Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Well, we'll find out when the time comes won't we?

So...video game ideas?
Beyond a Marvel TTRPG, that's basically World of Darkness in a trenchcoat and painted with the blood of Tom & Jerry to kinda-sorta resemble the plot of Hook by way of Stranger Things, I kinda want to work with Game Freak to produce different Pokemon Regions around the world.

But for an original title...for the time period we're in, I think we should attempt something like A Legionary's Life that has elements of Titan Quest and Sifu, where the player is given RPG mechanics to navigate the Ancient World as a Conscript, but whenever they die they get a scorecard for their lifepath and then continue on to the next incarnation in a roguelike fashion, with the basic conceit of the game being that it starts as a Greco-Roman Xianxia and, depending on wherever your character settled, it slowly shifts to that culture's folklore [ie. Greco-Roman -> Slavic -> Norse (Amber Road Route), Greco-Roman -> Indian -> Japanese (Silk Road Route), or Greco-Roman -> Greco-Roman (Loyalty Run)], with the caveat being that you only have a handful of reincarnations to finish the storyline that only covers four or five centuries [EDIT: with there being only three or four routes to take due to hardware limitations].

I found these and was thinking we could make games out of them

lucius.fandom.com

Lucius Demake

Lucius Demake is a remake of the first Lucius game that was released onto Steam on August 9th 2016. Demake was created after a fan-made 16-bit image of the original game went viral, with Shiver Games taking it as an interesting concept to pursue. An official announcement was made on June 6th...

What other kinds of games should we try and tackle when the time comes? I think we should try and focus moreso on either original pitches or stuff based on our existing IP. We've gotten to the point where I'm getting a little worried about the prospects of other studios, since we seem to be taking so much of what they had as successes. Maybe this is an unfounded concern, but I can't help but feel that we're beginning to preemptively take too much from the other studios OTL filmographies and I'd hate to do that with games too. Maybe we aren't there yet, maybe Magoose will simply dip into unused pitches to give to other studios like he did with Iron Lung, maybe Magoose will be able to scrounge up enough alternate franchises for them, but I can't help but get a bit nervous.

We have a massive setting in Star wars that gives options, many options without stepping into original IP territory.

We could try for a fire emblem style Star wars game, would actually fit well with the nature of the rebel alliance after dealing with the reflecting more modern combat.

Conscript, An Odyssey
Conscript, An Odyssey: [ Videogame | Textbased Adventure: RPG / Roguelike ]

Step into the shoes of a brave and resilient legionary in the epic Conscript, An Odyssey. Set in the Ancient World, this RPG adventure combines the immersive mechanics of a textbased adventure game like Zork with the mythical elements of Homer's Odyssey and the intense combat of a Bruce Lee film. Prepare for a journey like no other as you navigate through different cultures, reincarnating after each untimely demise.

As a freshly conscripted legionary, your goal is to survive the perils of the Ancient World while uncovering the secrets of your own past lives. Your journey begins in the Greco-Roman era, where xianxia influences blend seamlessly with the rich lore of the time. However, death is not the end. Every time your character meets their untimely demise, you receive a scorecard that reflects the choices and actions of your lifepath. Armed with this knowledge, you continue your journey, reincarnating into a new life in a roguelike fashion. The game offers several routes to explore, determined by the culture you settle into with each incarnation. Will you embark on the treacherous Amber Road Route, shifting from Greco-Roman to Slavic and Norse folklore? Or perhaps you'll traverse the Silk Road Route, immersing yourself in Indian and Japanese myths? Alternatively, a Loyalty Run keeps you within the Greco-Roman realm, offering unique challenges and rewards.

Beware, time is not on your side. With only a limited number of reincarnations available, you must strategically choose your path and make the most of each life to uncover the full storyline. The narrative spans four or five centuries, creating a sense of urgency and depth to your quest. Prepare to face fierce enemies, engage in intense combat, and solve intricate puzzles as you venture through the Ancient World. Level up your character, acquire powerful relics, and master various skills to enhance your chances of survival. Immerse yourself in the rich and ever-evolving cultures of the Ancient World as you progress through different eras. Experience the grandeur of Greco-Roman myths, witness the enchantment of Slavic and Norse legends, or explore the mystique of Indian and Japanese folklore.

Can you uncover the truth of your past lives and complete your journey before time runs out? The fate of the Ancient World rests in your hands.

Offering a thrilling RPG experience with intense combat, reincarnation mechanics, and a captivating storyline. Customize your character's attributes, skills, and abilities as you level up and become stronger. Engage in real-time combat against mythical creatures and legendary warriors, using various tactics and special abilities. Explore different eras and cultures through reincarnation, with each life presenting fresh challenges and opportunities. Make strategic choices to uncover a time-limited storyline spanning centuries. Discover powerful relics, solve puzzles, and immerse yourself in visually stunning environments. Experience a rich narrative that intertwines with diverse mythologies and make impactful choices that shape your journey. Its notable gameplay features include extensive customization options for players to shape their character's attributes, skills, abilities, and equipment. At the start, players allocate points to attributes like strength, agility, and charisma, influencing various aspects of gameplay. As they level up, players invest skill points into different categories, such as combat, stealth, and magic, unlocking expertise in specific areas. Unique abilities can be acquired and improved, granting advantages in combat and other situations. The game features talent trees, allowing specialization in branches like swordsmanship, stealth, or diplomacy, with unlockable talents providing bonuses. Players can acquire and customize equipment, from weapons to armor, to suit their playstyle. Character progression through experience points grants new customization options. With a robust customization system, "Conscript, An Odyssey" enables players to create a personalized character for their journey through the Ancient World.

