I don't mind. Uncontrollable, sporadic visions and/or visions that are made in reaction to something happening - is even better. More believable from outside POV - because blanket "I know everything that will happen" is a big one to swallow.

Not to mention that we actually have colloborating 'precedent' in Sayaka - she was 'saved' from a Witch's Kiss by a precog vision.
Being non-specific is one thing. Actively lying to our allies strikes me as a bad idea.

Voting for old version. New version strikes me too much of misleading and deceiving our allies through misdirection even if we don't explicitly lie. (much too kyuubey ish for my comfort.)

On Oriko's power loss reveal. We should leave it to Oriko if she wants to explain, hide, or just not talk about it.

That's what I'm voting for, yes? Respect her privacy. If she doesn't want to talk about it we can let them assume that her visions are uncontrollable or unreliable. There's no need to lie.

And, if Oriko doesn't want to talk about it, it gives us another cover for our metaknowledge.

There's no guarantee of them assuming that.

Really, given that we brought Oriko along, unless explicitly stated otherwise the Saints have excellent reason to assume her visions are reliable. Or, reliable enough to bring into their situation.

After all, bringing an enemy prisoner with an inapplicable or barely applicable powerset is, on the face of it, absurd. When you add in the fact that we're doing this because she needs to get out more, it outright enters "You can't make this stuff up" territory.

I would far more expect someone looking in from a vacuum to assume that we're bringing Oriko because of her powerset and in spite of her enmity with us, and thus to rely on her precognition instead of doubting it.

Still, Matou Sutegobana makes a good point re: asking her > blurting it out.

Seems reasonable and gives our pilot enough telemetry to hopefully stick the metaphorical landing without us micromanaging everything.

I'm not sure that respecting Niko's privacy is a valid option here, given that it has resulted in the theft of a Clear Seed and an attack on the Saints themselves, as a whole.

We can give the bare details about Hijiri for now.

We totally need to have a private conversation with Niko about Hijiri anyway, so we can ask her to come clean then?

You Pushed the Yandere Button. You Shouldn't'a Done That

"So, who's next on our suspect list?" Kirika asked, idly examining her claws.

"A girl named Kagari Hinata," Sabrina said, her expression darkening. "Her power is to manipulate memories."

Kirika was more observant than most people gave her credit for. She definitely noticed Sabrina's change in demeanor, and she knew how unusual it was, too. "Okay, and what's so bad about her?"

"She's sadistic, and she uses her powers to fuck with people for her own amusement."

"So she needs to go down. Got it."

Sabrina turned to her, and Kirika was surprised to see actual alarm in her features. "You don't get it, Kirika. Her powers are--you're the only one whose powers might be able to stop hers. She can make you forget--about anything. She could make you forget your love for Oriko, or manipulate your memories so that you hate her instead."

Kirika went very, very still. For a moment, she was silent. Then...

"She dies."

Don't forget "witch out for superpowers" and "vacuum metastability event".
Those are in a special box marked 'DO NOT USE UNLESS UNIVERSE IS LITERALLY ABOUT TO END'. There is a reason that our Witch form is classed as an Ontological Threat. I'm genuinely curious if Dolo!Sabrina wouldn't just end the universe by reversing whatever bullshit the Incubators perform to stop entropy.

I can just picture it, a grief singularity hanging over the Incubator homeworld, scouring the planet of life with impossible radiations as the universe is unravelled into a cold soup of sub-atomic particles before their very eyes. Living just long enough before the insane sentient planet/hyper-Mind of grief (possibly taking the shape of an infinite number of chickens coming hme to roost) ends the universe to know that they could have prevented all of this, if only they had a slightly more healthy attitude towards their own mortality.

What happens after that, well, it depends if Mami was killed by Incubator shennanigans or not. If not, the universe is unmade, and we continue to float in the endless void, simulating all our friends and happy memories in our mind until they lose all meaning. If so, well, I'm sure that forcibly uploading the entire Incubator population into a grief-based supercomputer and spending the rest of forever torturing them in whatever horrible fashions our shattered mind can devise will keep us busy for a while.

Actually, there might be an infinitesimal chance that we retain some measure of humanity as Dedolere, whether it be through grief hax, our love for Mami, or sheer force of will. I wouldn't bet on it, however. It'd be a miracle if we can even manage to remember what we were trying to accomplish by witching out in the first place.

