one intrigue action from Monogram as a floating hero like LOVEMUFFIN used to be
We can also have Monogram do a martial action or stewardship action (or any other action next turn of course as they are locked in this turn). He only has 4 less martial than intrigue, and 7 less stewardship than intrigue... let me do the math.

Marital: 21+17+2+10 = 50
Diplomacy: 18+9+1+10 = 39
Stewardship: 24+14+2+10 = 50
Intrigue: 18+21+3+10 = 52
Learning: 38+9+1+10 = 58

Actually, adding in Doof's stats and loyalty, his martial and stewardship is a LOT closer to his intrigue modifier than I first thought. And his learning modifier his higher but there aren't much low DC learning actions left where it would be appropriate.

Perhaps having NOWCA do exotic vehicles, it could fit narratively extremely well as they have experience creating spy vehicles for varying sizes and shapes of animals that can also be operated by said animals. With a modifier of +58 on a DC 70 action they just need to roll a 12.

We don't want to run into the LOVEMUFFIN problem, though. Yes, we can use them occasionally for other things, but we should keep them mostly on Intrigue.

And martial. Mostly martial and intrigue with some deviations only if the action is narratively appropriate.

I believe Exotic Vehicles is appropriate for them. It would also serve as a way to upgrade their equipment.

I doubt exotic vehicles is a way to upgrade NOWCA's equipment. The animal suits? Sure, absolutely.

But I don't see exotic vehicles really covering NOWCA. In any case I would prefer to put Janus Lee on it.

Roddy is grounded, capable of coping with nonsense and even making a living out of it, but he is not directly part of the nonsense. That covers a lot of the preferences we know of Max. I'd say that it lacks the cool factor, but Roddy makes supervillain lairs, so there is also some cool there, even if it is not the suave and sophisticated angle he saw in Russ.

Yeah, I think that Max and Roddy could be compatible.

Well, i'm convinced

[X] Plan: In Mork We Trust v3

If that is your only consideration, my plan also has Max work with Roddy.

Huh, guess i missed it when catching up with thread. My bad.

I wouldn't say it's my only consideration, but more like, i generally agree with most of the plan, but wasn't 100% onboard, and the quoted argument was like a final nail in the coffin for me to agree with plan.

I probably should had elaborated more when i decided to support it.

I will compare the two plans and see which one i think is best.

--[] [Intrigue] Hold A Security Seminar (Tobe) - Executive Priorities
--[] [Intrigue] Conduct A Security Sweep (Dickens Detective Agency - Small)
Have you considered putting Tobe on the Security Sweep with Executive Priorities and the Dickens on the Seminar? They'd simply need more than 15 Intrigue to beat him out there.

Also, if you're putting Max with Roddy, it makes more sense to go with Doofenshmirtz Evil Megamarts, since Max worked at one. Furthermore, given it's a redesign of a large building, it does seem slightly more up Roddy's alley.

There is an argument for keeping our important intel stuff in-house, but I guess there is also an argument for not leaving the design of said important intel stuff in the hands of idiots.

Quoting from the stuff I wrote there...

Of the low DC options, my preference is still Smarty Mart, because a 15 point difference is a bit daunting in these circumstances. That said, there is a significant opportunity cost with Corporate Restructuring, so it probably is worth attempting.

That said, I hadn't considered the Max angle. We still have most of a day before voting starts, so let me think about it.

Research Agreement and Collaboration Track-Inator!

I figure if we're going to start making agreements and collaborating we should keep track of old options to get a sense of what is available.

Research Agreements
[ ] Study Emergent Robotics
DC 160

Wendy Wower is already vibrating gently with desire to continue her phenomenal breakthrough in sentient robotics. At this point though, she thinks she could benefit greatly from a soft science approach.

