Omake: A Kuudere's Revenge is Naturally Served Cold

Yeah, do always remind me of never pissing off Rei.

The newspaper arrived one regular morning, as it had arrived across all other mornings.

However, the newspaper itself was an irregular issue; the publishing company was losing its readership. The reason for it was unknown, but it might have had something to do with the fact that the only truly interesting news to the citizens of Tokyo-3 was the news that was happening right out side their windows.

So they released quizzes; it was about 40% of the NEWspaper's (so named because, rather ironically for a newspaper company, they didn't write good headlines) content. The other parts were job offers and politicians taking enough drugs to fuel the economies of entire nations, so it was otherwise typical.

Asuka picked it up.

"Hey, Shinji?"

"Yes?"

"You know what "Another Brick in the Wall" is?"

"... Yes. It's something you say when you're building houses."

"But it's in the music trivia part of the quiz."

"... What's the question?"

"What's the name of the album that Another Brick in the Wall debuted in? :
A.) The Wall.
B.) Dark Side of the Moon.
C.) Wish You Were Here.
D.) Animals."

".... I have no idea which one it is. I've never heard of any albums with those names in my entire life."

"Me neither. Honestly, I'm pretty sure they're making up questions here."

"Why, though?"

"No clue, but they have to be making up questions if I can't solve them."

"... Asuka, I don't know about this stuff, and I'm the music buff."

"I played violin once."

"I play cello regularly and wrote a concerto. I'm a better musician than you. You have to admit defeat there, Uberwenchen."

"I'll beat you eventually! When I start practicing! And actually want to beat you..."

"What happened to you?"

"Your home cooked meals and cleaning services:p, cinnamon."

"This question is worthless; look for other ones-"

"Yeah, but I solved most of them. The pop culture section is the one area that doesn't make any sense to me; IT'S CALLED POPULAR CULTURE, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THINGS PEOPLE KNOW! If I, the God Mind Asuka can't solve this, then the question is deliberately unsolvable. That is the only possibility."

"The answer's The Wall."

The Children looked behind them. Misato. Of course she knew the answer to that question. Who the hell else could answer those questions, the Children thought to themselves.

And adults everywhere sneezed. It was in the next days NEWspaper. Again, barely anyone read the poor thing.

"It's technically a single, granted. You don't know?"

The young couple shook their heads.

"Wow. Well, shit. I really didn't want to do THIS, of all things."

"....What are you talking about?"

And then she showed them her Albums.

The Children didn't like them all that much.

They have no taste, obviously.

Yes, this is all I can come up with.

Oh boy, of all the bands to introduce the emotionally abused, trauma-ridden childhood having, intentionally emotionally distancing Second and Third Children to, you chose The Wall. The one about an emotionally distancing man who chose to numb his pain with copious amounts of narcotics.

If this wasn't A&T, boy howdy that's a recipe for stoner!Shinji and sedated!Asuka.

Edit: Whoops, meant to say album, not band.

... The band's name is Pink Floyd.

But yeah, not the songs for these two.

Probably best to give them Queen songs, honestly.

I am so disappointed in both of you. ~frown~

Queen is always the correct choice.
Damn skippy, it is.

Writing happening. 12 hour days not helping.

Well, but the message of Another Brick in the Wall (not the actual lyrics maybe, but the video and the attitude and everything) fits very well to the situation of the Children.

BRITISH MUSIC IS BEST MUSIC
Better put a genre on that, because the Scandinavians and Americans have been passing various sub-types of metal back and forth for a while, Canada has had folk sewn up for decades, rhythm and blues was born and bred in Chicago, straight blues and soul were the essence of the South, the Germans invented entire musical movements, and I could go on.

Oh, are we doing punk bands for disaffected, traumatised teenage burn-outs? I have just the one!

When most outcasts my age were joining the Black Parade, I was reading the copy of Bob Geldof's memoirs I found lying around in the Special Educational Needs room.
