Neon Genesis Evangelion Asuka Quest for the Pleiades!

It'll be fun and light-hearted.

PMAS really slogs when Sabrina starts drinking heavily until she pukes during a witch fight for non-disgust related reasons, but then it really picks up and she realizes she can have lucid dream nonsense adventures with her various inner voices when she goes to sleep.

Well, on the one hand, I could certainly see Sailor Moon and Dungeon Keeper individually existing in PM-World. On the other, having a lone magical girl bound to an inanimate stone in charge of a dungeon she can reshape with her mind hits really close to Witchbomb, and her fight with the Horned Reaper does the same for the Lichbomb. Not points against, mind you, but something that may attract Incubator attention.
So what I'm getting from this is that Pusukoranu of PMAS is either a meguca or a close friend of one who decided to write fic taking inspiration from their (friend's) experiences.

  • [X] Telepathy Hijiri
    -[X] talk to us later.
    -[X] everyone deserves good treatment
-[X] vicious cycle, both sides are scared. We can help both sides feel safer.
-[X] Mami serves cake that you must try sometime
    [X] Oriko
-[X] Thanks so much! How did you deal with burden?
-[X] You do that so much better than me!
-[X] Go into privacy to talk details
    [X] Anri
-[X] What do you think happens next?
-[X] Where are you living, and with who?
[X] Choose revenge, or choose Yuuri.
-[X] make us believe having you help us get her back isn't a mistake

So, what are we gonna do with Anri?

So, options as I see them:

-Let Anri go with an agreement to stop her vendetta. Likely to get Anri to try and murder the Pleiades once free. Possibly seeking out Hijiri first.

-De-Gem Anri. Doesn't solve the problem. Hijiri will flip if she sees this.

-Keep Anri captive. Have Kirika+Niko figure out a permanent tracking/anti-magic device to put on Anri. Once the device is done, let Anri go free with an agreement to not hurt anyone anymore. Hijiri hopefully to be found and Social'd before Anri is let go. Anri would be held comfortably enough. The Pleiades would have to figure out how to keep her captive safely.

Meanwhile, I believe we should offer Anri to let her help with the de-Witching effort, for the purposes of helping Yuuri. This would make her a research partner, and she'd have to acknowledge Niko and Sabrina as people she needs in order to save Yuuri.

Also, we should let Oriko know we appreciate her efforts, and have the Pleiades (specially Niko) pitch in.

We probably want Niko to talk with Anri, too. Niko actually knows what the fuck Anri's going on about now.

Given how she was behaving, I'm gonna say that we definitely shouldn't let her go. She was pretty much fully ready to kill her hostage during that confrontation and that's not a god sign. To another point 'trust is good, control is better' so even if she 'gives us her word', I don't think Anri is really trustworthy enough for that course of action.

I'm also getting the impression of a mind-set similar to Akiko from her. She's just not going to give up her vendetta at this point I feel unless we really break her mentally and I'd rather avoid that if at all possible.

A house arrest is probably the best long-term outcome we're going to get with her.

Putting her in house arrest at Oriko's place has been brought up a few times.

... I kind of don't want to do that, though. I'd rather O&K didn't have to put up with Anri every day.

But I guess someone has to keep an eye on Anri. And she'd resent the Pleiades even more if they keep her jailed.

I guess we can talk with the Pleiades, first?

[Q] Reminisce with Oriko about the time you caught Oriko after she burned down Sayaka's home.
-[Q] Remember how Oriko was totally willing to cooperate-
--[Q] I REMEMBER HOW ORIKO WAS TOTALLY WILLING TO COOPERATE AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE THREATENED INTO ANYTHING, DO YOU REMEMBER HOW ORIKO WAS TOTALLY WILLING TO COOPERATE FROM THE GET GO WITHOUT ANY THREATS BEING MADE?
---[Q] GOOD TIMES.

Yeah, I agree. Honestly, even if we de-magic her, letting her go still isn't the best option. She's unlikely to let go of her vendetta and if she's free, she can always try and talk someone else - say, a random newly-contracted girl - into finding a way to break our antimagic/whatever enchantment. Or - more plausibly, as Airi doesn't really seem clear-headed enough to convince anyone - Kyuubey talks the random contractee into doing it and now we once again have two wildcard enemies. House arrest is probably the safest bet.

Putting her in house arrest at Oriko's place has been brought up a few times.

Really, as much as the hotel is what we seem to be basing our general infrastructure plans on, I think we should consider looking into setting up some sort of prison/rehabilitation center for meguca who do terrible things if we don't want to be going around killing people or creating the Fridge. If we have the antimagic, it probably wouldn't even be hard - find a place where we can securely hold people without being inhumane about it, give them a Kirika-made anklet, and keep their Soul Gems taped to Clear Seeds somewhere separate but within range. It seems kind of difficult to bring a measure civility back into meguca culture without having any response to violent troublemakers between "rip their souls away from their body until such a time as we think we can deal with them" and "let them go free and hope they don't come back." And neither of those are really helpful for rehabilitation.

