Given that Elfen Lied opens up with (IIRC)

a naked teenage girl in a concealed helmet gibbing and eviscerating a bunch of mooks in very GRAPHIC detail,

that's a definite understatement. :/

/and it only gets worse from there
I don't blame ya, Jimmy. That's always been a series whose Gorn level has made me reluctant to take a chance on it.
Yeah, somehow I doubt Maya would be joining those sessions.

I kinda wanna see the gang reacting to, say, the Charlie the Unicorn videos, or the Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared series.

Asuka: "Okay, so now they're being creati-wwwwhat the hell.

(a few videos in)
ShinjI: "Asuka? Nevermind what the title says; please hug me, I'm scared.

In regardss to Elfen Lied - given its reputation, I'm not sure if I'd even want to watch it... :/
that's a definite understatement. :/

Elfen Lied despite it's problems is a very interesting show in because of the major overriding theme of Elfen Lied of the age old argument of nature vs nurture... are we born evil or are we made evil? two characters of the show makes us ask this question Lucy

and Nana

Two characters that share a similar past but who are very different from one another when they should be the same.

Kaworu would probably find this very interesting (and close to home for him)

I don't think anyone's denying that it's interesting, I just think we're harping on the fact that the Chronicles crew would react very negatively to the overall chain of events, the tone, the gratuitous fanservice, the gorn...you get the picture.

TVTropes describes the show/Manga fairly well:

Elfen Lied (pronounced Elfen Leet, not Elfen "Lied"), written by Lynn Okamoto, is a gornographic manga, which has been likened to a combination of X-Men, Carrie, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Friday the 13th, Love Hina, and Monster. In other words, it's a twisted mixture of mutant battles, Psychic Powers, split personalities, pseudo-harem antics, cute girls, the male lead who discovers that the person whom he interacted during that person's childhood is evil, and of course, bucketloads of Gorn - and it's more than happy to swing between comedy and horror at the drop of a hat. It has also been compared to I Dream of Jeannie as done by David Lynch and Wes Craven.

Not really, unless Second Impact brought religion back big time.

I've already characterised post-2I Germany as having a bit of a conservative streak (not that conservative!), so it should still fit :V

Because then I'm really curious how you're going to stretch it out... 😅

I was flip flopping between it being a short and a long form, due to the length.
Seems i should've put it in the shorts whoops :V
Thanks once again for the translations btw :)

Speaking of how is that on the list given...well half of what happens in it. Heck, something H related wouldn't be as bad. And i am not exaggerating there.

Do you have some suggestions, perhaps? :V

Can't say I've seen Elfen Lied, but gorn is practically the pilot's bread and butter, piloting Evangelion and that.

Or maybe that's just Asuka :V
Though Elfen Lied does sound like a fun work to cover.
In the exact opposite sense :V

Besides gorn you also have

gratuitous rape AND Rape as Drama, a nefarious Director of a NERV-esque group that makes canon Gendo look like a Sunday School teacher, and small children cruelly killing a main character's puppy.

/and no, that last one's not a joke

This is exactly why I didn't vote for Rebellion, even though I really want them to watch it.

I want to give them a little break.
The reason i voted ofr Rebellion is cause i only know of it, Lied, Beats, and FLCL. You all know my thoughts on Lied, FLCL doesn't interest me anymore and i want to see more KSK. I mean when was the last time they were featured in anything, let alone MC status. I can't recall even seeing them in the Chronicles after the original Madoka one(though i can't speak for the latest entries as i didn't read them(the story used wasn't in my interest)).
Do you have some suggestions, perhaps? :V
Not actual H, and not just cause i don't want to get kicked out of Velocity. The only one that may be against the rules is Wandering Pilot(that fic i brought up vaguely before) and the only reason i feel safe in even mentioning it is simply cause while it may get close to the line, Elfen Lied jumps over it with room to spare, at the least. And if the Ban Hammer hasn't been dropped yet for it then it won't for Wandering.

What he said BG_Character_592 and that doesn't cover everything(poor Maya )

Wish we could do approval voting for this one, tbh. There's a fair few that I'd like to pick from that list; Rebellion is just barely my favorite of them.

o_O

Well then.

I can't recall even seeing them in the Chronicles after the original Madoka one(though i can't speak for the latest entries as i didn't read them(the story used wasn't in my interest)).

They were involved in the first Pacific Rim and the entirety of Gurren Lagaan, they were also the people that found T2T and pulled an all nighter to read through it.

And of course, you have Kensuke now working for NERV, so he can get a bit more involved in the Chronicles.
Of course, they have admittedly taken a bit of a backseat during Project G, which due to the extreme length of it would exacerbate their non-presence. Though it's not like I don't include them in it.

