A minor background character from Worm gets access to a compounding series of Jumpchain crafting powers and is left to figure things out with nothing but the nature of his abilities and a vague connection to his passenger for guidance.
Stop: propagate your way on outta here with this nonsense
propagate your way on outta here with this nonsense
I self identify as a Biologically Derived, Carbon Structure Based, Self-Propagating Neural Network.

I would first like to thank all of you here who explained why the "attack helicopter" style of 'joke' is offensive, and to extend my appreciation to users like @Dragna who—upon learning the truth about the 'joke' for the first time—chose to recognise that and change their behaviour to avoid propagating that offense.

Because it is true that comments in the vein of "I identify as an attack helicopter" are—regardless of intent—attacks on the trans community and others who do not fit within traditional gender binaries. The original is intended to evoke ridicule and derision: the idea that just needing to say you identify as some other gender (or no gender at all) is as absurd as saying you are a literally a helicopter, that even acknowledging the existence of anything outside the gender binary is farcical on its face. It is base mockery of the idea that someone who is trans can actually exist and is definitionally transphobic, and it extends these properties by association to all the other 'jokes' that derive from it.

It is for that reason that I have infracted @readerdreamer for 25 points under Rule 2: Don't Be Hateful and threadbanned him for three days: an attack helicopter-style 'joke' is transphobia, and transphobia is against the rules of Sufficient Velocity.

That will be all. Carry on.

Stop: Do not do this.
do not do this.
the thing is in my home state there is a case of a 22 year old who committed suicide because they did identify as an attack helicopter but people online attacked them for it in there suicide note they went on about the abuse they received I only found out about it because of a coworker
Isn't being able to identify as only politically correct genders what this whole thing started to begin with? Kinda reminded me of the cyberpunk 2077 people being completely offended because they thinks it's making fun of trans people when mostly it's just a horrible world that uses sex to sell you stuff regardless of how tacky.
Usually the moderating team would like to just do what we have to do and keep going on with our day, but when posts like these pop up after we take action in a thread we have no choice but to respond to them.

So let's be clear for everyone that hasn't read the rules here. These posts are in violation of rule 5: Don't Make it Harder For Us to do Our Jobs, which includes a subsection which states as such:
Don't argue with the staff about the rules, or a staff decision, in a thread;

Among other things. Which means that once a line of topic has been declared as a no go zone, it's generally a good idea to not broach that line of topic in the thread. If you have questions regarding the decision go through the proper channels, which is generally either through a PM or through the Staff Communication sub-forum.

Do not question moderator actions in thread. There's no need for it, and it only serves to clog up the thread with unneeded drama.

Warning: Remember to try and keep the discussion about the story, not each other
remember to try and keep the discussion about the story, not each other Sorry to interrupt everyone.
They are annoying, contribute nothing and are the equivalent of babby wailing.
So, real talk. Go away troll.
@Image, @Pai please keep in mind that comments like these are simply not productive additions to the discussion.

Image, on SV we have Rule 4: Don't be Disruptive. Among other things it asks users to respect the arguments, the nature of the discussion, and other posters. If you have frustrations with a certain line of mistaken criticism, please keep that in mind before describing those comments as 'babby wailing'. Such provocations are very likely to start a derail at the very least, as they've started to here.

Pai, I probably don't need to tell you that telling someone 'Go Away Troll' is in conflict with Rule 3: Be Civil. Frustration is not a license to put this rule aside. If you have issues with generalizations being made about other posters who are offering constructive criticisms, you can ask us to take a look!

For the moment, while these comments are concerning, they haven't risen to the level that would require further intervention.

How about we don't.
how about we don't.

Puffin has a trans fantasy, is determined to ignore all evidence to the contrary, and is doing the '90% give the other 10% a bad name' thing that activists are prone to.

so @McPuffin Muffin is living in his/her own world then is what i am getting from your post my opinion on him/her is lowered

that explains the 40-year-old picture of Joe when he isn't that old or fat and his/her picture of Aisha being white and older than she really is when MULTIPLE concrete sources(WOG, Wiki, In story descriptions of both BCF and OG worm) say that she is currently 13 and black

that's what most activists do some of them are Karens but on the internet, while some have good points some are just idiots who don't do something called RESEARCH

i wouldn't be surprised if this post attracts a mod or he/she starts make a post full of insults

The fact Sufficient Velocity is a place when someone can feel comfortable enough to share their trans-headcanon is something we're proud of, and we want to keep it that way. It should go without saying, given that we're on a creative writing forum, that people are allowed to have divergent fantasies, regardless of how grounded in reality they might or might not be, and I'd argue the world would be a much more boring place if they weren't!

To that end, the way in which these users responded to @McPuffin Muffin is not something we're willing to tolerate - dismissive, hostile, and bordering on transphobic, whether intentional or not.

Additionally:

he should've just killed all of cauldron and hanged them by their entrails
it eases my conscience that cauldron was nuked but he still should've hanged them by their entrails

Advocating for a group of people, fictional or otherwise, to be strung out by their entrails has no place on Sufficient Velocity. Posting about wishing torture upon others on the internet does not make you look cool or clever, and if the future you find yourself doing so again, I'd recommend you just... don't.

@randomcringyjoke has been issued 50 points and a week-long threadban for a combined violation of Rule 2: Advocation of Violence and Rule 3: Be Civil, whilst @Albert has been issued 25 points and a week's threadban under Rule 3.

That'll be all, folks.

Stop: do not do this.
do not do this.
Being trap, or gay, or black, or any other minority doesn't make a mass murderer any less mass murderer. I don't care about the gender of terrorists who commit atrocities like 9/11 in our world. Be it male, female, trap or anything else, I can't care less about it.
Please, refrain from saying that having certain gender or gender identity should give one a different approach.
Both the use of slurs in this post and the implication that respecting someone's gender identity is contingent on good behavior on their part violates Rule 2: Don't Be Hateful. The word "trap" in this context is a slur and has not been acceptable on Sufficient Velocity for years, and rhetoric regarding respect for someone's gender identity being contingent on them not doing bad things is also not acceptable. Yes, even if that person is fictional, and yes, even if that person is a mass murderer, the idea being put forward is harmful and not something we tolerate on Sufficient Velocity. As such, @Koraan has been infracted for 25 points and received the standard three day threadban.

Everyone else, carry on.

Stop: This is not civil.
this is not civil.
You obviously a troll and should be banned. I am just ignoring you from this point on, I have better things to do than try to break through a brick wall.

@ExploerTM has been issued 25 points and been threadbanned for three days under Rule 3 - Be Civil.

If you wish to use the ignore feature, hit the button and move on. Do not parade it around to actively try to discourage participation, or call other users 'trolls'.

edit: clarification

Due to time served on previous action via another moderator for the same incident, the threadban has been removed. The points, however, stand - in total, a standard infraction (3 days/25 points).
