[X] Later today, read, destroy diary.

[X] Oriko
- [X] Offering O&K change. Substantial?
- [X] Trading more security measures for permissions.
- [X] Attachments to mansion? Moving? Discuss options.

[x] Telepathy Hitomi. We wanted mom's help. Best communication method ?
-[x] If "now" , contact Mrs. Shizuki. Arrange meeting, topics:
--[x] Brokering Magic fabrications for payment.
--[x] Finding trustworthy psychiatrists. We met troubled girls, it's our responsibility.

[X] Discuss w/Mami, Call Nadia, ask contact Riona.
--[X] Put forth a good impression, mention Oriko/include Mami as necessary.

[X] Contact Kyouko/Yuma, status, confirm Sayaka appointment.

[X] Attempt substitute for Grief Seeds
-[X] Test 'control enchantment.'
--[X] upon rock.
---[X] use will, visualization, make it transform.
---[X] Install Grief attracting magic.

[X] Enchant casing of Aurora.
-[X] Strongly imagine properties of soul gem, container for Hope.
[X] Make speckled "soul gem signal/range boost" enchantment.
[X] Hunt a witch.

Better to destroy it, imagine how Kirika reacts when we did not burn it.
Honesty I really don't like the idea of reading it even if I like to break open Homu's privacy but in this case I feel its insidious on us though we should keep an eye on Oriko's uncle should he come around to trigger it or Kirika.

But since we're going to read it, I would love to see Sabrina's fury, the intense emotion would be interesting to see.

Even without Kuybey mindwipe, how exactly is that a compromising information? "We're gonna tell the world you're magical girl"? Doesn't really sound like something good for their political careers.

It's more about using her as an assassin, or mining her for what future information she has left.

If you discover an estranged family member is a fairly powerful meguca, you aren't going to do something stupid like expose her- seeing as magic isn't known, something is going to keep that from happening.

Instead, you have her churn out enchanted items (whether to keep and use or sell on the black market), dispose of political opponents (who'd suspect a teenager?), you have her smuggle things through 4-space, you hire her out as a bodyguard; even a baseline magical girl is a massive resource. And that's before the Mikunis discover Oriko's a (former) seer.

And worst of all, we can't expect coobie to mindwipe these fuckers. Because they're Oriko's family.

Of course, if any of this does happen, we'll come down on the Mikuni Clan like the Wrath of God. And of course, there's a good chance the Mikunis never find out about Oriko, rendering all this shadowrunning moot. Still, something to keep in mind.

With what leverage?

Oriko hates her father's family. They have no means of actually forcing her to assist them. What are they gonna do, confiscate the house and all her assets? She's a meguca working with us, she can get a magically proof fake ID and set herself up in a mansion in Argentina over a single weekend. If she's feeling vengeful she'll point Kirika at them and tell her to go wild, too.

And that is why you don't let me shadowrun- the resulting boutique of paranoia has more holes on it than Swiss cheese. I'll accept these points, and concede the argument.

and our prior assumptions --- that it contained an Infohazard about her father killing her mother --- appear to be quite badly wrong at this juncture.
I'm uncertain as to whether SP's choice of pages shown in Vol. 3 deliberately bamboozled me by hinting at things that didn't happen, by distracting me from other things that ended up being a hell of a lot worse, of both.

I am the bamboozled. :V

There may come a day when learning the real reason her father killed himself will help her come to terms with it (or maybe not, but keeping the option is cheap).
What seems will actually help Oriko is basically what we're doing, which is shipping her (with Kirika, and maybe to Hawaai :V) and trying to be her friend.

We could also go and cry about diary during rooftop lunch. :p

Soooooo Aurora. Science. Aurora. Science. Do Science. Let O&K have their cute moment.

I know there's been ideas thorough the years about how to precisely science Aurora, but I don't remember them all, and they're not in the Planner.

Now my best idea is trying to feed Aurora happy thoughts. :V

[X] Diary to Cloud Storage. Cloud Storage to Hammerspace.

[X] Let O&K have their breakfast in peace. Talk later.

[X] Ensure privacy. SCIENCE! Aurora:
-[X] Precaution: Leave you Soul Gem in contact with Hildegarde.
-[X] Observe.
-[X] Feed Grief and cleanse. Note changes.
-[X] Enchant a tiny bit of Grief while thinking happy thoughts. Think of your friends, of Mami.
--[X] Try offering a that bit of Enchanted Grief to Aurora.
--[X] If no results, try (carefully!) poking Aurora with magic.

[X] Discuss House Arrest.
-[X] Explain yesterday's talk.
--[X] Apologize for the sudden birb invasion.
--[X] Offer your thoughts. Progress is gonna be slow, and if they agree to the changes, that would help.
--[X] Ask what they think.

Finally caught up and wow, does it feel weird. Don't really have much more to say other then; why didn't anyone suggest Breaking Free as a duet to sing with Mumi during karaoke night?

Just took Onmur's vote and took away the birb line.

@Onmur - Actually, the central part of this vote needs a bit more development?

Seems that the idea here is to not make progress on our call list, instead put all effort into science.

Correct?

All science effort becomes Aurora interaction?

Are the few tasks in there worth the value of everything that was traded away?

The improvement would be to either invent more SCIENCE breakthroughs to use the morning fully, or compress the wording.
The de-witching goal is important.
Not falling behind during our very, very short lifetime is important too.
When do we get therapists, if we don't start in the morning?

Try hard to do both?

I think the implication is more, we're kind of in the middle of a social interaction with O&K, and we're planning to step out for a bit to give them time to breakfast and be adorable, but come back a little later in the morning to discuss the house arrest stuff. And there's not actually that much time for a full barrage of SCIENCE! or all of our other Social tasks; at most we might could add a few of the short "contact some folks to verify appointments and such", like, the small 5 minute tasks, not the full discussions. But leaving it to just a two-part vote leaves more room for the present tasks, and we can devote a bit more time after the O&K talk. I think that's the idea, anyway.

Assuming we don't need to hang on to the physical diary, we can actually make information perfectly inaccessible yet retrievable by encrypting it with a public key whose private key we hold onto outside the story.

However, this may be an infohazard for Sabrina, as it confirms the extradimensional nature of her consciousness.

Hey, actually, question. We got that book of concrete mixing specs when we asked our powers for information we didn't know, right? Well now that we have this thing in our hands, would it be hypothetically possible to get our grief to scan the thing without us learning the contents, and then just reproduce a grief copy on command?

I'd still prefer to just storage the thing until further notice, just because the physical continuity of an item is evidence in and of itself if it becomes needed, but the idea has wider implications for item and data storage than just this diary.

While I don't think doing SCIENCE! then coming back would be a faux pas or anything, I could see just doing something else that's quicker, but we've been putting off checking on Aurora for so long...

I could see calling Riona, except I'm not sure that's a good idea, necessarily.

Also, I could see asking Kirika about whether to give O&K privacy or not. Maybe they wouldn't mind if we stay.

I really hope that things don't get meta like that, because bringing the actual real world into PMAS would be a huge mistake IMO.

Along with Mami dying or witching-out, I think Sabrina finding out that she essentially has no free will could be the second big thing that would cause her to witch-out. Sabrina doesn't need to know she's a quest character.

"She" already knows. Actually, "we" know. "YOU" are Sabrina in the composite sense, that's the correct reading? Therefore, not such an issue. I cite:
I will be treating her as an avatar of SV

If you want to limit what you ask for, why not ask Mrs. Shizuki via Hitomi to get our recruitment of therapists in action?

Out of the various calls we could make, is that not highest priority? Do you object to the concept in general?

His proposed method doesn't really do that? It's just Sabrina encrypting something with a private key she has memorized. Normal people have trouble memorizing an entire private key of normal length, but she already knows she has unusual memory. She can either do it manually (although at that point it's pointless, since she might as well memorize the diary itself perfectly instead), or with griefhax (in which case it can probably be a secret to everyone until she uses the private key only she knows to decrypt it).

Specifically, the thread serves as a manifestation of Sabrina's thought process. The connection between SV and protagonist in PMAS is much deeper than any other quest.

With most quests, we (the voters) take the form of a sort of subconscious; take Asuka Quest, where the voters were actually heard as voices in SB!Asuka's head, but she was still her own character.

Here, Sabrina is the borderline between being an "I" and being a "we". Imagine the Entities in Worm. Each poster- you, me, Onmur, Kaizuki, anybody- is a Shard; a fragment of Sabrina's total self. Firnagzen is a central cluster of Shards, including Queen Administrator and Communication. He interprets our cacophony of arguments and shitposting, forging something coherent, and taking care of involuntary stuff like Mumihugs and cleansing. Finally, this is expressed through Sabrina herself, our avatar, like Scion for the [WARRIOR].

In turn, and also like Scion and the [WARRIOR], Sabrina's human mind affects her true mind. As we provide direction, and Firn translates it, our Soul Gem and meatsack provide a filter with all those teenage hormones and emotions, which comes back around to us.

At least, that's how I interpret all this.