By the way, what would we be trying to accomplish by witching out? The only situations I can think of are suicide attack against the Incubators, to hold off another Ontological Threat (Kriemhild, an irrevocably hostile Homucifer, Pinky, etc), or if someone's stupid enough to try to kill Mami.

So I cleaned up some garbage I posted on the Discord a while back. Inspired by the various Homucifer omakes posted waaaay back on page 666.

Disillusion

Something (everything) was broken. This was the new truth of the world - a paradox, a contradiction, with all of reality caught inside. And yet, within broken logic there was imposed order. Her order. Nothing could occur that she did not permit... but a broken mind has broken rules. A crack, somewhere, a moment of discontinuity, somewhen, and -

the play
is not
yet done

She hadn't been there, when things had started. She'd gotten the story from Miki, though. A girl, slumped in an alleyway, slowly dying. She was there now.

This wasn't that alleyway, it couldn't be, that alleyway didn't exist in this world, (she'd removed it) but it looked just like she had imagined that scene. Just like she had imagined it. A blustery gale set detritus swirling, the adjacent buildings sent out swooping shadows. But was it the same girl? Could it be the same girl? (She'd rejected her invitation, before.) Pale white hair, a blue coat (not her magical girl outfit, she didn't have a soul gem) somehow looking self-assured even as she died.

Now was the start, again.

The demon (the girl, she was the demon) stepped in front of her, her heels clacking against the cobblestone, and the girl opened her eyes. "Huh." She coughed, once, and the hand she'd brought up to her mouth came away stained in red. She didn't seem to mind. "Sorry to interrupt."

"You... you can't be here. I tried to bring you, and you wouldn't- how did you-" The mind spun, and with it, so too did the sky above.

Sabrina's hand spasmed into a grip on her ankle. "Homura!" Despite the quiet strain in the call, it carried admonishment. The sky stilled. "I'm dying. Fix-" Another coughing fit, and now the cobblestones were caked in blood and phlegm. Undaunted, she bored her gaze into the standing girl. "Fix it."

The demon clapped
its
hands.

It was earlier that day in a Mitakihara cafe. A pair of curled blonde rings bounced their way past the window, behind which a black and white pair could be seen, sitting, as they indulged in pastries.

"Hmm. I would be willing to show you around town, but unfortunately I have other time commitments. Perhaps if I introduced you to Tomoe Mami, she could give you a tour? You'd get along very well."

Sabrina sipped at her tea, enjoying it, before setting down the cup. "That's a very kind offer, Homura. But I'd like to apologize first."

The girl with black hair (the demon, it was the girl) raised an eyebrow. "Whatever for, Vee?"

Sabrina folded her hands (her unadorned, plain hands) and sighed. "For not being able to fix things, of course." She stared at the devil, unafraid. "For failing you."

The first two (well one and 2/3rds, if CASE NIGHTMARE PINK ever comes about, we're probably just a footnote from several thousand loops ago) I'll grant, but Witching to save Mami might actually be crueller than having her die.

I don't particularly want to think of the consequences of a Witch being in love with a magical girl, or Mami ending up alone again, but I'm presuming that BAD END is probably putting it lightly.. That's why I assume that Mami is dead in any reality in which we hit the Apotheosis button. None of the alternatives make for particularly pleasant consideration.

I was thinking in terms of grief spiral, actually. If Mami bites it, we (the voters) may not have a choice in letting Dedolere off her leash.

I don't know how co-dependant we are, exactly, but we'd be taking a major grief hit at the very least if Mami dies.

Firnagzen has confirmed that witching out is, in fact, a Bad End for the quest. Potentially we might be able to possibly obtain some sort of control over Dedolere with Magia Record doppel bullshit and/or sufficient soul magic research with Riona, but just our innate wish is confirmed not to be enough to let us stay sane as a witch.

ALSO:

If any of you assholes actually votes to let Sabrina witch (and with our power, it very much is "let Sabrina witch") and destroy the universe just because our waifu died, I'll be forced to assume that you all have the self-control of shitty anime villains. "The world took my beloved so I'mma kill errybody" is not okay.