(Reward: Increased understanding of Artificial Intelligence Genesis)

[ ] Examine Doofenshmirtz
DC 110

It occurs to you that with Doofenshmirtz literally frozen into a block of ice, you could potentially take the chance to examine what actually makes the man tick. This probably isn't what Dr. Mercurial meant when he asked to 'pick Doof's brain', but…

(Reward: Better understanding of what goes on inside Doofenshmirtz's head, blatant invasion of privacy (maybe you can ask him first???), ???)

[ ] Codify the Orthodox-Channing Fields Theory
DC 190

Dr. Nigel Channing is apparently 'close' to a monumental breakthrough in the field of imaginative life. As this is not your field of expertise, you cannot qualify the accuracy of that statement.

(Reward: Understanding of how unusual lifeforms come into being.)

[ ] Study the Anthrofictus vivimag
DC 150

The study of the humble Toon is fraught with challenge and complexity, as the species seems to actively resist classification and the Animator's Guild hoards their knowledge. Rediscovering their creation could be a great boon, not least to the Toons themselves.

(Reward: Gain an understanding of the creation of Toons.)

[ ] Search for Living Toys
DC 140

There is one… scientist? In the II who has a somewhat unusually obsessive fixation on the theory of living toys. She posits that they 'come to life' when people aren't watching and can act of their own volition. And by 'posit,' we mean 'actively advocates for it and carries around a stuffed lamb'. You're not certain as to the applications of this… but it sounds like the sort of thing Doofenshmirtz would want.

(Reward:???)

[ ] Cure genetic diseases I

DC 160

While Jumba has apparently done a lot of work on the subject of curing human genetic diseases, working with Sycorax on the matter is a whole other kettle of fish. Apparently they don't like the idea of you doing all the research in-house without things like 'peer review' or 'FDA approval'. Working together with them will take some time to make sure that you're doing everything by the book, and while you won't be curing anything overnight you'll surely engender some goodwill and money from your efforts.

(Reward: Income and public opinion increases, further genetics options unlocked)

[ ] Research AI
DC 150

Trevor Trengrove's stupidly-named "Funtelligence" system still manages to outperform all but your most advanced instances of doppelganger tech, and you're not quite sure what's up with that. Despite his many eccentricities Trengrove is interested in pushing things even further, inching towards an AI that can truly pass the Turing test without being an anomaly like TECHNOR or Sinatron. Given that you haven't had much success with AI on your own, maybe it'll pay to have some help on this one?

[ ] Research esoteric transportation initiatives
DC 150

Bakaemono's CEO quietly revealed to you a few plans they had for a technology that would revolutionize shipping and transport the world over. Though they weren't ready to go public with this yet, you got the impression that Ms. Silverman was interested in making a push to new fields, given that the board of Bakaemono seems to have eased up as of late.

[ ] Develop cloaking technology
DC 140

Bakaemono has quite a few plans for cloaking technology intended for use on their military drones. Based on the initial specs you can see that it's pretty sophisticated stuff- it might even measure up to what the GalFed is using! They still need to complete some research in making sure that it's man-portable and power efficient, and that's where they're hoping that you'll be able to assist.

-[ ] Develop the most scientifically perfect carbonated beverage
DC 130

Funtelligence's last foray into the world of soft drinks didn't go very well at all, with most people describing the concoction as 'foul', 'unholy', or 'proof that true evil exists in this world.' Sounds great to you! However, Trevor Trengrove's latest proposal took even you aback with its sheer triviality- he said that your two companies should collaborate to produce a perfect beverage! While this is a little odd coming from the man who apparently invented modern AI, the idea does have some merit, and it's not like DEI doesn't already make weirder...
[ ] Research super-drugs
DC 130
The offerings of the Middleton Drug Cartel are as fascinating as they are impractical! Temporary, (relatively) safe superpowers in a bottle are a difficult temptation for anyone to pass up, ranging from temporary flight, enhanced cognition, or just shooting lightning out of your fingertips while cackling like a madman. It might be useful to take a closer look at how these things work and see how efficiently they could be replicated- it would be a shame to let such resources go to waste, once the Cartel inevitably burns itself out…

Outcome: +4 funds, our standing in ['Pharmaceuticals'] will increase, option to develop our own superpowered drugs

The Board will be pleased.