Most Developed Feature: The Talent Tree:
"Conscript, An Odyssey" features a talent tree system that allows players to customize their character's abilities and playstyle. The talent tree is divided into branches, each focusing on a specific aspect of gameplay such as combat, magic, or stealth. Players earn talent points as they progress, which can be spent to unlock and upgrade talents within the tree. Talents provide unique bonuses and effects, enhancing the character's capabilities in their chosen branch. Players can specialize in a specific branch or diversify their character by investing in multiple branches. The system also includes a respec option, allowing players to reallocate talent points and experiment with different builds. With the talent tree system, players have the freedom to shape their character and adapt to various challenges in the game's Ancient World setting.

A/N: To be perfectly honest, I came up with that idea on the spot, so here's a refined more detailed version as the pitch.
We could try for a fire emblem style Star wars game, would actually fit well with the nature of the rebel alliance after dealing with the reflecting more modern combat.
TBH My brain went Advanced Wars before it went to Fire Emblem based on that description.

Honestly, the systems are very similar. Just said Fire emblem because the character focus fits better thematically to a rebellion. I mean, advance wars play is a full-scale war, and if the rebellion outproduces the Empire, then there are questions like what the hell is the empire doing. :V

Though, fully embracing the theme would involve going into stealth gameplay as part of emphasizing the feeling of fighting against a mighty enemy while still giving options.

Im thinking of an FTL like game where we play as the Tantive IV as we escape the Empire's fleet. The game would be split into 2 chapters, chapter one would be our trip from scarif to tatooine to get obi wans and lukes help and ditch the tantive IV for the Millennium falcon. chapter 2 would be tatooine to Yavin IV to warn the rebels of the death star

Because someone pestered me to threadmark this stuff.

So I decided to give rewards since I'm doing that.

Dreaming of the Morphing Grid:
Power Rangers can begin production, but not until 1987.

However, for every bit of power rangers update, the better the scripts become better.

Full article:
As the assasination of the O'Brian family spreads around the world, many acrossed the United States demanded Carter to resign from office.

The failure of President Carter to protect his people from rouge enemies and even trusting China the one who ordered the hit on the O'Brian family has put the peoples confidence on his Administration at an all time low.

This large blunder along with Carter other blunders in Iran and Florida has finally broken the camels back as senator Mike Curb announces his plans to impeach Carter if he does not step down.

This ultimatum along with pressure from his party to resign and to become their scapegoat may have brokened the man as yesterday evening in a white house conference he told the reporters that he is sorry for failing them and the O'Brians family, in an emotionless voice he pleaded "may God forgive me for what im about to do" before he pulled a magnum pistol from his coat and preceded to shoot himself, the last moments before the Cameras were cut was the Presidents room stained with blood with a limp body sitting in it.

Already have a relationship roll.

However, things are going to look up.
And just to know @Magoose how many awful Jaws sequel has Universal produced in these 5 years?
3.

All of them were utterly terrible, and Everyone realizes that Steve was the man who made it work.

And Universal dosen't understand that they really let Steve get away.
Conscript, An Odyssey:
[]Video Games are the Future (Meanwhile, John Lassater and company at Pixar are screwing around with a little game. Called Luxo)
[]Mike Pondsmith changes gears (Mike wants to make a new game with David)
[]I think Bruce being HEMA grandmaster has something to do with this (Hema gains popularity.)

I want to just full send it and release the World of Darkness game books. Of course with the added benefit of tweaking things so the meta plot doesn't go crazy. Cause a lot of the stuff that was done could work if they were tweaked a bit. Such as the Garou being portrayed as how they actually are, insane theocratic pagan eco-terrorist berserkers who are only the heroes because what they face is so much worse.

Seriously, stick with most of the lore of Werewolf and just shift the lense from "Protectors of Nature" to "Lesser Evil" and it would work perfectly.

Same with the other splats, just tweak some of the stuff on how it's presented, and it works perfectly.

Turn 79 (August 1980)
Turn 79 (August 1980)

You stayed silent. No one was really calling you right now. Everyone knew what happened, but you were… just silent. Everyone could feel how you were.

How you wanted to be. Carrie knew, and she was smart for telling the kids to let you be alone for a little while. It was almost like she knew what you needed.

You needed this.

You needed to know what you did wrong. What you had possibly done wrong in allowing this to happen?

