Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Oh God no. Jim Carrey would be a truly terrible choice for Reed Richards.

We still need someone who can bring some warmth and humanity to Mister Fantastic. Who hasn't had a good history when it comes to being written well. Plus casting someone like Carrey would be just what we need to bring some of the Silver Age spirit of the classic comics to life.

How about Jim Carrey as Mole Man instead?

If we want Jim Carrey in the Marvel universe we could bring Slapstick in early and change his origin a bit and basically do The Mask movie.

Just a suggestion from someone who doesn't know much about some Marvel properties.

How about The Wizard? He is quite arrogant and would fit somewhat with Carrey's take on Robotnik

In any case, the point still stands. The Dark Knight is our last DC project. We should start casting for Marvel movies as soon as possible.

Honestly? I could see Jim bringing the same kind of energy to Iron Man that RDJ brought. Or maybe we could turn a pre-existing character into a proto-Deadpool for him.

Goose Pursuit

For Jaime Lee Evans, she was in a bit of a weird place in her work. On the one hand, she had a secured position of leadership in a very male dominated field and almost no one gave her crap for it and she worked in a very positive work culture. Gwen was working in a very new field, which meant she could have an impact and leave a great mark on the industry moving forward. Best of all, she was entrusted with designing a Sega Arcade game, one which would be in the spotlight of its soon to emerge Arcade Saloons and would be played by millions the world over.

Yet it was here that she hit a snag for her grand debut was a failure.

Well, not quite a failure. It was profitable by all means and when the sales were compared it was in the upper range of historical arcade sales. However, her great game Nidhogg, her tribute to Nordic mythology and a love for the concept of fighting, to really take video games to its most fun potential was met with broad negative appeal. It was not the worst video game, nowhere near close to abominations such as Superman. But there was a great deal of backlash and frustration from Arcade goers who couldn't master the mechanics, didn't like the goals, or most especially were frustrated with the titular Nidhogg.

This had put Jaime in a bit of a dour mood where when so many new Sega Aracde machins and Genesis games were met with praise, that hers seemed to be targeted for scorn. The office was still warm and many tried to cheer Jaime up or look at the positives, but she could tell there was an air of hesitation to let her take the reigns again even if they liked her as a coworker.

If there was one bright side for Jaime, it was that her boss' daughter absolutely adored her game. One day, Bruce O'Brian had taken his daughter Mary into the LucasArt's offices. Mary O'Brian had been quite the fan of her work, outright squealing in joy when she had entered her office and seen all the concept art for Nidhogg. It was quite a surprise to be fielded so many intelligent and deep questions of software engineering from a six year old and Mary had even beaten her at Nidhogg when they played on the office machine.

It was nice to see a true fan of Nidhogg and to watch as someone's eyes lit up with joy at playing your creation. Watching Mary had given Jaime the courage to head out to the Sega Saloons and see just how the game was being received. While admittedly Nidhogg wasn't a favorite, every now and then there were kids rushing to slot their quarters and having a genuine blast dueling it out, even a few new fans.

Knowing her work was appreciated beyond her family filled Jaime with new confidence, and Mary's fangirlism had an unintended side effect of writing her a comfortable check of soft power as she was now held in high esteem for Bruce and as the favorite director of his genius daughter (Well second favorite to Sakaguchi and Dawson), Jaime was now being trusted with another project to her favor. It was a second chance, and one she intended not to waste.

For a while Jaime was in a stump, but life provided inspiration for a Genesis title. Watching the Los Angeles Fighting Geese, seeing the Battle of Endor in theater, watching Geese migrations, playing Mario, and spending time with her daughter Gwen.
Finally just got around to reading this and... um, it's nothing like Jaime? To be fair, that's almost certainly 100% my fault for greenlighting you using her for the pitch without at least telling you a bit more about her. I really should stop being stingy about info I intend to use in omakes. For one, Jaime is in her mid 20s and she's not a mom. She's a "team mom" or the "mom friend," but that's due to her calm, patient, nurturing, and mediating personality, not actually having kids. She's also gay, which led her to be disowned by her parents when they found out and kicked her out of the house, leaving her homeless and living out of her car, which led to her trying to get a job at LucasArts since she desperately needed the pay. Nidhogg isn't a game that she particularly cared about, in large part since she only made the game to get her foot in the door, having it prepared to present during her job interview but some of the other employees ended up coaxing her into letting them try it out and they wouldn't stop playing, which led to her being late to her interview but it was good enough of an endorsement that they hired her, but also because she has a more mercenary attitude when it comes making video games, in it more for the pay and because it's what she's good at rather than necessarily a love for the art, since I wanted to contrast her with all the more "dreamer"-type characters working at Lucasfilm and it's associated companies. It's not ultimately a super big deal since it can be cleared up with her origin omake once I finish it, but I just thought I should make mention. I'm also currently working on a short omake(about the length of this) to introduce another video game pitch with her, so that should help as well.

