Good, good. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the relationship chart a fellow WAFF worshipper made.

Which you can find somewhere in this thread.

Eh, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Here's a somewhat oddball EVA question: do we have any idea, in-universe, where Rei Ayanami's family name came from? Did Gendo just pick it out of a hat, or did it come from somewhere?

In Rebuild we find that it was Yui's family name, but in TV canon we know that not to be the case; Ikari was Yui's name to start with, while Gendo used to be Gendo Rokobungi.

If I remember right, Gendo's excuse for Rei's presence as a small child when asked by Naoko was that she was the child of a relative, and he was looking after her for them. Could it be there actually is/was an Ayanami family with ties to the Ikaris (perhaps with no known survivors after Second Impact), and that Gendo used their surname for Rei as an additional layer of deception as to her true origins, allowing him to pass off her resemblance to Yui (on the off chance someone noticed after Gendo destroyed all pictures of her) as simply family resemblance ('daughter of Yui's cousin' or some such, 'tragically orphaned in the chaos following Second Impact,' with all records 'lost')?

In universe there is no reason given for the name Ayanami in the original series at least. Out of universe it just fits with the based on warship theme Anno has running through it. It could very well be that he did just pluck the name from a random persons grave or something.

Well IRL Rei's first name came from Sailor Mar's first name, and her last name came from the WW2 destroyer IJN Ayanani.
Also, I remember in the manga that Yui did have a sibling, who raised Shinji.

IIRC some in-depth information somewhere started that it was a distant (and possibly extinct?) related clan's name. Could be wrong, but am on phone and unable to google it, at the moment.

There's also this 'naming characters after warships' thing. If you name your character after a warship, your anime/manga is going to succeed.
I know only two such works, though. Evangelion and... Attack on Titan. IJN Mikasa.

Comedy Omake #49 - Matt R's "Principles"
Here's a little snippet of a possible future... provided everyone involved makes it through A&T alive.

OMAKE: Principles

June 2016

Misato Katsuragi narrowly avoided spitting her morning wake-up beer all over the newspaper when she saw the article.

"She's what? When? But... I... we... Gah!"

Consternation was written on Misato's face, seasoned with a dash of dismay.

"...What is it?" Ryoji Kaji asked groggily, walking into the kitchen and rubbing his eyes.

"'Not very adept at living,' my ass," Misato muttered. "How is it even legal? At their age?" She then closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and exhaled after a moment.

"I'm taking a vacation," she declared.

"...Good?"

"Pack your bags. You're coming with me."

"...Now?"

"Yes."

"...Where?"

"Osaka."

"...Why?"

"Because they still have those little instant wedding chapels there."

"...Oooh. This is about them getting engaged, isn't it?"

"Damn right it is."

"Don't get too spun up about it, dear; that relationship has been percolating for eons. Literally, given what we know now," he added with a sly grin.

"Don't start with me, Ryoji."

"I thought you liked them? Don't you want them to be happy?" he continued.

"I do! It's just... it's the principle of the thing!"

"And there are additional factors; it's a bit of a big deal, given the circumstances."

"I don't care. This... is where I draw the line. It's all well and good that Shinji and Asuka getting their relationship shit together is what gave us the kick in the pants to get serious. Frankly... we needed that. I don't care that I'm next to the last of our old college crowd to get married. I brought that on myself. But... I will not be beaten to the altar by Rei Ayanami!"

Anyone else never going to get over the fact that Kaji's given name is Ryoji?

I'm trying to figure out how the married naming is going to go for the two of them. It would be weird to call Misato 'Kaji,' but equally weird to call Kaji anything else. I'm almost thinking Kaji changes his name ('Ryoji Katsuragi'), but everyone keeps calling him Kaji anyway as a nickname.

Even if Misato takes Ryoji's name, she'll still be Misato (or Mrs. Kaji if you please), but he will be Kaji until the Stars burn out.

Dammit. I wanted to make it a week without posting in this thread. And I had half an hour to go too.

Good grief, I turn my back for just a moment and then...

Let's tone it down a little, at least; the "sacrifice the newbie" bit got somewhat out of hand the last few times.

So long as it is kept light-hearted and fun I don't think that there should be any problems.

As the self-appointed Master of Ceremonies I accept this responsibility :D

Oh. I guess my timing could have been better. :/

Don't worry about it, you weren't to know

I am willing, able, and prepared, but yeah, I don't want to cause any more derails

Oho! Always happy to see a keen volunteer :D

Personally, I've found that so long as you keep it relevant and try to keep it fun for everyone you shouldn't run into any problems.

She could call him "Mister Kaji" to emphasize that they're now married, Goshujin-san (Husband), or a plain familiar 'Anata' (You).
How are you holding up at the moment @Strypgia?
Tired, fighting for sleep, trying to write. Maybe something by....shit, it's Friday, isn't it?

....welp, I've got a 12 hours...

Agreeing with the above two, health comes first in all circumstances. Forget about us, it'll make us happier that you're healthy and happy rather than forcing yourself to write something for our sake. Go get some rest or whatever.
