Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I am sitting here with a sore throat and am wondering about Healthcare in Lucasfilm.

Is Lucasfilm big enough that they negotiate directly with hospitals or do they still use an insurance company as a middleman?

Now this might be a step too far but if Lucasfilm gets big enough / gets enough people on board creating a private hospital might be a good idea.

A hospital with a presold number of procedures would incentivize Lucasfilm employees to USE it proactively potentially catching issues when they are easily and cheaply fixed.

From the hospitals perspective an agreed on number of procedures means being being able to have guaranteed shifts, staffing and inputs which as well as being more financially stable is going to be very attractive to certain medical Professionals.

While Lucasfilm should get first procedure spots. Offering a cheap health cover with second priority for people Bruce has helped with project lighthouse could fill the rest of the procedure spots and ensure that the hospital has flex and ongoing capacity and experience with more complex or rare procedures.

To make it a good deal for the community I would try to locate it on the new Metro line and let the newly formed LA metro have a quick win.

A quick google gets me a price tag for a 60 bed micro-hospital, emergency departmentand outpatient surgical costing 52 million in todays money. 150 beds with specialty units and extensive operating rooms clocks in for about 210 million

About 14 million and 55.75 million respectively in 1980 dollars. As a combined Lucasfilm improvement to reduce injury or health issues increase worker retention and satisfaction as well as a charitable heart outreach and drop health insurance costs it made me wonder if we should invest in something like that.

We could call it the Emerald Clinic.
Just offer good health benefits like a sane company lol. Why do we need to go start up our own hospital chain? Should we now start building Lucas Town and other corperate towns to give our employees that extra degree of safety and comfort?

I want to buy Sega. Their parent company Gulf and Western wanted to get rid of them in the early '80 due the videogame crash. But this can wait for a bit if needed.

JK. How else are we going to get that extra script quality. Reminder big number go BRR

Besides Disney is technically nuclear capable

how else are we supposed to Compete with that?

Start with hospitals, move onto company towns, get into spaceports and end with our own colony on the moon.

Can we try game show since it'll be a auto pass? Oh and important foreign films been a while since we did that.

That would be awesome.

Another fun one to blow minds would be Gophering. A multiple Award winning actor director following a relative nobody? That sounds like fun.
Can we use the autopass to fight against the Satan panic now so we can hurt the puritist fraud churches

BOO. Logical reasonable and the right thing to do. Why cant we ignore satanic panic until it blows up in our face.

You reluctantly have my Vote.

Another good idea. Universal and Sid are about to Sue Nintendo 1982 over Donkey Kong / King Kong despite Sid knowing it was in public domain. perhaps we could lend a hand there out of sheer spite For Sids Legal shenanigans towards Lucasfilm.

Hmm, so long as they are willing to become LucasArts Entertainment then I see no problems with this.

It also helps that I've wanted to do a Pitch for Sonic for a while, but was not sure how to introduce him.

Now, for our Dune options, i have no problem selecting as many as we want, but I think it would be better if we tried the casting options one per turn, in order to not overwhelm us with actors and names.

In December 1988
"So why do you want me to come with you to Japan, Micheal?"
"Because we're going somewhere that you're fists will be needed."
"I doubt that, but fine. Where we headed?"
"Kamurocho."
In January 1989
"Bruce, why the hell are you injured?!"
"Got into a fight with a Japanese Gorilla."
"Does this has to do with the group of Japanese you insisted on hiring as bodyguards and actors?"
"I thought the one with the recently colored white dragon on his back was kidnapping Mary. Turns out he was protecting her. Hired him and his best friend as thanks."
"And the former nightlife manager?"
"A freaking genius at managing people and finances. All I had to do was promise a place for a friend of his in jail when he's done with his time along with helping his girl start a legit Massage Parlor."
"Only you can stumble onto that kinda shit show and walk away with a bruised body, a video for Thriller and a group of eternally loyal former Yakuza."

Edit: I didn't intend for this to be posted right after people started talking about Sega I swear.

