Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

There is also a write in, just in case you want to do something different

Does this mean if we chose to do both there will be a constant risk of injury irregardless of roll or will the injury chance only come with a low result?
On both options, both stunts are considered incredibly dangerous. Thats why its a special action and I put in a write in.

Bruce has the chance to get injured. Just not critically, as he is well-trained enough to stop, and seek medical attention. but he might break a finger or a leg.

I don't think that's what Kaiser is asking. Kaiser seems to be asking if the chance of injury will be rolled, even if we roll high on the stunt, or if it will be rolled only if we roll low. Not if there will be only one injury roll applied to both stunts. That's just my impression anyway.

Ah, that.

Bruce has the possibility of getting injured regardless. But he has to fail multiple rolls.

Basically, everyone has to fuck up, Bruce dosen't notice, and something goes wrong.

Honestly, I think the Batmobile scene is the most appropriate if we had to go with only one, but I really wanted to do the 100 man fight and have it be a long take like the one in the Kingsmen with the church fight, with very energetic shots and the camera actively moving around through the crowd of 100 goons. I think it would be fucking awesome and the details about the injury rolls that Magoose laid out make me more sure that we could do it, but if we had to do only one, the Batmobile one is the one that'd fit more.

I personally want both, but if we should go to one, I think we should go with the Batmobile. 80s movies and car chases can never go wrong!

[]Smile for it has happened (Unknown Effect)

Forgot about the options for The Nguyens, but I feel like the other two choices are already happening and this one seems to have positive vibes.

Okay, so from what I'm getting from Questers, the general consensus seems to be that we try and go for both, but if we need to drop one then either one will be fine. Hmm.....I'm a bit conflicted on which one we should pursue alone if we need to drop one. Both scenes seem to take inspiration from The Batman and I loved both the Batmobile and club scenes. I guess I would go for the Batmobile then because we had lots of great fights last time, but we never really had an awesome Batmobile moment.

Any further thoughts?

People i know this is a little controversial but what if we tied the 100 man fight with that comic who batman take drugs show that for all his trainig he is not bat god like show the scene of alfred scream like past facture of the body of batman like this is the impuslive rage moment that this goona kill you and have that moment he talking about that fantasy like he is in vacations he see bruce with a wife and children they see each other and say nothing

I gonna be honest if we doo this scene be carefuly not create agent smith moment batman for all is human plase show the fragility of batman

Movie Pitch: First Of October
Movie Pitch:
First Of October

Genre:
Music, Adventure, Friendship
Sub-Genre: Band Movie
Format: Full-Length Movie
Bio:
This movie is the story of the friendship between two lads from different sides of the planet, yet share a passion for music. Every First of October, they would create an album within 24 hours and release it to show the efforts of that partnership. However, like usual bands, the two lads would have personal struggles and illness (the cold-type ones) and it often than not make production/creation of the songs harder. Especially with the next album being created outside the country and in the UK, Abbey Road.

The effort of this film is to not only create a band-based movie, but one works on the unorthodox structure such as uniting every First of October to produce an album from scratch within a 24 hour timeframe, but also show that there are variables that appears in affecting the mood, the creation, the production, and other aspects of songwriting/creation.

The Cast:

Andrew Yiang – A musician with a previously one-hit wonder: Pink Fluffy Unicorns. He is influenced by The Beatles, and it shows greatly in the latest album of the Band. He is most excited for the trip, however he is also concerned about the health of his friend who has a cold and just left the airport.

Rob Stallion – Known for using the guitar of all types, he also knows how to use different instruments along with Andrew. Entering the UK, he is tired from the flight and also has some kind of sickness, sapping his energy from recording. Regardless, he is still willing to record even if he goes through the current sap for his friend.

N/A: A bright spot to add into the catalogue, a bit different from the themes I've sent on earlier. This one's focused on Friendship, Music, and also shows the experimentive behaviour and writing on-the-fly tactics that songwriters/creators uses IRL (at least for the time), in addition to the fact that there are instances that band members actually attends meetings even if they're sick.

