woah I think the ogre earned a new Bigname, Dragonsnapper?
Eh. Was more of an execution than a real achievement. Frederick will obviously get the name Caledor's Bane Bane.

Meanwhile, on Caledor:
"How did this human defeat a Dragon and its rider, who felled so many of our brethren?"

"I hear he did beep to its beep and then stuck his beep into the Dragon's beep until its beep was flowing out of its beep! One of the Everqueen's Handmaidens composed a heroic tale around this epic fight!"

[X] Unleash the Martyrs, and Stand at the Gates!

I have no problems with this plan. I'm especially excited to finally get to use the suicide bomber Flagellants honestly. Give the Drucchi a taste of their own medicine.

Welp of we have to gain a traith from that fight i say we call it "I did it on a gryphon"…
Jokes aside talking about the beast tide, coordinating with the manchild extraordinair Guntar would probably smoot things a bit on our end.
Also @torroar do we have many bird bombers available?

While I agree with most points of @Massgamer reasoning I think it would be better to Stand at the gates with our brother, if only because with Tullaris Dreadbringer in the field, the best way that both Frederick and Urgig come out of this alive is by facing him together (and let's face it, the gates are very likely to get breached)

[X] Unleash the Martyrs, and Stand at the Gates!
-[X] Release the Flagellants onto the enemy as the elites attempt to advance to reach the Final Wall of Salkalten, then let the cavalry follow behind to wreak havoc before retreating back through the gates
-[X] Focus on the enemy artillery that is now present on the battlefield
-[X] Re-task the Eonir to focusing on the flyers to support the Whitewings and Oskana+Natasha with their superior accuracy ensuring no chance of friendly fire
-[X] Stand at the gates to fight if they are opened or broken through, which carries its own dangers

Well, that was another amazing fight. The tenacity and fury of that Druchii was notable and shined through; you were on screen for just two updates, Maranith, but you really got across what you were about you winged menace. You had lots of metal and lots of mettle. Too much metal to survive in fact, especially at the end.

Getting on top of the dragon and fighting on top of it, I was 'expecting.' Realistically, it's something that is actually hard to pull off and fight as. Boarding a dragon and also not falling off is, despite what video games or adventure novels might show us, not simple or easy. But the ice chains I was not expecting and were a surprise. A logical way to make the dragonback fight possible and feasible (rather than just "yeah you can just nail that aerial intercept and then fight on a flying monster like you're a goddamn elf--oh hi Kerillian").

Also we got so lucky with our 6 rolls coming in clutch, holy moly. (So did Maranith once, but fair enough. Also, dude would not quit.) We got both an attack save and a spell save. I wonder. If we'd rolled better on the "Distracted Frederick" roll, would we have been able to redirect that sucker punch at Tullaris? Or would we 'just' not have had to depend on a 1-in-6-chance-to-practice-your-"stop drop and roll"-routine to save us?)

Looks like we won the two hero battles -- Frederick's party versus Maranith, and Roland's group versus Death Hag -- but lost the Archers vs Dragons one. Shame that our artillery and ground fight went really badly; that was the reason we were launching into the air for, after all. To prevent the dragons from ruining our assets and supporting the Druchii assault. Ah well. At least we're still alive, and scored some morale and fame points among the elves (and our own defenders too) for literally impaling Caledor's Bane on his own lance.

Is that magic spear useable on Oskana-back (or horseback for that matter) or, uh, is it too warped and Dhar-y or malevolent to be just looted and used and should be destroyed the way we destroyed the small Druchii ships for the Cult of Manann? It would have been nice if we could use it against the 3rd dragon, or against a fearsome warbeast, from Oskana-back... but if we can't we can't.

Is that Sky Panoply on the Black Dragon lootable? Or is it Twisted Druchii Stuff as well? (That is if it isn't ruined from the crash, that is.) Maybe the Asur would like it, or maybe it'd make for a fancy trophy, or something. Or maybe it just gets burnt or disenchanted to purify it and make it safe.
@torroar can we have one of our casters recharge Light of Summer?
I was actually thinking that myself -- Sunweaver (or was it Naieth?) had recharged it before... though admittedly that was by using a magic acorn I think.
In case anyone cares, the music that played the most while writing the majority of this was the metal remix of Magic Spear/Daredevil from Ace Combat by the Tiberium Sons. You know, intense aerial combat involving lots of flips/spins/dives/ascensions.

<snip>
Ooh, thanks for the music!

One thing I'd forgotten to do when writing up my post in the previous update was to include the fact that I was using the Kraken theme from Pirates of the Caribbean as well as parts of the "Maelstrom battle" tune when reading about the approach of the Black Arks. I quoted the parts of your post I intended to react to, and then completely forgot to write and link the music, doh.

I really hope this heroic and breath taking epic gets sung in the Court of the Phoenix King.

It will be the epic of the age.

...the enemy leader is the Supreme Sorceress. She commands the Black Ark aligned to Ghrond. Maranith commanded the Black Ark aligned with Clar Karond and the Goddess Anath Raema. Tullaris Dreadbringer commands the Executioners, an elite force yes but not the entire army of Druchii.
Oh. My bad. I guess I just assumed the guy giving the speech was the enemy leader. Seems I sort of forgot one of the Arks would be commanded by a sorceress.

Whoops! Still might have been funny if he took a blast to the face after that speech though.

You've got the flocks. They haven't taken much damage, IIRC?

would we have been able to redirect that sucker punch at Tullaris

Frederick knew that Tullaris would have just stepped back behind cover, he was using one of the largest remaining chunks of the fifth wall as such. So he returned to sender who he knew was definitely not expecting it.

As for the lance, it's possible to use it again, but it's sort of currently in use atm. The dragon's special throne-saddle thing is sort of broken, as far as Frederick saw. Additionally, currently Sunweaver's daughter, aka the younger Sunweaver, is your best possible magical counter to the Supreme Sorceress, and it would vastly exhaust her to try and fully rejuvenate the Light of Summer at this time.

iterally impaling Caledor's Bane on his own lance.

Fun fact: in the Total War Warhammer games there's a lance the Druchii can get called Caledor's Bane, so not only did Freddie impale the Dreadlord on his own lance, he impaled him with the lance that shares his very same deed-name!

Here's its fluff text: A dire lance, etched with the fiery blood of Dragons. It is much feared by High Elf Princes from the realm of Caledor.

[X] Unleash the Martyrs!

Well that was exciting! Overall I think we did fine killed 2/3'ds of there dragons and riders and our Troops where able to mostly retreat back to the next wall. Though we lost a good chunk of our mercenary's but well to be honest they where always more expendable then the rest of our army so no big deal there.

And I also do not believe that the dreadlord actually killed Eldyra cause if that was the case Tyrion would be coming for the dreadlords head and nothing would stop him. Most likely it's a ploy to piss off Fredrick and make a mistake somewhere. And anyways I wouldn't believe a Dark elf no matter what since well they can't really be trusted now can they.

Apologies for possibly ruining the joke, but do you mean the fact it's being used as a monument to Maranith's defeat?

And if I might ask, have the tanks been deployed yet, or are we keeping them in reserve/not in melee?

Pretty sure the end of the update mentioned that IC, Frederick does not know the placement or status of most of his forces. Not enough time to get an exhaustive report of his remaining assets.

[X] Unleash the Martyrs, and Stand at the Gates!

If Tullaris Dreadbringer himself is on the field and is coming for our head I want to have Urgdug nearby. Sadrina will likely be there too which will help a lot. No way we can take him in a one on one.

Also it means that we're not so obvious a target for the enemy's sorceries.
