[X] Continuing resolution.

[X] Simultaneously: Kazumi, Mami.
-[X] Give them your thoughts on Hijiri's need for agency.

[X]Simultaneously: Hijiri
[X] Apologize to Hijiri for making a mess of things. Offer her a cleanse and to block off Yuuri, if she wishes.
- [X] Continue where you left off, asking her what she's willing to tell about Yuuri and her own desires either now or for her life afterwards.
-- [X] Mention your amnesia, but nothing further.
[X] Find ways, large and small, to give Hijiri a choice, be it what she wants to talk about or just her choice of breakfast.

[X] Simultaneously: Yuuri
[X] Get in contact with Yuuri by telling her you have important safety info for the clear seed you created.
- [NEEDS DISCUSSION] "You would not want to find her by witnessing a hatching witch."
- [X] Pester her until the safety information is relayed, but thereafter tell her you'd like to hear her side of things, once, and stop if she refuses.

161/148 words, depending.

So, as clear seed safety information goes I'd like to hear people's opinions on telling Yuuri "You would not want to find her by witnessing a hatching witch." since it's something that would have two drastically different initial meanings to people with different levels of information if laid out before the info. It strikes me as a possible way to probe for what she knows without actually telling her anything, and I get the feeling that it is highly important to know what she knows, given her indiscriminate quest for vengeance and all but I'm not putting it in the vote itself until after there's discussion on it.

Telling Airi she was misled is going to go over poorly.

We need to be emphatic.

[] I wanted to say I am very sorry for your loss.
[] I really do want to talk to you about it.

Do we have any talents or devices that could give us direction and ranging for brainmail clients?

(As an aside, I'm also curious if the Incubator Terminal Appliance functions as a relay or if it just mediates connecting peers?)

Mmm...

[X] Keep abusing multitasking.

[X] Talk with Hijiri about her actions. Appeal to rationality. Was it all a good idea?
-[X] Try and nudge her to take responsibility for her actions.
-[X] Getting Magical Girls to live happy lives is what we made our Wish for. We honestly want to help.

[X] Airi: Call her by her real name.
-[X] Be brief: As far as we understand, she suffered a great loss, and we're sorry we can't help Asuka. But we can help her, if she gives us a chance.
-[X] She hasn't gone too far. We can all talk things through.
-[X] If she blocks telepathy, insist as long as necessary.

[X] Hunting:
-[X] Group brainstorm searching methods.
--[X] Grief sensors (others should copy this); Ribbon Grid; Sayaklone Army; combos thereof.
--[X] Encourage others to propose ideas.
--[X] Ask Hijiri if her powers would help in finding Yuuri.
--[X] Yuuri likes to spy and set up traps. Can we draw her out and counter ambush her?

Ambiguous 'her', because I don't want to differentiate between Yuuri and Airi in case Airi flips out because she Wished to be Yuuri.

...or, you know, just a freaking lie detector. Like I've been suggesting.

[X] Make a Grief-construct lie detector. If possible, make it able to tell whether a given statement is partially true but misleading, technically true but misleading, a total lie, or withholding some information but not misleading.
[X] Question Hijiri--nothing personal, but we need to be sure: was she coordinating with Yuuri at any point since you met her (if so, how)? Has she misled us in any way or omitted any significant information about herself, her actions, or anything regarding Yuuri?
[X] Propose an idea to Mami: using her ribbons to extend your range, create magic-sensing constructs every 100-meters or so, covering the whole city if time permits.
[X] Telepathy-call Yuuri, calling her her original name. Explain that she doesn't actually understand the full picture of what happened to her friend.
So, uh...anyone gonna comment on this vote? Not even criticisms? Anything?

It's also tailored so that, if Yuuri actually responds to that hook, we can go into an empathetic spiel using our metaknowledge in the following vote.

On further thought, saying she hasn't gone too far, will probably piss her off. I can't edit now, but hopefully there'll be more refined bandwagons once I'm home. :p

Empathy is good, but where is she going to think we got this information and what will she think of us for having it?

I am not comfortable playing up the "all knowing stranger" angle here. Not like this. Having a complete stranger or someone you don't trust come in and talking about your most painful moments isn't comforting, is creepy. Either it needs her to tell us first, or it needs to be said after we prove our omniscience bonafides.

I can't say I like it.

The lie detector might help, but would take time that might also be better spent. I can see an argument in favor of it, but that arugment needs to be made and it might be better saved for next vote after we get to the museum and are no longer flying an aircraft.

I don't think we can really ask Hijiri the question you're proposing at this stage. It's basically questioning her truthfulness and is asking for an argument. We don't know enough to say she's lying nor have enough of her trust for her to admit it of her own volition.

The range extension doesn't strike me as well suited to here and now. Better something to suggest after we leave for the next phase.

I dislike telling Anri that the most important moment of her life is wrong as a greeting. (argument fodder, just can't see good things coming of it) Especially when it comes to bringing in metaknowledge to do so as Sabrina does skulduggery like a angry drunken moose does stealth, straight lines, and low collateral damage.

I fully support the Lie Detector, and take no real issue with the range extension (although I'm completely sure that will work--Mami has her own maximum range, as I recall).

I think the method of questioning Hijiri is a bit too direct. We're only just starting to get her to talk to us, and showing distrust now would make her clam up.

I'd recommend we make the lie detector under false pretenses--if someone asks, we can tell them we're making something to help with magic detection--and simply keep it active in the background while we talk about things, moving forward.

If Hijiri proves to be sufficiently deceptive as we do so, THEN we can try to revisit previous topics.

We'll want to get Mami, at least, in on that. Trust and all, you know?