[ ] Research biomechanical interfaces
DC 140
Cyberbiotics' recent push in commercial cybernetics has shown there's a much wider interest than we initially considered. Full-on production of cybernetic augmentations is impractical at this point in time, we lack the knowledge or the manufacturing capabilities to start, but research on advanced biomechanical interfaces is a lot more workable. Refining the interface between man and machine could not only help to further the field but also put us in a position to make a lot of money.

Outcome: +4 funds, our standing in [Healthcare] will increase, options for the New Man project expand

The Board will be pleased.

[ ] Research kaijus
DC 140
There's a kaiju attack on a coastal city every year or so, with the approximate frequency of a bad hurricane and the casualties to match. While the governments of the world have done some research of these monstrosities, a real in-depth look as to what makes them tick has eluded science thus far.

Outcome: ???, Kaiju forecasts. Mirage notes this is a potential in to the National Defense industry despite our reviled status.

[ ] Research advanced haptic interfaces (Formerly animal uplink suits)
DC 120
This is similar in concept to Lizzy's proposal for 'animal uplink suits', in that it's a system to allow a more cohesive interface between a pilot and the device they're controlling. Powered exoskeletons currently used by the army require synchronized movement by the wearer whereas this system could allow them to pilot remotely. There is also the less practical but far more awesome (Coyote agrees) upside of paving the path for giant mecha in the future.

Outcome: +2 Funds, our standing in [Robotics] increases, options to (eventually) research mecha

[ ] Research advanced pheromone control
DC 140
Lizzy's proprietary method of controlling her ant colonies is pheromone based, allowing for crude manipulation of hives within a limited range- incredibly impressive for work she's developed herself if far from a truly massive scale. Sycorax's proposal aims to think bigger, proposing means by which insects can be manipulated to new ends. Imagine driving away locusts before they can consume crops or turning swarms of bees to areas in need of pollination!

Outcome: ???, our standing in [Food/Agriculture] increases, Lizzy gains +5 to Martial

Olympia

[ ] Improve Recycling Programs
DC 45

A big part of being Greevil is learning to reduce, reuse and recycle. You've already made changes to your personal life by repurposing several of your old Inators, but in order to improve things nationwide you're going to have to give people some guidance on what proper recycling practices are. You've got it! Talking trash cans!

(Rewards: Contributes to overall Greevil image, slightly increases income as processes become more efficient, every third trashcan is given a helpful AI)

[ ] Study Diecast Robotics
DC 130

Coyote and friends brought back a few scrapped robots from that terrible wasteland over in the Rust Belt. While their electronics are completely unrecoverable (you haven't seen that level of corrosion in electronics since… ever, really) you think you can still get some use out of them. According to the debriefing you read, there were thousands upon thousands of these things, seemingly churned out with little care or effort. While mass-producing a metal shell is certainly not beyond your capability, studying the little things seems to imply that the entire robot came out of the same one-press mold. That kind of efficiency could do wonders to your own supply lines, if you can just figure out how it works!

(Reward: Slight income increase from efficiency improvements, reduced DC of robotics-related actions)

[ ] Develop a new social media platform
DC 140

ENCOM's 'The Grid' is firmly entrenched in the public consciousness, but Olympia believes there's still some room for a rival to appear.

[ ] Collaborate on a new OS
DC 130

DoofOS is… not doing well, to say the least, and Olympia wants nothing to do with it. They did display some interest in creating a new OS from scratch, at least, though Mirage has a feeling that's more of an attempt to get you in on their big super plans than it is real enthusiasm. You'd have to do some finagling on your own time to make sure it's reverse compatible with DoofOS, but on the bright side you'll have some much-needed fresh blood working on your computer systems, and Alan would no longer die inside every time he glanced at your sourcecode.

