Even lean period as of now leagues better than what was 100 years ago. And what was 100 years ago leagues better than what was 200 years ago. I also never said that we moving only up; things absolutely can tumble down time to time and they do.

1. Fair, though she already does a lot and probably will do more. She however still needs things like downtime. Researching some sort of portal tech (may be even via reverse engineering whatever she does to connect houses with each other?) sounds like a good investment to me.
2. Hence why Teleporting Guca SWAT Squad. Either hire a bunch of teleporters or one mass teleporter and keep them as emergency quick response team.
3. Doesnt mean we wont have to deal with outliers. If anything, it would be easier to spot them when gucas deaths would become rarity and not a norm. Though, I already theorized somewhere that with unlimited magic gucas might start striving for other forms of power like influence or money. Or just get in petty squabbles over nonsense that escalate in full blown conflicts because if you dont need to reserve magic and can tank getting your turned into fine red mist why not spar more freely? (Thats where having Teleporting Guca SWAT Squad will pay off for sure...)
Frankly, if we get into a position where Meguca can spend magic on silly squabbles I'd consider that a good thing. Because it means we've succeeded, or nearly so, and the old system is broken.

Thats absolutely a good thing! Just doesnt mean its a finish line. There's always room for improvement.

There's no safety system in existence which cannot be bypassed or sidestepped by someone who's determined enough. All you can do is rely on most people not wanting to break those systems, and making it difficult enough that most people who do won't find it worth the effort.

*Sigh*

I already use this word very loosely. If you devoting everything to helping others you just burning yourself out. Some might view it as virtue; I think people need to take a fucking break. In the terms of this work, I am looking at you, Madoka.

I would also look at Sayaka and how she's been using her power(s).

100% this. In my experience most people are apathetic. They not actively malicious but they also dont really care either way. And I cant really blame them. There are days when I wake up and I cant be bothered to feel anything; you just exhausted from the get go and just want to get through the day. Sure, if someone asks you for help, you'll do it. But if something bad happens you'll also walk right past it. Because you are not paid enough to deal with it, because you too exhausted or because what is the point, or any other number of because which you conjure on spot as justification for your inaction.

Rage. Rage is the point. Fuck the human race and its systems if I have the means to help I will help even if it costs me down the line.

Which brings us back to Clear Seed distribution conundrum where if we keeping them "in house" people would see us as some sort of tyrants and if we give them freely we actively enabling malicious megucas to do more harm than they already doing. Though I dont think its time for this discussion now; we can talk about that but its not really relevant in story right now. Though I wonder if it ever truly become relevant or it will be moved to epilogue.

You've just described two endpoints of a spectrum. We can fine tune this spectrum like an old school radio until we get the right signal.

I am looking at the world right now, at the past and how long it took for us to climb where we are and respectfully, I disagree that it wasnt a huge success on these cultures part.

And that's another thing. "Climb where we are" sounds a lot like you're describing a regular upward trajectory, which not only isn't affirmed by but directly contradicts "we're in a lean period due to the last several centuries of active global genocide."

It is in fact human nature. It just isn't the only part of it. There is an upward trajectory for the last 250 years, but even as it societally counteracts the downwards trajectory of the genocides it isn't actually stopping those acts of human annihilation which means that it is comparing apples to oranges.

Yes the Left has been winning since there has been a Left, but the victories never amount to enough for people to have long term hope and they usually don't stop the genocides and other horrors the Right has been releasing into the world at the same time.

While at least some Lazarice being Megucas would explain a lot most girls even when trained/gifted with weapons do not in fact go into street fighting to the level you are describing here.

It's not like we're insecure about our worldview. She's wrong, and that's that. No reason to debate it. Better to offer pity that she hasn't figured it out yet.

[X] I'm sorry you feel that way. The Incubators' system incentivizes us all to become predators, and you've thrived under it. That system is going away. Maybe take advantage of the time before your trial to think about who you are without it. Goodbye.

[X] Go see Anri
-[X] Empty the Clear Seed she's been using and check on her progress and her mental health.
-[X] Inform her about the team working on giving people their bodies back.
-[X] Suggest possible collaborations with other members of the de-Witching team. Possible supervised visits to the lab space.
-[X] Ask if she's heard from Hijiri, and if so, if she's doing okay out there.
-[X] Explain about Asunaro Almonds and ask if she can create them.
--[X] Note their potential value in de-Witching research and in creating a scalable Grief Seed substitute.
Maybe it's not a topic to broach but, why is Nerevar banned?