This poll was the result of approval voting :V

I wouldn't worry too much about traumatizing the pilots with Elfen Lied. Part of the reason the other shows (from the lazerdiscs to MFE) were so painful was due to how close to home those shows were. They were them, or at least a version of themselves that weren't so lucky.

Unless someone from Elfen Lied pays NERV a visit, I'm confident that for the most part they'll react calmly or with vicerual disgust similar to one of us watching it.

Portal on the other hand...

I was flip flopping between it being a short and a long form, due to the length.
I'm just, like... how? :rofl2: Is it because it's been around for so long that it feels longer itself? 😅
Oh well, might be able to finish the current chapter before it comes up then...
Yeah, right. Given out respective update speeds, you'd probably be done with ND and other super long fics before I'll be able to wrap this one up... :V

AHH! O GOD WHAT HAPPENED?! HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN BLACKED OUT!? WEEKS!? MONTHS!? O, just days. Eh, that's nothing new. And, oh yeah, I've got this stupid Apocrypha style fan fiction for y'all. Hopefully my post doesn't get censored because it has too many words. Even then, it's only around 1246 words so it's pretty short compared to Panther's work. I present to you....
NGE A&T: Traveling Rock Brigade

Story by Duff Timmons

Chapter One: Lead Guitar

Asuka and Shinji flew through the doors of the music room, one in each other's arms. Desperately making out like it was the end of the world, when Shinji sat down on the piano seat with Asuka on top of him. They slowed down and reconvened, foreheads touching, breathing heavily. Trying to remember what sent them back to their early days of pure teenage lust. Not that it wasn't bad, it's just that they felt the need to keep this one private. Why?

Asuka spoke first. "Is it me? Or did we just sit through the worst inspirational speech of all time?"

"I have no idea…I'm still surprised no one noticed that we pretended to go to the bathroom at the same time."

"O! People noticed." Asuka followed with a cocky grin. Knowing full well Tanaka and the other girls got a good look at them leaving. Even if they weren't arm in arm, it was pretty clear what they were about to attempt.

"It's just that they can't tell the teachers. Or else the principle will scold them for interrupting. And the teachers are sooo well disciplined that they won't leave their posts."

After a few more kisses, Shinji put the pieces together.

"So, we stay here for at least the next hour or so. Then blend in when the final bell rings." Shinji pulled her in for one of the longest and biggest kisses he ever gave.

She matched him equally, however, so now they were laying on the piano stand. Asuka fully on top of him. Again, they pulled away, both heavily breathing.

"Where….did that come from?" Asuka said smiling with love and confusion.

"You plan things before I can even conceive them, think before I can even blink."

Shinji put his hand up to her face.

"You are always there for me, even if it is to find a new place to make out."

Shinji said with a look of peace, a face that usually meant he was about to cry.

"I still can't believe this is honestly real, how is it that I'm lucky enough to be with you?"

Asuka gave him the same loving smiles, followed by giggling then silence. Staring into each other's eyes, lost in each other's beauty.

"I ask the same thing Baka, every day. That's why I'm always looking for moments like these. Of pure happiness and bliss."

She planted a kiss on his forehead, only to be followed by them making out more. And unfortunately falling on the floor.

THUMP

"AHH!" they both shouted as they fell.

Still somewhat holding on to each other, the two got up aching and groaning.

"Are you al-"

Until something caught Shinji's eyes…….an actual electric guitar. Curious by this, he wandered over to it holding on to Asuka's hand.

"Uh, what are doing?"

Shinji went over to the stand that held the instrument and strummed a few strings. Memories came flowing back, making him tense up. Clutching Asuka's hand and slightly shaking. Causing Asuka to hug Shinji and hold on to him. This calmed him and he turned his head to kiss her cheek.

"It's alright……..just……."

"Just hearing the notes alone made you freeze. What happened?"

Shinji remained silent, staring at the guitar. Only for him to pick it up and start tuning it. Asuka was surprised by this. She let go of her hug around him to get a better view. Shinji looked distant, frowning and standing like he was statue. Almost like he striking a pose. Shinji looked back at her and smiled.

"No one told me to stop playing Cello, so I became a master. You never told me to stop loving you, so I became the best damn boyfriend. And you the best damn girlfriend….."

Shinji looked down at the guitar, it was almost fully tuned. Yet when Shinji looked back down, he frowned. Now looking distant and sad. When the guitar sounded good, Shinji strumed up and down.

"But before any of that……."

(Opening solo to Weezer's Undone)

"........Shinji Ikari was a lonely little boy. Who wanted to be just like his favorite American rock stars."

Shinji stopped. Looked back at Asuka, who was stunned and bewildered by how good her boyfriend was at guitar. He smiled again.