[ ] Lobby to legalize bot fights
DC 120

Bot fighting is the hottest thing on the west coast, despite being so illegal that dozens of people are busted for it every week. Your Olympian contacts are certain that this could be overcome- in time, at least- with a bit of lobbying in the right places. It's a natural desire for them, considering just how much money and goodwill Olympia stands to make selling Omnidroids and sponsoring the resultant deathmatches. It wouldn't be as flashy as some of the other projects you're dreaming up, but bot fighting is much loved in central California, and having your company behind the movement is sure to garner some good will.

[ ] Sponsor a cape
DC 75

Olympia is gearing up for a big push against the SRA, and there's no better way to show your support than by jointly sponsoring a cape with their help! Since you're pretty sure that super-related stuff is what they really want to work with you on, this might really make them happy!

[ ] Write-In

You will have to justify it in keeping with the company's interests as a telecoms, robotics and heroes corporation. Olympia does not want to make their supply lines reliant on Toons.
[ ] Establish the Titans Wrestling Federation (Diplomacy)
DC 100

A few facts have recently become clear. First: Supers are very popular right now. Second: Olympia is practically the public face of superheroes, although they would very much like to shore up that position. And finally: There are a fair number of superpowered individuals out there who don't, for whatever reason, want to use their powers to put themselves in actual danger. This leads you to a great idea: Super Wrestling. A special wrestling league for Supers (or anyone brave enough to throw down with them) to show off their awesome powers and ham up their acting to the cheering of an adoring crowd. Maybe you'll even be able to get a few actual caped crusaders to make guest appearances. Your sources inform you that similar events are already popping up in quasi-legal fight pits around the country, but this would be on the level, on the books, safety-first and televised across DevTech telecomms to an adoring crowd!

Outcome: Wrestling established, +4 Funds, your standing in [Mass Media] will increase.

[ ] Study Diecast Robotics (Stewardship)
DC 130

The state of the robots recovered from the Midwest Exclusion Zone suggest a proprietary method to mass-produce robots both quickly and cheaply, with all the quality that implies. It will take some research to figure out the specifics of the method, but putting it into practice will greatly accelerate our supply lines if we're willing to sacrifice quality for quantity.

Outcome: Slight income improvement, significantly improved standing in [Advanced Robotics]. Major investors are likely anticipating competition from us in this field. We should expect pushback of some sort.

[ ] The Golden Oldies (Diplomacy)
DC 90

Sinatron has a passion project he'd like to present; dusting off some of the old classics Frankie crooned out or acted in back in the day, and spruce them up for modern consumption. Keep the spirit of the things intact, but do a bit of light re-editing here and there, release remastered originals too for the history buffs. It probably won't be making you blockbuster money, but he has a vested interest in playing to brand.

Reward: +2 Funds; The public will become slightly more receptive to old, nostalgic media returning to the fore.

[ ] Refurbish Nomanisan Island (Stewardship)
DC 120

Nomanisan Island was Syndrome's vanity project to end all vanity projects. A massive, trillion-dollar floating island that cost a small fortune to keep moving around the Mojave, was terribly impractical for all research personnel, and attracted more than a little criticism from various environmental groups. To Olympia, it's an unfortunate reminder of the past that needs some refurbishing before it's ready to sell.

Outcome: Gain +3 funds when Nomanisan is finally sold

[ ] Update DaedalOS (Learning)
DC 130

DaedalOS isn't the most popular OS around, even when compared to relative newcomer Waddle, but it's relatively secure in its little niche. Rolling out another update and addressing consumer concerns would do wonders for keeping it alive.

Outcome: Improves your standing in [Computers/Electronics] to [Established].

[ ] Restore Zootopian Climate Systems (Stewardship)
DC 125 (increased by Kitsune)

Special Requirement: Must attempt research of Greco-Roman Terraforming in the same turn.

The massive climate systems that control the various divisions of Zootopia are beginning to break down. They need to be mended, and Bellwether has decided you're the ocelot for the job.

