Talking about the sequence of scenes starting with 'washing Asuka's back', I though they were very nicely done. Went from point A to point S a bit too rapidly, although since they--Asuka, that is--had been unconsciously working up to accepting him, plus that fact that this is fiction, makes that not so much of a problem. Many of the readers would complain about going too slow if you had paced it out.

I did find the schnellschnellschnellschnellschnellschnellschnell bits overdone. ;)
ACoS!Asuka has been holding in a desire to take Shinji and throw him on the bed for years at this point, so it's partly accumulated desire breaking loose. A bursting dam accelerates from zero to whoa-baby pretty fast.

Sorry if the... schnell parts (?) were too much? I'm glad it works overall, since I was very much aiming for erotica more than porn.
I have to wonder how willing Asuka and Shinji would be to take liberties with Rei when her ability to give consent is, in the words of Toby Ziegler, "murky at best."
In the scrapped scene, Rei made it quite clear that she was more than clear-headed enough for making such a decision, and the detox was mostly just messing with her inhibition not to make a move on them. And she was very much the active initiator. Asuka tried to resist. For a little bit.
Damn you, Quad, now I have a scene running in my head where Asuka confesses to Misato that she and Shinji 'accidentally' slept with Rei.
Rei: "'Accident' nothing! I was hunting."

Busy day, but I hope to get something done on A&T for this Friday. But two write-ins and a end-of-campaign RPG epilogue fic may get in the way first.

It is a tribute to the power of the internet that an asexual Uncanny Valley girl is so easily turned into a rampant (if loyal and loving) nymphomaniac.
And that's not counting other reimaginings of Rei. Like Nobody Dies.

It doesn't need the magic of the internet; mimeographed fanzines distributed via snail mail and/or at cons would have sufficed to do the job. "Chemically suppressed character comes off their meds and discovers boys/girls/people" is a fairly obvious thing to do in fanworks based on a work which prominently features a character who is, or who plausibly might be, chemically suppressed.

It's perfectly reasonable to believe that canon Rei is chemically suppressed. My understanding is that people have even taken the trouble to freeze-frame the shots of the medication bottles in her apartment and noticed things that would support such a conclusion.

[...] Out of antidotes. Chain-drinking ahoy.
Gotta make a beer run, soon I'll be as good as new.

Reading all this shit sob - hungover is worse than I could've possibly imagined.

At least I remember what I was doing last night. Shame.

Are you trying to be final-year-of-college me? Minus the puking of fried chicken and milkshake into your friend's bathtub part...

That which doesn't kill me... you get the idea.
My genetical composition also helps - my ancestors were imbibing copious amounts of ethanol. I'm pretty much able to ingest not only limitless amounts of ethyl alcohol, but also isopropanol.
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.

Can we get back on topic, please?

So, any bets on Kaworu's future as a corporeal entity?

Instead of a heartwrenching scene where Shinji is forced to kill his sole confidant to save humanity, Asuka and Rei cheerfully bump him off in the night to remove any competition for Shinji's affections. Gendo and SEELE are a bit confused as to what this means for the Scenario.

This omake needs to exist.

Since Shinji wasn't so utterly lonely when he met Kaworu and Asuka has claimed him as hers as unambiguously as possible, I don't think Kaworu could ever be any competition at this point.

Asuka storms onto the school's grounds, Shinji hanging from her hand in tow. She stops in the middle of the yard and yells, "Shinji's mine, bitches, so stay away from him!!" then proceeds into the building at a much more leisurely pace, Shinji's hand still in hers.

However you look at it, this Shinji and Asuka ARE married.
Only because they didn't get chance to do that yet.
I stand corrected. A bit of faulty memory had me pegging them as very devoted in the now, but a bit more uncertain about the forever. Investigation have showed me the error of my ways. The only thing currently preventing forever, seems to be that they each are a bit uncertain wether the other would have them. They themselves would definetely be up for it.

Oh, the places he'll go... :V
On the danger of talking myself black in the face, I'll reiterate that what you refer to as marriage is only a governmentally chartered document.