[X] Plan Flowing Spice
-[X]Casting Call (The Atredies): You need to put out a casting call for the Atredies DC: 0 (Begin a Casting Miniturn)
-[X]Casting Call (the Harkonen): You need to put out a casting call for the HarkonenDC: 0 (Begin a Casting Miniturn)
-[X]Casting Call (the Freman): You need to put out a casting call for the Freman. DC: 0 (Begin a Casting Miniturn)
-[X]The Dune: You and Francis are going to look at numerous places that could be the Arakis or Dune. DC: 40/80
-[X]The Costumes: Herbert for his part, created incredibly detailed costumes in his book. And you are going to look at what the Lucasfilms Costume Department can do. DC: ???
-[X]The Sets From Hell: So… You are looking at the pictures and wonder… how the absolute fuck are you going to do… any of this!? DC: 50/100
-[X]The Knives and Weapons: So, as the most combat-proven (in HEMA) blades man in Lucasfilms currently, you are going to figure out what exactly the blades should be used, and their context DC: 30
-[X]The Peace that Is to Come: Alan and Barry, and Sid and Murdoch, are calling in that thing to make a super movie that shows the greatest of American Filmmaking and make the peace worth a damn. One that would spare no expense. DC: ???
-[X]Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark: Steven's next, and you would argue, greatest masterpiece. You hoped at least. You had high hopes. DC: 20
-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids!
-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Daiei Film. With the success of Pacific Rim, you want Lucasfilms to become an active participant in the Kaiju genre and make a film. With Godzilla under strong lock and key by perfidious Toho, why not uplift his greatest rival? Approach Daiei with the script for "Gamera: Guardian of the Universe" and see if they would be interested in a joint production between them and Lucasfilms, with extra emphasis on access to ILM.
-[X] Practice writing: You want to write something, maybe even a script. At least to learn the craft. DC: 20 (You try your hand at screenwriting, and maybe get something that is worth a damn.)
--[X] Write Kung Fu Kid Part II.
-[X]Game Shows: You want to go on a Game show, you are sure that Lucille might get you in on one of them. DC: 40

So first off we take all of the Dune actions and autopass them, especially the high DC ones so we can make an amazing movie and start filming ASAp. Check in with the other filmmakers and make that epic crossover. Release Indiana Jones and watch the magic happen.

For personal action, some nice family time with Carrie and the kids to prepare in case we get busy. For investments, since LA is pretty hostile right now, lets invest in Ireland and I found this neat Irish confectionary company called Oatfield which I think Bruce would like. Write the script for Kung Fu Kid Part II to get it ready a couple years from now, and we can use it to help boost our writing skill and get another script for Lucasfilms. Lastly, I really want to get into game shows and do something fun so let's autopass this.

I like the plan, though I think we should have tried for more time in between casting options. But I can see the appeal to have the casting done all at once.

Sometimes I look at the gophering action where Bruce learns the scut work that goes into making a movie and I wonder why we haven't done it yet. I think it's been there since like Bruce first directed a movie.

Honestly, I put it there for more a comedy and a scenario that I want to write, that requires him to gopher around. :V

--[X] Oatfield. $2 Million. Ireland's oldest confectionary manufacturer and a personal favorite of your sweet tooth growing up. You want to share with the world the greatness of Oatfield and wish to become a co-owner with the Mckinney family, still keeping management under them but helping it to thrive into a great business with your patronage.

Ok this one is for @Magoose.

The only change form @Kaiser Chris is swapping in the gopher one for comedy potential and potentially boosting Dune again. Besides if @Magoose has been sitting on it for this long I really want to see what happens and I am a bit wary of that DC 50 roll.

I don't want to be negative but could we spend our rare automatic pass on something with a bit more ... substance then on a throw away company which does nothing of importance to us?

Fair. I just did it because I ran out of ideas and I wanted Bruce to expand his business portfolio, something I found as worthy of an autopass considering the hell that Bruce is going through just to acquire land in LA.

How about we do this action instead:
[]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)

We get another film added to the roster, it's good synergy with the Hollywood co-production, and we network and expand our presence in live action Japanese cinema. Plus we can use Gamera later on in our anime or games.

So something to say now that things are getting wierd…

Once production begins the production turns will be… awesome!

And go through time like no one's buissness.