Batman Post-Credits Scene
Batman Post-Credits Scene

Before Batman, post credits scenes were a rarity, the first film to use them only having come out a decade prior. Since then, post credit scenes were mainly used for small gags or bloopers in comedic films. After all, if the post credits scene was important, then why wouldn't it simply be edited in earlier for the film? Even Star Wars, the GOAT of cinema didn't have a post credits scene, so surely they were pointless?

Such an attitude was shared by many who saw Batman on its first day, where after Bruce O'Brian as Batman soared off into the night and the title card was shown with rolling credits, a majority of the audience clapped, got up and went home.

Of course, there were a number of people who stayed behind. Moviegoers who just wanted a few minutes to relax before heading back out into the world, fans talking to one another in excitement of the movie they just witnessed and discussing it, people finishing their popcorn and other food, or just people who were waiting for the exiting crowd to lower out of claustrophobia.

As such, those that were remaining were quickly caught off guard when the credits stopped, and the film continued, with some fans rushing out and trying to get those who left to return.

The scene showed two a Gotham rooftop illuminated by the setting sun. Two criminals burst through a doorway, guns raised and scanning the environment while both carried heavy bags of money. After confirming that all was clear, the criminals relax their stance, one throwing his money to the ground in anger, a few hundred dollar bills flying out.

"Damn it all, was just a few months ago that this town was a good place for respectable criminals to make an honest living. Now it's all goin down the drain!" The criminal yelled in frustration, confident that they were too high up for anyone to hear them.

"Bad enough that we got that Bat freak sending everyone to the hospital, but now the Pigs actually care about their jobs." His partner concured.

The first criminal exhaled heavily and pulled out a cigarette, lighting it to calm himself down, "Could be worse, at least the bat's nocturnal, we've got a schedule we can work around."

The partner nodded, "And he's just a person that can punch hard, sooner or later he's gonna fight the bullet. Small chance, but we have a chance to win."

The smoker blew a large trail off the ledge, "Bats is bad, but he's just a cape. If he were a super cape, I would have left after Falcone was brought in. Least we don't have to deal with Superman, Blue boy scout only cares about Metropolis."

At the mention of the Man of Steel, the remaining audience was stunned, as while Batman and Superman were both DC comics heroes, there had been absolutely no mention of Superman or any other DC heroes up until this point, and it was just name dropped so casually. Little did they know-

"Oh really, and who told you that?"

The partner screamed in pure terror, scrambling and crawling away in mortal fear. Meanwhile the famous John Williams score played faintly, building up with each note, driving the audience crazy at what was happening before their eyes.

The smoker's body froze in pure fear, then slowly and mechanically he turned around, mouth agape and cigarette bunt dropped at what he saw, Superman flying in the air a few feet behind him.

The man of steel gave his warm and comforting smile and a small wave, "Hi there, now are we gonna do this the easy way or the hard way?"

The smoker panicked and reached for his gun, firing several rounds at Superman, only for them to bounce off. Superman sighed, "I guess it's the hard way."

The camera then cuts to Batman kicking down the roof door and rolling onto the scene, fists raised for a fight, only for the camera to pan out and show that no one is present save for himself. Batman looks around in confusion, then glances up and stares at the gliding figure of Superman.

"If you're searching for those two crooks who robbed Gotham Plaza, I just dropped them off at the 13th precinct." Superman greets with a smile.

Batman grunts, the two heroes staring down at each other, "If you continue operating in my city in the future, it would do you well to keep me informed." Batman warned.

"Oh, a little protective are we?" Superman asked.

"The 13th is one of the most crooked precincts in Gotham. They may take their jobs seriously with criminals brought in by Superman, but there's no guarantee those thugs won't be released soon." Batman said frankly.

Superman frowned, looking slightly guilty, "My apologies." Batman nods his head slightly in understanding.

"Where are my manners, I'm Superman." Superman introduces himself with a handshake, one Batman reciprocates.

"Batman." Batman says plainly.

Superman shakes his hand lightly as they release, "My, that's quite a strong grip you got there."

"Coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment." Batman says, with Superman chuckling slightly.

Batman crosses his arms and paces, keeping his eyes on Superman, "What's the blue boy scout doing in Gotham? Run out of cats to stuck in trees?" Batman asks.