Outcome: Gain +1 Income from Zootopia, slight public opinion increase, moderate Zootopian opinion increase, gain access to Zootopian Climate Technology (allows for medium-scale active alteration of outdoor climates at a high- but not impossible- energy cost.). Zootopian Climate systems are repaired and will be maintained by DEI for the foreseeable future. If done as a collaboration with Olympia, Olympia will share the benefits with DEI, which will be somewhat reduced. In addition, they will gain equal control over the manning of the climate system. Reduce Zootopia Infiltration DC by 10.

That's my bigger consideration, yeah. Also, can you provide the full stat line up of your quest team? I see that you'll be keeping the Marcnificent Few bonus.

That's my bigger consideration, yeah. Also, can you provide the full stat line up of your quest team? I see that you'll be keeping the Marcnificent Few bonus.

Assuming that I didn't screw up anything, it should look like this.

Martial: 5+38+5+6 = 54
Diplomacy: 26+29+6 (-5) = 56/61, depending on sarcasm.
Stewardship: 23+15+6 = 42
Intrigue: 31+21+6 (+11) = 58/69, depending on whether Now You See Me kicks in.
Learning: 11+30+6 = 47
Occult: 0+23+6 = 29

For comparison, if my calculations are correct, the Mirage/Marco/Queen Lizzy/Mesmerella line-up suggested by Dickens and Megamart would have the following stats.

Martial: 5+29+7+6 = 47
Diplomacy: 26+20+6 = 52
Stewardship: 23+19+6 = 48
Intrigue: 31+29+6 = 66
Learning: 11+30+6 = 47
Occult: 0+14+6 = 20

My proposed team has more Martial (7 point advantage), Diplomacy (4-9 point advantage) and Occult (9 point advantage).

The other proposal has more Intrigue as long as Now You See Me doesn't kick in (8 point advantage) and Stewardship (6 point advantage).

Learning is the same with both proposed line-ups.

Also, my proposal doesn't cost income. The other team has Marco, so it costs one income.

In order to do this it sacrifices the interaction where Kitsune, one of the saviors of Twelfth Night, goes to Magical New York to open a connection between them and DEI.

And of course it doesn't go for what is potentially our best shot at rescuing Russ. But that's one of the main points of contention between Mork and Megamart.

So... where does this being an opportunity to save Russ come from, beyond this involving mindscape shenanigans?
Russ was told to seek out Mercurial in order to train his own abilities and to "find his spark". And Mercurial told us that for those in need of special solutions, he was known as the Dreamfinder.

Russ is in need of special solutions, and this is the best situation we have to bring a special problem to the Dreamfinder's attention.

Sleepwalker sighed. "A degree of uncertainty is necessary. Idle tongues draw attention, and all is not well in the mind's eye. You represent an opportunity to perhaps correct the balance. If you can be taught how."

....

"The choice is yours." Sleepwalker replied. "Brave the unknown, or repose here forever more. The Twilight does not give up its prize without a lesson learned."

Russ scrutinized the doorway for a brief moment. Then, without further pause, he walked briskly towards it.

The figure watched him go. "If you make it to the waking world, search for a man called Mercurial. He will help you find your spark."

Agent Russ stepped into the unknown.

"Now now." The man replied. "For toons, and anyone else in need of… special solutions, I have another name you may know me by."

"Hmm?"

"If you have need of me, you may call me as… The Dreamfinder."

The broader context of the conversation seems to suggest that Mercurial could be a source of training for the greater purpose hinted by Sleepwalker, if Russ manages to return to the real world, rather than Mercurial being the gateway to the real world.

I'd put this under conceivable, but very unconfirmed, much like my own musings about the possibility of Norm undergoing character growth if he goes on the quest and interacts with others, now that Doof is on the bench.

I was more arguing that this would put Mercurial in a position where he could notice the missing memories. We know that, for instance, Director Riddle managed to stay clear of the mind-wiping. Whoever or whatever did this isn't invulnerable. Lest you forget, Russ has had a major influence on how Doof has grown as a person.

