Oh. So... the QMS has the 5% crit fail chance on it?

Back to the drawing boards, everyone! Nystical, you might want to put the Doof personal on handling that to avoid the +5% crit fail chance?
Hmm, so with the Sycorax Collab, the bonus of the action is either
Amara + Amara Hero + Doof or Doof Hero

By spending a Doof personal we can have Doof do the action instead of QMS, which means we could have them do the diplo agreement action and Kermit could do the lobby action. Moseby would be freed up to do a personal action (or to add him to the quest), with the main negative thing being delaying the Malf chat, but we'd have Janna and Kitsune around to do occult actions in the meantime, and we were probably already going to wait until after the Negaduck stuff to recruit a mage, so the delay on actually talking to him isn't a big deal for now.

Or we could simply put Lizzy on the Collab, and have the quest be Janna + Kitsune + QMS, saving a fund from not having to hire Marco.

So, right now I'm debating between

A) Leave it the way it is.
B) Doof personal to do the collab, QMS on diplo, Moseby does personal. Plus, this means Doof gets to visit San Fransokyo, seeing Vanessa and just in time to support Norm's choices, even if he's a hero.
C) Lizzy on the collab, Doof chats with Malf this turn, QMS on Quest with Janna and Kitsune. Dennis does a personal or maps ley lines.
D) Lizzy on the Collab, Kitsune and Janna doing occult actions, so they get free personal this turn from retreat, and have Kitsune, Janna, Lizzy and Marco hang out via personals instead of the quest. QMS, Tobe, and Dennis go on the quest for the DOI or the Wasteland instead of Feldrake, saving 1 funds from not having to pay Marco.

I'm leaning towards B for now. Making the edit to my prior post.

So with the new change
  • Our diplo becomes much more likely to succeed
  • Doof visits San Fran and Vanessa (and Norm)
  • Removed 5% CF chance (assuming Doof's 4% trait wouldn't have applied because it wasn't our action)
  • Moseby gets a guaranteed personal if Monogram flubs the retreat

This sounds the best to me. Doof can still chat with Malf and if Janna and Kitsune are free they can get Celena and hire magical people this turn.

Lizzy specifically is the one who would be the 'suited' hero unit for that action.
So, uh. What exactly is Lizzy's specialty? It's not actually listed, and not particularly obvious to me, at least.

You're getting it wrong. That wasn't my question. My question was if we could just leave the learning action without a hero assigned to it. Just that. Nothing more. The answer to which is that we would need to spend a Doof personal.

Collab actions are best of king/hero. Doof is omnidisciplinary and Lizzy is specialized here, so we're just comparing learning stats. Doof has 38 Learning and Lizzy has 32 Learning. So should Lizzy be the hero put on the action, it is Doof's bonus that would apply to the roll. If Ludivine wasn't a Councilor and we assigned her to the action, her bonus would be applied rather than Doof's.
I feel like you're talking past Nystical? None of that really changes things?

B) Doof personal to do the collab, QMS on diplo, Moseby does personal.
This feels like the best option. Anything else changes too much, and doing the DoI without either Monogram or Russ feels weird.

Put me in the camp of wanting to Chat with Malf this coming turn. I think I'd want to go with C) the most. I'd want Russ to be on the DoI Quest next turn, so that's D) out, and although I'm fine with leaving it the way it is I suppose swapping Lizzy to the collab so we're less likely to critfail would be better. At the same time, the increased critfail chance is only 5%, right? So there's only a 1/20 chance that assigning Lizzy to the action meaningfully changes the outcome from critfail to regular fail. I'd be fine risking that to have a more synergistic Quest lineup this turn.

B would be my thing. I'd prefer to save the DOI quest for later, and I want Monogram and Russ on it. And Moseby doing something like Interacting with the Toons sounds fun. I'm just hoping the Quest goes smoothly enough that our resident Toon expert is on-hand for the attack...

Remember the hint from the QMs we got back at the Gala? We need to make sure the Marcnificent Few hang out more to keep them as a group.
Ooh good point. In that case, D.