Superman shakes his head with a slight laugh, "No, we never seem to run out of those in Metropolis. Over the past couple of months, I've been hearing lots of interesting stories coming out of Gotham. Stories of a new protector who watches over the city, keeps its people safe from the night. I was hoping to meet this hero, get to know him."

Batman stops his pacing, looking at Superman in slight suspicion, "Even with some of the....methods that this man uses?"

Superman shrugs his shoulders, "I admit, it's a little too rough and dark for my liking. I've always tried to inspire through my example, even the people who I fight."

Superman looks at Batman, expecting some sort of rebuke or counter, but instead he's surprised as Batman sighs and walks over to the edge, hands gripping on the rooftop as he stares at the city in intensity.

"I wish I could be like you, to be a Superman. Gotham is too corrupted and fallen too low for paragons and virtues alone to make a difference. The criminals of this city need to be taught fear, that there will be consequences, and the weak and innocent can never be preyed upon. So no one will lose those they love again."

"Because it's our responsibility, and because it's right?" Superman prods, receiving a slight nod from Batman, who then turns to face Superman, "That's what makes you a hero Batman, even if we are practical mirrors to one another. It's why I'm reaching out, because heroes now more than ever need to stand together."

Batman faces Superman, intrigued. "What are you proposing?"

"We live in strange and uncertain times. Amazing people, with powers and without, are rising to help change the world for the better. At the same time though, there are many villains who wish to spread terror and fear, bad men and women who wish to make the world their own."

"I am not leaving Gotham, the city needs me, my mission hasn't been finished." Batman said defensively.

Superman nods, "I know, and I would never ask you to abandon your home. But you have to realize Batman, that there's a whole world out there who need heroes like us to defend them. I can't be everywhere at once, and there are some things that even Superman can't do. Gotham has you, but what about the rest of America? What happens when there's a threat that is greater than either of us a time where we must rise to the occasion?" Superman questions.

Batman stands in silent contemplation for a few seconds before answering, "So what you're suggesting is some sort of club, a team?"

"A league perhaps, one that will stand for justice, welcome to all heroes." Superman offers.

Batman shakes his head, "A noble idea, but impractical and unlikely."

"Would many not say the same of one man trying to rescue Gotham? How can you judge unless you've seen it through?" Superman counters.

Batman stares off to the side, looking as if in the middle of recollection, memories far and recent coming to mind as he comprehends Superman's offer, "I can't walk away and fight for others when Gotham is experiencing change for the first time in decades, when the people start to have faith that there will be a morning."

Superman nods in understanding and respect, turning around and ready to fly away before Batman continues, "Not today, and not tomorrow. But perhaps somewhere in the future, I can be that hero you believe I am, one the world deserves."

Superman smiles widely, "I couldn't have asked for more."

Superman's head then jerks suddenly, and a few second later a fleet of police cars is heard dashing on the streets below, "Duty calls." Batman says simply.

"So it does. I could lend a hand." Superman offers.

Batman nearly rejects, but then remembers something, "There's a cargo freighter about 100 miles out into the Atlantic set to come into Gotham later tonight. There's a large shipment of narcotics set to be distributed by the mob. It's been out of my reach so far, but if..."

"Superman were to pay a visit and convince our friends to pull a Gotham tea party?" Superman offered.

Batman smirked, "Something like that."

"I'll see what I can do. Keep up the fight Batman." Superman finishes, then flies off into the setting sun, his triumphant theme playing.

The camera pans in on Superman as he flies away, "Bruce Wayne huh, who would have thought?" Superman says to himself, shaking his head mirthfully as he flies forward to save the day.

Batman smiles at the retreating form of the Man of Steel, "Safe travels Clark Kent." He says, then leaps forward and glides over Gotham, his theme concluding the scene with a powerful finish.

Thus, the DC Universe was born, and cinema was changed for the second, but not the last time by Bruce O'Brian.

Batman Post-Credits Scene
Ah... Now that... That is a good post-credit scene. And all because Bruce wanted to avoid the media that day, and Chris happened to be on set.

Stranger things will be... fun on that bit of trivia.

[]The Post Credit Boom (I hope this dosen't get out of hand)
[]The Post Credit Slump (Why the hell would anyone do something silly like that)
[]The Post Credit WTF? (So some idiot has an idea.)

