I'm not sure about this, though:

[] Suggest domestic enchanting as a possibility for the future. Bed enchantment? Oven? ... Food? Cooking with magic? What would that even...?

It's not like we're lacking money. :p

Maybe we should talk about the very real issue that there's gonna be a lot of meguca arriving soon, and things would be smoother if we had a place to house them.

Use some warehouses? Tell adults about magic, give them Yakuza money (get more if needed) and have them help make arrangements to house meguca?

I mean, many meguca will likely come, take the Clear Seed, and leave. But I expect others would prefer to stay close to the source of cleansing.
This is a good point, and we should consider it. If we don't bring it up now, we should do so soon.
Lots of options in that regard: re-enrolling in school, anti-Witch patrols, teamwork training exercises, our various ideas for how magic can be used to finance our operations....
How? (Re-enrolling in school, I mean.)

Like, how would that even work? Most of them probably wouldn't even speak Japanese. I imagine at least some of them are legally considered dead (or at least missing persons). None of them would have viable legal guardians. Or official residences.

As for how magic can be used to finance operations--most meguca have powers suited for fighting and little else. The major exceptions I can think of are teleporters and healers, and good luck making paid healers work without breaking the masquerade. As sad as it is to say, it would probably be far easier for a meguca with technopath powers to electronically steal lots of money (relatively speaking) from big corporations. Not enough to hurt their bottom line, but enough to afford basic necessities for megucas who lack families to financially support them.

Schooling is important and would help a lot (give more megucas access to jobs down the line), but taking classes online is probably the most practical method available to meguca immigrants who don't speak Japanese.

I also want to add that Mami IS friends with Homura, Madoka, Sayaka, and to a lesser extent Hitomi. They would all talk to her if she asked.

Clearly we should start a magical girl school.
uh why shouldn't we start a magical girl school (after wally of course)?

Well, being a teacher is a huge responsibility, and who knows what the future is going to be like. I do know that it won't be us, mostly because we're human, and we're in a world where things are changing without warning all the time.

One day we shall make awesome witch familiars and all will tremble. But, perhaps not this day.

I think I'm already on the record that we should create magical girl bakery franchises across multiple cities.

Although that record may be in the Mumi thread, now that I think about it.

One day, this quest will end and we will be able to look back and reflect on the impact of our descions. Be it how we could reach a better good end, or how we could've avoided the tragedy that ended our quest.

But for now, let's stick to the present and near future, as it's the most important time at the moment.

Something important to find out: Do Meguca need to eat? I know we like to, but can we get by on magic alone if need be?

This could be very important for determining how Meguca could impact and interact with traditional economics.

Yes, Maguca can keep going on magic alone, it's why kyubey bothered placing the soul's inside gems after all(instead of using the human body as the container for it).
Most of them don't know this, and those that do wouldn't probably want to eat something in order to feel human.

But, the real answer to this lies with our QM, not us, and his word is final(unless he specifically states otherwise).

I'd assume that they can survive without eating, because the minor passive magical healing that they all get counteracts the malnutrition (at an obvious cost of increased passive grief production).

Magic can replace all the blood for a meguca's with magic. simple things like nutrients and liquids are not harder then blood.
I think they would prefer to eat though, because it's a human response, and Magical Girls are still human in nature, even with their differences.(This is partially based on my own options, because I would eat, even if it wasn't necessary for survival.)

Making a small addition and what I think is an important rearrangement of Redshirt's vote.

-[X] If no earth-shaking discoveries, practice enchantment, especially naturally intuitive "wish magic" enchantment.
[X] Telepathy Kyouko, confirm that training is happening, arrange to meet her in the morning in person to discuss payment/scheduling/whatever.
[X] Discuss how Mami wants to handle an influx of girls, now that Nadia is spreading the news. You were thinking of using the warehouse hideout Oriko furnished as housing for the Shiogama refugees, for example.

Simply putting info that could affect future plans, before taking action. I don't want to have to replan the meeting with Kyouko if it turns out the flight to and from Asunaro will go long and I don't want to risk sticking the Shiogama girls too long in a warehouse that could get torn down or revamped by a local politician's revitalization project for the city. (Sure if it starts after the month is up, Walpugisnacht will have torn through and we'll be rebuilding the city anyways, but if it starts before May we have a problem to contend with.)

(Rokuro Himura's plan for the Mitakihara industrial revitalization has no detail to it but it's referenced in the news in the last post of Interloper, if you want to look it up)

Plus there's something just plain nice about doing our homework while Mami does hers.

I guess that was kind of obvious, huh?

Reason it matters is because, if all they need to live is Magic, then that eliminates much of their dependency on mundane civilization, which changes the power dynamic substantially.

Whether that's good or bad is something that people would probably argue over, but it does tip the scales in the favor of Puella Magi.

It also greatly reduces the value of a mundane education (in terms of career opportunities).

Ah, the complexities of dealing with the pseudo-liches that are Puella Magi is almost never an uninteresting affair.

Not all options are going to be suitable for all meguca, but at least one group that Nadia was going to reach out to was here in Japan. Once we find them a place to live, they will have an address. (And I assume that P.O. Boxes are still a thing.) And the absence of a legal guardian hasn't kept Mami or Homura out of school.

As for how magic can be used to finance operations--most meguca have powers suited for fighting and little else.
There are magical girls with the ability to transmute elements and/or create matter ex nihilo. That, plus a few forged documents, opens up a world of options for creating a visible and seemingly-legitimate source of wealth.

There will probably be some meguca who are only be suitable for combat. We can offer those a place on the security detail: patrolling for witches, dismantling organized crime and protecting against rogue or hostile MGs.

Regarding meguca physiology: Every source indicates that, as magical girls are de facto undead creatures, receiving their motive force from their Soul Gem, taking care of their bodies (external hardware) is essentially optional. Homura has very apparently gone without eating/drinking/sleeping in anywhere near sufficient amounts/at all in the past.

Even the body as a unit is optional, technically speaking: Oriko survived (briefly) getting torn to shreds (and decapitated) by a machine gun, and Mami could have survived being モグモグ'd had her soul gem been literally anywhere else besides her head. Had either been lichbombed and not immediately panicked/despaired, they could have continued fighting: given the relative population of magical girls, globally, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a dullahan meguca out there, and we've speculated it'd be possible for one to go full demilich and project magical/sensory influence directly from nothing but the soul gem itself (which would make her immune to rocking, having moved the seat of consciousness entirely out of the brain, but would probably be prohibitively expensive).

Only two things are really important: Magic reserves and state of mind. State of mind is actually the more important of these two: Being a 'soulless' monster is Kind Of A Big Deal in Japanese culture, and leaning on a magical girl's undead nature tends to be rather dehumanizing (c.f. Sayaka). The Pleiades refuse to use pain blocking techniques solely because pain helps keep them anchored to their humanity.
