Yes, but Sabrina can't kiss Sabrina, so the current vote isn't helpful to PMAS
Technically we could, in a number of ways, from creating a chibi to simply kissing the back of our hand. (Not to mention the more gruesome possibilities!)

  • [X] Check Hijiri's Witch name when possible.
[X] Group telepathy: Yuuri might be behind this. Search must go on.
    [X] Be empathetic Sabrina.
[X] We can't let her go until this is solved.
-[X] Apologize for that, and for scaring her. We're not after her, but after whomever attacked our friends. If she's saying the truth, that somebody is Yuuri.
    -[X] Reassure her.
[X] Hijiri is not an experiment.
-[X] Explain how Niko cares for Hijiri in her own way; what she wanted for her, and how hurt she is right now.
-[X] Ask Hijiri to talk with Niko; offer your support.
[X] After this is over, we'd love to help her achieve that 'peaceful life'. It's why we made our Wish.
[X] Once the Pleiades arrive, be ready to step in if necessary. Keep things calm.
[X] Group telepathy: Yuuri might be behind this. Niko and Kazumi should be here, but everyone else keep looking.
    [X] Be empathetic Sabrina.
[x] Information for Hijiri, empathybrina style:
-[x] You Wished for powers that would help all magical girls live peaceful lives.
-[x] You're not after her. You don't experiment on people. That's on the "don't make me come over there" list.
-[x] Reassure her about Niko's intentions; they really need to talk. Hijiri becoming meguca hurt Niko badly.
[x] When Niko and Kazumi get here:
-[x] Keep Kazumi from killing Hijiri.
    -[x] Recap.
--[x] Privately express small doubts about truthfulness.
    -[x] Suggest:
--[x] Short term: Guard, talk, subtly gather more information. Niko needs to be involved. Oriko, Kirika, Niko + 1 other Pleiades?
--[x] Long term: House arrest, video games, therapy, and a strict no-drama policy. Proven strategy.
    -[x] Argue against: Retribution.
    [x] Standing votes:
-[x] At first opportunity: Check Hijiri's witch name.
[X] Inform the Pleiades that Yuuri was also involved, using Hijiri as a puppet, and suggest resuming the search. Hopefully this will allow us to conduct the interview with just the present crew.
[X] Tell Hijiri that we went after her because she helped attack them and steal things, and then attacked us. Self-fulfilling prophecy. Yuuri manipulated her. We want to stop her from messing with others.
[X] Reassure Hijiri that no-one thinks less of her for being created by a wish, certainly not us, since we were very likely created by a wish.
[X] Telepathically bring up Sayaka's parents to Sayaka. You're going to be searching for a while yet, which means she needs an explanation for how/why she vanished out of bed.
-[X] Unless she thinks she can get a clone back into bed using her copied MOF, anyway.
[X] Group telepathy: Yuuri might be behind this. Niko and Kazumi should be here, but everyone else keep looking.

Something that's been bugging me....

"I can't," Hijiri says, expression twisting. "I don't know how. I only had enough time to figure out how to make it work."
Something flashes over Hijiri's face. "It's the only thing protecting me right now," she says.
Her excuse for keeping up the memory field changes here. First she claims to not know how to turn it off, but then when we suggest that she just throw it away, she instead claims that she needs it to "protect" her. But protect her from what? It made sense to use it to hide, but now that she's caught, what's the point? If she's afraid of Niko, then what good is it? We've already told Niko where she is, so Niko can find her whether she has the field or not. So what's she actually afraid of?

I'm getting a really sketchy feeling from Hijiri's responses so far. Something's not kosher here.

I think that that's enough evidence to convince me that we should be more actively trying to pick her story apart. I don't think that we want to let her know that we're on to her, both for information-warfare purpose and in case she's legit and just scared out of her mind.

What can we ask about that'd give us more information? Ask her to put us in telepathic contact with Yuuri, get independent stories and cross-reference them? Ask her for more details about Yuuri and see if we can find anything there? Ask her what her powers are, like we don't already know, and subtly lead the conversation to the relationship between powersets and wishes?

I'm not sure how much time we've got before the Pleiades get here, and afterwards, there's gonna be some drama.

... Drama which might put Hijiri off balance.

If we ask questions then, it'll probably be harder for her to hide anything.

So... Mmm... I haven't got far enough into my PMKM re-read, so what was Hijiri's Wish, specifically? 'Connect' with the Pleiades, yadda yadday, what does that mean? What's the intent?

Since she's got their powers...

"She told me to," Hijiri blurts. "I- I just wanted to run, to get away. She found me, told me you'd hunt me down. Told me I was some kind of... experiment."

"Who?" you ask, stomach going abruptly into freefall. You feel like you know the answer already.

"Yuuri," Hijiri says. "That's- that's what she said her name was."

"Who-" Saki's eyebrows all but meet in the center of her forehead as she realises. "Yuuri."

"That's her!" Hijiri says, suddenly eager to please. "She- we broke into her lab, and she let me have the memory device when I figured out what it was."
A possibility is that Hijiri's been using Yuuri; Yuuri broke into the lab, they didn't go in together.

Hijiri's claiming Yuuri was the one behind everything while Hijiri was using Yuuri instead.

Yuuri stole the Memory Device for Hijiri, and also likely took the Clear Seed without telling Hijiri about it. Hijiri doesn't know what a Clear Seed is.