Actually, could we use Oriko's warehouse? Make sure it's well supplied with food and water and necessities, keep her there? Because honestly, I don't think it's a good idea to leave her with the Pleiades, both because of her grudge and the witchbomb, but it's also a terrible idea to let her go.

I guess I really want to talk with Oriko and the Pleiades before answering?

[ ] Gather everyone to discuss Anri.

[ ] Oriko: What does Anri want? Any reasonable demands? Can we trust Anri's word?

[ ] Everyone: Anri: Containment:
-[ ] Keep her in Asunaro? Take her to Mitakihara?
-[ ] How to keep her from escaping? (Niko: Permanent anti-magic/tracker?; imprisonment).
-[ ] Who keeps an eye on her? (Sabrina: Can keep Anri within Fog range / O&K / Pleiades: Anri will likely resent them further).
-[ ] How long would she stay in custody? Conditions for release? (How to trust her to not fuck up things again?)

[ ] Oriko and Niko, in privacy Sphere:
-[ ] Anri could help the de-Witching effort. Oriko could offer to let her help de-Witch Yuuri.

So I got... ideas?

As I see this, Anri needs to be kept in custody away from the Pleiades, and measures need to be taken to facilitate both keeping Anri imprisoned and protecting the Pleiades from Hijiri's next attack.

[X] Oriko:
-[X] Appreciate her efforts.

[X] Listen to opinions. Modify plan if needed.

[X] Anri:
-[X] Arrest. Temporarily at Oriko's, until we arrange something permanent.
--[X] (Keep Anri away from the Pleiades, to avoid compounding her issues and to discourage her from acting out.)
-[X] Consult Mami and Niko about developing security measures. For example:
--[X] A tracker.
--[X] A permanent Anti-Magic enchantment.
--[X] Ideas?

[X] Oriko's negotiation (Privacy Sphere if necessary):
-[X] Offer to let Anri join the de-Witching effort (for Yuuri).
-[X] Grief cleansing will be taken care of.
-[X] Living conditions: Let Anri make reasonable demands.
-[X] No revenge, no huting people, period.

[X] Hijiri:
-[X] We can't find her.
-[X] Be worried for the Pleiades' safety.
--[X] Offer help? (E.g. developing a Grief sensing enchantment to detect Hijiri once she comes back).

[X] Give back the Memory Device, and the Derrick Witch Seed in lieu of Arzt Kochen.

The humor version of this? Sure, let's bring back that omake from Dec 18th, thanks @Onmur ....
Mirai knows how to solve all problems!

Anri is given a restricted area to live in, a parole if you will. She is very near the Pleiades compound. And her other absolute condition is her new wardrobe. Anri Airi is now a sweet gothic lolita maniac. Every item she wears, every single one, has a few little embroideries or dangling stuffed animals. They adapt in all the most ingenious ways, and are rather prominent. And more than 9 in ten are teddy bears. Sometimes one can almost see their eyes move, or a tongue wag. She has a busy daily schedule, that's certain. But well beyond that, Anri is never, ever alone.

Not too happy how this came out. But the idea is out of my head now, so have a snippet/omake anyway. :V

Umika's living room was packed, thirteen magical girls standing or sitting around.

Three of them stood in the center of the room, two of them in the middle of an argument, the rest watching intently.

"... When I said you were giving up, I meant you were giving up on peace," said Sabrina patiently. Before Hijiri could answer, she continued. "You can't have peace and revenge, that's not how it works."

The twin tailed girl grit her teeth, fuming. "Only because of you," she bit out.

"Even-" cut in the taller girl, frowning morosely "-if you somehow got your petty revenge, you wouldn't be at peace, because you know what? You'd have to live with it.

"You saw Niko cry," said girl flinched and looked down, prompting Kazumi's hand to grab her own. "Did you enjoy it, Hijiri?" asked Sabrina. "Because that's not what it looked like to me."

The cloned Kanna looked away, lips curving into a frown. "You can't understand-"

"This again?" a white eyebrow arced regally.

Hijiri fumed. "I just..." she growled, "I want to live in peace, have my own life-"

"I believe that," said the white haired girl earnestly, "I believe you want a life of your own, a peaceful one without-"

"If you did," snarled the blonde, "you wouldn't have hunted me down. If you hadn't stopped me, I'd have..."

Hijiri's words died in her throat; her yellow eyes trailed down her left arm, which sported an inocuous looking bracelet. Inocuous to normal people; to Sabrina's eyes, it looked wrong, a magical void of... magic.

Off to a side, Kirika puffed herself up with pride, orange eyes focused on the argument from her seat atop Oriko's lap.

"After that stunt I'm literally the only person in this room who's trying to help you," said Sabrina, frustration leaking into her voice, "and this is the last chance I can give you." The Pleiades' looks grew heavy on the arguing pair. "So how about you stop fighting me every step of the way?"

"Help me? Bah," Hijiri spat, crossing her arms. "That's what you call imprisoning me. Why don't you just leave me alone? Just... go away!" she yelled angrily.

"Hijiri?" Sabrina's tone turned somber. "I need you to stop being difficult for one time in your life and think very, very carefully about what Mirai is going to do to you if I step out of this room."

