Dragon librarian, dragon librarian, dragon librarian-
Belebro, you need to look on the bright side of things: with an Emperor Dragon librarian, no one will dare have overdue books. And if the Dragon gets involved enough to actively be the librarian, it will gain an interest in the library not falling, and by extension, the Karak, or at least part of it, not falling.

I would like to present the name Bibliographical Order Of Karak-8-Peaks, or...

'B O O K'
This is good and pure.
Naming the library "Everlasting" feels like commissioning a personal Wolfship and naming it as "The Unsinkable Titanic".
But on the the upside, Eaglo will make a totally sweet song out of it, so it think that's a win on the whole.
No joke, but the We would make a great librarian. They're intelligent, curious, systematic and great at horizontal traversal. Anyone who's to load gets forcibly calmed via poison fang.

And Cython will be the one you have to explain lost or damaged books to. Contrary to what you might think, this is actually mercyfull, because the alternative would explaining to a grumpy dwarf that you've damaged the repayment of K8Ps to one of its most cherished friends and allies.
Though her expression is steady, her shadow is all but bouncing on its heels.
I really like this bit. Super cute, and I totally see it happen. Great mental image.

On the other hand, this only remains the case until the dragon falls asleep for a couple decades. Which would make the help desk very much not live up to its name.

Anyone interested in naming the Branch in khalazid as well? I was trying to think of something I liked for purpose/resonance, and Gorak Grungron is 'magical forge'.

I suppose you could gloss it as Grungron Gorak Kron as well- the forge of magical knowledge.

But I really liked the "Intracollege and Extracollege" line Boney had, and I want to keep it.

So maybe even play up there bureaucratic style a bit?

The Imperial Colleges of Magic Campus of Intracollegiate and Extracollegiate Affairs.

ICMCIEA. Icemicea, in pronunciation.

That's why Cython is only the head librarian. The help desk is operated by Dwarfs/Halflings?Humans that don't have to use Battle Magic to fit indoors. The Dragon just gets to weigh in on the important stuff.

Weber Interdisciplinary Studies & Experiments Academy
aka
WISE Academy
Academy needs replacing with something that starts with R, or gets abbreviated as ASS.

I dunno. Knowing I could go and look at a sleeping dragon whenever I want would be very helpful to me. It's very comforting.
And these poor people don't have the internet, so they can't substitue cat pictures. (Clearly, the reason the Elves can't wake up more dragons is that they just can't find the will)

I think one of the things I like about the update is that Algard and Kurtis are really enthusiastic about the branch collage. They both seem to think it's a good idea, and it's got me excited for it too.

Also, I tried to look up Halétha, but all I could find is that she's a Protector Goddess of the Hedgewise. I don't suppose anyone knows any more about her?

Silmarillion Loan, maybe? Haleth was one of the chieftains of the tribes of men during the first age.

Not warhammer relevant, but knowing Warhammer's kitchen sink origins, could be?

Not outright offensive, but it is potentially confusing. 'Karak' does mean 'enduring', but modern convention is that 'Karak' as a place means a Dwarfhold.
Just to be sure: how long is "modern", here? Because if this started when Dwarfholds were named "Karak", then it'd been thousands of years...
Not that Dawi couldn't consider something millennia old to be "modern", of course :D
You shove the panic down.
At this point it's not panic anymore. Trepidation at most. He's resigned to Mathilde being Mathilde. You roll with the punches, catch the Karaks as they jump into your boat, and enjoy flexxing K8P's victories in front of other Kings.

My notes are currently in a dead computer, but from memory I had the idea of "Weber's Experimentation Branch for Esoteric Research."

Something Thorgrim and Belegar have in common.

There really isn't much about Haletha in the book that is referenced on the Wiki. A quick Ctrl + F in my PDF reveals 9 instances of Haletha. 8 of which are references to Haletha's Joy, a Fertility spell. The 9th is the "Protector of the Hedgefolk". It's just a name; any juicy stuff we get will be Boney-canon.

I like it. It includes her name, and if people shorten it, it still includes her name, but it otherwise sounds like something people would actually use as a name. Which isn't that restrictive, given that Very Large Telescope and Extremely Large Telescope are both actual, real names.
But yeah, "I work at WEBER" sounds pretty fitting/accurate to me.

I haven't thought too deeply about which name I prefer specifically, but I definitely really like the idea of having the branch college have "Weber" in it's name and it being some kind of silly acronym.

Is it wrong that, now that we have the library, I want to go buying Lizardman Plaques? (Or rubbings of them, whatever works.)

Not even for any mechanical benefit, but just because "Yeah, this looks like writing, which means they're probably some kind of records, so technically they're books. Buy 'em up/acquire copies and shelve 'em."

Can I suggest a different start to the backronym? I think it can be made to flow just a little more nicely.

After all, Karak Eight Peaks is part of the World's Edge mountains. :V

They will clearly swear to protect and preserve the books, and mumble at any sections that mention loaning stuff out. :V
You know everyone, back in the day libraries would only let you read the books on site due to their ludicrously high value.

So not loaning stuff out might not only not be an issue, it may very well be standard practice.
