Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I would argue that publishing (books) is a part of the movies/entertainment angle of the quest- certainly as much as comics are. Book rights are linked with television and movies (look at the reason Gump and Co. was intentionally horrible for an example of that) and are constantly mined for television and movies. Many of our own plans involved "getting movie rights for X". It just seems that, having become this large, it would be logical and efficient to cut out the middleman and get into publishing via Lucasfilm. Certainly we could be more supportive of authors that way and have a better relationship.
I disagree, mostly because getting the rights, and then passing a roll to get them, is one of the most fun aspects in my opinion. We never know if we'll succeed or not (like that time with Heinlein) which add more interesting options for the story in quest. I still maintain that is not necessary.

Pretty sure I remember that the thread also talked about getting involved later on in Reagan's Just Say No campaign along with Carrie.
I think it's time that we did some Charity actions toward helping mitigate drug abuse and drugs in the USA.

Oh god, don't remind me. 😫
Or when Madonna did that weird bath video thing, or when Vanessa Hudgens said "People are going to die, it's inevitable." in reference to Covid victims.

This can only be a net positive, and I wish Bruce was a real guy. :V

Perhaps we should not buy Apple, but get enough shares to get a seat on the Board. I think around 20 to 30 percent of shares should be enough.
Why? If we can buy a company outright why the hell we should not do it and settle for a 20% instead? At least we should go for 51% of the shares to get total control over it...

And @Magoose could you clarify wether we will get a bonus for the skill level of the lawyers of our future legal department if we spend 100 or 200 millions instead of 50 millions?

@Magoose If we spend more than 50 million dollars on the Legal Department, we will increase the quality of the lawyers hired?

Earlier Magoose said we needed 50 mil to make a legal department. Considering that we only spent 20 million on Dreamworks and now it's at the top of animation, I'd say we're fine with 50 mil.

You know I have something funny.

We might have prevented the manufactured movie star of the 80s and 90s because we're doing so much.

And that might be cool

What do you mean specifically by manufactured star and how did Bruce prevent that?

Also in regards to LucasTV, how are we gonna deal with that in the future? Have a future action dealing with selecting a leader or greenlighting new shows?

What I mean is, there will not be as many stars that are going to be...

Well, how should I say this without sounding like an asshole?

Less narcissistic, drugged-out, people are going to be looked for for their good looks and nothing else, and far more people are going to be scouted for other skills that will bring a far more diverse and talented set of people in Hollywood.

Expect the studios to be far stricter on their drug policies regarding cocaine, LSD and other fun stuff... Carrie has been doing some good work on that front same with Debbie.

(Expect Carrie's next book to detail ever struggle she has with that, and Bruce's almost unnatural support and strength to help her through it.)

Also, we might have helped kill the career of a certain... Hollywood slimeball, which will drastically change make Hollywood a better place to work.

If I have to spell it out for you, then, let it know Hollywood still has plenty of scumbags still around.

We'll be getting the choice to greenlight shows, and or hiring show runners.

Did we kill the dystopia of reality shows because they are freaking bad including the "Fixing" ones or "build you a new house" one where after the show you can't pay your taxes and have to sell it and be hated by the community

Yeah, but since we have more than enough money to spend on the legal department I would favor to spend 2-4 times that if we can get an awesome legal team...
We should absolutely make a push for anti-drug initiatives and drug rehab soon.
While I would love to see this work we would need to reverse decades of continuist policies in how the USA government has handle drugs...

Really a good reason why Drug problems are so terrible in USA is fir the lack of a proper health system (including rehabilitation centers) and drug policies that have been used many times as ways to opress and persecute dissidents and minorities (and the less we talk about Purdue Pharma the better) .
Less narcissistic, drugged-out, people are going to be looked for for their good looks and nothing else, and far more people are going to be scouted for other skills that will bring a far more diverse and talented set of people in Hollywood.
So we are causing that Hollywood will turn into something more similar to the British Actor/actress scene...

Cool, Cool...

Better not be DARE, though...shit backfired so, so hard.
I mean...we can always just do it better. There's nothing inherent to DARE that leads it to failure, so just putting more of our own money, focusing more locally, and getting better rolls etc would mean greater success. Plus, it's also just straight up in character. Bruce is already super heavily involved in humanitarian and charity work and is heavily anti-narcotics, so it's a natural progression for us to at least do something.
