Keep in mind, in the scene referenced CC!Kaworu was being depicted as a muscle-bound Adonis, because CC!Kaworu can reshape his body however he likes. Canon!Kaworu is an improbably skinny fourteen-year-old in a badly-fitting student uniform. The only real similarity is the coloring and the name, like someone heard about NERV from rumors and tried to write a show off it.So. . . If that Kaworu looks anything even close to canon Kaworu, how much are Shinji and Asuka going to freak when they see him? And then moreso when/if they find Kaworu is a angel-hybrid (Or angel? I'm not 100% clear on what Kaworu is here).
And I appreciate you posting it early.Ok, it's 0500, I'm so tired I'm dizzy, and this hasn't been beta'd. OTOH, made it.
An a pitch for the campaign, this chapter was top-notch.Misato was finally snapped out of her bewildered staring by Asuka's voice. "That looked awesome! I can't wait to see it! And that female lead was great!"
"I don't know... it's supposed to be a giant robot show, but it spent more time showing a bunch of teenagers doing stupid shit with their shirts off. Takes itself way too seriously," Shinji replied. He cocked his head. "That redhead reminds me of you."
Cabana boy? Mistress? You are not making it subtle Asuka.Asuka arched her back in a stretch. "Mmmm, that was nice to watch, though. Now keep massaging, cabana boy. And then you've got my dinner to make."
"Yes, mistress..." Shinji sighed, and bent his head to concentrate on her feet.
I reiterate: Every new thing I hear about Children's Crusade makes me want to read it even more.t's like someone heard about NERV, took a lot of drugs, and then tried to make it a comedy-drama-angst-romance with an ensemble cast of traumatized lunatics. It's a cheesy giant robot show, but a lot of fun. Everyone in it is pretty hot, too. Especially that Akram guy. Yow."
Giant clunky cell phones. Sega Genesis. Laserdiscs. SDAT players. It may be 2015, but technology kind of stalled in the wake of the Second Impact...
Subtlety would be counterproductive.
Sorry to continue the tangent about Stryp's AdEva campaign, but how do these games get started? And where can I go to apply?
I've never played any sort of pen-and-paper/text-based RPG, so GMing would be a very bad idea for me. Is there a thread anywhere for announcing IRC games of any kind, be they AdEva or otherwise?Usually the GM will post somewhere that they are starting a game and are looking for X amount of players, at Y time. The Adeptus Evangelion irc channel is a good place to start, but there are always more players than there are GM's willing to run. You may have some luck here on SV, either as a PbP or on IRC. Honestly your best bet for getting in a game would be to start one yourself. As a note the next version of the AdEva beta is going to do some major changes as well, so you may want to wait for that to release before starting a game if you intend to do that.

Honestly, I couldn't care less if it's AdEva or not. Pathfinder, DnD, Nobilis, Exalted, whatever. No thread, at least not on SV, I don't think there's enough of a AdEva population for it here. irc://irc.rizon.net/AdeptusEvangelion would be the best place to look for a game, though I will warn you that there are far more players than GMs, so do not be surprised if there are no open games at the moment, and you may well be waiting awhile for a game to open up. You could also try asking around here on SV if anyone is interested in running AdEva, though usually if someone is they'll announce that they are looking for players.
I mispoke, there is a RP recruitment thread on SV, I had forgotten about it. I edited my post to reflect that.Honestly, I couldn't care less if it's AdEva or not. Pathfinder, DnD, Nobilis, Exalted, whatever.
I lucked into this campaign because Arkalest knows I am a big Evangelion fan, and let me join even though the campaign was already severely oversized at seven players. The system is really not setup to handle that many players, but Arkalest is somehow making it work, and we have the best dedication to keeping in character and out of character knowledge separate that I've ever seen in an RP group. Also, this number of serious players is making the inter-character action even more entertaining than usual. We do as much damage to ourselves as the GM does.Sorry to continue the tangent about Stryp's AdEva campaign, but how do these games get started? And where can I go to apply?
I see. Clever, clever Asuka. You're Kyoko's daughter alright.Yeah, Asuka is likely going for Shock & Awe, totally desensitize Misato so when the lovebirds drop the N2 bomb that is the fact that they've been sleeping together for months, Misato'll just go "Meh" and take another pull of her beer.
hissShe warily slid her keycard through the slot, and let her door his open.
Comma; the sentence is still running.Clean up after me, cook what I want to order, and..." she waved at the young man currently working on her toes. "Massages on demand."
saved
And I bet she didn't play it.

Well, all the brainpower probably went to the giant mechas.
But this is very, very common in anime, and SF in general. Consumer electronics moves so fast that no matter what you come up with, no matter how advanced or just plain wacky, is going to seem ludicrous in a few years. I remember watching Alien, and being agog at the green-on-black cathode ray tube that's displaying
FTL OK
ARTIFICIAL GRAVITY OK
Or Robocop, with its cyborgs, orbital laser satellites, and non-flatscreen TVs. Or Bubblegum Crisis, where despite it being the 2040s the phones have cords.
Mankind has a great tendency to predict the future... and get it exactly wrong.
Not necessarily. I remember at one comic-con I attended a University professor put on a panel discussing the effects of Sci-fiction on influencing the directions people take technology. It was kind of a, "What comes first the chicken or the egg?" discussion. What came first, Kirk's communicator or the cell phone? That's because SF can't predict the future, nothing can. All it can do is be about the present, or at absolute best about the past.
That's because SF can't predict the future, nothing can. All it can do is be about the present, or at absolute best about the past. I have to tell people this all the time -- it's just entertainment.
That would explain why the PbP game he was GMing really went down the drain at that point. Not that I blame him, it was kind of dying anyways, and twenty+ players in a character driven RP was just way too much.I'm just a player in this one. Our GM is the redoubtable @Arkalest, who has helped us match and even surpass canon levels of angst, drama, conspiracy, and much more. We've also managed to a ton of comedy, romance, and other madness on Arkalest's Wild Ride.
Does it have fuzzy not!Ewoks?...Basically, "Children's Crusade" is to "Evangelion" as "Wormhole X-treme" is to "Stargate: SG1".