(Hijiri stalling for time after we revealed the existence of the 'Clear Seed':)
"Why don't you use the Clear Seed?" you ask.

"I- Throw me a Grief Seed," she insists. "I'll tell you after."
Now that we brought up Clear Seed theft, Hijiri pins it on Yuuri, then furthermore claims Yuuri is still dangerous, as to make us focus on Yuuri instead of her:
"She took it. The special Grief Seed," Hijiri says. "It- I don't think it was what she was looking for, but she took it."

"What was she looking for?" Saki asks. There's fury on her face, lines slowly etching into deep anger.

"I don't know," Hijiri responds. "She didn't tell me. I... I don't think she found it, whatever she was looking for."

Meanwhile... if Yuuri is Hijiri's pawn, then the one who was trailing Niko yesterday was Hijiri.

Can we leverage this somehow...?

Well, actually, since she's throwing Yuuri under the bus, if we ask details about Yuuri, she will have to answer quite a bit, at least. We can ask how did they knock out Niko, for one.

About asking her to put us in contact with Yuuri, we can abuse multitasking to try and talk with both of them at once, so they can't get their stories straight.

Oh that's clever. I didn't think about having Hijiri contact Yuuri. We should do this.
And now that she's pinned it on Yuuri she can't turn us down.

Hmm. Slight issue, now that I'm seriously thinking about it - if Hijiri is the mastermind, her own telepathy still works and she's probably coaching Yuuri's responses right now. I figure... let Hijiri stay stressed out by conversation with Kazumi and Niko, we use multitasking to keep Yuuri too distracted to listen to Hijiri? Oh, and tell Yuuri things that'll throw Hijiri off when they're relayed to her by Yuuri, giving us observable evidence of collusion. I'm also tempted to ask Kazumi or Sayaka to slap Hijiri in a privacy bubble, though I think that that'd let her know that we're on to her.

How about... since we know one of them was trailing Niko, we ask them separately who was doing so, at the same time? If they're working together, and throw each other under the bus...

IIRC, it was something like to be able to connect to others without them knowing, and burn their deaths into her eyes.

Except she's throwing Yuuri under the bus, which won't exactly encourage Yuuri to play along. You can still do Prisoner's Dilemma when the prisoner's can communicate, if they don't much trust each other.

Any failure modes there? If Yuuri admits it we don't gain anything, though that also provides an avenue of questioning that leads into "who came up with the idea". If Hijiri admits it then... why would she have done that if she was trying to live a peaceful life?

Or, you know, Yuuri could just refuse to answer our questions, that's also a possibility. :V

Though that doesn't stop us from telling her that Hijiri told us she's the mastermind. Hmm. If she's really that dedicated to fucking with the Pleiades, I can see her claiming that she was the one in charge to give Hijiri an chance to get close to us? Those two actively working together to cause trouble is a really ugly thought.

edit: Yeah, we're thinking the same kind of thing - the prisoner's dilemma fails when the prisoners are allowed to and motivated to collude, which I think is a possibility here.

Alright, a rewrite then? Karne is tossing his definitely-not-pyrite crown back into the ring...

[X] Telepathy
-[X] We need Kazumi and Niko at our position, but everyone else needs to remain on high alert; Yuuri is active and Hijiri is throwing her under the bus, which may or may not be the truth.

[X] While waiting for Kazumi and Niko to arrive
-[X] Empathetic Sabrina is Empathetic
-[X] e never meant to scare her, and Niko never meant for her to feel like an experiment

[X] Once Kazusa and Niko arrive:
-[X] Take them aside and very quietly explain to them what Hijiri said and how you don't really trust her
-[X] Even so, keep Kazumi or Niko from hurting Hijiri.
-[X] Group interrogation.
-[X] Dig into Hijiri's story like you're buying it, but keep an eye open for any holes in it.
-[X] Don't let Hijiri know you don't trust her implicitly.
-[X] Can she put us in contact with Yuuri?

I call it: Plan "Karne never receives votes"! :V

I say Brinapilot can handle talking Hijiri into a corner better than we can. We should just tell her to please try that - maybe coordinate with Mumi? Mumi is our Social expert after all...

Right, the problem is that they can be talking right now.

A Privacy Sphere would cut them off telepathy, but it's hard to justify without revealing our suspicions. Let's say we ask for a Privacy Sphere for the purposes of letting Niko and Hijiri talk privately.

Legitimate, but it would either cut us off the conversation... in which case Kazumi/Niko might blow up at Hijiri, or we'd have to butt our way in... in which case the conversation is no longer private, so why Privacy Sphere?

We're the only one other than Niko who knows the circumstances of her wish, so we could have that excuse to be there. Anyway, there's no way we're leaving someone and their evil twin alone together where nobody can see them, that's just a recipe for shenanigans.

Two Nikos enter.

Two Kazumis leave.

Right, I mentioned that yesterday, but I guess it kind of got lost in the noise. Also, still want to know what was up with the part where Hijiri says Yuuri's name and Saki is apparently confused. (Is this memory device really working the way we think?)

You know, the phrase 'experimental memory field' doesn't exactly inspire confidence in itself. Maybe we should just, like - laser it into inoperability, on the offchance that it's progressively screwing with her head?
E: After a warning, obviously :V