Probably better we get them to bond first, fight together later.

the two let's get dangerous plans seem the best to me, though I would have thought that the main point of waiting to summon Celena would be talking to Malf now so we can hopefully do it next turn or at least have an idea of how to minimise issues

[] [Corporate Actions] Sell silphium (1 funds)
--[] [Corporate Actions] Franchise Wars: Address the competition (1 funds)
--[] [Corporate Actions] Hold a Powerline concert (+3 funds)
I'm probably going to put forth a variant of this plan where instead of doing Franchise Wars, we get Alan to sell Doc Hopper's, ensuring that next turn, we can give him a Talk with the Bossman just as he completes his capstone action, and switch out the Address the Competition corporate for Market Research, so we can get ready to invest in other areas.

(And talk to Malf this turn)

Haptic Interfaces doesn't appease the Board, and I don't want to risk the chance that Solanacae fails.
I was under assumption that research silphium action is enough to satisfy board. You take it under corporate action so I don't see a problem here. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
This would definitely help mollify Malf, at the cost of making all the council members who want things and haven't been causing problems to start looking at a new paradigm of 'if I whine, I get things'.
@Arathnorn What If the title is not entirely meaningless and we chalk bunch of additional responsibility on Malf with it? My thoughts is that it would prevent other council members from trying to whine to get things. And if they are willing to shoulder additional responsibilities or make some compromises to get what they want then they are welcome to it.

As such would it be valid write-in for example:

[]Chat with bossman (Malf)
-[] Write-in: Offer Malf the Ruler of Mystic Doofania position. His job, if he accepts, would be to strengthen and develop Doofania magical community by offering relevant to it actions to the council (wards alongside the Mystic Doofania border, life conditions improvements for magical creatures, encouraging magical immigration and so on.) He is also expected to work with other members of magical community and acquire their approval as any other modern ruler should strive for. Due to this Malf is strongly encouraged to ask for advice on the modern rulership from other hero units but he is allowed to present their ideas as his own. Make clear that Celena is not his competition for position and hint that she would be capable advisor should he be able to cooperate with her.

I somehow don't think Malf is well-suited for this role...

I'd reccomend against doof on the collab, entirely because of the PA and us needing to do several actions. Im also gonna need to crunch some numbers for Lizzy.

With XP Lizzy gets a 99% success chance, 1% crit fail, which is 4% better then QMS.

If we give Malf authority over Celena then he will abuse her and she won't stand up for herself.

If we don't give Malf authority over Celena then he is going to be upset we are doing magic he doesn't approve of when he is supposed to be our magic mentor.

There isn't an easy solution.

Best I can think of is keeping Malf as official Doof's magic mentor and making Celena an official magic mentor of someone else like Janna or Gomez.

I am really against trying to bribe him with a honorary position or something like that.

Let's just chat with him. See what he thinks. Find out if he can work with others. If he even likes being a counselor. Maybe we can find out what he actually wants to do.

I'm hopeful everything goes okay but if he hates the idea of working with others lets just be honest with him that he's probably not a good fit for the councilor position. But what would he want to do instead?

Have Roddy spruce up the castle a bit and do magical experiments, happy just to interact with people and never having to go back to Drusselstein? (Become a second inator type result each turn for minor boosts/malice or flavor.)

Be a magical advisor that can give advice or assistance if he feels like it but doesn't have to do anything he doesn't feel like or have any official responsibilities? (No longer a hero unit but provides a small bonus to certain occult actions and provides flavor)

Create a magical/haunted training area for our heros where he can throw whatever he can think of at them while they try and reach a goal, laughing maniacally all the while? (Provides a trait like Max. A random Hero gets a plus or minus because of the training)

Go back to being a regular hero?

What does he want to do?

Idea is that he either accomplish necessary character growth and creates actually working Magic Doofania or he fails and we either give up on idea or give this position to someone else. We only promise not to give this position to Celena, anyone else would still be a valid candidate if Malf fails.

I agree with giving Malf as many options as possible to choose from:
-He stays occult councilor but agrees to cooperate with other magicians and work on building magic community
-We equip his castle with giant robot legs and laser turrets. Make him our martial councilor after he seriously boosts his martial and place someone else on occult councilor position.
-Any of your suggestions if he is prefer to relinquish his current position.

