That is mischaracterizing Popper. What Popper said is that science can't absolutely verify beyond a shadow of a doubt; it can only falsify. Which is, uh, simply true. Take special relativity for example. It accounts for all phenomena we have observed in its context. Yet it is possible that tomorrow we will observe something that can't be accounted for by special relativity, and the truth is actually a model that accounts for all so far observed phenomena and the new one. Very unlikely of course, but hence "beyond the shadow of a doubt". Theoretically-ideally, science can only falsify.
 
Edit: The problem with Popper is that his method doesn't allow for any paradigm to be created in the time between scientifical revolutions. He tries to do away with the need of having to believe on a system to work with, something that's not really possible since science requires a degree of trusting on your postulates.

What was that about people waiting until page 700? How long ago was that? I know people occasionally rail against the weirdness of this thread, but it's a wondrous sort of weirdness... And I'm terribly amused that we now have input from "Problem Children are Coming from Another World, aren't they?" aka "Mondaiji". Given the nature of this fic (and all other AUs) it seems perfectly in character for us.

There is nothing wrong with having theories, even well established theories, and basically treating them as temporary assumptions. After all, that kinda is the nature of science, as opposed to dogma (like religion): It's always checking and re-checking itself, at least ideally.

I found it pretty funny that everyone talks about Kensuke being a gentleman when in canon he took pictures of Asuka without her knowledge (even when changing clothes), selling them for money at school and making a huge business out of it, if Kyoko and Sayaka ever found out about they would probably (he could maybe do that to them the would think) dump him faster then a sack of potatoes and if Asuka ever finds out about it well he will be volunteer for Arael then face her wrath. funny enough in most fan fics I read she finds out she usually demands a cut of the profits, about 70%.:rofl:
