I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Could we use Otrek favour to ask him to invite some elves over for a visit?

What does Snorri think of the political of the idea of offering sending the Hearthwardens south to act as peacekeepers and mediators at Karak Kadrin?
 
if i understand correctly if we accept a request, we say were going to start doing it, so we shouldn't actually accept it until we put the actions to it. (otherwise we get narative punishments for delays, if understand correctly from the example when it happened before)
This is incorrect to my understanding. That happens when we pick a request and leave it open for more than a turn (as that's what happened the one instance it occurred: as it was taken on turn 6, left for turn 7, and then picked up on turn 8), and all we've done is just put it into our primary requests queue now and could put actions into it, plus its due whenever so there's even less issue. For example, for Difficult Requests, there'd be a later vote to decide what runes we want to put on it and stuff.

I knew I was forgetting something about why I thought roping in the Cult of Valaya for Clerical Aid was so important. I would like to direct everyone's attention to one of the senteces of the Hold Founding action.
(*New*)[X] Hold Founding: [Cost: 1 action, 1 retainer action] Locked in until end of turn 40. The political and technical finagling required to get an expedition equipped to form a Hold is one that requires a good deal of attention to make sure things get done properly. For the survivors of Dum this is an even greater necessity, as they quite literally suffered a near total collapse of their Guild and Clerical system after the betrayal. Apprentices will need proper Masters and the Dawi of Dum caught up to speed, and finding the right Dwarf for such a task is one of great effort indeed.

Dum had their clerical system demolished and spending favor with the Cult is not just a good idea, it is critical if we are actually serious about flexing and getting the survivors of Dum back on their feet quickly.

Better, more qualified Dawi are already doing what they can. This isn't saving a group lost in the woods or caught in a blizzard, it's wading into an active and hostile political tumult without invitation. The Hearthguard don't have the level of Renown that would make this sort of idea palatable, let alone acceptable.

Might be useful for a lot more than just narrative warm fuzzies over commjnity effort and everyone chipping in. Dum had their clerical system demolished and spending favor with the Cult is not just a good idea, it is critical if we are actually serious about flexing and getting the survivors of Dum back on their feet quickly.
The Clergy aren't useless here. People will be acting if you prod them or not in this case, just to clear up that assumption.

This is one hotly contested vote. Maybe the most contested I've seen it gotten in the history of the quest? Im not sure, either way I'm sorta sitting here waiting for a decent lead to form.
 
To advocate for Take a Walk, it involves the apprentices in the supplying and Karstah has been showing that she wants to try and follow Snorri's foot steps in Productivity. This would be the perfect task for her to really try and go for that.
 
Yeah the biggest complaint I have for the gift giver is that it leaves the apprentices out of helping the hold. From a mechanical standpoint it's less overflow, from a narrative I'd like to see them helping with the rest of the hold. Take a walk has them help.

changing to this, as it has almost as many Snorri actions, but gets the apprentices involved, wheras the other leading vote has +1 snorri action, but doesn't get the apprentices in on things. And I think getting the apprentices involves will be good for them. Give them work with real purpose, helping dwarves get back on their feet seems a great way to teach them the value of helping others.

I can easily see this justified IC as Snorri supplying everything they need and more before the decade is out, and then using the last year or so after he's finished to check out one of the odd locations.