Also:

[X] "Well I suppose if you were gonna change your mindset so quick I'd have heard about you all like, having soul cramps or something. Either way, I've got other visits, so I dunno, see ya in a week or when you have something else to say? Door me." You pretend to walk into a Door Maker portal as you disassemble your grief...
-[X] If she's confused about 'soul cramps', briefly explain the concept of wish rejection, most importantly that it isn't fatal, and seems to just cause a reinterpretation of your power set.

I mainly just want to leave them with something to think about. We can get a handle on them no matter what ways their powers change, and maybe the idea of their powers not being set in stone could get them to think about if it may be good to do so, that they could have a place in the world we want to make. The only thing I think will actually move them is time, and finishing our goals (Sabrina and Seed agnostic cleansing/de-witching/supplanting the incubator system for gaining magical powers with something significantly better).

Honestly even if this all ends up going back to some sort of conflict, so long as we end the death grip of the incubators on the world, and the need for girls to battle royale to subsist, it'll be an improvement no matter what challenges come after.

Did some looking, and I'm 100% confident it has nothing to do with this thread, so we should just leave it. We're almost certainly going to see a tribunal commentary thread on it in in the coming weeks, in any case.

As for my opinion on the vote at hand, I'm completely opposed to any unnecessary posturing, because that could only possibly serve to reinforce Parró's belief that we have some sort of ulterior motive, which is completely counterproductive.

I'm also opposed to bringing up Wish Rejection for the same reason, because that's just totally off-topic? Like, as far as I can tell, the only purpose of doing that is to troll her with shit she doesn't know as a response to her know-it-all attitude. That's just totally juvenile and unnecessary; like, obviously Parró has wrongheaded beliefs, but how the hell is acting mysterious by introducing a total non-sequitur supposed to fix that? People usually have a reason when they say something, so if we bring that up, Parró is once again going to assume we have some sort of ulterior motive, which isn't exactly gonna dissuade the notion that we're some sort of politician or chessmaster.

[X] Nah. You don't have to do anything right now. Go talk to Anri.

Eh, don't feel like pontificating even a little. I wanna get into the science update. Parrot (not changing this one) and co know we're the type of wienies that will help them if they need it, no other conversation necessary until they actually have something to say.

Once we have the girls rembodied I wouldn't mind trying with a clear seed. Kazumi acted cray cray in her story, but I suspect a clear seed may just leave us with a person who is connected but catatonic. Channeling magic into them may stimulate consciousness. If nothing else once Airi's friend is around half full or more we might try seeing if she can talk.

[:V] I would have gone with "door me," but it's too early in 2011 for anyone besides me to get that reference.
You just had so say that the same year that I finally started getting into worm fanfics.
Nah, ship is Wish, cant copy that.
Kazumi has copy magic that can and has copy that. Sayak has copied the copier and has copied that. Sayak also has clone power. Clone have weapon. Battleship is weapon. You know what that means? We can has FLEET!

Changing the topic slightly I gotta say the overall sequence in which we took the Iowa crew down is perhaps one of my favorites in PMMM fiction in general. Like I sometimes think about how impressive from the outside that whole thing would seem. Gathering allies, traveling hundreds of miles, taking down a veteran enemy force, rescuing hostages, doing all of this over a crowded city at a height where any stray shot could have a 50/50 chance of killing someone, and doing it all not only without a single death on any side, but not even a single disconnected gem! I'm Pretty sure that's the sort of thing that would be considered impressive by the early MSY from To The Stars.

Eventually if we're doing things right it won't even be our thing to worry about even if we want to. Eventually the magical girl society created by us should become able to reign even us in, same as everyone else. Upon such a point we will then only be involved as we manage to convince others to let us be.

I personally hope we just like, run a fun house, garden, or like, run the combination italiaboo/Weeaboo tea fanciers association. Nothing big, maybe part time consulting that doesn't go above our other work and totals with said work no more than 32 hours a week.

There will always be something to do, but once meguca have the equivalent of the agricultural revolution (whereas atm they barely even have Hunter gatherer, if Hunter gatherer required you only hunt Sabertooth tigers, and if you wanted more you had to feed people to the tiger cubs) it will be different objectives entirely. Don't care what's best even really just wanna get the food up and running, then I consider any strife afterwards a necessary dialectic to allow society to form and not just be a sock puppet.

Nerevar isn't on the current Tribunal list for this year and the next Tribunals are 2024-AT-19 and 2024-AT-20 since only two Tribunals are done at a time under the current rules. 2024-AT-19 is my Tribunal over a Rule 4 violation that you can look up after it ends in early July so there is no way we will be able to find out what happened to Nerevar before then unless someone either PMs him or opens a thread in Staff Communications.