...So, I guess one question is, for the flagship franchise what direction do we want to take the post trilogy Star Wars?
Do we want to loosely follow the disneyish rapid replacement of the empire? The slow grinding war as the new Republic grinds through a falling apart Empire that is legends. Or perhaps, go something closer to historical china where the two overfactions, losing their main threat/leaders respectively, start to show widening cracks over the fate of the galaxy?

I mean, the Empire would have Empire loyalists trying to burn things down and prep for palpatine's return if he could return. Have various warlords squabbling for power with likely a figure like the ISB trying to herd cats, and others whom are more ideologically solid, holding to the image of the Empire they were sold on, trying to uphold the empty promise.

While the Rebellion, after the fall of the Empire could easily find tensions and battle lines, between those wanting to turn things back to the way it was, those that just don't want the outer rim to be abandoned again, and various reformist groups, possibly even including a faction formed by defecting Imperials.

I want to try and follow "Heir to the Empire". Thrawn deserves his chance at the big/small screen, since after all, a TV series depicting it would only gie us a greater cahnce to depict the near fall and lucky survival of the empire. Not to mention that if we try and make it canon, then the next films could show how the Republic is developing and the possible invasion by the Yuuzhan Vong!

Yes, I like the Yuuzhan Vong, I'm stiking with this!

Anyways, the story could be about trying to survive the invasion, perhaps needing to have both the light and dark sides of the Force join together to fight against them. The Republic and the remnant of the Empire as well. It would have politics, fights, philosophical questions about the nature of the Force. it would be everything we want from the Sequel Trilogy and never got.

Of course, I also suggest we don't follow the Disney format; which is churning out lackluster series in quantity and forgetting the quality. We should try and spread out in genres, but never forgetting what makes Star Wars what it is, while also making sure that each new series or movie is an event in and of itself.

I would suggest we first try for a series like "The Mandalorian" to play with what may come after the movies (since that seems to be what people want), and perhaps after a while we can try with Andor.

disneyish rapid replacement of the empire?

Rewrite Rey into a better protagonist + Make her Origins still unknown, Make Luke's character change that matches his character progression, Supreme Leader Snoke's backstory as the hidden successor on the off-chance Vader offs Palps..

Basicallty, rewrite the Sequels into a better story with developed characters, and no change of directors in the middle of the series.

The Clone Wars is also another contender.

One thing I am considering doing, is possibly an omake of basically someone deciding to try and basically develop a Star wars wargame, theorycrafting possible factions in part cause well, video games are limited by size unlike board games/wargames, and it might be a good thought exercise to get ideas for expanding the verse.

Like say, having two rival factions in the imperials led by Tarkin's protege(he is dead as a doornail after all) and one led by one of the few highly respected officers still alive(if he were not an alien), as the two least grey of the Imperial factions. With rebel factions including groups like Alderaan's sons, or basically a highly motivated aggressive faction founded by those whom lost their home to the death star, possibly a force built by defectors whom were disillusioned by the Empire and yet face friction due to being ex-empire. And other possible ideas.

[]The Post Credit Boom (I hope this dosen't get out of hand)

Kind of the most fitting conclusion since Batman was the third film that made a billion dollars and having Batman and Superman meet and talk in 1979 would blow the minds of the world all over. What would the third choice be though?

...So, I guess one question is, for the flagship franchise what direction do we want to take the post trilogy Star Wars?

Legends all the way, the immediate collapse of the Empire in Canon is one of the stupidest things about Disney lore which was only possible through the moronic Operation Cinder. Legends was far more natural with how killing Palpatine didn't instantly win the Rebellion the galaxy and they had to earn the New Republic's right to govern through a slow and methodical liberation to the Core. It also has the benefit of purging the Imperial rot and legacy with New Republic governance, versus the quick Disney death of the Empire where by necessity you have to fill the New Republic's bureaucracy and elections with Imperials who get pardoned, and then we get Space Lost Cause BS and Neo-Imperialism. The Disney corruption of the New Republic is interesting scenario in isolation, but it just makes Democracy as a whole look like a terrible governing ideology and makes all the heroes efforts pointless, something we don't want to go for here.