However you look at it, this Shinji and Asuka ARE married.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:

O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love 's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error, and upon me prov'd,
I never writ, nor no man ever lov'd.
As to Shinji and Asuka... they're about as closely bound as they can be. Being 15 and two-weeks-short-of-15 makes getting an officially recognized government document on any such bond difficult, though the 'NERV says so' card might work to wring such out of the Japanese government... though that would require the imprimatur of the Commander of NERV, obtaining which would be... interesting.

However! Despite this, both have still lingering fears that they aren't worth this kind of love. And even for couples that don't have that kind of emotional scarring/crippling lack of ego & self-confidence in their past, contemplating taking that next big step of 'making it official' is scary. So while both have quietly, silently thought about the future, and even discussed it a little, neither of them has had anything like the courage to broach the topic to the other. Though Asuka has considered how even thinking about it so soon is rather wild:
Asuka said:
'...now you've found that One, the One who makes your world right, and he's not next to you tonight, where he should be. You know why you can't sleep. You want him with you, every day and every night. A night without him makes you think about what it's like to be alone again, and worry that one day he might not be there again.'

She sighed, and crumpled her pillow into a new position. That worry had been gnawing at her ever since Shinji had asked where they were going. Did they have a future together? What did she want from all this?

'The problem is you know what the answer to that question is, Soryu. You want his life, all of it. You want him next to you 'until the end of the world', just like you've both promised. But you're damn well aware that you're both barely teenagers, and that thinking about what he'll look like when he's older, rings, and kids is fucking crazy at this point. And you're doubly scared that he'll freak out if he learns that you're thinking about it anyway.'

"And none of that stops me from wanting it. A life, a family, year after year of love... Gott, I'm crazy. And nothing stops me from constantly being afraid that one day he'll decide he can do better than me, and sleeping alone feels too much like a preview."
So yes, they've thought about the future a bit... but shied away from anything concrete. Though Asuka did sort of imply 'their whole lives':
They both said:
"I know," she replied. "But I'm happy now, and I don't want anything to change that. I just want to stay like this forever."

A bolt of lightning shot through Shinji. 'Forever. Forever?' He swallowed. There was a question that had been looming in his mind for weeks now, that he'd likewise avoided really facing because he was content to just enjoy the first honest period of happiness he'd had since before he could remember. But like the prospect of them being eventually discovered, it was an inevitable question that had to be asked. "Asuka… where are we going?"

"What?"

"……us. Where are we going? You just said 'forever'. I… I want to stay like this too. I can barely imagine living without you anymore. I think… you feel the same. But I can't even change the will they made us fill out to name you as my beneficiary without everyone asking 'why?'. What are we going to do?"

Asuka's grip on him got tighter. "Don't… You're not allowed to die, baka. Not ever." She lapsed into silence for a minute. "I don't know where we're going. We're teenagers. We're soldiers. It could all end next week. As long as we're together, I don't care. And you already promised me that first morning: 'Together, forever and always'. Until the end of the world, you and me. We stay together until we don't make each other happy any more. And if that means until we're both dead, then that's that."
So while they may be still afraid to say it, Shinji's promised "As long as you'll have me, I promise: Together, forever and always," and Asuka's promised "Until the end of the world, you and me, against the Angels and anything else that tries to hurt us."

Just try separating them. Rei will have a word with you.

Disregarding outside influence (they'd better never turn their backs on Gendo), their insecurities are really the only thing that could conceivably be an obstacle in their relationship.

Too bad overcoming them fully will most likely be a tall order.

That's not how evolution works. Lamarck was WRONG.

Terminal Dogma?
All over the walls?
GNR's pelvis?
The Moon?
Into hiding?

How have you not encountered the "erotica vs. porn" argument?

(And then there's the wonderful irregular verb:
  • I take a refined interest in erotica.
  • You use porn.
  • He/she/it is committing offences under section NN of the Obscene Publications Act.)
