Might make for a neat plot twist. Like the consequences Loki and Bartleby mentioned in Dogma, only with a good outcome.
It took me a while to remember that plot point. When I asked that question, I was thinking about a manga I read years ago. Here is a paraphrased quote of it.

"The scrolls are glowing and feel hot. Is that a sign that some one has a real chance of defying the prophecy"?

Nah. I figure they're really just the "never do this" section of a technical manual, with a universal translator attached.
Kaworu: "Think of them as the operating instructions for something not unlike a Culture General Systems Vessel..."
Shinji: "A what?"
Kensuke: "I'll explain later."
Kaworu: "... that has been translated into Ancient Sumerian by someone who didn't understand any of the technical jargon, then got translated into Classical Greek by someone who didn't understand Sumerian as well as they thought they did, and then fell into the hands of a doomsday cult."
Gendo: "Many, many things suddenly make sense now."

Sounds not unlike how I, as a Christian, try to explain to my fellows why taking the Bible literally is an incredibly bad idea.

Doing paperwork leads to using papers, and usually pens (if not printer ink), and in any of those steps things can break, and in an organisation, fixing them requires more paperwork, so I'm imagining Hal fixing the light bulb.

Heh.

Reminds me—as with a number of my own fics, the one I'm planning that's an EVA/Get Smart crossover has a 'dub cast' made up of comedians, sitcom alumnus, and VAs from many comedic anime. Which leads me to a bit of a puzzler maybe one of you could settle…

Bryan Cranston or Ty Burrell as Gendo?

Since it is December 4, this question occurred to me. What sort of stunt would the pilots pull on Asuka's birthday?

For what you're aiming for, I'd say Ty Burrell. Evoking Bryan Cranston conjures images of Walter White more than Dr. Tim Whatley or Hal - and suddenly the idea of Bryan Cranston performing as Gendo becomes compelling - if played straight. But for what you're looking for: it'd have to be Ty Burrell.

I have a question in regards to Advice and trust. How likely do you think that Gendo's or Seele's fate would be similar to Charles Zi Britannia from Code Geass?
Since I've seen exactly 1 episode of CG, probably not!

Would exposing and eliminating Seele create a power vacuum that many would try to fill?
Quite certainly, though it might take place behind the scenes. Not a lot of world powers would want to cop to their government being controlled by an apocalypse cult that nearly won.

Do you think the Dead sea scrolls would busrt into flames is there supposed prophecy is proven wrong?
Nah. I figure they're really just the "never do this" section of a technical manual, with a universal translator attached.
This. There's nothing mystical about them. Just a badly understood alien manual for How Not To Use The Progenitor Module.

Give me a few hours, I'll try to write something! :)