Hey, not to be that guy, but considering that we already have an idea of her personality (if not the one you wanted for her) then shouldn't we just leave it as it is? Changing it at this point just seems like closing the door after the horse has escaped, and it would cause more confusion than anything else.

Furthermore, I wrote a bit about her as well for the Arcade Sidestory, and I barely knew half of what you mentioned here. I could even say I was not aware of nearly anything besides her being a "Team Mom" kind of woman. Next time, with one of your characters, we can try to work a bit closer to home if we can get a bit more information about it.

Eh, I don't really mind. It is Zade's OC at the end of the day and if I have to confess something, the narrative was never a crucial part of the post, I just wanted to fill things out and add some depth so Magoose would grant a heavier bonus, lol. I can erase the character thing entirely and it's fine by me because the point was just to create a fun platformer with an animal mascot, that was it. I'd rather respect Zade's wishes and keep this in mind going forward, and I don't even mind switching Directors.

Sorry about the mixup, I guess I just assumed Jaime was like Mavis, especially with the Team Mom title you gave her. I'll remove that part out later.

I don't really think so? It was one short 600 word omake used more for a pitch whereas I have at least 3 omakes(her origin omake and two short pitch omakes) for her. If I adhere to the characterization established here by Kaiser Chris, then that means I have to adjust all my WIP omakes for her and frankly? I've been rolling over too often for y'all when it comes to that kinda stuff. There's also the fact that characterizing her in the way that KC has done means that she starts overlapping with Mavis, which I don't want to happen with her. Besides, it's a similar enough situation to what happened with Mavis. Mavis at the beginning was a way different character than she is now, but it was through adding or reduxing details and building on top of it that she's begun coming into her own as a character. Also, I hate to be like this, but... she is my character. I'd like for her to be characterized as I intended if possible. I put the time and effort into trying to plan out and write up an interesting story for her and it can be somewhat upsetting to have it be casually disregarded, especially since I'm not as fast of a writer as you or Kaiser.

Apologies if I'm a bit rambly or all over the place or if I sound like I'm in a mood. I've had a really bad headache all day and it hasn't let up at all.
Furthermore, I wrote a bit about her as well for the Arcade Sidestory, and I barely knew half of what you mentioned here. I know, that's why I said I need to stop being stingy about sharing details I intend for my omakes, and it's why I said that it was ultimately my fault. I'm not blaming Kaiser for not knowing or for getting it wrong, just informing.

I didn't say anything about her in the Arcade Sidestory because I don't recall taking issue with anything you said in it.
Sorry about the mixup, I guess I just assumed Jaime was like Mavis, especially with the Team Mom title you gave her. I'll remove that part out later.
I want to be clear, you don't have to do that at all. I'm just making it known just in case you, or anyone else, intended to use her again in the future. I actually do like when you guys add new details cause I like seeing what I can do with it, as well as seeing the stuff I create be utilized beyond just me. A lot of stuff you guys have come up with I've ended up using for my OC's that I had never originally intended but I ended up really liking, I'd just prefer if it was done building upon the foundations I laid. It's perfectly fine to leave it as is and I can just massage the info in this omake to fit what I intended, like instead of Gwen being her daughter, she can be her girlfriend, etc.

[X] Plan Batman 1984
-[X]The Joker: Who will be your Joker? Everyone else has come back, or rather, will come back, given the contracts they have. But you want to make sure the clown prince of Crime gets his moment, even if he will not be the focus of the film.
--[X] Robin Williams
-[X]Detective on Set: So you have a vision of an investigation, and you will make a note of it. DC: 30
-[X]Robin and Batgirl: So Jodie and Tom… they have not kept up on their fitness regimen, and that is going to be a problem, given the very clear physical demands the role is going to require of them. You need to help them along with it. DC 35
-[X]Preparing for the Fights: You have planned three different fight scenes, a beginning, a middle, and final battle. You think it would be best to get everyone involved. DC: 30
-[X]Where to Go from Here: You fought a hundred men all at once and made one of the greatest car scenes ever. How the fuck are you going to top your best?
--[X]You've gotten plenty of moments to shine, try to write something cool for Robin and Batgirl to accomplish to show their strengths as heroes.
-[X]Metal Gear: THis was the game that Hideo Kojima said would change action games. He wanted it to be given the greatest thing of all time. A Bruce O'Brian play through opening night when it was released. DC: 30
-[X]The Lucasarts Projects: So time to give those Lucasarts people more projects, now that they are swimming in money.
--[X] Mega Man, Wacky Races, Brawl Brothers
-[X]Gamera: Guardian of the Universe: It was time for the Project, dubbed, by the internal Mike Eisner Team that was working with it, as Monster Hunter. It was going to be the film that broke Godzillas monopoly. DC: 30
-[X]Across America in 90 Days: This film was a weird one, but it was funny, the script that is. You just hoped it was as funny as others. DC: 35
-[X]Investing in the Future: You want to Spend some of that money you made into the company and make the whole thing better DC: ??? (Linetail what you want to invest in, and how much money you want to invest in it)
--[X] Reach out to Toei Company and work up a deal to handle merchandising for their Super Sentai series through Sunset Toys. Also pay $50 million for adaptational rights to Super Sentai.
-[X]Importing Foreign Films: So… you may have a way to get some films showing in American Theaters. Maybe you can go to other foreign film industries and… well, ask to distribute their films. Sure many of those foreign film companies never expected an American company to distribute their films in the US… but maybe you can get money without producing them. (Linetail where you try to get films from, and if there are any specific films, line tail them below) DC: ???
--[X] United Kingdom, Virgin Films. There's an adaptation of 1984 that will be released in the fall and frustratingly it seems that the producers have completely neglected an American release. Negotiate for Lucasfilms to handle North American distribution, and Japan through Sunrise.
-[X]Mary is Having a Problem: Mary has a problem. "Daddy, I have a friend who is sad, and i don't know how to help her?" DC: ???
-[X]A Little Help from Friends: So... Steve... Uh, George. What are you guys doing, and why are you all looking at me like that? DC: 30
-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids!

