Something, something "Average Pun Enjoyer".

I also think WEBIR is substantially less funny, and I would really prefer a branch college with the WEBER acronym, but yeah "Intersectional" actually describes what the branch is about, as GrimTheMad said.

"Esoteric" is like... yeah sure, we'll be doing some esoteric research? But it's not at all an adequate descriptor. It may be technically accurate, but it does not communicate the College's goals/methodology and what makes it distinct. "Intersectional", however, does.

In the end, I'm not willing to sacrifice this much clarity for the sake of being clever. Even if I really do enjoy being clever.

I kinda dislike the word intersectional being used here, because of the usual context i find it in that does not really fit what we are doing.
It is technicly accurate, i think, but somewhat confusing (to me, maybe others find it clearer).

If we must have a a descriptive, why go for the not quite acronym.
World's Edge Interdisciplinary Research Department for acronym
World's Edge Intedisciplinary College for not.
Karag Nar Interdisciplinary Gathering & High Thaumology Academy for KNIGHT Academy if we want to go utterly nuts.

I don't particularly care about the acronym, I just think WEBIR is a way better name because 'Intersectional' actually describes what the branch is all about.

That seems more important than a fun acronym.
If we move away from puns and acronyms then calling a magical research institution a "Branch" in it's official name seems less than optimal.

The Amber/Jade Branch in the Royal Academy doesn't have an explanatory name either.
I would like to take this opportunity to point out that KNIGHT is both a backronym and a nod to the charter.
I don't like any of the G candidates and couldn't come up with a better one myself either.

Honestly I actively dislike most of the college branch names and it's not because they're puns or an attempt at one it's because the name doesn't do a good job of being a hook to draw potential researchers

Disagree. This is a Branch of the Colleges of Magic, established with their support and funding and legitimacy. It is not meant to be an independent institution and will never stand on its own. Anyone showing up should know what they're getting into.

Eh well... it is not supposed to stand on its own so long as its parent institution still exists, but this is Warhammer, never say never. Nagash could get off the couch and wipe the Empire off the face of the earth leaving this as the last heir of the colleges of magic.

If that happens, I'll be happy to vote to rename the Branch. :V

If Nagash goes and tries to wipe the empire off the face of the earth we should raise our own undead army to stop him.

Look at the other existing Branches. None of them are called "Branch". In fact, I'd be surprised if there are any branches of research or educational institutions IRL that literally call themselves "Branch" instead of "Department" or "Campus" or "Facility" or whatever. They are branches, but they don't name themselves that. As far as I know at least.

A lot of the 'branches' existed before the colleges though, so that might have something to do with it.