--[X] Lucasfilm Hong Kong: Azure Dragon Campus [$100 Million]: Lucasfilm envisions expanding its presence into Hong Kong, a bustling city with a vibrant cultural landscape and a thriving film industry. The plan is to establish the Azure Dragon Campus as a state-of-the-art production hub for film, television, and digital content. The studio will feature cutting-edge facilities for pre-production, production, post-production, and visual effects, tailored to meet the unique needs of Hong Kong storytelling. By tapping into Hong Kong's diverse talent pool of actors, filmmakers, writers, and technicians, Lucasfilm aims to collaborate with local creatives and showcase the city's captivating culture through compelling content. The studio will actively contribute to the growth of Hong Kong's film industry, forging partnerships with local production companies, educational institutions, and government entities to nurture talent, drive economic growth, and position Hong Kong as a prominent global entertainment hub. Through strategic collaborations and a deep appreciation for Hong Kong's rich heritage and dynamic communities, the Lunar Mansion Campus aims to showcase the city's unique perspectives, promote cultural exchange, and create captivating narratives that resonate with audiences worldwide, while bolstering the growth and recognition of the Hong Kong film industry.
---[X] Given current state of affairs with Carrie and the twins, instead of traveling to business men in Hong Kong, invite them and their representatives to negotiate these sales in LA on your dime; you also plan on having Mike and your dad there to help with negotiations. Due to his past actions, and especially for helping Mike out, you'd also like personally invite Jackie Chan to be a part of the proceedings, to have him [hopefully] be the face of Lucasfilm Unlimited in Hong Kong.
---[X] Boost Campus Security: Given the type of folk your dad used to run with, both as a soldier and as a mercenary, you're hoping that more than a few of them will be interested in joining the Azure Dragon Campus Security (LADSec?) to ensure that the men and women who will look to join the Lucasfilm family, your family, will be more than just adequately protected, far above and beyond. So if the Reds wanna fuck and find out, you're making damn sure they find out.

Notes:
  1. Seems the most appropriate, considering our recent haul at the box office.
  2. Seems time sensitive.
  3. Investing in the Azure Dragon Campus to spite the PRC, announcing to the world We Are Not Afraid of the petty regime.
    • Name was changed from Lunar Mansion to Azure Dragon to better align to a cultural cosmology theme.
    • Jackie Chan for obvious reasons.
    • And as we know that the CIA'll ask for a favor eventually, might as well benefit or preempt that favor. Changed to Security Team.
    • [EDIT2: @Schehera Zade 's argument in favor, as it much better articulates the position for.]
  4. Always be Batman.
  5. Making our home more secure is never a bad thing.
  6. Same as #5.
  7. Wanted to have this be the Walk action, but this seems more appropriate here; The Walk is literally just a day hike in the nearby mountains [an hour-and-half's drive], where we just enjoy fresh air with the family.
  8. Brandon is both due to the autopass, and the fact he's basically family.
  9. Bruce's Gym franchise for the same reasons as last time, ensuring that Bruce Lee's message and ideology spreads far and wide.
    • Seeing as the Gym pre-empts the Bruce Lee Foundation by 27 years, and our words to Linda, this is a natural extension of things that would have come, making now the time for expansion.
    • Lastly, is all the foundational pillars of the gym, as I honestly forgot that they hadn't been accomplished yet, and would like to have that part of the saga completed...but there's an additional reason, and that's that I want Part IV, Firearms and Weapons Training, to be fully completed and made a mandatory course for the actors and armorers that work on any of our productions [even the ones that aren't Lucasfilms] that involve the usage of dangerous weaponry and props. Given the events of the past year, I'm sure you know why that's a sticking point, and that this to prevent a tragedy of that caliber from occurring in this timeline, especially with Brandon under our wing.
  10. Expanding O'Reilly Foundation to a nationwide agency seems appropriate at this time, timeline wise, especially after the Convention.
  11. The Workout is, besides keeping our gains, helping train our cute students and strengthen the mind-body connection. [Yes, channel Kakashi...]
  12. This to get our back into the game, and to finally act besides a legend who helped us when we needed it the most; also, its about high time for Robin to be recognized for more than just his comedy.
Power Rangers can begin production, but not until 1987.

However, for every bit of power rangers update, the better the scripts become better.
Holy shit, thank you!
As there is an action next turn that does something like this...

+10 to that action.
Thank you!
As much as I want to choose #2, Imma hafta choose #3 m'lord!

[X] I think Bruce being HEMA Grandmaster has something to do with this (HEMA gains popularity).

---[X] Attempt to have a discrete, private conversation with Agent Jackson, where in exchange of keeping your honest workers (ie not any Red or Corpo spies) and their families safe from reprisal, you are willing to let the CIA use the Hong Kong Campus as a staging ground of sorts into Red China for their agents, as is your Patriotic Duty.
Dude, I am totally against this... Why risk so much for no gain besides the dumb satisfaction of starting a dick-measuring contest against China?

Let´s wait for a few years before trying this...

@Magoose What's the status of retaliation against China for the assassination attempt and the potential protections we could get from traveling to Hong Kong? Because I don't want Bruce to set a foot in that city without guarantees.