The argument about Norm is countered by the assertion that sending him to Sokyo' also has him interact with people without the influence of Doof. There is no other option that gives us even a chance of rescuing Russ, or even learning there is a person to save.

---[] Loan questionable assets
----DC 70, +71 Bonus. Only put XP if crit fishing, in which case we reduce the DC.
--[] [Diplomacy] Recruit the cream of the crop (Goofy)
---DC 105, +59 Bonus. High chance of critical failure without XP, increase the roll by 10 to only crit fail on a 1, 2, or 3.
--[] [Diplomacy] Establish ties with Magical New York (Kitsune)
---DC 95, +57 Bonus. No real chance of crit failure or crit success, reduce the DC if we want to improve the odds of success.
--[] [Stewardship] Corporate restructuring (Wasabi)
---DC 85, +35 Bonus. Needs XP to avoid a chance of crit fail, +3 to the roll and -7 to the DC (the chances of a crit are still very small, requiring a Nat 100)
--[] [Stewardship] Collaborate with Smarty Mart (Roddy Blair)
---DC70, +36 bonus. Only crit fails on natural 1. Lower if the DC if XP gets applied. Should probably put it on other more critical projects.
--[] [Intrigue] Track down Kat: ACME Unlimited (Wile E. Coyote)
---DC Unknown, it was between 130? and 160 before XP reduction, but it may have changed, +62 Bonus. Best practice would be to add to the roll to minimize the risk of a critical failure. Odds of success are 10% higher than they may appear due to bare failures counting as bare successes.
--[] [Intrigue] Investigate the theft of the Declaration of Independence (Monogram)
---DC Unknown, was previously 125, but it may have changed, +53 Bonus. Best practice would be to add to the roll to minimize the risk of a critical failure. Odds of success are 10% higher than they may appear due to bare failures counting as bare successes.
--[] [Intrigue] Hunt for Moles (Tobe)
---DC 125, +58 Bonus. Reducing the DC by 10 just barely gets out of crit fail range, and is thus optimal. Odds of success are 10% higher than they may appear due to bare failures counting as bare successes.
--[] [Intrigue] Hold a 'Security Seminar' (Dickens: Small)
---DC 100, +>31. It is unknown how much Intrigue the Small Dickens will have. Lowering the DC by 10 should take the action out of crit fail range, that would only require the hire to have 13 Intrigue. Odds of success are 10% higher than they may appear due to bare failures counting as bare successes.
--[] [Intrigue] Conduct a Security Sweep (Malifishmertz) (-10 from roll from Executive Priorities)
---DC 60, +40 Bonus. No real chance of crit fail. Only put XP if critfishing, in which case we reduce the DC. Odds of success are 10% higher than they may appear due to bare failures counting as bare successes.
--[] [Learning] Research with the Imagination Institute
---[] Study Doof's Mind (Technor)
----DC 110, +45 Bonus. Reducing the DC by 10 nullifies all chance of a critical failure as long as the Institute sends a hero with learning greater than 5. Thus, we can simply reduce the DC by 10 and hope for a success.
--[] [Occult] Form a Coven (Gomez)
---DC 48, +17 bonus. Reduce the DC by 8 and boost the roll by 2 if MiH rounds the crit fail range up. Reduce the DC by 9 and boost the roll by 1 if MiH rounds the crit fail range down.

I took the base of this from @BurnBright's analysis of Executive Mole Hunt, and applied it to Nystical's latest plan at BurnBright's request.

-[] National Actions:
--[] [Martial] Loan deniable assets (Genghis Khan)
Given this, what all XP do we have committed? We need at least 6000 XP to get out of crit fail range wherever we can, put on Goofy, Wasabi, Coyote, Monogram, Tobe, and Gomez as indicated by the plan above.

With all the writing that's been going on and has been done already, I think we're good

EDIT: Voting time!
