Check with Nakano Mika how her talk with Kyouko went
Wait, did we ever connect these two? I thought we called up Mika to check that she was one of those Nakanos, then told her we had something we wanted to ask her about later.

EDIT: I'll also mention that Tsubaki Mikoto, by canon, would probably have witched out by now. After all, she witched out in the titular character's backstory. However, this is only a 'probably', and even so, Madoka's wish may very well have altered things so that we at least have a chance to save her. 'Everything can be fixed', after all.
As far as we know she's alive, but I don't know how long she's going to stay that way. We should probably go find her tomorrow, while Mami is at school, before another crisis develops and distracts us until it's too late.

[X] More hugs.
-[X] Re-promise everything will work out.
-[X] Tell Homura she can always come to you if she feels the need to talk about anything... or to hug someone.

All suggestion list? Yep... transition wisely. Don't lose sight of where we want to go with this all. Brinapilot doesn't have to do that for us.

What we have so far?

[Q] Talk with Homura about your hugging privileges.

Understand -and decide our reactions to - the sum of the remainder of Homura's ambiguous responses. As expected, one doesn't get a walkover in these situations.

Set up a way to give ongoing support that is interactive. Affirmation must be available to her short term. As long as we avoid infohazards, involve Mami a bit more with Homura? Kyuubey isn't between them now.

Pay attention to Homura's agency. Oriko conversation was ineffective to affirm her agency, because there WAS one right answer. Go beyond "we give her choices" level. It would do her more good if she can invent and pursue a project with others, where she is the authority.
-- Sub goal - ask her if she is gathering and planning for Walpurgisnacht? Can she lead the strategy meeting?
-- Sub goal ask her how old Madoka will be when her ability to contract expires? Get Homura to imagine herself making a realistic future she wants.

How might we involve Madoka in support? That is part of the 'deal' with her. Also, we need to present magic in a continuing harsh light. It helps to run Kyuubey off the rails.

1. Homura sees herself as a defective single-purpose machine, worthless, subhuman, trash for her inability to fulfill her intended function of protecting Madoka.
2. Homura will be happier when she reaches a point she can stop seeing herself like that, and deserves to be able to reach that point.

• Check on Masami/Hiroko/Ono and their Kuroki hunt
• Check on Asunaro, try to contact Hijiri again
• Check with Nakano Mika how her talk with Kyouko went

We can probably do all that from the apartment. Offer to make Mami a bracelet to match the ribbon one on us. After everyone goes home, ask Mami to just seriously do anything for Homura if she is asked to because gawd we owe her so much and can do so little for her (or don't do that, ehe).

And then tomorrow...? I favor roosting on the school roof for the first few hours of the day, personally.

Train Homura to affirm herself.
Very first time will be now, and it will be a "repeat after me" thing.

"Any time and any place, Homura. I am here for you. Whatever is going on, whenever it's going on."

Or a -Yes, and Thank You too.- Nobody can escape this fate alone. We don't have to become perfect. We should try to be together. Giving each other hope can't be wrong. We need her as well.

Is your initial impulse to verbally test her for each stage of Wish? Might be good? We must not mis-understand.

We can lead? "Sabrina feels a deep need to control your Grief. You just gave her that. now tell us "----"?

Find Tsubaki Mikoto(bleeding heart guca from Suzune Magica, hopefully we can get to her before she witches. Getting to her should also prevent basically all the problems in Suzune Magica from happening)
Check Kuroki's phone(don't fully recall who she was, but we were investigating her earlier and trying to see whether she witched out or died or something. We found her phone, but haven't done anything with it yet)
Find Tsuchiya Ritsuko(Hitomom's old school friend. She's PROBABLY dead or witched out. But if she hasn't, we should probably try and find her before she DOES die/witch out. Probably not as important as the others because she's probably fucked already.)

[ ] Talk to Sayaka about plans for tommorow:
-[ ] You're going to be hunting witches around town, looking into potentials, maybe meetings with some neighbours, and keeping an eye open for immigrants and/or Riona. Does she want to make a clone to join you?

We could also bring up the possibility of witchbombing Sayaka to Homura right now,(that is, bring up the possibility right now, not actually suggest to immediately witchbomb sayaka) but whether Homura is up for that talk right now I don't know. On one hand, she might need some time to recover from that talk, on the other hand, talking business might help her cope a bit. Personally leaning towards 'not right now'.

IT IS TIME

TIME
to finish our support with Adult!Homura after her reboot. A good session wouldn't quite end without setting the direction for the person. We can ask. There are some longer eloquent things from last week we could say now.