So, before you guys try to catch Airi's attention or irritate her into submission, what exactly is the goal there?

Diplomacing her solely through telepathy will probably be incredibly challenging. Talking someone down without having to beat them up first for once would be pretty great, but the difficulty here feels absurdly high.

Hmmm... Intermediate modifications.

[X] Continuing what you've been doing.

[X] Apologize to Hijiri for making a mess of things. Offer her a cleanse and to block off Yuuri, if she wishes.
-[X] Continue where you left off, asking her what she's willing to tell about Yuuri, her goals, what she wants to do with her life, and so on.
-- [X] Give Hijiri some choice in topics.
-- [X] Mention your amnesia, but nothing further.

[X] Simultaneously: Yuuri
[X] Tell her you at least have important safety info for the clear seed.
- [X] Tell her you'd like to hear her side of things.

[X] Hunting, once back at the museum:
-[X] Group brainstorm searching methods.
--[X] Grief sensors (others should copy this); Ribbon Grid; Sayaklone Army; combos thereof.
--[X] Encourage others to propose ideas.
--[X] Ask Hijiri if she's willing to help find Yuuri.
--[X] Yuuri likes to spy and set up traps. Can we draw her out and counter ambush her?

First off, thanks for actually replying and giving feedback. I appreciate it.

Second, while I kind of agree with you, it's probably the only way for us to get her to respond at this juncture.

The lie detector might help, but would take time that might also be better spent. I can see an argument in favor of it, but that arugment needs to be made and it might be better saved for next vote after we get to the museum and are no longer flying an aircraft.
Is it our Blackbird, or Kazumi's, or Sayaka's? Can't remember.

Either way, it's definitely time well spent. We need to figure out whether we've been deceived or misled now, not an hour from now. For all we know, Hijiri is pointing us in the wrong direction entirely, rendering a search by Sabrina and Mami pointless.

I mean, we're talking something that will take ten minutes at most.

If we are the ones flying the Blackbird, though, then I see your point, but we should still specify to do it once we reach the museum in the vote.

I don't think we can really ask Hijiri the question you're proposing at this stage. It's basically questioning her truthfulness and is asking for an argument.
I don't really understand this reasoning. She attacked our allies and helped to rob them. Then she opened fire on us again. She's currently our prisoner. Her ally is still out there and still intent on hurting/killing our allies. Asking her to use a lie detector (one that actually works reliably) to verify that she's been telling the truth is absolutely our right, and she has no grounds to object.

We don't know enough to say she's lying nor have enough of her trust for her to admit it of her own volition.
That's literally the point of the lie detector. It's a way to make sure, since we don't necessarily trust her yet. It's not like it's offensive to ask--this is far too serious of a situation to not be sure, and if she's been telling the truth then it will improve her standing with us.

The range extension doesn't strike me as well suited to here and now. Better something to suggest after we leave for the next phase.
That's why it was just a proposal. It's checking with Mami to see if she thinks she could spread ribbons across the entire city, not conducting the plan right now.

(argument fodder, just can't see good things coming of it) Especially when it comes to bringing in metaknowledge to do so as Sabrina does skulduggery like a angry drunken moose does stealth, straight lines, and low collateral damage.
IIRC, I tried to word it to imply that she doesn't have the full picture, not that everything is a lie.

There's something I really want to get done very soon (which is why I'm voting for it specifically, rather than leave it to chance if it comes up during 'theraphy').

"Uh huh? What was she doing, with the raid on the lab?" you say, making a 'go on' gesture at her. "Hello? Miss Yuuri? I'm someone who wants to help."

"I wanted to- to do something," Hijri says, scowling over your shoulder. "It was her idea. She was looking for something. She didn't tell me what, but I took the opportunity."
Hijiri's left us open an opportunity to talk about her actions, the emotions behind them, the rationality of them... which we need to do, as she seems to be in some amount of denial.

First saying we should let her go earlier, scratch that, first using circular logic to justify why we went and captured her, then demanding to be let go after her attack on Niko, then her continued refusal to acknowledge responsibility for her actions.

As someone put it at some point, both Niko and Hijiri are girls who think rationally, whereas Hijiri right now? She would likely want to slap anyone she saw commiting the same amount of... rational failures she's making.

Talking about her actions, making her acknowledge responsibility for her actions (hey, didn't she want to make her own choices?! :eyeroll: )... that's the 'theraphy' I want to see happen.

EDIT: BTW,

I wonder if we could say something like "Fine. You want a fight? I'll be waiting for you at X. Take your best shot." and get her that way. I doubt that she's that pissed, but...

Not currently. Proposed trying something like that to search for Kuroki. It would require a fair bit of science to figure out if their were any mundane signals that accompany telepathy, and anything magic that we make will have a limited range. Now that we know that Mami's ribbons can extend our range, we might be able to make a telepathy detector and have her move it along to follow the signal until we get in range of Yuuri.

I proposed pissing her off royally (something stupidly drastic and probably too cruel, like telling her it was her fault Yuuri died) just for that purpose, but I don't think we're moving in that direction. :V

Airi should be smarter and more cautious than that, as shown by her refusal to talk with us, and all her plots and preparations she used in PMKM.

Tell Hijiri that Anri just privately sold her out as the mastermind all along. Tell Anri we know she's the mastermind even though Hijiri doesn't realise it. Cooperation doesn't necessitate dominance. Worst comes to worst, we really do have two irreconcilable belligerents and one is already in custody. Also a moron.

Hopefully there isn't a third/fourth; we really don't need Soujuu bullshit right now. (We're still going to have to figure out what precisely to do with them.)
