Meros is once again protected, and the Ork prevented from landing, but one doubts this will last—the next attack will surely bring greater strength, and Geal-Vad's fleet is now somewhat damaged. Some will have to be towed back to the Craftworld for repair, and it is likely that reinforcement should be sent. Still, this is very much a victory.
This is why we need to spend some vault power getting there ships repaired. there ramping up. We bought time, but we need to invest if we want to crush them with the same ease when next they visit.

A quick peek over the vote tally, it looks like Vaul's anvil has 16-17 votes, The Forgehammer has 10 or 13, The cloudburst has 9, and the Anvil of sundering has 9. Going off that, If we take one of every category It would Be Vaul's anvil, Forghammer and Cloudburst assuming no one wants 2 anvils/superheavy's.

but eh, Runoff would be fine to, this is getting a bit messy when I have to add an or while discussing vote numbers lol.

Edit: so (after some manual tallying as the vote counter seems to be having issues with coalating votes) it appears there will not be a need for a runoff vote after all. For the record, the Revamped "Vaul's Anvil" (with 17 total votes; we'll workshop the name a bit) the Max Slots variant of the Forgehammer MBT design (with 13 total votes) and the Cloudburst skimmer (with 10 votes) are the winners; of the runners up only the Anvil of Sundering and Hailstorm had more than 5 votes (9 and 3 respectively).

So, what kind of equipment was the Cloudburst supposed to have for its crew, by the way? I can't find anything about what we're equipping them with

Nice to know we're doing nothing with the several dozen Fateshredders we're going to wind up with.

We just voted to put personal weapons requiring exotic resources on our heavy tank vehicle crew, for whom personal weapons are only ever an emergency backup.

Competent designers, that's us.

It just occurred to me that with a name like "Vaul's Anvil" this could potentially cause the 40k Eldar term for superheavy tanks "Engine of Vaul" to become commonplace earlier than canon 40k once this thing makes it's debut since I doubt pre-fall Eldar would consider this vehicle type worthy of that term (C'tan Stargod-killing Blackstone Fortress's were called Talisman of Vaul).

Point of order, you haven't voted for crew equipment yet---this is always going to be a separate vote, as each vehicle can have different crew numbers and in some cases you will have different restrictions on certain portions of said crews, depending on the specific configuration of the vehicle and or its base chassis. Or just want to equip portions differently, like giving the guy in the mostly open coupla heavier armor than the guy in the nice enclosed cockpit.

977.M29 | Turn 2 | The Emissary | Vehicle Subvote 2/2
Ceil-Vad, third son of Aresh-Vul, raised an eyebrow as he examined what the Harliquins had brought¹, whilst mentally thanking his preferred Kuronos² that his hot-tempered brother Seil-Vad was currently up to his neck in the various joys³ of administering the Craftworld rather than here. He knew his brother well enough to know that an outburst would have been inevitable, given the inscrutible servants of the Fool had brought, as their promised advisor;
"A tree." He stated, flatly (and for the third time; the Troupe-master had simply smirked wider each time.)

Because it was, indeed, a tree. Oh, no mistake, it was attractive enough—bark nearly white-silver and rich Isha-green foliage, easily five or six centuries old and of the sort that might be found in any of the Craftworld's larger green-spaces—or most of the Maiden Worlds for that matter—but it was, so far as he could tell, an ordinary and unremarkable tree in a pot the size of a fairly large vehicle. It didn't even have the signs typical to fruit or nut producing trees, so that was out—though he supposed the bark, leaves or even the wood itself might be some flavor of edible or medicinally useful.
His continued bemusement was clearly amusement for the Troupe-master, who seemed, with every passing second, incrimentally closer to open laughter, but before that occurance the Harliquin simply gave an exaggeratedly put-upon movement, and 'explained'⁴
"No simple tree is this, you see, but indeed-" the Harliquin abruptly flipped himself into a backwards tumble, stopping at the tree's thickly knarled trunk and then rapping on it. The grand proclamation of "-An Emissary!" to finish the interrupted sentence was rather drowned out by the abrupt ignition of a very, very familiar sensation to Ceil-Vad's less material senses, and the way the bark rippled like a standing pool of water as the emissary stepped out of it. She was in the shape of an Aeldari, but her flesh was the pale-vibrant green of fresh shoots, her hair a mixture of vine and leaf, and the raiments of one of Isha's priestesses were clearly a mix of bark and leaf grown directly from her floral flesh rather than the clothing they resembled.

