You know I just mentioned the old chestnut about dwarf necromancers in one of my quests in response to old 1st Edition lore and then I realized, thanks the the Conclave of the Ancestor Cults and the fact that she has the Liber Mortis Mathilde is probably the only person in the history of the world who could actually become a dwarf necromancer. Not really an honor we want just something I thought would be cool to share.

Not especially keen on the reanimation of the necromancy prospect (badum-tiss)-
-but I think I figured out how Ranald pulled off the Soul Heist, if indeed there was such a heist.
"That's what all the manlings say. But when I try to say something like that to my fellow Engineers, they look at me like I suggested they marry a Goblin. Sometimes I think there was a mix-up somewhere along the line and I should have been born in Nuln."
Ranald made a bet with Morgrim- to swap Gotri's Umgi Nuln Engineer soul for Mathilde's Dawi Ranger soul- over who would turn out more... amusing, Radical, inventive and disruptive to the status quo.

Gotri is for sure scoring well, but I feel Ranald's bet is ahead on points at this time. He neglected to mention to Morgrim that He'd be putting the soul inside a Wizard.

I think this is a case of Ranald being too clever for his own good, and Morgrim of all gods got the drop on him.

Morgrim, watching Mathilde being instrumental to the reclamation of K8P, rescue Vlag, and all the other shenanigans she did.
"hah, you really got me this time Ranald, alas, you won the bet, woe is me, how could I live with Mathilde being so helpful the the dwarves..."

Edit: now I think what shenanigans would a rune poker Gotri would have come up with.

Well, if you believe an old-and-debatably-official Halfling army list, in 30 years time he's still adventuring in the Moot with his three traveling companions- Aragand, Legles, and Giblit.
Not familiar, but I assume a gandalf expy? Human wizard of what lore?

You know what I want to see? A social action or something trying to figure out how, exactly, that Conclave came to the conclusion Mathilde was actually a dwarf soul. I'm just really curious if there was something actually going on there, or if it really was just cultural impetus.

The old army list I mentioned had a group called the Comradeship, with one of them being a Grey Wizard named Olorin.
An itinerant wanderer, Olorin is much admired in the Moot for his fireworks displays and his ability to pull rabbits out of a hat. Tasty rabbits too. Olorin has a secret. But he's not telling.

Heh, possible that Boney cribbed it from there, but that is an easy reference that I won't be surprised if it was made independently several times, warhammer is filled with it if you look in the right places.

Of course, I still hasn't found something to top 40k all time champion in that regard, the first named inquisitor ever, Inquisitor Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau.
...to be fair it was at the time of the first edition when the lore was a bunch of writer throwing funny things at the wall and was half a parody.

Ah yes, the Inquisitor of whom nothing is known about beyond his (very silly) name and the pocket dimension coat where he stashes all the guns on his equipment list.
See, an inquisitor so good at secrecy and working in the shadow as their kind needs to be, that he managed to sneak beyond the fourth wall and hide his abilities and most of his history from even the writers.

@Fayhem Much as I'd dread a new Everchosen appearing in this quest's timeline, I do hold some small hope that Evermammoth would be on the roll table as a possible selection.

Just because the 21st century is full of caffeine addicts who can't imagine how anyone can function without their drug of choice doesn't mean people can't function without coffee.
Before coffee was widely available the safe drink of choice was alcohol. Coffee is a stimulant well alcohol is a depressant. The time of the switch is known as the enlightenment.

This is stunningly oversimplifying things.

Besides the fact that the period before the enlightenment gets a bad reputation despite the innovation that did occur during that time, there were many factors that helped contribute to the enlightenment. Of those, coffee did play a part, but I would argue that it was more due to the development of cafes that provided spaces for intellectuals to speak with each other while drinking coffee than due to the effects of the drink itself.

this is canon now until contradicted imo

Some more typo-hunting. Early days of K8P, leading up to getting our sword.

There was certainly an argument to be made that when the Karak was an active warzone (or more of a simmering one, as most of the fighting had given way to scouting and the occasional probing attack from the greenskins and a worrying silence from the Skaven) meant that a Court Wizard could definitely come in handy

In front of you, only the face on the throne is one you recognize, though you saw it only once before - Roswita Van Hal, Elector Countess of Stirland and daughter of Abelhelm. She seems to have aged faster than the few years it's been would allow, and has put on muscle and is wearing the leathers you previously saw her in much more naturally. The Witch Hunter by her side is the same one that accompanied her when she arrived, though he's lost an arm and gained a few scars. Whispering in her ear is a Priest of Sigmar, who by his heavyset frame and lack of armour isn't as militant as Brother Kasmir was, but he would know and be able to translate the ritual greeting you've just given. Rounding out her currently-present advisors are Detlef Schultz and Gustav von Jungfreud, neither of which seems to have changed much, and they give you nods of greeting as your eyes move to them.
This passage confuses me, because it says only the face on the throne is one we recognize, but then it lists a bunch of faces near her (who would presumably be in front of us) whom we also recognize.

@BoneyM, Wyssan's Wildform makes someone stronger and tougher, but the way it does that is by transforming someone into a bestial form. What's the way that Savage Beast of Horros makes someone stronger and faster?

Each individual sentence is factual.