The blonde's mouth hung open, a retort frozen on her tongue. Slowly, her head swiveled, sweeping across the room, over all the magical girls watching their interaction, from Mami, who stood close to Sabrina's side, to Kazumi, whose red eyes flickered back and forth between them, to Niko, who was trying her best to not fidget in place, to Umika, Kaoru, Sayaka, Satomi, Oriko and Kirika, Saki, and...

Mirai's eyes smoldered in their sockets, the fluffy haired girl slowly drawing a finger accross her throat as she glared at the cloned Kanna.

Hijiri flinched, instinctively stepping behind Sabrina.

"So," drawled the taller girl with an eyebrow raised, "care to reconsider?"

Yellow eyes flickered up to meet hers, then poked around her arm-

Multiple pairs of blood red eyes shone with murder framing the pink haired girl's darkened visage, the promise of pain and death in those orbs only matched by the screeching clatter of their sharpened metal teeth-

"Mirai!" chides Saki as Hijiri squeaked an 'eep!' and hid behind Sabrina, shuddering.

The short girl's pink eyes fluttered innocently as she turned to her close friend, taking one of the suddenly much cuter looking teddy bears in her arms and smiling brightly.

The monocle wearing girl sighed fondly and rubbed Mirai's head, the fluffy girl leaning into it contentedly.

From behind the pink girl's leg, one of the teddy bears stared at Hijiri, one of its paws pointing at its own eyes, then at the blonde.

"So, what do you say, Hijiri?" prompted Sabrina. "Give peace a try?"

With one last look at the glaring teddy bear, the clone girl gulped and nodded.

Hmmm... maybe we are overlooking something? On the one hand, we should totally let Oriko use us as a lever in her talk right now. I think open ended stress application, such as the suggestion "what do you think happens now?" will get Anri to grant an access. Run this by Oriko immediately. But the other thing she could do is try to gain the reverse angle on Hijiri. Anri had extensive dealing with her, so at some point Hijiri would have become exasperated and tried yelling back. Maybe a bunch of times. Probably spilling some truth. Oriko might have a chance of getting some of that story. We need her to do this, might be now, or soon. This is why we separate the witnesses, people!

I'm super duper sceptical about leaving Airi with Oriko. That sounds like it'll get Homura to start screaming and never stop.

I'm more inclined to see if the Pleiades could keep her under a house arrest of some sort.

Maybe we can keep her, then?

The Pleiades holding Anri captive would... do bad things worse badder things regarding Anri's revenge wishes.

If we keep Anri captive, at least we can keep her within our Fog range, and that's a security measure on its own.

Maybe get the Sayaklone police to guard Anri.

... And maybe Homu can take night watch? >_>

EDIT: If necessary, we can quick telepathy Homu and ask what she thinks about leaving a dangerous meguca prisoner with O&K.

Thanks, I have modified.
The swing block for Anri is... if she can accept that we are trying to de-witch, Sabrina and company have a bunch of anonymous girls to save in random order. The only thing she can grant Yuuri right now is her support, by getting us to accept her. That means she can promote Yuuri's interests, a rather unique position for a witch to be in. I hope Oriko can use something better to bind her, but this would be a start.

If Homura wants to be Anri's first warden, it would be a very special relationship dynamic. All the social time we could spend together, Mami, Homura and ourselves mending / replacing Anri's kneecaps every couple of days....

Lots of improvements to be made, I'm sure.

Maybe discussion will happen while I'm asleep and a fountain of good ideas will rain in this thread! :p

I like this idea. We've got that space available and it's just going to waste right now.

@Onmur I feel like we need to have a conversation in a privacy bubble about what Oriko said to Anri, probably with Niko there, then discuss with the Pleiades as a whole how to handle her.

@The Narrator and @Omniatrix , my firm belief at current is that reflecting upon her life in solitude is not what Anri can do ATM. Be careful putting her in a jail cell. Of course, we didn't evaluate her verbally yet, must do soon.

Wow. reading some of that Discord quote from the other day.... Is this where you intend to bring us, @Firnagzen ?

It isn't that anyone has the right to stop you from crossing your world over with that of "Dimension W."

It looks like you are embracing that? The polar opposite of despair and witches, taken in an environment of matrix algebra and 4D operators? Thus, a hope-despair axis as one of the eleven dimensions, I take it. Magic as a transformation of geometry in higher dimensions? Are we about to invent Coils, perhaps?
Or is this a formalized set of supports, in the academic meaning? The. Shipping. Math. It just got real.~~
I Would like to understand. Please grant us a 'high concept' talk regarding how this underpinning helps you write PMAS?

We either need a way to stop Anri from telling others the truth about witches or we need to keep her separated from most of the others. Just because she apparently calmed down a bit, doesn't mean that she stopped being an info hazard.

Due to this I don't think letting somebody who hasn't been exposed to the witchbomb guard Anri is a good idea. It's the reason why I think Oriko and Kirika would be the most suitable, both due to no risk from infohazards and convenient access to anti-magic. Of course this comes with its own share of problems, mainly having to explain things to Homura and Oriko and Kirika might not be too happy about living with Anri either.