The shocking thing, however, was what he could see of the Flaw—for her soul was wrapped in thick roots that spiraled off, first to the tree, and then to some distant location. She was Aeldari, clearly, and yet just as clearly one who had done something… quite radical, to deny the Enemy.
"I," the plant-Aeldari began, "am Irsfeial. And I am burdened with many purposes and no few dark tidings…"

How do you react?
[ ] With Shock
[ ] With Sanguinity
[ ] With Calculation

THIS DECISION WILL HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

1: Studiously ignoring his brother Reaf-Vad engaged in significant debate with the Troupe's musicians. Said brother being rather fond of music and having threated to run off and join the Harliquins on more than one occasion before the Fall.
2: Said god might have been very, very dead, but the habits of a good four millennia do not vanish overnight.
3: The amount of sarcasm in the specific Aeldari word that he was thinking, of course, exceeds the ability of merely human languages to express. Suffice to say, it is very sarcastic.
4: Anyone who has ever delt with Harliquins "explaning" things, quickly learns this often leaves one more confused rather than less. The Fool rather enjoys befuddling people and people-adjacent entities, and so do his followers.

The next stage is to decide what equipment to give to your new vehicles by default.

The Cloudburst has a significant difference in overall protection as the pilot is fully enclosed by the cockpit, but the gunner is far more exposed in the open copula. Equally, only the gunner could potentially contribute to the vehicle's fire with any weapons they may be carrying.
[ ] Cloudburst Driver (Write in)
May be equipped with Wraithweave Brigandine or Void Guard Warsuit, with the former recommended. May have either two sidearms or a Carbine regardless of armor type. Does not contribute to vehicle attacks under any circumstances, only used dismounted.
[ ] Cloudburst Gunner
May be equipped with Wraithweave Brigandine or Void Guard Warsuit, with no significant recommendation. May carry a sidearm or carbine if the former, and either two sidearms or a longarm if the latter. If equipped with a ranged sidearm or carbine, may contribute to vehicle attacks under some circumstances.

Second there is the four man crew of the Starhammer Battle Tank, who naturally benefit from the vehicle's fully enclosed nature, though there are certain limitations of space to consider. You may either equip the entire crew identically, or opt to give the vehicle commander different weapons (though for reasons of practicality, all of the crew will be equipped with the same armor) if desired.
[ ] Starhammer Crew (Write-in)
- [ ] (Optional) Vehicle Commander alternative weapons (Write-in)
May be equipped with Wraithweave Brigandine or Void Guard Warsuit, with the former recommended. May have either two sidearms or a Carbine regardless of armor type. Does not contribute to vehicle attacks under any circumstances, only used dismounted.

Lastly, there is the six-man crew of the superheavy Star Anvil assault tank, which has, effectively, similar considerations to the smaller Starhammer—however, the high cost of the vehicle means that it may be desirable to keep the cost of the crew equipment down, though there is also an argument that it is already so expensive that spending a little more isn't a serious issue.
[ ] Star Anvil Crew (Write-in)
- [ ] (Optional) Vehicle Commander alternative weapons (Write-in)
May be equipped with Wraithweave Brigandine or Void Guard Warsuit, with the former semi-strongly recommended. May have either two sidearms or a Carbine regardless of armor type, lower cost moderately recommended. Does not contribute to vehicle attacks under any circumstances, only used dismounted.

How bizarre...It's an interesting route to go down.