First of all, what time is it? Having a mini-arc in timestop after... practice, I think? messed up with my perception of time in the quest. For now my idea is just take it easy for Homura.

[ ] Hug Homura
- [ ] Let Homura have time to compose herself before returning to realtime
- [ ] Go watch the battle replay/watch a silly movie/practice enchinting

Even if enchanting was something personal, I felt there was a comfortable silence then. Helpful for Homura.

Another thing on Tsubaki Mikoto: we can probably ask Nadia where Tsubaki lives or at least how to get in contact with her. In fact, Nadia is probably capable of telepathy-ing Tsubaki. If that's the case, we could have her ask how Tsubaki is doing, and whether she needs help right now. We could plan a meetup by using Nadia as a messenger this way.

Of course, we should remain polite and not use Nadia as a messenger too much... It might get annoying after a while. xP

Anyway... The vote in abeyance sounds pretty good here. I think we might be getting a little too hug-happy, though. Personally, I've got a sorta... limited social battery, and hugs exhaust it pretty quickly. I love hugs and all, but too many gets exhausting. So in case Homura is the same way, I'd instead go with this:

[X] Ask if Homura wants another hug.
-[X] Re-promise everything will work out.
-[X] Tell Homura she can always come to you if she feels the need to talk about anything... or to hug someone.

[X] Firnagzen

This is also encouraging her to be a bit more open with what she wants. I imagine Homura isn't typically someone who would dare to ask for a hug even if she wanted one. Asking her if she wants one is a step towards her being more open about it.

EDIT: Basically, um, if Homura says yes or nods or something to indicate that she wants a hug, that's progress towards her being more open about her feelings. If she says no, that's also good because otherwise we would've hugged her without her wanting to. Only problem would be if she indicates one thing while actually wanting the other: for example, saying no but wanting yes, because that's the comfort zone. Or saying yes but wanting no, because she knows we like hugs and she feels like she has to repay us. I don't think she'll lie to us right now, though: not after that heavy, honest talk we just had. And she trusts us a lot, too.

The impact of the potentialbomb will reduce after Walpurgisnacht comes and goes without a Madocontract I think.

Alternatively try to ameliorate it by pointing out that if she keeps looping, eventually Madoka's potential would be so huge that it could threaten the universe and hence Kyuubey would do everything in it's power to stop her from contracting. :V

Unlikely - Madoka can already trivially nuke the whole universe with her wish. QB is unfortunately too stupid to consider the risks of handing omnipotent power to someone with every reason to hate his guts.

The Cubes isn't stupid. He's actually very smart. Smart enough to know there's a bit of a difference between "might make a wish that will destroy/radically-alter-in-a-unbeneficial-way the universe" and "will absolutely destroy the universe upon witching out". Kyuubey can manipulate the situation to avoid the former. The latter? Not so much.

But then, it isn't like I was proposing that as a serious option. Who knows how bloody long Homura would have to loop in order to get Madoka's potential that high, after all.

I also want to raise a concern.

Naval artillery is the wrong route for a combination attack with Mami.

Mami has said (and shown) that she transmutes ribbon into mundane(-ish) powder charge to propel her musket-balls. It follows (probably) that the magical nature of Tiro Finale / etc is not due to propulsion mechanism.

But powder is shit, as everyone on this site is aware. Why bother with gunpowder when we could be inducing an arbitrary current for a railgun?

It wouldn't even be hard (I think). The chief concerns are power supply and sustainability of fire, unless I'm seriously mistaken. Power supply is trivial -- we should be able to store and discharge an arbitrary current in grief batteries given our ability to manipulate grief's physical properties (I think?). Or just pretend we're Elon Musk and make our own super LI cells? I dunno. As for sustainability, who needs sustainability when we can discharge a ribbon projectile at several thousand meters a second?

*evil nyan-ing*

Also, MUMI-SCIENCE!

Things left to do today:
• Check on Masami/Hiroko/Ono and their Kuroki hunt
• Check on Asunaro, try to contact Hijiri again
• Check with Nakano Mika how her talk with Kyouko went

I think that's all the really urgent stuff?
I don't see why we're contacting Mika or Kyouko today. Is there any reason we can't talk to Kyouko about it tomorrow?

We can probably do all that from the apartment. Offer to make Mami a bracelet to match the ribbon one on us. After everyone goes home, ask Mami to just seriously do anything for Homura if she is asked to because gawd we owe her so much and can do so little for her (or don't do that, ehe).

