening that ruins the flow. OFC this was from Rune's perspective, but you can definitely make out the improvement in writing.
I'm sure it'll translate over to future Aperion fight scenes and I'm so excited for those to eventually show up.
Good pacing, good action, good characterization and dialogue. I think this chapter really shows off how far Apeiron's come as a character (in regards to his confidence as a cape and a hero) and how far you've come as a writer. Can't wait for more man, thanks for the update! As always, the biggest downside of these chapters is that I now have to wait for the next one! haha
DATA! He seduces all shards after the next PJO capstone perk because of his massive stores of DATA.
Yes, but I feel that with Joe's family environment, he would hold a bit of sympathy for her. Maybe since his moral Taboo has already been shattered, he could try out some denazification technology.
To be fair, Damsel IS insane and completely cuckoo. The thing is that the people around her are a bunch of neo-Nazis so she comes off as almost sane in comparison hahahah. Imagine living in the 21st century and being an actual Nazi lol. Sadly there are people like that in real life so this comparison is particularly relevant.
That said, for all my hate of nazis and their moronic ideology, I do feel for Rune. She had no real choice as she was brought up in that culture. She's still a kid, basically, and deserves a chance to get out of there. Especially since she clearly doesn't believe in any of that bullshit. It's a grim reminder that for all that she's an Empire cape, she's a victim of her circumstances as well.

The central conceit of the story is the CF, fiat-backed integration. I believe it's a result of the slightest hint of Joe's teaching power. Also the CF has a sense of humour and is probably laughing at this and eating popcorn with Truth.
I keep seeing Damsel's outfit in my head as a copy of Esdeath's from Akame ga Kill. Especially with the hat and everything.

Poor Poor Victor, I hope he gains some sanity. Like if you begged Joe, he could probably rig up a perfect Shard-based True Ressurection in about a minute with the new Hades skill PJO in the Capstones.

Exactly, the central plot device of the story is literally explained in the first chapter. Skimming is bad, I know that a 2M story can be intimidating but pacing is also so.
The one time we get a month delayed update it's going to be 100k. So disappointed this time, if only a full preamble chapter addendum set it could have broken the 50k single post barrier.
For the other entities, Apolloyon will be eaten by Tybalt and Abaddon sounds chill, total Joe soul animal. Zion and Eden is kind of like Kazuma and Aqua if you think of it. For the other entities, once Joe's workshop gets big enough he could keep them instead of fish, I hear 9th dimensional spiral quadratic fractals are good for the soul. Also to see Contessa's face.