Admittedly though, if we do film Heir to the Empire then we might have to have it set 10 years after Return of the Jedi to adjust for the aging of the actors. Really hope Mark's genes do better here, I think Bruce would have natural progression and Carrie here with no drugs or alcoholism would likely look like how she did in the mid 80's OTL in a 90's Star Wars, but Mark kind of speedran middle age.

If not Thrawn, I wouldn't mind doing the Templin Institute's version of the sequels mixed with Legends lore.

In regards to the splintering of the Rebellion as you pointed out, one thing I actually wanted to do with the lore here was instead of having the entire galaxy unified under the New Republic, we ironically take a page out of Disney and have the galaxy be more multi-polar with lots of independent states arising in the Rim and Core while the New Republic is the galaxy's superpower, but not the monostate that the Old Republic was. With that, we can have Bantam adventures that have Leia and Luke deal with other states in diplomacy and stories that reflect the 90s, and we can sort of set up the Clone Wars by showing many states, particuarly Separatist systems, who while hating the Empire do not trust the New Republic because they have strong memories of the decadence and corruption of the Old Republic, and why would you want to trust a successor state to the same state which gave rise to Palpatine and the Empire?

We can have stuff like Garm Bel Iblis leading an independent Corellia, a Tionese state, Serenno trying to restart the Confederacy, the Muuns and Neimodians doing economic shenanigans, Onderon, etc. I'm also looking to do Imperial successor states, warlords who don't want to conquer the galaxy and instead want to rule over their own fiefdom and make their version of the Empire. Not too many mind you as most need to be villains defeated by the heroes, but two prominent examples I can think of are having the Empire of the Hand as a recurring frenemy of the New Republic and go to state for Unknown Regions and Chiss shenanigans, basically Space Vietnam. Also have the Pentastar Alignment continue to exist as sort of the Space Yugolsavia.

Also small spoiler, but my next Omake will probably be a pitch where Mike Pondsmith meets George and pitches to him "Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game". Just got some Star Wars RPG books and they're pretty great, and I think Mike and Talsorian making a Star Wars game makes sense considering OTL around this time, his first RPG was basically inspired by Star Wars.

Might be a controversial idea, but if we do the Thrawn trilogy how about replacing C'Boath with Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati? C'Boath is probably the one weak point and lame part of the Thrawn trilogy as he never does anything much besides act crazy and be obsessed with wanting a student, through Luke then the twins. Baylan is a cool concept and one of the good parts of Disney, and here we can thematically set him up as sort of the anti-Obi-wan, a Jedi utterly disillusioned by the order's downfall and now merely a tool for war and power that trains his apprentice as his weapon. Could have some good parallelism versus Luke who is trying to rebuild the Jedi Order and it also factors into Luke's character growth and journey to understand what it means to be a Jedi.

Don't know if the Dark and Light need to join forces and if that means we'd have to move the Lost Tribe of the Sith arc earlier, but New Republic and Empire joining together was basically part of Legends and that's something I actually like about the Vong War was that it was able to push the galaxy to be truly united and at peace through the Galactic Federation. I don't mind us making the NJO books, though I imagine as a whole they'll probably be less darker. At the very least, I can't imagine Anakin Solo dying because no author wants to be the one who killed one of Bruce and Carrie's kids, fictional or not, and audience backlash would be incredibly severe. Although maybe Anakin is a girl here based off of Mary and Jacen and Jaina are Joseph and Sarah.

Speaking of the Solo kids, there almost was a Young Jedi Knights cartoon series OTL to be run by Fox but things fell through at the last second. Here, I can definitely see that happening with LucasTV, maybe as a Hanna-Barbera show.

I thought you wanted Andor to be the first Star Wars show followed by the Mandalorian? I think that could work better to build up a demand for post-Empire stuff and then we have Mandalorian start to explore that era.

One thing I am considering doing, is possibly an omake of basically someone deciding to try and basically develop a Star wars wargame, theorycrafting possible factions in part cause well, video games are limited by size unlike board games/wargames, and it might be a good thought exercise to get ideas for expanding the verse.

When we get to the 90s I'm personally hoping of doing Empire at War combined with Gihren's Greed, and perhaps in the long term we have a Paradox style Star Wars grand strategy game.