I'm not sure it's safe to assume that getting in contact with Hijiri again and making sure she's safe will be as simple as just calling her.

EDIT: Though I suppose there's also a possibility that Suzune Magica took place in one of the early timelines, where Madoka didn't have enough potential to pull a Gretchen. In that case, Suzune Magica could actually have taken place weeks or months or even years after Madoka Magica. This could mean we have considerably more time before she witches, though I'd personally rather not risk it. (for those unaware, timelines keep going even after Homura abandons them and travels back in time. she's hopping to different timelines, not resetting the same timeline over and over)

The impression I get is that Suzune Magica is absolutely a thing that takes place years after the state we're at in PMAS. The only way it wouldn't be is if everything was already fixed without us being present at all.

Reason being that when we see the flashbacks in the manga to when Tsubaki dies, all the girls are much younger, on the order of years of development. So either something zigged when it should have zagged and no incident exists, or the only person we would have any need to save is Tsubaki herself.

Plus all the girls' weapons have a somewhat sci-fi vibe. That's how you know it's the future. :p

We don't really need propellant or electromagnetics to launch a projectile. We can use Grief to grip it and accelerate it arbitrarily fast.

The nice thing about our combo attack with Mami (I'm blanking on the name) is that it's a joint effort split roughly equally between the two of us, which is good for morale.

*waggles finger at Narrator*

Bad Narrator. You're ignoring the magical nature of the projectiles from Mami as opposed to our own. A bullet going arbitrarily fast is predicted to have different effects from a [bullet made of magic] going arbitrarily fast.

The first one never hurts WPN. The second one we believe will.

"You didn't give up on them, even when it seemed impossible," you say. "You kept trying, and you kept getting closer."

Homura shakes her head, tired and slow.

"Homura, I think the world of you," you murmur. "I really do. You've been fighting for so long. Everything you've done, everything you're still doing, for Madoka, for me, for the world... thank you, for all of it. Just... fighting for a better outcome for everyone is you Madoka would have wanted from you."

She swallows hard, looking away.

You smile at her still, gently clasping her hand between both of yours. She's trembling, still. Just a little. She stills, slowly, and draws in a breath, facing you with renewed determination... before her eyes drop from yours again.

"I'm fighting for her," she whispers. "I... if we win. It doesn't matter."

Her eyes flicker back up to you again, for a split second.

"Thank you," she whispers.
I really don't like the subtext here, especially in the context of knowing that Homura's plans for post-Walpurgisnacht victory in canon included her suicide.

Sure, Mami can shoot to greater effect.

The combo attack under consideration isn't just with Mami.

We need to explore a combo attack with All Of Mitakihara.

The main reason to involve gunpowder projectiles is to achieve rate of fire, from 10ish mile range. The reason to want that is to gain field control of the WitchFest.

The weakness of a single-girl assault on the Queen of Witches is her vast area of destruction / ammo collection. Moving her fixes that somewhat.

The other reason to arm some Magical Girls with conventional weapons of the larger sort is to divide the risk and give everybody a safety margin. Learn from Homura. Artillery has vastly greater range than Walpurgisnacht, generally. It hardly hurts her. But she will respond to cherrytap damage. This will give her too many things to shoot at. She may not miss, but at range, our allies will dodge. Ranked fire and mobility will allow even healing type Magical Girls to knock Walpurgisnacht around, and kite her.

Without any magical input, and without the location concerns of a true railgun, anyone can punch Walpurgisnacht with high explosives. That's canon. Magitech BFG's aren't unwelcome. It is just cheaper logistically to use borrowed mundane stuff. When we want to start winning, anti-magic added to the rounds will make them surprisingly effective. If we could social the legitimate armed forces into position, so much the better. It would be an interesting complication.

Heavy weapons are also more than suitable to move or destroy the sub-witches that come along with WitchFest. Having 'A2AD' saturation will reduce hazards to the mop-up teams, and harass the enemy to prevent them from targeting our manual attack team.

This sets the stage for Homura. The enemy has close-in defense, and decent reflexes. Homura can ignore those entirely, and has all the experience required to end the fight fastest. If she shepherds in a boarding party, Walpurgisnacht can be mobbed without sacrifice.

This sets the stage for her personal victory.

We have to get her healthier before then.

Anyway, let's do better in the present! Back to our votes...

I swear, if Homura fucking kills herself, we will find a way to bring her back, and slap the shit out of her.

But seriously, do you have a source for this? Because if this is true, we have another problem to deal with- a high priority one, too- that more likely that not can't be solved with a well placed slap.