In my headcanon, each of the 3 of the 4 major Aeldari factions isn't corrupted since they tap into a surviving God's Domain. They don't usually get corrupted by the other Chaos Gods due to them 1 tangling the line with Slaanesh and because the surviving Aeldari Gods are...challenges to the domains of the four.
Exodite-Isha battles Nurgle
Clowns-Cegorah battles Tzeentch
Asuryani-Khaine (kind of) "battles" Khorne
Drukhai to various degrees embrace Slaanesh and thus don't factor in

The Tree lady might've gone down an Isha route. We will be tapping into a domain that isn't directly under any of the 4 yet is tied to them all in some manner. In the future, we will have to compete with the Arkifane over the domain that was once Vaul's alone.

I say give the clowns what they want, feel shock, its the best way to act with emissaries of elf-Loki. They get a laugh, and you get a lesson.

Sanguinity seems like the right choice. turning yourself into a dryad is cool, Denying slaneesh is cool. Screwing over slannesh by turning yourself into a dryad is double cool.

I wonder how the whole binding your soul and flesh to a tree works with the Exodites Maiden worlds, That seems like a cool path to go down, Protect the soul Via binding with Plantlife/Tree's, And then Returning to the maiden world by being replanted, circumventing the issue that keeps exodites from engaging with the wider galaxy.

Also, Biopunk is cool, Biopunk Ents with Heavy space age weaponry sounds kick ass.

Oh boy, nothing like a virtually blind vote that has major consequences!

T_T

Anyway, it does look like this proves that our path isn't impossible, but all three of these options seem to accept that, the difference is... Well, context.

And since it's basically a blind vote with Major Consequences, I dunno what to do.

Sanguinity seems appropriate. It's good to know we're not the only ones who declined the Paths of Asuryan bandwagon. Or Calculation, since it could show us some very useful information as we work on our own plans.

Personally I lean towards Calculation. This is A path, but perhaps not the one we shall take, though we will learn from it.

Right now, I am genuinely feeling a mix of shock and happiness right now. It's like someone brought us a new friend and it's someone we didn't know we needed.

In all likely hood, The vote is kinda easy to parse. Reacting with shock is a relatively neutral reaction, Reacting with Sanguinity is taking a good/exited view on this, possibly with a desire to adopt it ourselves and calculation from a eldar is typically "How can I best use you as a meat shield" For this, It definitely feels like how we are going to respond to this new method of denying the Flaw in the Eldar soul and if we will try to emulate/mimic it, or put it off to the side for taking inspiration from.
Personally, The Idea of Ent mechs covered in hyper advanced weaponry and Space druids is an aesthetic that I can absolutely fuck with, So I am Sanguinity all the way. Given the Text descriptions, It sound like they manage to bind themselves to a Maiden world like the exodites do, and have used plantlife/Tree's as a soulstone/Medium to maintain that connection and/or serve as storage . Space intensive, But TBh that a very good solution on the face of things.

In turns of gear, Give the Cloudburst Driver a brigadine and a Spike carbine, Keep the cost cheap, Its a fast attack platform, Not really elite and he will hopefully never use it. Spike hits a middle ground between Killing bigger things and smaller things that will hopefully keep them alive long enough to reach home. The cloudburst gunner can have Void Guard, And I would Argue could absolutely use a flamer Longarm to efficiently mop up Screamered targets, Or just as a "Fuck Off option" If not that, Then just give the guy a needler and call it a day.

For the starhammer, Just give them brigadines, They are in a tank, They don't need heavy armour, They nede to be able to Drive, and at most retreat. In terms of weaponry, I could see giving the Tank commander a 2 fancy pistols, but aside from that they should just get spikers (Same reasoning as with the Driver).

With reaching for your dictionary.

Yep. Positivity and blood. Let's hope that the QM means the first of the two.

Personally I'd like to react with:
[*] Bland acceptance and a polite curiosity.

But that would be just to fuck back with the Harlequin.

Generally accepting of their lesser nonsenses with a wry smile - possibly even a self-effacing chuckle! and being occasionally mildly supportive of their goals in real material/AP terms is my ideal approach to interacting with these silly little guys.

This gang of goobers. This coterie of clowns. This tripaise of tomfoolerers.