So for the Joker, I think Mark Hamill can deliver a pretty great performance and this can keep him as an A-lister. Do the other Batman stuff, and as someone suggested before, since we already peaked in the last movie and have some nice moments here, why not let Batgirl and Robin shine?

Release Metal Gear and develop three of our oldest pitches with Among Us, Mega Man and Wacky Races for continued Genesis dominance.

Release Gamera and Across America to have some nice summer fun.

Help Mary, spend time with the kids and find out what George and Steve are planning.

For investments, fix a failure to acquire the full James Dean trilogy and I just realized that we could be the ones to distribute 1984 stateside and it's a nice add on to our other takes on authoritarianism. I believe that should count as part of the autopass.

Anyone have any idea of around how much it'd be to buy 2000 AD comics?

If no one else is going to I'm wanting to get a plan together for it but I have no clue on the actual price.

Ah screw it if people are already voting I'll just put it a 50 million and adjust depending on what people think. This is the same as Kaiser Chris's plan but instead of the James Dean films we buy 2000 AD comics for Marvel and the ability to make a Judge Dredd movie.

I've also edited in Willem Dafoe as the Joker instead of Mark Hamill.

[X] Plan Batman 1984
I like the plan, but can you at least put in so that we can buy some more properties? I mean, East od Eden and Giant seem to be movies from the 60's and aside from VHS sells for later, I don't see how we can use them later on.

Can we at least try to get Shoeless Joe so that we can make Field of Dreams? Or get The Eternaut or Mort Cinder?

Also, why Mark Hamill? I mean, he can be an A-Lister, but aside from the voice, i don't think he can bring the character to life like Robin Williams might be able to. I just feel we can work better with the latter rather than the former.

I'm taking a page out of @wabbitking and making my own plan based off of Kaiser Chris'. I agree with wabbitking's plan, save for using Mark Hamill instead of Robin Williams, so I'll be making that change here. You can vote however you like.

Isn't this action for the arcade? Seems like a bit of a waste for these games.
Huh, since we just had an Arcade update I thought this were to be for the Console. @Kaiser Chris, are these options for the Arcade?

These are specifically projects for the Sega Genesis. We just released Arcade games and I think at this point that Sega Saloon is at a decent point where it won't falter unless the US gets back into recession.

X] $50 million of warchest. Purchase 2000 AD Comics and it's associated characters from IPC Magazines.

So are we integrating this into Marvel? I don't think it's wise to have two comic companies, and I know people argued against for TSR and Talsorian, but Marvel is different considering there's probably some frustration we're working on Batman and Justice League and there's no Marvel movies yet.

Also on Robin as Joker, I'd be fine if it was more along the lines of the Romero Joker, but I don't think he fits the Heath Joker and itd be really mentally draining and could sabotage future work.

Wacky races doesn't specify what it's for. But is apparently for "Whatever console we come up with" So was presumably pitched before the Genesis was complete.

I think mega man's the same but since Overmind pitched it in the first place he'd know.

Among us has Arcade in the genre description so presumably it's arcade. It was also pitched by overmind.

I think the plans to put it in one of the imprint's. From my understanding 2000 AD's not really a collection of multiple comics it's an anthology comic with multiple stories in the one comic.

[X] Plan Batman and Joker

Williams desperately wanted to play the Joker irl, and here he's our friend, I advocated for him early on when talks first started, I'll advocate for him now.

For those who say he can't do it, watch One Hour Photo.

Also, as an aside, I am once again requesting the birth dates of Bruce's kids.
