Brockton's Celestial Forge (Worm/Jumpchain)

Which also paints the Brockton Bay Protectorate in an interesting light, Kid Win in this situation looks like a last second Trump card that Piggot will use to save her career. Why wasn't that nutured or reported I wonder? HMM?

Chekhov's gun is firing from Armsmaster's interlude

"Tell me, have you ever seen an 'excellent' from the man." Colin asked in good humor.

"Ah, the near mythical 'excellent work'." She said. It truly was. That kind of compliment was reserved only for groundbreaking projects or examples of work that truly set a tinker apart from their peers. "In truth, I did receive it once, regarding my mobile shield deployment suit."

The gun in question in case anyone wants it.

I like this chappie lord, really fleshes out everyones characters and builds the setting in a beautiful direction. And I think Our favorite Cat is about to take a Very Enthusiastic walk by the roadside

Just realized.

This Story is approaching 4 years of age.
It is 1700 pages long.
We are 147 Threadmarks in.
Over 2 Million words long.
The average length of each chapter is between 8k-40k words long.
It's still less than 3 monthsWeeks into the timeline.
We have gone through 2 Presidents, a plague, me personally have dealt with 3 ex girlfriends and 2 different jobs since this story started.
(Only one Pres. Misremembering dates.)

And for some reason, I am getting especially hyped for what Chapter 100 will bring.

How Iconic would everyone rate this story among Worm fandom at this point?

People might come up with all sorts of ideas, but the truth was just that nobody realized his potential. He doesn't even know what his specialization is. He thinks he's a garbage tinker.

It's hilarious how Clockblocker is seen as such a serious and experienced figure by outsiders to the Brockton Bay community. I know that his reputation has been rising since the locker fight, but damn, the fact that Gully made a big deal of a "serious and dedicated Hero like Clockblocker being willing to reach out to Apeiron" says a lot to how his image has shifted.

If only they knew that while competent, Dennis has only been reluctantly leading since no one else is there to lead.

This chapter shows a bit of perspective from the side of heroes and what is going on. It's clear they are not united and that most heroes are not okay with the BS that came from the local organizations. But not much plot advancement.

Actually three weeks my friend.
Story starts on Friday April 8th 2011 as Joe is riding the bus home from his dead end retail job, current timeline is Weds Afternoon, April 27th 2011

Lords post of chapter one was on May 1st, 2020

Has BCF passed Taylor Varga as the longest Worm fanfiction? Hard to say, there is no consistent posting of all chapters of both stories on any one site so we can't do an apple to apples comparison of word count. All the perks posted at the end of each chapter pad BCF's word count anyway, would need to do a manual comparison to figure this out.
I will say it is getting close.

BCF, a story started as a COVID lockdown writing exercise, is an experiment that has gone horribly right.

It would make more sense for it to be "can't" here.

Let's be honest, Garment has definitely seen more impressive dresses. Those dresses just aren't for mortal eyes. They might not be able to look away.

Or maybe dresses with colors that can never leave the viewer's mind. I bet she's still slightly salty she wasn't allowed to use the Neathbow colors from the lab for her dresses. Just a tiny bit salty ;)

A Gully interlude with a bonus Crystal appearance is exactly what I wanted from this interlude. She's such a well-developed character in this story. I'm hoping that she ends up being the first Case 53 that Apeiron fixes. It would be fitting, I think.

It's ironic that Gully is so dedicated to finding Apeiron, but also at the same time already found him. She just didn't put together that Adamant King Kong would have a civilian identity, and if she did realize she certainly wouldn't finger Crystal's nice boyfriend as the one.

Gully - how many 6'5" Brockton Bay native Caucasian men in their early 20s do you think there are?

Tbf you don't associate a cute boy she met with the Greek godlike figures that is Apeiron.
Just proves that Joe is as good at unconsciously Clark Kenting as he is with everything else.
To be fair, there are both conscious and unconscious differences in between Joe and Apeiron. The conscious is obvious - Joe is literally using illusions, potions, shapeshifting, and even the assistance of the Mist to hide some truly ridiculous features, a list of which is such a pain to list that I wouldn't even bother. Just know that if Joe didn't hide his actual appearance, people from the next city over would notice.

And there's the unconscious difference. It's actually there in Apeiron too, and baffles those that see the Joe in Apeiron all the time like it did for the Undersiders, Uppercrust, and more recently Dauntless, but there is an easygoing and chill attitude to Joe that isn't just his Doormat tendencies. Considering the public has mostly only seen the more mercenary and warlike figure of his Apeiron persona, nobody would ever think that Apeiron is the kind of regular Joe that would help out somebody feeling awkward just to be nice or have romantic troubles over a messy not-girlfriend. But when it does show up as Apeiron, it's so seamless that people are shocked when he then turns to do something ridiculous and they are reminded that yes, this is the Titanium Ape we are talking to.

As a reminder, this is basically how it went:
Joe: jokes around, eats pizza with them, grumbles about their timetable
Undersiders: Can only stare in bafflement as he then turns up with more tech than the entirety of the Toybox and power armor that had been just a joke.

Joe: talks about music choices and complains about PRT interference
Weld: Bewildered as this man he has never heard of casually designs seating and heals him under the sea.

Joe: casually chatting with Uppercrust about villains overcomplicating chess and alcohol choices
Uppercrust: Shocked as Apeiron casually throws in major superpowers into Thurin Ist as "quality of life" add-ons.

And then there's Dauntless. Poor Dauntless who got the full Mystic Cryptic Sage thing immediately after Joe had sympathized with him over similarly unique power problems and the difficulties of having to hold back now for the future. There's a reason why Uppercrust described knowing Apeiron in person and being his friend to be just as tenuous as being his enemy, because Apeiron can switch so quickly from being a normal Joe and SUPER TINKER GOD without any warning.

Guys, you are overthinking it. There is a "Contact apeiron" field in his Website... Why not try that first?
Yeah, but put yourself in their shoes. As Gully/Clockblocker, you can and probably will have already sent a message as soon as the field came online, but given how many messages Apeiron surely has to go through and no guarantee that he would come across yours, surely you'd still look for ways to meet him or someone he knows in person right?

We know that Joe and Survey have already gone through the entire message list, but they don't know that. They don't know that Apeiron is willing to help, and the only reason he hasn't is because his hands are tied with dealing other things in Brockton Bay at the moment. If Gully ever meets Gregor the Snail, he'll be more than willing to share it to her, but she hasn't met him yet since the previous night where Fleet passed on Apeiron's request to Gregor.

C'mon Gully, you're so close! We're all rooting for you to finally get some help, especially now that romance could be on the table. Also enjoyed the teasing of Crystal in this latest chapter too.

I spotted some mistakes.

Gully said, watching the stage as Gully and her models took a polite bow before retreating backstage.
Gully was forced to agree. Granted, the gown was possibly the most impressive dress Garment had ever seen. No it definitely was the most impressive dress she had ever seen, in real life or media.
You confused character names here.

"And not just because of your expert use od feminine wiles earlier."

Crystal flushed again, but there was a slight smile on her face. Really, the schedule had been helpful, but mostly for the first half or the event.

"Um, he did?" Kid Win said. "It was about my damage analysis of the PHO's systems.
Did he work on PHO's systems at some point? It sounds like it's meant to be referring to the Rig/ENE Headquarters, based on context.