Either way that is about as much as should be said on that topic in this thread until there is a thread that can explain what happened to link to elsewhere on the site.

His account says banned forever which is... Worrying to say the least...

While I am curious I dont really want to de-rail so instead im gonna ask, would it be possible to make that weird shield Walmart uses?

Heck what about limitless? Go full Gojo and stuff.

TIL there are tribunals on SV...

that weird shield Walmart uses?
Due to my mind still being stuck in Waffle House parking lot I pictured actual Walmart with energy shield and for a full minute was frantically trying to figure out when the hell this happened in PMMM verse or this story.

Theoretically. Practically unless we get scans of actual Walpurgis's shield we only can make convincing copy. Walpurgis's shield might end up being better or worse depending on from what and how magic efficiently copy can protect. I am not actually sure we need one, not really. We have Iowa in cuffs already, and I dont think anyone but them and Walpurgis go around bombarding cities at random. And for HQs, well, only to lighten burden on Yuki which is important but kind of a long shot

For recruiting a healer to help with the Souju's victims, how about turning it into a contest? Like a martial arts tournament, but for supernatural medical care instead of face-punching.
Announcement via Nadia and the IRC channels and whatever else: free soul-gem cleansing for the duration, travel and lodging expenses reimbursed for anybody who arrives before the event is over and successfully cures at least one clinically-terminal patient, potential prizes for winners include Clear Seeds, gold bars, job offers in Constellation and/or the Tokyo Council, unique enchanted items... maybe other stuff? Room for brainstorming.
Score-keeping to be handled by senior physicians at Mitakahara General Hospital, which will also be providing the majority of targets. Contest ends when security gets angry, or affiliated hospitals run out of people who need healing.

Leverage Oriko's recollections of precog, filtered through Umika's True Writing, to enable Homura to freeze time on the exact frame Walpurgisnacht first appears. Sayaka uses the technique-copying power to copy the Stage-Constructing Witch's personal shield, and flips it inside-out to protect the city. If Walpurgisnacht has any attack which can break that defense, the technique-copier Sayaka copied from will be standing ready to imitate that attack, and fire it simultaneous to Sabrina and Kirika slamming their respective anti-witch win buttons, along with various others.

Sure, here's your scenario: meguca with good potential wishes to have power of mass mind control. Now it doesnt matter if it 2 or 20 gucas against her.
As the number of girls rises, the odds of one of them having a counter to mind control approaches 1.
Or just get in petty squabbles over nonsense that escalate in full blown conflicts because if you dont need to reserve magic and can tank getting your turned into fine red mist why not spar more freely?
Purpose-built warded combat arenas with protected soul gem holders, with attached cloning tank farm and on-staff healers?

Sure but by the time one shows up she would get ganked by mindcontrolled ones anyway. And even if not, smart thing to do would be for one guca stay at range and hold soul gems of other gucas; not only for safekeeping and cleanses midcombat but also if one breaks free she can just crash the gem and call it a day.

That sounds kinda awesome buuuuut a lot of people in PMMM are really hang up on such insignificant and petty thing as humanity so cloning vats would freak them the fuck out. But general idea of cover for arena kinda works.

Eeeeeexcept we have Yuki anyway so that also counts as "Making Yuki's life easier"

I couldn't think of what to say to her and Redshirt is right.
The best way to win is to give her the cold shoulder.

With the discussion about prep for the upcoming big event that reminds me that we should head back to Tokyo before it happens too.

That still lasts until word of the mind controller gets out, and everyone who doesn't want to get mind controlled gets together to crush her. We don't need to get into the specifics of whose power counters what, what's important is that last week we tried to come up with some way to protect ourselves from the mind control we expected from Tokyo and ended up with like five different working solutions in a single afternoon. The same applies to whatever other power you can come up with to make a single magical girl a threat to global magical communism. Even Homura can be beaten if you can figure out how her power works.

You keep asking "what if a problem happens" and treating that as The End, and after a point the only possible response is "we'll figure it out." A stable society isn't one that never has any problems, it's one that has the tools to address whatever problems arise. Constellation will have no shortage of tools.

Me saying that the problems you're proposing are manageable isn't me saying that they don't exist or asking to be blindsided. It's me saying that they can be managed.

It's worth noting that our protections also, like... worked.

Even disregarding Sabrina's own weirdness, just trying to control our allies was enough to bring Tochimichi to her knees and would have outright witched out the Chiyoda group if Sabrina hadn't been there and providing cleansing.