I am not suggesting giving him a bribe, I am more for carrot and stick approach. After summoning Celena seems like a good time to talk to him. Or right before it, but making clear that we still go with summoning in either case. Either he change his behavior and gets something nice after working for it or he will eventually lose his councilor position

This plan balances our priorities to achieve our critical objectives.
*Updated the plan name, and a few of the below arguments from last time to account for the optimizations from last night.

First, it does the general Negaduck preparations such as bunkers and security tunnels via Lizzy getting wings and NOWCA doing the retreat. It also focuses a PA on maximizing our chances on Negaduck so we can prepare for the specific villain attack and invests in healthcare (see next point). We need to know who to prepare for, as a lot of these preparation actions have massive drawbacks, cost a ton of money, will make us look insane, or are just plain wastes of actions which are in extremely limited supply. Plus, doing this allows us to do special preparation actions that are better than our current crop of options to save as many lives as possible.

Second, it does the cybernetic for funds in our pocket right now, and the combination of cybernetics, curing diseases, and silphium to ensure the board is pleased and to give us a huge amount of investment in healthcare which should be really beneficial for both us and others in the wake of Negaduck's attack.

Third, it continues to advance our interests in dinosaurs and AI by finishing those two actions, and also works towards setting up a lobby which could help AI stuff in the future. Furthermore, for those that want the other Sycorax collaboration options of haptic interfaces or the pheromone control, plus other potential options from Bakaemono or Funtelligence, this plan also reaches out to another research agreement with the Zaibatsu so we can follow up with another collab with them next turn.

Fourth, it advances the feldrake plotline which is bound to give us some interesting benefits and rewards and Feldrake's claims of an "army" could be interesting. Plus it gives further potential for increased stats for Janna, Lizzy, Marco, Kitsune, and Dennis, especially with the retreat going on as well for an extra personal action.

Fifth, Occult. Based on all the arguments we've heard so far, I think this turn we're deciding between Hunt Magical Creatures, Ley Lines, or Golumetric, as Celena is too dangerous to risk right away, recruit magical individuals seems slightly less risky than Celena but still a potentially risky action and the other actions don't seem as valuable right now or are too difficult to achieve. I think because Janna and Kitsune will be available next turn, this turn we should have Tobe hunt for magical creatures and have Doof and Malf work together on the Ley lines action, and next turn we could do Golumetric with Janus's negotiation and another useful occult action, along with chatting with Malf next turn. Because the crisis is ~2 turns away, delaying the chat by a single turn isn't a big deal because we would want to recruit a mage, potentially pissing of Malf, after Negaduck rather than before or during.

Sixth, With Doof making a visit to SF, he can visit Vanessa and check on Norm's status as a hero, which could be fun. Plus, now that he's recognized as himself and not just a pharmacist, it could be fun to see how he's perceived in a place outside of Doofania, especially a place like San Fransokyo. This frees up QMS to do the research agreement which makes a lot more sense due to their high learning score, and allows Kermit to go to Washington!

Seventh, it gives the Telekinesis talisman to Kitsune as I figure if Russ is in a position to use telekinesis, he's already screwed, and I'd rather not give Negaduck two talismans. However, I would be willing to remove this line at people's request. Russ will still keep the mindscape talisman just in case. Plus, Kitsune could potentially use the telekinesis to help move LOOT from Feldrake's temple!

If you want to vote for this plan, your post should look like this:

I have my doubts about not giving Russ Telekinesis, giving him the Dream one, and using our right of first refusal, i'm considering going in with ENCOM, but, then, Alan is not entirely loyal to us...

I like your plan Nystical, but I'd love to have Kermit collab with the Imagination Institute. It's a government outfit so should show our willingness to work with them, the options were more unique and interesting than the Zaibatsu, and most importantly, we know two muppets are working there!

Personally I'd put Cruella on Lobby, QMS on infiltrating the chip company, and Kermit on forming a research agreement with the Imagination Institute
