Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I suggest that we rename the studio Sky Walker Studios. Or SWS for short. I wrote it like that because otherwise it'd have a rather unfortunate acronym. Or Skywalker Unlimited/ Skywalker Unlimited Studios. But the last one feels too SUS to use unironically.

What about Binary Suns? Because we're starting our company's legacy on Tatooine and our rolls are totally BS?

*in a good way

Any possibility of reaching out to Marvel to possibly adapt their properties, like Spider-Man, into shows, movies, etc. soon?
Or just buy Marvel outright after Star Wars? Jim Shooter is on the record saying how it was Star Wars comics which saved the company from going under in the 70s, which to me tells me that they may not be in the most stable situation now.

I'm really torn between whether or not to buy DC or Marvel, but I will say there's two benefits to Marvel. First off is that they are OTL's makers of the Star Wars comics and the comics are almost always bangers and highlights of the franchise in its lowest points. Not to mention Marvel Star Wars really helped to keep the franchise alive and vibrant between OT films. Second, if we buy Marvel then we can make Marvel films with the rights to all of the characters, meaning no sharing like the Disney-Sony deal and we can have cool ass stuff like Spidey hanging out with the Fantastic Four or the X-Men showing up in an Avengers movie. Also buying Marvel vibes really nice with our Japan alliance considering Japanese Spiderman is about to be made and that show was responsible for inspiring modern Super Sentai.

I've already made it clear that I'm against purchasing DC and especially against Marvel and will be pushing against it as much as I can, but as an aside, I do want to say that I really don't want to do movies for Marvel or DC properties. Nothing against acting in them, but there's no way in hell I want us to be producing them. I already know that it'll inevitably lead to the desire to make a MCU or DCEU and I really don't want to end up doing that because it's going to dominate the oxygen space for the quest, especially since we already have producer quests on here and Spacebattles for those(Seriously, I know this has me more heated than it should and that I'm being kind of petty about it, but it definitely annoys me that it's Overmind making the main push to purchase Marvel considering he is literally running a Marvel Producer Quest already). I've already outlined my previous arguments for why Charlton Comics would be a superior option to either DC or Marvel and will do so again when the Warner purchases come up, but if that doesn't happen, I would straight up just rather not have any of them.

I don't really want to do a full comics universe of films until the 2000's so we have a consistent high quality in special effects and we can have some of the more fun elements of modern comics like the Spiderverse be able to play a role. If we do purchase DC or Marvel, there's no reason that Bruce has to be the producer of every single one of those films. At this point, next year we are going to chose films for our Directors to do and that means that there's going to be 3-5 other films being worked on without Bruce's involvement beisdes maybe writing the checkbooks. I don't see any reason why we can't do that with our comics movies and have a Kevin Feige or James Gunn like figure be the head of the cinematic universe and in charge of planning and Bruce's only involvement is maybe starring in one of the films or producing and directing a series for a single superhero or team. Bruce is a co-owner of Lucasfilms with only George above him. Bruce being required to produce every single superhero film is like Bob Iger micromanaging the MCU. Neither Bob Iger nor Bob Chapek were required to produce every single film of Disney's subsidiaries, I think Bruce is gonna be in a similar position.

I'm just sick of Marvel and DC media due to oversaturation in recent times. So if we buy a comic publisher I want to focus on new fresh things instead of superhero movie nr.58 and TV serie nr.26. So why don't we invest in to an animation studio?

Or we can force them to go into other pulp genres like westerns, and other stuff that is lacking in American comics

NGL I have an idea in my mind where Stan Lee goes to Japan to negotiate the rights to their Spiderman show, and because of Lone Wolf and Cub he starts to read some manga and seeing the vast diversity of the medium and how Japan doesn't have to pump out Superhero stories, Stan gains some inspiration to diversify Marvel and make stories separate from the universe or just stories that have nothing to do with Superheroes at all.

The best part about purchasing DC or Marvel is that they will no longer be beholden to stockholders and the totalitarian Editors won't have supreme power, they'll answer to us. And as long as they make money and don't pull insane shit like One More Day they'll have the freedom to experiment and branch out.

That may be true, but will the other players accede to that? I doubt it. To be perfectly frank, I don't trust the other players to not try and directly involve themselves with such an endeavor and like Nova_kaiser said, at the end of the day, I'm just fucking sick of it all.
Honestly? I'm hoping to get either Stan Lee or one of my oc's in charge of all that. They'll call Bruce if they want him in one of their shows/movies, but they want full control of what they're making.

Because they've got some big plans, especially for one Spider-Man...

Or we can invest in a animation studio. I've already posted that there is way more money in there then in comics. Plus I'm afraid that comics is going to take away oxygen and space from this quest.

And thus we fall into exactly the issue I was talking about, and that me and Overmind actually discussed during our back and forth about what comic company to purchase. Doing something like what you suggest would be involving ourselves far too much into running the comics company as opposed to just having them as a subsidiary. Overmind misunderstood what I had said and thought this was what I was pushing for, but it's not. What you're describing is micromanaging the company, specifically outlining vetoing stories or hovering over the shoulders of editors. Shit that's the job of the Editors or Editor-in-Chief. I can't support something like this and it's comments like this that outline exactly why I don't trust the thread and that makes me wary of purchasing any comic company at all and low-key hoping we roll low on the Warner purchase. It's not out of malice or anything, but it's clear that people are going to get far too enthusiastic and it's going to take up too much space in the quest. Hell, Orion specifically talked about structuring a potential comics arm as not concerned with making money and simply having us subsidize their existence, like Google does with YouTube. That isn't the mindset of someone who isn't going to overly involve themselves and is willing to allow them to operate independently.