"So, no one told me I couldn't be."

Asuka didn't know what to think and was nearly dumbfounded when Shinji began to sing. Not in Japanese, in perfect American English. Walking while he played the song without messing up on the chords.

(Marcy's Playground - Sex and Candy)

Hangin' round downtown by myself.
And I had so much time.
To sit and think about myself.

He looked back up to Asuka smiling.

And then there she was.
Like double cherry pie.
Yeah there she was.
Like disco superfly.

He looked back down at the guitar, smiling with that far off look. He sat down on a nearby stool.

I smell sex and candy here.
Who's that lounging in my chair.
Who's that casting devious stares.
In my direction.

Shinji froze, letting the note ring. He simply sat there, then threw the guitar on the ground. Then very low and out of tune.

Mama this surely is a dream.
Yeah mama this surely is a dream.
Yeah mama this surely is a dream.

The two stood and sat in silence for a minute. When Shinji looked up at Asuka, she was still dumbfounded. Making Shinji smile and giggle a little in embarrassment.

"I'm sorry……..that…….."

"WAS AMAZING!" Asuka shouted. Catching Shinji off guard, making him up straight faster than ever. Only to see his girlfriend rushing up and furiously kissing him. She pulled back and with the biggest smile in the world. Practically praised him.

"Why didn't you ever tell me you loved classic rock?! That's my favorite genre!"

Shinji didn't know how to respond, now it was his turn to be dumbstruck as well as smile.

"What?"

"And you speak fluent english, enough to sing…...YOU CAN SING!"

Shinji couldn't help but turn bright red, as the smile of his girlfriend nearly made him pass out in happiness.

"It…..haha…..never came up."

Asuka hugged Shinji, burying her head on the side of his shoulder. Laughing and ...crying.

"This is amazing, you're….."

She stiffened, remembering how he reacted when he played. She looked at him with concern, a soft look that warmed Shinji soul.

"It hurts you to play."

Silence, both hypnotized by each other's eyes. Shinji eventually nodded, and leaned in to kiss her. The same deep kiss he gave her before. When they opened their eyes, Shinji did something unexpected.

"It's an incredibly hard story to tell….."

Shinji held and kissed her hands.

"Some other time…..just not now. Not while I'm here, happy and with you."

Shinji's look was mature and distant, his body relaxed. Yet he hadn't let his guard down. This made Asuka nervous, something so bad that her boyfriend who shared his entire life story with her. Made damn sure to skip over this part. All she could do was say…

"Ok, just promise me you won't let it stop you from playing." Asuka smile made Shinji cry.

"If it means I can now serenade you with The Beatles, I won't ever stop."

Only to kiss her again, and massage her back the way he always did. The rest of the day was another average school day. Yet, something loomed now over the relationship of the EVA couple.

Ahh, oh! Duff took over again, since when did I give that fan boy admin privileges. Whatever, I have to go......practice. Yeah, practice.

Okay, commenting out-of-character first. Cute story. I like. I like a lot.

Now then, time to have some fun...

Whatever, I have to go......practice. Yeah, practice.

Does this "practice" involve "unloading your Positron Rifle" into a certain redhead? 😉

...I have not had a date since the war with the 'Cons broke out, and it's filling my processor with dirty thoughts.

The literal state of Arizona liked something..........America is weird.

My race's God-creator is also our home planet. Don't you talk to me about weird, Ikari.

Okay, so having just finished reading the final chapter of MFE...

Holy fuck.

Ultra Sonic, you're a legend.

I'm really, really, really looking forward to seeing the Chronicles reaction now because... well, words do not describe my awe.

That said, a curiosity. The epilogue was apparently last edited last month, despite being originally posted in 2017. Can't say for sure just what was changed, but given the epilogue's context, I can hazard a guess.

Honestly, Sonic, if you have tweaked the epilogue to provoke a reaction out of the Chronicles cast, I applaud you. If it's the lines I think it is on top of that, I really hope you get that reaction.

Is it the 4th wall breaking bit? :p

The bit you're thinking of was actually part of the original, alas. :V (As you'll see on the FFNet version)

Almost all of the edits during this Chronicles run have been related to fixing typos and formatting errors that have been present since I first cross-posted this fic in 2016. Any additions are all tied to tightening the grammar or filling in some narrative blank spots, but nothing substantively new has been added (in terms of true plot-relevant scenes or major character interactions).

Oh, and fixing inaccurate German. :p

But I'm really glad you enjoyed it! it's been fun, going back through this.

Except for the one where I put my positron canon into a cute redhead.
I feel like I wrote the book on weird.

...Fair point.

On a related note, EVERY universe? And here I thought Starscream was a cosmic whipping boy!
